easy way to remove apk's from rom - EVO 4G Android Development

the way i remove apk's from a rom is put rom on sd card make sure you have astro open astro then open zip and select multi and tap the files u dont need or want hit delete it will take a few minutes when done not only does the rom size get smaller u will have more memory. I know alot of people us titanium but all it does is remove temp, if u have to reload because of problem u have to do it again, this way the files are out perm. Also if u have any apk's you want to add all u have to do is copy and move to system apps and it will load on rom. if any questions or confusion u can pm me.

deletd post

Nice rom, any screen shots?

Curious. When you open zip to add apps, doesn't it need to be re-signed or anything? Been curious about that for a while.
And yes, I know this should be general, or Q&A.

It depends on your recovery version.
Signature itself doesnt do anything, its just extra protection for bad, interrupted, corrupted downloads

This Rom is so good that Dirky traded his 3d for an Evo just to flash this. I will be donating

I'm only getting 4 days of heavy usage with this rom and the stock battery. Is there a fix?

[MOD] init.d Tweaks

So many of you may or may not know, but thanks to drhonk we now have init.d support for our roms
init.d is a folder in your system/etc area and its a folder that can contain different kinds of tweaks such as:
startup tweaks
ram boosters
performance tweaks
etc
How do i use it? simply by having drhonks 2.1 kernel and the init.d folder(with whatever tweaks you may like) in system/etc
Here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ja5t131d395blty/init.d.zip
is an init.d folder with tweaks from: darky, the bionix frost rom and the trigger rom, all in one folder
just unzip using file expert or whatever you use, and place init.d in system/etc then reboot
Thanks to:
darky for rambooster
birge and edt for tweaks
and teamwhiskey/ drhonk
and the rest of the community
Copied it to /system/etc ..rebooting

How do I tell if its working?
doesn't appear to be a folder within the archive. just the files. if i rename it, it just shows up as a file, not a folder. am i doing something wrong?
Should I...
A) create the init.d folder manually and extract the files into it
B) move the .zip file and rename it even though it doesn't show up as a folder
As above, how do we tell if it's working?
Thanks!

although apps do re-open almost immediately, some apps stay closed.. my phone bogs when i have alot of apps open, especially when i try to use intensive apps.
that being said i dont use the task killer much to free up memory but to kill apps right before i lock my phone- saving me alot of battery while my phone sleeps.
the article talks alot about processes but i dont go crazy with auto kill and advanced options.. bc they do create instability..
the truth is even the stock rom includes a built in task killer, as do many high end android phones, along with a task manager widget..
Just downloaded and will post my opinions asap. Thanks alot for this and for sharing it with the community! This baby just keeps getting better and i'm already woopin ass on everyone's phones that i know. Out preforms anything im coming across!

One of three things:
1) push the tweaks into system/etc/init.d
2) if you do not have init.d folder create it and push the tweaks there
3) push the init.d folder from the download as a whole instead of just the tweaks into system/etc

So I'm attempting to create themes for ICBINB with the new tw support on UOT Kitchen, but it seems to keep losing the twframework file everytime. Has anyone else experienced this or even tried it?

Are you talking about it changing the name to framework-res.apk? If so you just rename it back to twframework-res.apk and your good. Just push it to system/framework. Of course that's after you extract it.

I've only been cooking the regular framework-res files, haven't tried a tw file through UOT yet. I've been changing them manually, because there were only a few things I wanted to change
I am so lost with this uot thing. haha. i have been trying for 2 days. I did everything the site said but when I go to recovery and install the zip, nothing happens. I am currenty running the ICBINB rom. If this rom isn't compatible to use the UOT which one is, if any? Or how do I go about changing colors and stuff? I am sorry to post a "noob" question, I really have been trying for days to do it by myself!
Oh forgot to mention, it did change the font. But that is it.
Try manually pushing it to the system instead of flashing it then reboot
dumb question, but what do you mean manually push it? I just want to make sure I do everything right Thanks!

You manually push files by using a root explorer. Copy and paste/overwrite it into the proper folder it's supposed to be into. For instance, pushing an apk would require you to copy it and paste it into /system/app.
oooh! lol so I just take the two framework files and put them on my sd card, then overwrite the ones already therE?
Got it now! Everything is awesome, just didn't change the boot animation, but I can live with that!

You can try my rom.... catyrom or any of the i9000 ports...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I currently have tried refuse 1.7, caty 1.0 & 1.5; currently running caty 1.5. I would recommend caty rom, the only thing I notice is the data sometimes cuts out and I have to restart my phone, also it shows the rom as "caty v2.0" in the "about" section of the phone, but the post says 1.5 so I am not sure what it is. But it's very simple to install and to run. Just make sure you follow directions to a T. When it says to let it reboot and sit for ten minutes actually do it. DONT FORGET TO HAVE A BACKUP IN CWM. Make sure it's rooted, I tried to root mine with Superoneclick and it didn't root properly, I had to use the odin with 3e recovery and root preset, then I was able to install roms. Good luck to you.
Yea...sorry...need to fix build prop...lol...keep forgetting to do that...and the service cutting out may just be the modem...

Are you using ROM Manager? if so, that is probably why you can't get it to work. just 3 button into recovery mode, go to backup and restore, and click backup. It should take a little while to work, and you can watch it go through all of the files as it backs them up.

It is also helpful to create a folder on the SD card named "1 rom" so you can keep all your downloaded roms in one place and then you also don't have to scroll far with the volume keys since the folder will be at the top of the list all the time

On Valhalla Black, it didn't install correctly. None of the files contained in the zip are actually there after flashing it.
After reading the original thread, this appears to be a known problem with the installer script.

I'll delete the files it placed and see if it made a difference, but I know after I flashed it I had to turn off my EQ cause my speakers started popping, so it must have done something.
thats because yoru going to wind up with 2 versions of the lib cyogin dsp lib visualalizer etc so on so forth
as it copies them to the lib directory when in fact it resides in lib/soundfx
update put the files where i beleve they should reside dont really hear any diffrence when trying to activate dsp it causes the dsp to force close after about 20 seconds time to logcat

it doesnt delete anything from VB You will wind up with 2 copies of the files in the lib folder
the ones in the lib sfx folder are what came with vb
the ones that are identically named like libcygwin so etc that are in the lib folder are the ones that were copied from the flashable...
as i said its makeing 2 copies because it doesnt modify the origonal it just causes a resource conflct as u have 2 files of the same type in 2 locations trying to do the same thing

it does require dsp activation for the files to actually start doing anything as its an effect based process
