is it possible ....... - HTC Sensation

to remove the vodafone rubbish of the sensation
i know it's not a rootable phone ATM but is there a way to put unbranded software on the phone ???

You can't remove the Vodafone stuff on the phone.
You can put unbranded software on the phone via your own apks, or downloading from the market. Obviously some of these apps need root, but thats a different story.

I am using golauncher and you can hide the icons. That may relieve the issue short term.
Out of sight out of mind!

Task Killer

Does anyone know of an App killer that will not allow certain apps to start up and run in the background, IE; bloatware?
Thanks for the help.
Freeze them with tibu

Sorry, I should have mentioned I am not rooted. Going to try Auto Task Killer
I use Task Manager, very similar to Auto Task Killer
Task managers are counter productive on Android.

Why not just root the phone? That seems like a great solution for removing the bloatware.

I am not real comfortable with any of the process's yet. I tried one click and was never able to move off of the Desire (no sound) ROM, so I returned the phone and go another one. I come from a Captivate that I Rooted hundreds of times, with no incident. So hopefuly a more automated version will come out to Root the Inspire

Don't mean to derail but I wouldnt bet on any easier methods. The
rom must be downgraded to root.

If you're holding out for a root method for the Inspire that is as true "one-click" as the captivate, you'll be waiting indefinitely.
There are fundamental differences between the two phones in terms of root-ability.
Seriously, the inspire is completely rootable. Your inspire is no less rootable than mine was or any others who have had success.
If the root process fails for you, it is because you overlooked something. Bubbys tool, along with Zonderion's video, produced a rooted phone, with fully functioning sound, for me, and many others.
Having TiBU functioning and able to remove bloat was the primary reason I wanted to root. You will never truly and completely be free of the bloat unless you root.
A properly-made gold card is CRITICAL (format FAT32, allocation size = 32KB).
Having JUST the drivers, without HTCSync installed, "safely removing hardware" (unmounting) the card before switching the USB mode, and basically giving it the chance to do its work, even if it seems like its taking too long, are all things (among others) that need to happen in order for the process to properly complete.
Zonderion's video, if you replicate the actions you see him doing EXACTLY, even down to the way he formats the SD card, will work for you, assuming you starting from a fresh phone.
The only thing I did different than him was use a 4gb card instead of an 8gb card.

Market has vodafone branding

Decided to go onto the markeylt to have a look for some alps as you do when I noticed the now on the market where it has the 3 short cut options apps games and my apps now shoes apps games and vodafone.... On there is a bunch of apps they reccomend, apps I already know about and don't use because I don't want to so I was a little annoyed to see the my apps button removed
You branded vodafone

I have a thread open about this. Restart the phone and it goes back to normal. I don't think we were supposed to see this yet. I'm expecting it to become permanent in the future, perhaps to coincide with a ROM update.

Fyi, my unbranded Sensation has HTC in the Market, instead of Vodafone!
Regards,
Dave
Yeah, seems OEMs/Operators are starting to link into the apps more
Restarted phone branding is still there, yet maybe with the post above having htc this is staying regardless I want my apps back lol

It is there, Menu>My Apps
Did you restart or shutdown? Shutdown will not make any difference

Unbranded handsets still say 'HTC' instead of My Apps - looks like it's going no matter what
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15401386&postcount=15
Ive just noticed an app in my app drawer called Vodafone Rescue. Im sure it wasnt there before. As anyone else got this?
Found its description HERE.
I think it can be uninstalled but im sure ive never noticed that before.
yea you are right this wasnt there before, I noticed this on my first sensation when I sent it back and got a new one it wasnt there, it appeared when I had to restart my phone, the Vodafone Branding came on the market and the Rescue service also appeared.
I assume its remote access if you are having problems, voda can take controle of your phone and sort any issues.
Can it be related to which SIM card you have in your phone? I have a Vodafone branded Sensation but still with the SIM card of my current operator (going to Vodafone in a month) and in the market it still says My Apps.
I would assume that vodafone send down some form of 'Ping' at some point that adds Vodafone Rescue and changes the market menu link, but I cant be 100% sure, but I would assume it has something to do with the sim
Unbranded FW now says 'HTC' instead of My Apps but you can still get it by going Menu>My Apps
cheers eddie, i feel the removal of apps on android is a drawn out task, I know using launcher pro enables you to drag and drop apps inot the bin to uninstall but I would think this should be a standard feature
Just had this chat with Htc:
I do have rescue but i can't see any changes to the market, and i have restarted phone recently.... Hmmm....
the quicker we get s-off with perma root, the better. I dont like how vodafone have the ability and right to install their crap without permission or warning, on a device I own and that I have paid for.
Custom unbranded rom please!

Sorry to hear it. the only program I know of that I can look at texts without the phone knowing is cerberus & that's only the least 8-10.
How does that work

Can't you see the to/from on your bill? I'm sprint and I can see this --not actual words but texts to/from numbers
Then use reverse lookup to get info, or google

it's actually an app that tracks your phone, can show call logs/texts, & what not. I use it in case my phone is ever stolen & it's way better than HTC's htcsense.com site.
for your case, you'd need to install it on her phone & then you can do with it what you want. There's a 7 day trial for it. If you send the command to get texts the phone doesn't know it. Also, you can make it hide the program from the app drawer so that it doesn't look like it's installed.
I know this isn't the intended use, but it may help you out

[Q] what did I freeze?!?!

I have unlocked my phone and installed Titanium, I went through and froze a bunch of apps, and now I dont get a notification when I get a voicemail.... Does anyone have any idea what I froze that I shouldnt have?
I am on a T-mo US phone.
Thanks
Bill

Im aware how to unfreeze apps, what I am trying to avoid is having to go through unfreezing every single frozen app to figure what app needs to be on..... Does anyone have an idea what I might have frozen and need to unfreeze to get the voicemail icon back?
No ideas??

[Q] Call policy

Oke folks i have a simple question.
I need a WORKING call policy app, i dont care whether paid or free. I've tried several apps from Android Market but theres one problem with them, neither runs in background or automatically starts after phone restart. Even if the description says they do ... they dont, like Call Manager PRO for instance. All i need from this app is when i set up a time interval, example 8PM-8AM, only certain phone numbers will be able to call me/reach me in this time period, rest will get either redirected or sent back SMS with some random "not available, will call laters" sms. I was getting through out the Sensation apps and setting and theres nothing like that build-in by default, unlike iPhone for example.
Is it realy so hard to find a working app, which doesnt autoclose when i start another app or auto starts after phone restart. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Use root call blocked pro. I have been using it for a month now. Works for me.

I use Call Filter, but it does not have time of day scheduling like you want. I have been using this one for years on 3 different phones and it does what I need it to do.
Maybe this one?
