Found an interesting read and noticed that our read ahead speed is only set to 4kb. Flashed the file and it remained 4kb. Can anyone help increase our speeds?

Did anyone experience an unexplained loss of data (in particular, the "My Documents" folder) on their SD card after overclocking their device (Jamin)?
I overclocked it yesterday and while everything works like a charm, the entire My Documents folder disappeared from my SD card - gone, like the wind. Everything else is still there, and from the memory reading it seems like it's still full, too - but the content of the folders currently on the card can in no way make up for 600 Mb. I can't see the folder, and the Jamin can't access them, but the content is still there... somehow.
Tried the card on another pocket pc, same thing. Can't see most of my files. Any ideas? Help is highly appreciated!
Karin
I've been running overclocked at 252mhz for well over a month now and not had any data loss.
What brand memory card is it?
It's a Lexar. 1 Gig. I think maybe it's because I put the OmapClock program file into the storage card and linked from there?
I'll try to put the exe file into the Windows folder now, and then re-do the link process again. Hopefully it will work. I am used to the faster speed now and I don't want to go molasses again....
I too had the same problem... TWICE!!!
I thought at first it was a problem with Memaid, but it seems to be related more with overclocking. I too ran Omapclock.exe from the card and was accessed trhough a shortcut that was called through the camera button.
Now I just don't overclock just to see how it goes, but yes, I'd better be at 240 Mhz than 180 Mhz... But now I have to backup my SD card every now and then just in case... :?
SD data loss
I've also had SD data loss...
Twice in the last week ...
I am NOT running any overclocking on my JAMin but was using a no-name brand 4G miniSD card.
With the first failure, the result was as you describe. A full looking card, but nowhere near that amount of data on the card.
The second time 'round, I found that the SD card was filled up with empty directories !?! ...
I've put the 4GB card away for a while and have gone back to a 1Gb card (and keep a backup card, complete copy, nearby).
Sorry, my case not connected with overclocking, but same kind of data loss !
Cheers,
Wit C.
Has anyone noticed slow SD transfer since upgrading to ICS?
The simple copying of files from PC to SD has become unbearably slow. Even after fixing the SD (from the dialog that came up, not sure if it actually did anything) no change.
Taking the SD out and copying direct is very fast.
It wasn't like this on Gingerbread.
My Sensation is stock o/s, not rooted, I use Sense.
Note: I had posted this a few days back on a thread about reboots, no responses so reposting here as it's really a separate topic, hope that doesn't violate rules, etc.
With root, you can increase cache size your SD to 2048kb. You can also buy a faster card. What class you have now?
I had a similar problem. My file transfer was only a little slower on ICS, but it was noticeable. On top of that, my SD card would unmount without warning during larger transfers. This was on a Lexar 32 GB Class 10.
I ended up pulling the card a week ago, backing up the contents to my PC and just reformatting the thing in my PC as FAT32. It came as FAT32 from the factory, but I've read a lot of posts where people fixed their SD errors by reformatting the card in a PC.
So far, no unexpected SD unmounts, and speed might be better. Or it could be my imagination.
Not sure if this will fix your problem, but it's something to try if you have no other leads.
I have a class 10 sans disk. Didn't notice any slow down going to ice really.. Not that I can remember what GB was like sd card was misaligned apparently according to 4ext. I formatted my sd with my PC, hit the default format settings, not quick format then stuck it in my phone.
Thanks for the replies, they don't sound like my situation.
My card was always secure, and the copying is vastly different inside and outside the phone, so I can't fault the card.
Something is buffering between the phone and the card. The difference is night and day.
I can just take out the card and copy direct each time, but that's kinda stupid and inconvenient, there's got to be a better way. And I'd be surprised if it were only affecting my phone.
I am finding that moving files on and off the internal memory is incredibly slow. Is there anyway to speed it up?
Disclaimer: This is my first post. I have looked at other threads relating to this issue but I couldn't find any that answered my question. Also I want to add that the help and information I have gained from this website has been immeasurable, so thankyou in advance!
Today out of no where I went to play some music on my Skyrocket and noticed that everything on my SD card had been erased and the only thing that was left was an empty LOST.dir folder.
Luckily I back things up fairly regularly and haven't lost anything important that I know of. But I am obviously concerned that this has happened out of the blue.
Is there any way to determine what caused this or what happened? Could it have been a malfunctioning app? A virus? Is my SD card defective?
I connected my SD card to my computer with a card reader and ran Recuva. In the comment section it often states that many of the files have been overwritten with nonsensical paths (such as "F:\?\vZP}Û±Ÿð.Íÿ")
I have been running CM 10.1.2 since it's release and my phone has been pretty stable. My SD card is a Lexar 32 GB Class 10 Micro.
Any suggestions?
I got the A22 5G and I like it apart from one huge issue.
I encrypted my sd card (256 GB) and transfer rates are unbearably slow.
If I copy a 2 GB file from the internal storage to the SD card it will start ok (20 MB/s) but this is likely only the cache.
Soon it slows down to ultimately 10-50 kB/s which is unusable, copying was not finished after 15 min.
When I decrypt the card again everything is as fast as expected. I checked the SD card on another phone, no speed problems.
Back into the Samsung and encrypted it is unusably slow again.
Did anybody have a similar issue?
I returned the phone.
In case somebody else runs into this issue I'm afraid I could not determine the cause.
I tried adopting the SD card as internal storage via adp commands but Samsung has even blocked this now.
One can partition the SD card as internal storage still but it is not possible to trigger the migration.
This means any normal application will still only see the internal phone storage and not the sd card's.
Clear system cache.
Low level format the card, then format it again with the phone.
