[Q] Android Prank/Virus App - Android Apps and Games

Is there any app that i can use to play a prank on a friend?
It doesnt matter if it breaks the phone and we have to reformat it, i want a heavy prank.

I think you're looking for a hammer I doubt there's an app specifically made to brick phones. Especially not on xda.

Dunno about heavy pranks (brick the phone). For light ones, there is (Better) Cracked Screen.

Well apps are made to make the phone move in gud smooth direction not to brick a phone.....Anyways what u are looking for is a script that makes the phone non usable...Enjoy ur search

Install Tasker on it and write a script to do something wierd whenever a SMS is received.
Not sure if you can make Tasker hide its notification icon though which might be a bit of a giveaway.

[Q] [Idea] babyphone app for 2 (android) devices

Hi all,
I hope this is the right section... tried developers section, but i am not allowed to post because of limitted amount of posts (dont want to post if its spam )
So, i did a search on google, a search in the market and a search on this forum and could not find what i was looking for.
I am a complete noob with developing apps and dont have the aspiration to do it in the future....
Here is my idea... hope somebody could react if it is possible at all or maybe that it is a completely stupid idea
My wife and i both have a htc desire and i was searching for a babyphone through wifi.... like i said... could not find it.
What i want:
- Place one device in the room from the baby when it is connected to the internet (wifi or 3g)
- The other device i would like to to take to friends ~600 meters away.
- With the phone i have with me i would like to connect to the other phone (through internet wifi or 3g) and hear what is going on at the room from the baby. (Maybe through a webpage or something like that???)
Hope it is clear to you guys what i ment.
I think it should be possible... something like skype or so?? Together with some options from the standard baby monitors in the market i think this could be a completely new app. Of course it could be extended in the future if you could use sound and the cam from the android device and have live video from the babys room....
104 views and no reaction... Is it a stupid idea or something impossible?

Actually, a Babyphone App is a very good idea
Some of the applications that allow for you to use your phone as a webcam also allow for audio capture, so they could be used similarly to what you want.
but can these apps you mentioned sent the captured video/audio to the android phone from my wife??
Noise Alert
While this is not for a constant audio connection, I used this for a baby monitor when in a bind.
You have to tweak the detection settings to suit your sleeper (snorers/rollers), but once you get it set right, if the wake up and cry the App will call your other phone and you can listen to the room at that time.
Not sure if you can set it to restart the app for false alarms, but logically this is probably in there.

Still this is not the best option for me... I want to have sound all the time... If you have kids you will understand.
Other thing is that I want to do it via internet...cheaper
Yeah i have kids. I bought a wireless video baby monitor with two way comminication and support for up to 4 cameras because i couldnt find an android solution.
Someone should definitely develop this idea.

Hi Master_B82,
I had the same idea, so that I think that it is not too bad ;-)
Actually, I was working hard over the last months in developing such an App, as I need it for myself, too.
The good news: I finished a first, fully functioning version. It is available on android market as "BabyPhone Mobile":
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.babyphonemobile
I hope, you like it
If you have any ideas on improving the App... Just tell me!

looking for a few apps. maybe you guys can help me out?

looking for a location app Incas lost or stolen. but I'm rooted so I would like it to turn GPS on. I would also like it to give me the number is the similar is changed. maybe take pictures? and make it ring remotely....
I'm also wanting to make my keyboard keys bigger... I'm on cm7 gingerbread keys. I would like to increase the padding between keys. I bought an app for this but the phone says this app can save my keystrokes and it might send them to the developer ... scary stuff... lol
I'm also wanting something to clear the cache or speed my phone up as I sometimes get stuck with a sluggish keyboard.
and last I was wanting to increase my CPU while decreaseing it while not in use... any apps for this?
willing to pay for good known and trusted quality apps.

Got an answer for this:
SetCPU, available at the market or in the link bellow

Would you like fries with that too? At least make an attempt to look and try some solutions first. Google search and the market are your friends...

Every third party keyboard will cause that warning to be displayed. As for the others, htcsense.com works great but you are on cm so you will have to use apps. It's been a while since I bothered with those kind of apps but I see people on here mention lookout. Honestly the only thing I use is fetchit to ring the phone at full volume. Never lost a phone but my wife constantly forgets where she laid hers down in the house so I just set that up to locate hers
I bought setcpu but I'm using CPU runner and it was free and I like it over setcpu... ill keep setcpu to help development. as for searching I have, I'm just asking for user opinions to save tike and money. I'm new to android and I need to re-build my app collection. I had atleast $500 in apps! lol

How difficult would it be to mod the CarCradle app? Specifically for froyo.

So, I decided that the $5 for the car cradle from verizon was too tempting. I've recieved it and have been using it for a day or so and it serves it's purpose. A good charging station that keeps it from sliding around my center console. I'd like to utilize the CarCradle app, but with the removal of bing (I'm not disappointed by this) the app dead-ends when selecting Maps, Voice Search & Navigator. Would it be possible to re-establish links to Google Maps, Goodle Voice Search & Google Navigator instead? I know that there are many other car apps on the market but this one isn't terrible, providing that the links work.
I've unpacked the .apk file but it's like trying to read Swahili. I wouldn't know the first place to begin. I'd like to eventually try my hand at app building but I'm a long way off.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Peace,
Ray
sure, wouldn't be hard at all actually! I'll work on this sometime this week/weekend
wouldnt this be considered as warez if it was modded for foryo.
Thanks Trailblazer, I look forward to seeing your result. The desk cradle app is suffering from the same de-binged issue if you're interested. I still don't understand why Samsung didn't allow for any customization with these two apps. Oh well, it is what it is.
Bierce22, I don't know. If that were the case you could say the same about 75% of the apps that make their way out to the public. Transparent widgets and apps and such would be similar, I would think. For that matter the froyo rom we now have could be considered the same. But I don't know the ins and outs of all this stuff. I'm just a simple end user looking the get the most out of a pretty good phone with lots of potential.
this is just my opinion i dont wont to start a big debate or flaming contest but i remember when theimpailer got in trouble for modding andgry birds to get it to run on lower devices he took out the adds in order to make it work. i just dont want to see someone get into trouble. if u fix it then keep it to yourself and problem soloved lol.
It's all good, I didn't see it as the beginning of a flame anything. The way I see that situation, and I only know what you have posted here, is that Angry Birds is a paid app in the market. Modding that and reposting could be considered copyright infringement, much like reposting an mp3 of a song on the old Napster. These Apps are included as part of the Samsung android os. I guess to eliminate the possibility of being infringement the "proper" thing to do would be to mod the app and only include it in an updated ROM. That way only current Continuum owners could aquire the Apps. But the nature of the open source OS is the ability to freely share modification and development. At least that's the way I see it, for whatever that's worth. Thanks for keeping us honest though. Simply because you can doesn't always mean that you ought. I don't see any issue with this situation... Then again, I'm a little biased as I'm the one interested in the mod. ;-)

Cradle Apps
Hi All,
I started the same musings on the accessory thread, then I started downloading alternatives. I haven't tried any of them because my car cradle was working with Google Maps and Search. I wonder if the de-Bing rom works the same way. I haven't tried that either. I get the same errors you speak of with the original 2.2 rom. I think to use these alternatives you just need to use something like Root Explorer to rename the stock app and name the new one the original stock app name. Search and you shall see the results of the different apps. I can post what I found if needed.

[Q] I think a spyware is taking pics

Ever since I rooted my phone, I sometimes hear the camera taking pics even though the camera app isnt being used. Could there be a spyware taking pics? How do I make sure of this? Sorry if this sounds paranoia loll
install an antivirus app.
Could just be you accidently pressing something or a kombination to take screenshots.
each Android application must obtain explicit permission to use certain controls on system / hardware... During installation, you are deciding whether to allow them or not. if you root your phone does not change anything in your system.. unless you are now recognized as superuser (SU) so unless you have not installed together with the root also an unknown app (visible between the app installed) I do not think there is one in spyrware your system. for safetyinstall an antivirus and do a scan.
tbh i think most antivirus apps for android are there to comfort the user, making him feel safe...
i doubt they would catch something in a real world scenario..

Every single time I see the anti-virus thing come up, I think to myself "Does it actually do anything"
I've never seen it catch anything, I'm sure there must be virus' out there for Android.. But is the anti virus really capable of dealing with it?
But anyway, if you can't find anywhere the pictures are being saved too, its probably not. But if it is..
If you're anything like me, your phones either in your pocket, or face up on the desk. The pictures it takes wouldn't be particularly interesting.
Actually Android viruses are few and many times they are in part of apps downloaded out of the Android Market.
antivirus programs are useful but do not have much to do for now ... they are only installed for greater safety, in the end if your phone is rooted you can always install a new rom or do well wipe the virus is eliminated.
excuse my rough English
lol that would be weird

Easy way is install gemini app manager. It can show you all apps that use specific features such as camera sms and so on.
If you see an app uses the camera that shouldn't need to then it may be a malware app though its more likely your pressing a preset key combination or button that activates the camera or takes a screenshot and just makes the sound when doing so.

The antivirus I had didn't scan (or at least let me know it had) til I installed the app. Seems pretty pointless to me.

Some screen shot apps can take pictures with a "snap sound" if the phone gets shaken, settings of the app will allow you disable it

App Permissions - Need a little help

I'm still newer to Android and today realized the permissions that apps request. Before I was quick to just accept & go. I was about to install an app that is requesting a LOT of permissions. Phone calls, hardware controls (pics/vids at any time), and network communication (SMS I believe). My questions are simple.
1. Do some mods already implement certain things into itself to disable some of these features? I understand this is a mod-by-mod basis if so. Does Synergy do anything to disable this crap, anybody know?
2. How worried do I have to be about this? Will the app literally take pics and send them out without my knowledge? Or is it only the pics I take it can send out? How does this work?
3. Which of the permissions that apps request do I really need to keep an eye on and watch out for? AKA, what could take info/pics that I dont want it to?
4. Is Anti-Virus software REALLY necessary since I'm all rooted and such? I read articles saying it's useful and others saying it doesn't even provide much protection, and the chance to get something is quite rare if you only use google play/android market?
Thanks in advance for any and all help. I ditched Apple and AT&T for this thing, and with it being rooted, I am unbelievably happy I made the switch to both VZW and the S3! AWESOME phone, screen size, and customization!
Bump...
Ok, so maybe this is getting ignored because it's too much of a noob question, or self explanatory? Not sure, but I want to know how far this crap goes...To my worst fears, like hardware control can take pics any time they want and I never know about it, or is it not that bad?
Thanks in advance for any help!
It is somewhat self explanatory... just use common sense when downloading an app... If you don't think it really needs the permission that it's asking for then don't download it. For example, there's no reason a music app that plays your sdcard contents needs your GPS location, etc... Look at the reviews of apps in question also... that's your best indicator right there if the app is trustworthy or not... If it's a bad app then its going to have bad reviews.

I tried to explain as best I can
