Right now I'm a little bit confused. When I slide out the gamepad and the Xperia Play App appears, I've got access to all games developed to XP. In the top right corner there is a link to the Android Market where it lists the "Xperia Play Optimized" Apps.
Here's my question, why there are some games there are listed on the Android Market that do not appear in the XP App? For example Baseball Superstars 2011, just to mention the first I found in the list.
I understand why some games don't appear on Android Market (ex. Gameloft's), but the opposite I can't understand why.
This is confusing and doesn't make much sense. Not to mention the PS Pocket games, if this is a Playstation certified device, PS games should be the first to appear when the gamepad is open.
I end with a suggestion, why not reunite all games together when the slide is open, PS Pocket included.
And that is, not counting the PlayNow market. Sony should cut on the different markets' malarky.
Yes, I forgot the Play Now market. For me it's just another useless app on my phone.
I got rid of that play now piece of ****, yeah I dunno, it would have been better to have the slide out with XP games on one tab down the bottom and PS1 games on the other, and in order to buy more games, have a button in the top right (like now)! Then do away with the 2 other markets...!
I bought morden combat 2 on my old phone thur market and when I try to search for it in market its not there anymore only in xperia play market which there makin me buy again is there a way around that
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
To show up in the Xperia Play app directly, app developers need to submit their apps directly to Sony Ericsson. That's why not all apps in the Market show up.

E-mail Gameloft?
I guess it's because the version you buy in the Xperia Play market is the Xperia Play optimized one, and the non-optimized versions will not appear anywhere.

Apple and Android market the crap out of how many millions of apps they have.
Truth is, most of them are useless.
Probably 99.99% of them are total crud

Yeah, I thought it was something like that. Shame on the developers then

Just wondered how I can add some of my games not showing into my Play Launcher? I bought NFS: Shift and works but doesn't show in the launcher which is annoying as the demo did!?
I'd also like to add my emu's and a few other games to it if I can?
I think that we need to modify the PlayLauncher for custom apps :>
As atm you cant add anything on your own
Hey FK,
I was surfing for a similar answer as to why my Launcher isn't showing the latest games & stumbled across your answer in the SE forums from an admin:
-------------
Maybe you could try to clear data in the Xperia PLAY app.
Menu > Settings > Applications > Xperia PLAY > Clear data.
Check if that might help.
If not, try to download the update for the Xperia PLAY app. Search Market for "Xperia PLAY games launcher" and install the update.
-------------
As for your other answer, I don't know how to add additional items into that menu. I manually installed the NFL demo before & I had to copy a ".so" file into one of the system folders for it to show up on the launcher but sounds like hard work to figure out whats in the .so file. Search for the NFL demo if u are feeling brave.

Have you tested this? working?
That doesn't appear to be the case. Android seems to tell the app whenever a new package is installed or removed, at which point it decides whether it should be added to the list of games. I'm looking deeper into how this all works.
Games for sale are essentially pulled down from an RSS feed. If your provider has its own store, it can have its own feed as well (which is what Rogers does).
There's a database called content.db that the app uses to populate the user's personal library of games. Game names, package names, install time, last run time, whether there's a manual with it, whether there's an icon or badge, etc.. Now to find out how it decides to put data into that database.
It has its own internal whitelist and blacklist. Whitelist consists of all packages starting with "com.gameloft." and "com.ea." and the blacklist contains "com.ea.tetris" since it doesn't have Xperia Play support.
Found in its testing database for the Xperia Play app: "Super Street Fighter 2 Alpha Turbo Ultra Remix Deluxe Extra Very Long Title Edition" lol
There's a set of different data sources that the app uses to populate its list of games. It looks like PSN will be one of them. There's a class for PSN data sources, however it basically has no real code in it and always returns void. It also has two empty methods, get price and get currency. Don't be surprised if linking to your PSN account is one of the big announcements Sony's been hinting we'll get at E3 (but not without an updated launcher first).
Not all gameloft games appear in the launcher, only xperia play enabled games, maybe if you decompile an experia play enabled .apk, you might find somthing.

I uninstalled Fifa & the other bundled game to reinstall again under setinstalllocation2 but neither have ever shown up in the Play menu since.
Someone managed to solve this problem.
The games also have installed do not appear in the menu of play
Sorry for the poor english
thank you
I don't know, most games optimized for the Xperia Play show up in the Pocket app, Even Minecraft.
Sorry to bump this but is this possible?
To add a game to the Xperia Play Games Launcher?

Good job necro-ing this thread...
The basic answer is that the APK for whatever game has to have a string in it that marks it as Xperia Play optimized. Look for the thread with the Xperia Play touchpad tester. His later version shows up in the Play launcher when it is installed. I think he managed to get all of this from the SDK. So basically, it is up to the developer to include the string (and most just don't know about it).
Can we force add things in? Not really, unless you want to decompile the apk's and add stuff in and then recompile them. Not worth it really. Easier to get a custom secondary launcher instead.
Like wich???

oh my God did you read anything I said? I said ever since flashing to stock u.k. 2.33 the get games/xperia play games application doesn't work. when I click on a game there is just takes me the general website. for example if I click on asphalt 6 it just takes me to gameloft. com. same thing with EA games.
I would email them and tell them you have an Xperia play.they should send you a code to download from their website

that's the thing when I try to go to their website on my play it says my handset is not supported.
How do I contact EA mobile?
Hi all,
For those of you who love order and chaos this is a big day
Update 1.0.8 (patched I think ) brings back our beloved gamepad!!
Just start O&C, download the new update and install.
Everything is working fine so far, it shows up in the game launcher and the gameloft store says compatible and able to purchase again (when you go there by your launcher)
Note: What I did was, clear O&C cache, delete datafolder, uninstall game, then reinstall.

ty for info brotha,
I have only Thema Market Version. Installed again... First one free month gametime ;-)
Version is 1.0.8 and touchpad controls works but is not playable. The controls are very confused and buggy
Anyone have the same problem?

Did you wiped game data (could be in sdcard/gameloft ( old versions ) and sdcard/android/data ! ) cleared cache and deleted app ?.
For me gameloft games gets fuzzy when old versions and files are still there. So make sure you delete everything game related.
Also I noticed when you pauze and start the download your game files get messed up with force close issues etc. So make sure you download the files in one row without stopping it. ( This is what I experience with buggy gameloft games )
Damn XDA is fast.
I fell asleep on the data download, and meant to post this very thread after confirming that the controls were indeed, back.
Very good news though!
I can confirm that the controls are back. Sweet. Thank you GL but I have to say... about frelling time. (Frell.... a little Farscape nod)
I cant see it in the launcher and the one from the market doesnt suport the controls...

As a general rule, I'd always recommend buying Android Market versions over anything else.
EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF GAMELOFT. What Gameloft puts on the Android Market is almost always some outdated ****; and if you're an Xperia PLAY owner, you'll find less than 5 of Gameloft's 24 Xperia PLAYable titles.
I really can't stress how relieved I am to have this working again. The touch screen controls were killin' me, and then they released an update that made it seriously unplayable.
Only complaint I have now is that, for some reason, that damn 19MB of phone storage consumption is back. They already have 1GB of the game's data moved to the SD, take that other 19MB with it! That's about 10-30 more app installs I could have.

Hi all,
I'm a new SmartWatch 2 user and I've already gone through and installed the very limited amount of apps that are interesting for me.
What I am struggling with is a single place to go to new apps. Is this something I can do in the Play Store? Doesn't seem very easy if there is.
A central hub with new apps for the watch would make things a lot easier - reviews not essential, but would be useful.

This is the most selective search for SW2 apps on Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q="smartwatch 2"&c=apps
I couldn't find a better way...
You also can search with "liveware"
I find it easiest to go to the smartwatch application (fastest way to get there is by tapping on the 'SW2 connected' message in the notification pull-down) and select search for applications that are optimized for the SW2. This is at the top of the list of applications that are already installed.
Fred
I'm working on a portal for Smartwatch apps. I will post about it here when ready
Sounds good. The Play store needs an option to look for Smartwatch apps or a category.

So - any news?
I think there should be two main caegories:
1) Apps FOR the smartwatch
2) Apps for Anndroid btw supporting smartwatch (apps for phone having some SW2 support)
There is this app that you could try to make things a little easier but, it's not all that great. Still better than doing it manually on your phone from the Play Store though: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=blukzapps.smartwatch.sony&hl=en
So it looks like north American servers are shut down and ps1 games are pretty much impossible to get. Does anyone have old versions or a way to purchase them from Europe servers?

You could try creating a new Google account and setting it for UK. Then use a VPN for UK and try to search for ps1 games in Google play. I used to do this setup years ago to get Japanese xperia play games.

Memory serves me they do have some games that we didn't get. But can't remember what off hand. I k ow if you download the SO-01D xperia play ftf and extract there was a golf game in addition to crash bandicoot. Also you will need to download a app called:
Market enabler
http://ppl.ug/2NxeO4cBg_k/
Then you need to use the JPN sim code for DoCoMo
market enabler docomo 44010
Be advised market enabler does not work on firmware JB and up. So GB only.
Let me know how it goes. Also if possible a japanese VPN would do wonders to really get around region issues of you look around online there are some free ones.

I never had to worry about using a Japanese keyboard might be best to try and see if you can find a website that lists PlayStation 1 games for the Xperia Play with their market links and see what you could find from that route I know a lot of cases I had to actually bring up or email myself the market link to my gmail but make sure if and when you find a market link that you're not signed into Google so it doesn't know what region your in. So basically look for a Japanese PlayStation 1 games on the Japanese market find the links saving to a notepad sign into Gmail and email those links to yourself and then try to open them that way from within your Xperia Play with the Japanese VPN and market enabler
I was able to find WipEout:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sony.playstation.NCEA00010_0&hl=en
Syphon Filter 3
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sony.playstation.NCEA03697_0
I'll give that a try us the Europe ones weren't to hard to find I've got :
Destruction Derby
Jumping flash(really addicting)
Syphon filter 1 and 3
And medievil
As well as wipeout from scea before the American server closed
Games in the Europe store I don't have are golf, cool boarders and a ball game I can't remember. Wasn't there a rally racer game when xperia play first launched still looking for that. I think they also made silent hill but it got pulled from psm still trying to find that. I'll try the Japan thing. I got German store to but it's just the euro store. Looked at the docomo Ftf but only saw crash not sure if I downloaded stock.
