Hey, just got my Sensation today (loving it). Coming from 2 previous HD2's both using Cyanogen (primarily). Anyways, I've had THIS headset for a few months now, worked perfectly fine with my HD2('s) never had a problem. Now, with the Sensation, it works like it's supposed to with music and phone audio, everything sounds great. But here's the problem now, anytime an alarm goes off, or i get a text message, (not sure about calls, didn't get a call today while using the headset) or any type of notification sound (email, low battery, etc...) it plays the sound in my headset, but also from the handset as well, which, isn't a good thing, cause it's supposed to be a semi-quiet workplace, and it's kind of embarrassing when your sitting there quietly listening to Pandora, and Metal Gear Solid alert sound effects start going off when you wife texts you...
TL;DR: Old HD2 played ALL sounds through my bluetooth headset ONLY. New Sensation plays notification sounds in BOTH headset and handset.
Shameless self bump? Been a long while since I've used xda, don't remember if self bumping is frowned upon. If so, I apologize, but anyone have any ideas?
Also mini update. The same situation happens on my wifes mytouch, I get notification sounds from both headset and handset.

A solution is at hand
I had the opposite problem, in that I wanted the sound to come out of both headset and phone, and it was only coming out the headset. Problematic when both phone and headset were in my pocket...
Go to Home > menu > Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Sound, and down a ways you'll see a section titled "Always play on speaker" with three checkboxes for Notifications, Ring tones & Alarms. Frob these and your problem will be solved.
Sound
I think this Sensation phone has a problem with its sounds in general. When i put a call on speaker witha the volume all the way up its still very hard to here the conversation. Has anyone had this issue?

Hello,
I am a proud owner of a couple Android Phones since the HTC G1, the HTC Magic and so goes on.
Now I was very excited to get the Nexus S, but on the first day of use, after making all the updates to 2.3.2 and installing all my usual apps, I noticed a crackling sound when hearing music from the speakers.
I can not find the reason of this but would like to know if someone had a problem similar to mine, and if yes, if it was possible to solve it.
There are some facts about this crackling noise that I point as follow:
- The crackling sound is not present all the times. The phone works well when playing shorts sounds like ringtones and notifications. I can hear everything crystal clear;
- When I start to hear a song (tried many different players, all the same problem), or when I am playing a game that uses constant music or sound effects, the crackling sound starts after some minutes of perfect sound (usually between 01:00 and 01:30 of good playing);
- It seems like a irregular white noise, like playing a corrupted MP3 file, that gets in the middle of the media;
- It beguns with a low volume compared to the media and gets louder as time passes, until it gets more frequent and as louder as the music playing;
- At first I thought of a broken speaker, and checked the headphones, but the crackling sound appears when listening music on both headphones and external speakers;
- Then I noticed the crackling sound appears on long voice calls too.
Well... I thought it could be something related to the software, so tried the OEM recovery process (Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset), but it was not sucessfull.
[Q] Does anyone had a problem like mine?
[Q] Could someone point what could be the cause of it or a possible solutions?
Thanks in advance.
Jon
I noticed the same thing while listening to Pandora. Not sure what's going on. I'm on Modaco and don't know if its something in there or not.
I hear the noise after about 30 minutes of pandora.
I'm having the same issue running Modaco while listening to music via Spotify.
Just got back to the stock ROM, I'll see if it's any better and keep you guys posted.
I can now confirm that stock ROM is not affected by this issue.

Hi All,
First off, I'm not bashing this device. WAY better then others I've used in the past and performance is nice and snappy! I'm really happy that the geniuses here at xdev have come up with some alternative roms to push the envelope for us and this phone. I'm running Lithium 1.2.1 and love it!
The main thing that really irks me about this phone is the complete lack of audio feedback in many areas. On my Dell Streak and Samsung Captivate, when I went into settings, sound, and checked all the boxes under Feedback, IT WORKED. When I change the settings for whatever keyboard I was using (Swype, Go Keyboard, Thumb keyboard, Swiftkey, etc) and enabled sound ON - IT WORKED. When a Bluetooth headset connected - ALL SOUNDS WENT TO THE HEADSET! Notifications, ringtones, screen clicks, screen lock sound - ALL SOUND.
NONE OF THIS WORKS ON THE ATRIX 2. The only notifications that go to the headset is the incoming call alert (but NOT the actual ringtone) - no notifications on anything else ever go out to the headset - only the phone speaker.... Playing music works great, and phone operations work great. ANYTHING ELSE JUST PLAIN DOESN'T WORK AS EXPECTED.
I've been trying to find a good notification system that can announce calls and read my incoming text messages - NONE OF THEM WORK. oh sure, I can initiate a command and the bluetooth mic works but audio feedback DOESN'T. Skyvi, EVA, AVX, Andy, you name it I've tried it. It acts like it did everything but it never makes it to the bluetooth stack. I'll unlock my screen to find one of these voice assistants sitting on a "Do you wish to reply?" after it supposedly announced my message..... I've tried stock 2.3.5, 2.3.6, and every custom rom available but NO DICE. They all act the same - it seems the entire bluetooth audio stack/stream is spotty at best. and AVRCP response is spotty as well. Sometimes I have to hit my PLAY/PAUSE button 3 times to get the sound to come out in my headset... The first push wakes up my phone (which also makes no sense) and I've found that it actually starts playing the file previously selected - BUT NO SOUND. So I have to hit PLAY/PAUSE again (this pauses the silently playing track) and then hit PLAY/PAUSE again - NOW I GET MUSIC. Pausing a playing file is the same. First tap of PLAY/PAUSE wakes up the phone, 2nd tap asserts control of the music player (in this case Google Play Music but I've tried them all) and MAYBE the 3rd tap will actually PAUSE the music! FRUSTRATING!!! Especially if you listen to audio books!!
Don't get me started on the "now it's working, now it isn't" Haptic Feedback!
<stepping off soapbox>
I know most users don't really hit the bluetooth stack hard. Anyone out there seeing the same things as I am? Everything else seems to work flawlessly.
I have the audio problem as well. My haptic feedback works fine. I get notification sounds, when my notifications (fb and twitter) want to work. Everything else is pretty decent. Weird things: if I hold the phone too tight in landscape mode, the screen won't move, at all...
Personally I hate having my phone make noise, so i turn it all off and it's not a problem.

Wow... now there's one I haven't heard before! Mine is in an otterbox case but I'll have to try that....
I get notification sounds from everything... just not over bluetooth... it's frustrating.....

yep, my sound profile is as follows: Ringtone-alert bright but normally only vibrate
notifications- silent
never will my phone make noise for notifications, that's important when you are in school!
My sounds are intermittent. The screen unlock sound never works. Sometimes the plugged in charger sound works, sometimes it doesn't. There is no unplug charger sound. The haptic feedback is so weak I can barely feel it. Making selections in the app drawer never makes a sound. These are all set to ON.
If this thread was intended to be a 'question' you should have posted it in the Q&A Section, otherwise you probably should edit the title of this thread...
I dont think i have any problems with notifications, i prefer my phone to be wuiet all other times

I have similar sound experiences but I use a wired headset and don't care much for all the notifications (switched em off) so its not that big an irk for me.. My sometime-ish wifi on the other hand, THAT'S a different matter

my old HTC Aria would send all sounds, even notifications, through my bluetooth speakerphone adapter for the car. So, I could be listening to music, and hear my email notification tone, then the music would play again. I was using CM7.1 on the Aria.
So far, the Skyrocket does not do this no matter which ROM I've used. I will be listening to music through car speakers, then hear the phone speaker play my email notification, then my car speakers play music again. It's a bit odd. I haven't used CM on it, because it doesn't appear to be a "daily driver"...
Any word on if the thing will do it, or how to make it happen?
I'm fairly sure all my ROM's have done this. My stereo is a JVC.
One ROM and I wish I knew which it was, would even give my GPS a separate volume indicator so I could make the GPS much louder than the music.
None of the ROM's I've tried since then do that. They all put everything into one single Bluetooth volume.
I am using stock unrooted UCLE2, I think its called, and it works for me through the Bluetooth stereo in my Camry.

Our note ank skyrocket both do this. It has something to do with system media but i have not had time to look into it. Back when I was playing I noticed that if you use an app like zedge or video caller id to set the notification it plays over bt or headphones...if you set through system menu it plays through phone only Or sometimes you get both...

So I'm new to Android and I've had the GS3 for a few weeks now. I'm liking it so far, but I've noticed something about the GS3 that is kind of annoying..
When I have headphones or a 3.5mm cord plugged into the jack music plays through the headphones or car speakers fine. However, things like notifications, incoming call ringtones and even sms text tones all still play through the phone speaker. Even though it quiets the music through the headphones those audio notifications do not come through the headphones.
Is there a way to change this? Seems really silly.

Hi, not familiar with the GS3 but there are a number of Android ROM's but the basics are pretty much standard.
I would suggest playing around the Profile area rather than the Sound settings.
From your home screen Select Menu then Settings, or just Settings from your Apps page, then go to Profiles rather than Sounds, there is a myriad of setting there. Have a play around.
Hope this helps
Kind Regards

Ok, so here is the Scenario, I'm in the gym and using my phone to listen to music...
First I put my phone on Silent (so it doesn't ring during my work out and annoy everyone around me)
Next I turn on Bluetooth and connect my stereo Bluetooth headphones to my phone
Now I'm listening to music and all is well... AWESOME
Here is the weird thing..... Whenever I get a call.... technically my phone is silent so it should not be ringing, right? But what does happen is first I get a beeping in my headphones, which is fine..... but then the Music automatically switches and it starts blaring through the phone's speakers, and this goes on until I either answer the call or ignore the call, then the music reverts back to my headphones as it was before the call.
My question, why does the music revert from bluetooth to the phone's speakers when I Get a call and my phone is on silent - Its sooo freaking annoying, this also happens with my bluetooth car kit. Any ideas whats going on?
Can't help you solve the issue but I do know for a fact my galaxy nexus did the exact same thing. I gave up on bluetooth.

I just started using a temporary fix.... I noticed this ONLY happens when the phone is on SILENT or VIBRATE (doesn't happen when its on RING since it just rings normally)....
So what I did was setup a Smart Action clause which when connected to my stereo bluetooth headset, which I pretty much only use when I'm working out, it will keep the phone on RING but turn the volume as low as possible without making it silent and it will also automatically switch to a very quiet barely audible ringtone!
This works for me!
