Its pretty simple, even a noob can do it... Thanks for the file h8rift
*Must be rooted, with root explorer or other file explorer that allows system access installed. ALWAYS BACKUP BEFORE CHANGING SYSTEM FILES, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED PHONES, OR LOST DATA.
Download attached Logsprovider.apk (taken from the Refuse v1.6 ROM)
copy file, and place on the root of your SD Card.
place sd back in phone, and boot phone.
when fully booted go to root explorer, navigate to the External SD Card and copy the Logsprovider.apk file that you just copied to there.
mount system as r/w so you have read and write access.
press back, back, go to system then app and paste the Logsprovider.apk file
yes to overwrite the logsprovider.apk already on phone,
VERY Important, also delete Logsprovider.odex while in the same folder.
reboot the phone, and enjoy NO SMS or MMS in your call log.
Enjoy!~

More Info:
this will not delete the SMS and MMS files already in the log, it will stop any more from loggin there.

4. backup all your messages by using SMS Backup & Restore and name the backup file as 1.xml
5. using ASTRO, go to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ and you will see a db file called mmssms.db (it is the file where all your messages stored in the phone)
6. copy the mmssms.db to your sd card (anywhere, as long as you can remember where it is)
7. copy the MMSSMS.DB (my db file, will be sent to you later if you can help) and paste it in the /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/
8. then go to messaging, check if my messages can be shown at there

[Q] How to connect/access g2x thru computer

I have hellfire phoenix v1.9 running on my g2x. I wanted to add a ringtone from my computer into the g2x.
I have installed the android platform driver and then when I connect, I see drives E and F, but cannot explore them.
I searched and found a suggestion to turn on usb storage--but I find no options on the hellfire phoenix v1.9 to do this.
Also, toggling the usb debugging mode does not change anything.
All I am trying to do is to find the native ringtone folder and add my ringtone which I made in a .ogg format.
Please help
The simplest way for you to do this is put the file on your SD card and using either root explorer or ES file manager. You'll want to mount system as writeable via the settings and go to System\media\audio\ringtones\
Note you don't have to make the .ogg files it will still work with MP3's except alarms for some reason. You will also need to reboot before it shows up in your list.
Sorry, but I cannot understand when you say,
--You'll want to mount system as writeable via the settings and go to System\media\audio\ringtones\---
Is there a way to move this .ogg or .mp3 file into the ringtones folder (which exists in System\media\audio\ringtones. I can see all the ringtones once I use file explorer.
Even if I copy the file into a external sd, since it is not as intuitive as cut/copy and paste into the folder--how is this done.
What I was hoping was to be able to open this folder thru the computer when connected thru USB and just drag and drop it into the folder of ringtones. If this is not possible assuming the ringtone I want moved is called vintage.ogg , can this be done with ADB commands? Please help

Normally it's read only, as in you can look but you can't touch. Writable means you write to it, you can alter or otherwise put information/files there.
And, yes it's as simple as copy and paste, unless you don't know what you're doing in the first place.
Using ES file explorer is the simplest method. Even if you use ADB you still would have to give it the command to mount the system as writable. If you Droid explorer you still need to have the system mounted as writable.
I don't know if it works on all roms, but Gingerbread based roms if you make a directory named ringtones in the Root of the SD card the phone should read it from there, or it does on mine.
Yes, I did everything--thought it was going to work, but it failed.
Steps I took--
Copied a sound.ogg file into the ext sdcard
Installed ES file explorer and under preferences set permissions to write (because I am rooted)
Copied the file from edt sd card
then switched to the systems\media\audio\ringtones folder, was able to see all the ringtones currently present.
Pasted my sound.ogg file---it said "multiple operations completed, but failed to paste sound.ogg Unclear why..
Should I have rebooted after setting permissions to write, before executing the copy and paste operation?
Thanks for the prior help--but need some more..
Use an app called software data cable......works like a charm.....remember u need to be on the same network......it uses FTP service.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I use a really useful app called Airdroid which you can find on the Google market. It allows you to establish a Wifi connection through your computer's web browser to your phone. I then transfer whatever music, files, shows or anything I want through it.
Thanks everybody
Just followed my previous steps as outlined. Being a noob, I had to do things gingerly, not to screw up. As I guessed, I have to reboot, before the ability to write takes effect (on es file explorer). Then it is just a matter of copy and paste.
Thanks all

[MOD] Increasing Ringtone Fixed .APK

This is the Phone.apk which works with Samsung Infuse 4G UCLB3. It requires you to have root access and a file manager tool which allows root system file access to replace the existing Phone.apk in the system/app directory. This .apk was made with the direction of this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729717.
Again this fixes the increasing ringtone for the Samsung Infuse 4G running UCLB3 baseband(I997UCLB3)
To install.............
----->1. MUST HAVE ROOT ACCESS.
----->2. Download this Phone.apk that is attached and place it on either internal/external SD card
----->3. Go to system/app and BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL Phone.apk somewhere you can find it again then remove it from app folder
----->4. Copy the Phone.apk(the one you downloaded from below and put on you SD Card) to the system/app folder
----->5. Check the permissions once you copied they should be a follows "rw-r--r--" which should match the other .apk(s)
----->6. Reboot phone and verify function.

System "semi" Writable?

I recently Wiped my Phone completely and decided to Re-Flash Viper 1.2.1.
I noticed a problem prior to re-installing but thought nothing of if since it wasn't crucial at the time.
In Root explorer, I am able to delete [i normally delete boot animations] system files but not add where I need to add. Example, I wanted to add a ringtone to my system/media/ringtones folder. I normally [for the last six years] could just copy and paste such files using a root file manager.
However, when I any these files to for example /system/customize/resource/ it doesnt add it. BUT IT DOES rename the file and save it under a dif folder.
Example. Tried copying-copy to-moving to "androidtwirp.mp3" from sdcard to /system/media/notifications and a message pops up saying"notificationsandroidtwirp.mp3 successfully copied-moved to" and it saves notificationsandroidtwirp.mp3 to /system/media/ and it stays there. retrying from that location only results in "notificationsnotificationsandroidtwirp.mp3".
So not only does it rename the file but it saves it in the wrong location. I am at a loss for word. I tried the basics to tryand fix this but i cant seem to hit it on the head.
Thanks!
Edit: Not updating Super SU app, file explorer seems to have worked. Will attempt to duplicate problem to see what actually caused.it.
FOUND IT!
Updating my ES File explorer broke my system writing ability. DO NOT UPDATE is because when you do...
Any file you move, copy/paste to the system will not work properly.
This first happened when I tried to copy and paste a boot animation after I updated ES root explorer. It would rename whatever file i was trying to paste/move/copy over and save it under a sub folder.
example.
copying a ringtone [i.e. androidtwirp.mp3] from SDCard to System folder, the path is /system/media/audio/ringtones/ and it would rename it "ringtonesandroidtwirp.mp3" and save it under /system/media/audio/.
So basically not only was it renamed [which i didnt want it to be] but it would save it to the folder before the actual folder i needed it to be in, plus it would corrupt the file deeming it useless.
moving "ringtonesandroidtwirp.mp3" into the correct folder would only result in "ringtonesringtonesandroidtwirp.mp3"
this happened across the board with all files being moved around
The ES File Explorer version 1.2.1 comes with works flawlessly so don't update it.
I uninstalled ES [also any folders in SDcard related to it] and downloaded JRummy's root explorer and everything is back to normal except i have to reboot the phone to see files [like ringtones and notifications] that i added to the system.
I think it has something to do with our devices having an unlocked bootloaader, but still S-ON. There's S-OFF in the Dev section now if you really need to write to the system folder a lot.
I came from the Vibrant so I know what you're going through
Yeah, im on a low hboot so s-off might not be in my plans since I can practically flash what I want but it was ES file explorer, when I updated the apk the root permissions broke when writting to the system. I emailed the dev and they said they'd have it fixed on the next update.

[Q] Build.prop reverts when I reboot

I've been trying to modify my build.prop to enable carrier billing on my T-mobile One S with Zen Rom 1.05, but every time I reboot it reverts back to the one that came stock with the rom. I'm mounting R/W and I've copied the file onto my SD card after editing it to be sure it was actually saving. The copied file shows all of the changes, so I'm sure it is, but as soon as I reboot, the one in \system reverts. I've tried build.prop editors from the market, and editing it from root explorer's text editor, and it's all the same. Any ideas?
Thanks!
