Someone please help
I’ve been using ADB for awhile on my Windows 7 and it use to work perfectly without any problem. However recently, whenever I connect my phone (HTC Desire HD) to my PC, I don’t know why Window suddenly freezes after few minutes (varies between 1 to 7 min) and I have no option but to restart by pulling the plug.
Any idea how I can fix this?
Thanks and any advice/help will be highly appreciated,
USBDview is a free application from the NirSoft range and allow you to not only view the USB devices connected to your PC, and give you valuable information like VendorID, ProductID but also gives the power usage of the USB device. This can be at times good for troubleshooting any USB issues as they maybe power related.

Use it's free and remove all what you see when you use it. Then reboot the system.

Just checked, its working fine for me in California, 8:13 pm Pacific Time.
Works for my N5, N7 2012 - both running KitKat and the older HTC's running ICS - locate and ring her's at full volume.
Check your settings to see if it was turned off - power down & reboot it, try again.

Check if your Location settings isn't off!!
It's never worked for me even with the Nexus 4. Google Location Reporting is on. Location is on and is in Battery Saving mode which uses my Wi-Fi connection to locate my phone. Their app is hopeless so I now use an app called Lookout which is a lot more reliable than the Google one.
Changed the Mode to High Accuracy but still no luck locating my phone!!!!

My issue isnt that it doesnt work, it's that I can't even get to the web site. I get an error 500 message when I go to the web site. It happens if I use my phone or my computer with Chrome, AOSP browser, or Internet Explorer on my PC.
I am mainly interested in this app for the purpose of screen mirroring. I use the Torque app while in my vehicle, which also has a touchscreen Windows 8 computer. I am searching for an effective solution to mirror the screen. Since this will be used while traveling I will have to use the phone WIFI tether to enable the connection.
Does Airdroid offer a USB tether option? It would be great to have this. My monitor only has a VGA connection. If it had an HDMI connection I could just plug in a cable from the phone but it does not. I am not really worried about the FPS rate as I am not watching videos from the phone, and the lag isn't really an issue either....
Thanks
I've moved your post to this new thread.
AirDroid does offer USB tether option, just follow these steps:
1) Connect your Android to your computer with a USB cable.

}
2) Enable USB tethering. The detailed steps may vary for different devices, but should be similar: Go to Settings> WIRELESS & NETWORKS> MORE> Tethering & portable hotspot and check the box next to USB tethering.
3) Open AirDroid on your device, go to Tools tab, and press Tethering. A new AirDroid url like “http://192.168.42.129:8888” will be displayed.
4) Visit the full url above on your computer web browser to start using AirDroid.
You can find it in our help center http://help.airdroid.com/customer/portal/articles/1296187-how-to-use-airdroid-without-wi-fi-or-other-network-connection
If you don't care about fps, then TeamViewer might be what you are looking for. They offer screen mirroring, but it is really laggy and way to slow to play game on, but for torque it might do the trick
Message has been Baconized
Teamviewer will be a functional solution as a base, but I would wonder if the interface will be sufficient. It's gesture controlled with a mouse-style format. If you need to interact you may well find it difficult to drive and control the unit and maintain the focus necessary to drive safely.
I don't know enough about Torque or your specific needs in regard to it to make a good assessment but do try it as Gormsen suggested and please post back some thoughts and/or details so others in your situation or similar have some info to go on. I would imagine as someone thinking about implementing your type of setup having some input before dropping significant cash on it would be tremendously helpful
Good luck..
Hi everyone!
For almost a couple of months I have been dealing with my bricked Nokia 8, it became like this on its own, I did absolutely nothing to it, this is one of the greatest mysteries I've come across and been living in misery since.
If you want to know the full extent and description, you can check it in my original post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-8/help/help-nokia-8-powering-unresponsive-t3993959
Since then I have posted in the Noob thread and have been communicating with others, to the point that I've been trying my phone out with QPST, in particular the eMMC Software Download App. The reason being that I am wanting to gain access to my deep internal storage and do a full backup of the device, before I do any flashing or repairing to unbrick that would erase my data completely (I am in desperate need to retrieve my contacts and SMS messages as they are not backed up online or offline. It is also making my work life incredibly difficult and loosing out on jobs )
Long story short, my Nokia 8 gets recognised in device manager in 15 minutes after connected by USB as Qualcomm 9008 (before it was QSUSB_BULK but I installed the Qualcomm drivers manually).
I then proceed to open emmc software download app, and after wanting to "Switch device to DLOAD" I get this happening:

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It remains in that state with no progression (looks like 20%) and I have tried this again and after leaving it for more than 2 hours it's still the same and gives me this error message after selecting Okay.
However, if I unplug and re-plug USB, then open again emmc software download app, and then click DLOAD button to select phone, I get this:
The State is now Enabled but no more Q/QCP-XXX (Sahara Download), it just says No Phone.
Any idea what this means???
Does anyone know if they may have experienced this whatsoever? And if anyone can help me on this??
I would really really appreciate it!
Dear XDA forum,
Short story:
- Phone (huawei mya-l41) felt into water
- Recover for some days after a good bowl of rice
- Screen stops working completely afterwards#
- Got the phone to get back data (Unfortunately no backup was made )
Tests:
1. Preparation for connection to the PC
- Installation of MTK65XXX while in Windows Test Mode due to unsigned drivers
- Installation of adb/fastboot from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...vers-15-seconds-adb-installer-v1-4-3.2588979/
2. Connection to the PC
- USB Connection is unstable => crashes after ~3/5s
- Screen is not powering on
- Phone has already been charged for 2 hours to ensure power is high enough
- Trying to put the phone in recovery mode, but I'm not sure if I could reach it
- Being able to connect to the UART Port by luck in that range via Terminus https://github.com/Eugeny/terminus
and I can see the output "READY" printed out in series, but I don't know what it means

}
=> I tried to search on the forum with the keyword "READY" "ADB" "USB" but nothing interesting popped up
=> Searching in the Android source code will not help to, due to massive finds I guess
Any idea how I could proceed further?
Thanks a lot for any hints!
Rice may not work for drying phone. You'd better open it up and dried the sim and all that you could with a tissue. And you should also replace the battery if it has swollen.

I've got the phone after some days (1 week I would say) when it was not working as it's not mine. I expect the phone to be dry since there. The person already bought a new phone, he just would like to get back the photos
Good point for the battery! But it seems the battery has not swollen

Blue2Hotspot is a program for automatically turning on an access point (Hotspot) when connected to certain Bluetooch devices.
Languages: English, Russian (translation planned)
It happens that you get tired of doing the same thing and constantly get into the car, look for your phone, turn on the access point, and so on every day. I decided to write a small application to automate these actions. To enable the access point, you need permission - location (I myself think this is nonsense). The program does not write your data or send it anywhere. All other permissions are needed to keep Android from being unloaded from the system.
Some water. Since the parents bought a car and there is a large screen, you can launch the navigator and all sorts of online services, but how to turn on the access point turned out to be more difficult to teach, since a couple of weeks will pass and the call "how to turn on Wi-Fi". And I decided to write a small application.
Instructions
Make pairing with Bluetooth and Wifi device.
Install Blue2Hotspot, give permission.
Make settings and select your Bluetooth device.
Click on the Start service button
That's it, the service will work on this; now, when connected to the device, the access point will turn on.

Thanks for the very useful app, that works very well. I tried a couple of others before finding this that didn't work.
Would it be possible to select multiple BT devices so that it could be used in more than one car?
After using Blue2Hotspot for a couple of weeks I'm an absolute fan of it. Annexhack, you have programmed a really useful program, easy to handle for beginners too. I second the requst from kk131 and add: I'd like to donate a beer to you, let us know how to do. Thanks
Bye for now Fred
