A thought - T-Mobile LG G2x

When all the hype of the sensation and G2x settles down and G2x gets Gingerbread, I think people are going to start choosing G2x over Sensation and devs should start (again) developing like crazy for the G2x since it will be running vanilla gingerbread with the super awesome Tegra 2.
Anyway, I think people is comparing the two phones and will be for like a full month and then will see people settling with either one of the two and a personally G2x will be the keeper.
I'm pretty confident and happy with my purchase since release date, 4/20.

Exactly, this was my strategy from launch day. To have vanilla Gingergread running on the G2x's Tegra 2 by summertime. The long term potential of this device is excellent.

This is what led me to buy it in the first place. I wish more people could see this instead of giving up so quickly.

Actually, I think we are better off without the people who are giving up. The people leaving in a large part are people who will never be satisfied with the phone. Either they bought it because it was the new super phone and were disappointed with Vanilla Android, or they expected perfection and were disillusioned by a few bugs. I do have to acknowledge there are a few who did get genuinely bad devices (sometimes more than once). Their departure is perhaps regrettable. But by and large we are better off without them. I also think it is a much smaller minority than it appears. Due to the highly vocal nature of those who have moved (or are moving) on.
With the detractors mostly gone and their phones in the hands of others who will appreciate them more, I believe we will be a stronger community.
Just my opinion...of course...

It's true. I just want people to experience what this phone will be because it's a powerful and good looking piece of hardware. The software will only keep getting better, and that will be an awesome combination.

Lol yes. Let those people go. We dont care! Love my g2x!

Need advice - want to act today

Anyone think battery life will be tolerable when the official gingerbread is out?
(I havent been actively seeking a gingerbread rom for a while)
tmobile is offering to trade for an htc sensation and I want to pull the trigger today.
Overall, I love the aesthetics of the device, I just need your opinions. I'm getting a bit impatient and might consider the sensation which I hear has decent battery life.
your thoughts on the switch/htc sensation? thanks everyone.
do it wisest choice you will make all year. unfortunately for the believers GB will probably not be released anytime soon especially not this famous june 21 the start of summer and if it is just to make more g2x owners angry tmobile or lg will probably only fix a few of the complaints about the phone.
Yes, please swap for the Sensation.
How'd you get them to do that?

G2X has decent battery life if properly set up and no battery eating apps running in the background.
I may be a lucky one, but I get 20-30 hours on a single charge
did it
I got the sensation.
Anyway, the employee had good things to say about the eaglesblood gingerbread rom. I was real tempted to keep mine and flash it. It solved every issue he's had with the phone. So far, he's been running it a couple of days. I really think the lg design is league above the htc phone, the htc looks like every other htc phone out there, mundane.
oh well, I was thinking the resale value down the road would be better, especially if the g2x has been pulled for good.
I would lay it down like this:
Just tell them that you were told the software update would solve the issues, it didnt, the rollout of the latest is far from being released, and you passed your buyers remorse period as a result of waiting for the software, or more devices in my case.
Good luck.

I've seen you post this advice a few times now. Just curious why you're so sold on the Sensation over the G2X? I'm not knocking the Sensation as a good phone, but I don't think its going to necessarily be the solution to all phone problems either. Just curious your thoughts.

Ah, someone finally noticed. I was just being positive. If someone posted they wanted a Sensation, then by all means go for it. Think of it this way...asking in a G2x forum about whether or not to go to another phone, most people would just flame away. I'm all for pushing folks to what they want instead. It'll cut down on these threads too

I am always amazed how emotionally involved some people get with these phones. While I get excited about cool tech devices, if it doesn't work for me then I either return it or sell it and get something different. I don't understand some people getting so bent out of shape over a phone that they don't like. If I don't like the food at a particular restaurant I just stop eating there. There are plenty of other restaurants out there. If I didn't like my phone then I'd just get a different one. There are plenty of options.

It's probably because they REALLY like this phone and want to keep it by all means, so they keep punishing themselves by waiting for a GB release that would solve any problems they are experiencing. And during this punishment they need to ***** about their painful daily experience

But its okay ... because EVERYTHING "wrong" with their G2X will be fixed by getting a Sensation. Us poor G2X owners will have to keep suffering in cellular starvation, all the while watching from afar as our enlightened brethren enjoy their manna from Heaven (aka - Sensation).

I agree with the theory of encouraging people to bail for the sensation. For those that can not figure out what to do, I say go for it. Get the Sensation.
These threads seem odd to me. I have never posted a question about what to do with my money on the Internet. It is just weird. I guess some just have issues with making up their mind and need the cyber world to help them. I blame ADHD and energy drinks.
Once all the updates are in, I'm sure the G2x will turn out to be a better phone than the Sensation.
yeah people are die hards over technology that is obsolete in a couple of months.
After one day with the sensation, I miss the g2x, even with its issues. (mine software related)
If you are happy with the g2x, my advice would be to keep it, the sensation is not really and upgrade if you know what I mean. If you are keen on the design of the g2x, which I think is awesome and feels great in the hand, you would hate the sensation.

Get sensation again or samsung hercules maybe?

Hey people, this is my first post ever, but I've lurked for awhile so hello!
Anyway, I had the sensation a few weeks ago for 12 days then decided to return it because I wasn't too high on sense and coming from my rooted and rom'd vibrant it just didn't seem like a drastic improvement like I was expecting.
Now since htc has promised us an unlocked bootloader and the devs are so close to cracking it anyway...I have a small dilemma lol...
I was holding out for the hercules which is ironically coming out around the same time the sensation should at least be opened up finally, so here us my question...what would you guys recommend? Wait for the hercules which most signs are pointing to it being a better performer stock for stock, or get another sensation and patiently await root (again)?
I like the hercules for what it is and could be, but the one thing I REALLY appreciated about the htc despite all its shortcomings was the qhd screen. I despised the speaker and call volume, and its general performance as an actual phone...but I will be keeping my vibrant for that regardless.
With all that said, what you guys think?

LOL @ "professional way" XDA has become so cluttered with pages and pages of useless threads because some guy bored decides to start a "should I buy phone X vs phone Z" thread or "what wallpaper should I use?" thread...Meanwhile the important threads are lost in the clutter on page 8... simply locking the threads still take up space... so BOOOOOOOOOO

Well...I don't consider my thread an "important" one by any means, just a simple innocent question. Either way, I've always felt that with internet forums...why do half of you even waste the time replying to a post if you're not really saying anything that will contribute? Does it make you feel cool to call me a newb and call my thread pointless? If so, great for you...but your reply is a waste of time and effort as far as I'm concerned.

Wait and compare.
That hercules is a myth highly doubt it comes out believe the hype if you want . Buy a phone for what type of user you are Plus in two months from whenever you buy a phone a better one will come out ,its impossible to keep up . I wish they slow down so developers of app and games can keep up to many non compatible apps for new phone . The one thing apple do good is have one os so every app and games are compatible. Android got like six versions that aren't interchange with certain apps ugh.

I'm confused on where you read or got the notion that the Hercules would be a better performer stock for stock? It's not even out, not one has touched it. It could be a friggin Vibrant all over again (yes, owned it, GAVE it away, POS, don't care what you think). Vibrant sucked, EVERYTHING I've touched that is samsung sucked. I've never used a samsung phone that I liked but that is my own opinion.
That said, get the sensation, unless you like touch**** UI and if you do, once we have S-Off, I'm sure some idiot will port that POS UI to our phone so you can have it that way.
Sense 3.0 is a resource hog, that is why it can SOMETIMES feel laggy. Once we have S-Off we can start flashing some of these streamlined ROM's and I'm sure it'll fly. Maybe even get a Sense 2.1 port which will be even faster. And one day, CM7.
You wanted some opinions, there ya go.

Sweet...an unbiased opinion at last...
Well, personally I'm not a bandwagoner when it comes to smartphones (because they ARE just phones moonlighting as computers nowadays), but I would think that the less complicated UI, extra 200+mb of RAM, 16gb of Rom as opposed to 1gb of the sensation, a slightly larger screen(with lower res obviously), and the capabilities of an unlocked bootloader out of the box would indicate that the Hercules PROBABLY is better stock for stock then the sensation IN SEVERAL ASPECTS...just saying.
Whether or not it IS better is subjective obviously I know, but they will both be very versatile when unlocked, it just seems as if the Hercules might be a tad better statistically, and I'm pretty sure it's a better PHONE based on my experience with my sensation...as the speaker, call quality and call volumes, and ability to hold a call just were not great at all and frankly any other phone probably can't be much worse then mine was. Whether it was my particular phone or not, dunno, but it kinda sucked and I was pretty disappointed. It seems as if these are not isolated problems either as I see negative stuff being posted about the sensation all day long on here...but I still liked it as a multimedia phone/web surfer/great camera/etc.
As far as samSUCK as you say, my vibrants been fantastic for me. It wasn't all that nice stock with all the issues we all know they had, but it was GREAT once I started running roms and very few phones when it first came out could top it storage wise with 16gb of stock memory plus 2gb of rom in addition to an SD slot. The Hercules just seems like a better bang for the buck overall but I still appreciate the sensation for what it is and what it'll hopefully be capable of. I would love to own both, and probably will...

Your still guessing at statistics. Nothing has been released. It very well is possible it will just be the Infuse but you know T-Mobile, they like to change stuff up so this is all hearsay. You do know that the Infuse does NOT have the SGSII's processor, right? As for 16Gb of built in storage, yeah, it's nice BUT, when you go over that, and I do, it's actually more of a pain (in my experience) to add an SDcard and figure out how to tell the phone what goes where.

Considering Trade for Sensation

Hey guys, an opportunity just came up and I might be able to trade my G2x for a Sensation. I absolutely love my phone since I was lucky enough to get one with minor screen bleed and no reboot issues. I just wanted to get more opinions from you guys. The main reason I'm willing to go through with this trade is GB. Is the trade worth it or should I just wait for a GB update?
Also, if I went through with this trade, what would happen with the games that I bought that are for Tegra 2 devices?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
youd know the answer to your question better than us....considering its gonna be your phone...but if you are asking for opinions,,,id say stick with the g2x. faster and the hardware is nicer...i dont think your tegra2 games will work on the sensation, but dont quote me on that
Gingerbread is not that big of an upgrade over froyo. The main difference it will make for the g2x is fixed drivers. Is it worth trading a good device for a potentially faulty sensation? No. The sensation has launch issues as well.
Just my opinion.

I actually enjoy using the Sense UI, as it has fairly useful features. Honestly, the G2X was my first Android, and I was almost turned off to the whole OS because of the issues I was having. The Sensation has redeemed Android for me personally. Of course, we'll see how the phone holds up after a month of use.
I have both and use them both. I much prefer the G2X.
Just traded my Sensation for a G2x today on Craigslist. I was honestly nervous, but damn the G2x is pretty damn nice. My Sensation had the touchscreen issues that everyone else had so the responsiveness on this is just amazing to me. I think the Sensation is gorgeous but this phone is also pretty nice and I am liking the software better already. The only thing I miss is a fully working Netflix for some reason on this I get netflix, but it's all sped up, so not useable.

If you are not having problems with your G2x keep it.
I think that the G2x is a faster phone than the Sensation and certainly more entertainment friendly. I prefer it.
I had to switch to the Sensation and find it to be a better business friendly phone. Better email, better battery life, and Sense does keep things nicely organized and accessible at the right times. I do miss the G2x though. Every time I see my girl still with hers I think about switching back...but I need a more reliable device.
If you're is working well don't switch. If it is prone to the resets and freezing then make the trade. Just be honest with the buyer.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna keep the G2x then; and Pinhead, my phone is pretty much flawless so thanks. I guess I just liked how T-Mobile sold off the Sensation since they advertise it more as a flagship device than the G2x. After hearing your guy's opinions I'm willing to wait for GB. It may take a while for the update, but it doesn't really affect me, since as stated before, I got a pretty faultless device, so thanks guys your opinions are very much appreciated...

I have both as well. But I havent been able to have them side by side yet. When I got my sensation my G2X was at LG for repair, when it came back they repaired something that didnt need to be repaired and didnt repair what needed to be repaired so I sent it back to them.. anyway my cousin also has the g2x and yesterday I was playing with them side by side. Consistently in internet speed tests the g2x was getting 1-2mbps higher than the sensation(literately side by side, connecting to the same server etc..), the g2x was also a lot more snappy and even though the sensation has a qhd display I did like the ips better on the g2x. I just think the sensation is just much sexier looking. If I could get the looks of the sensation and the performance of the g2x I would be happier than a pig in ****

Hey graf, nice to see a familiar face in this strange land
Yeah I don't have the sensation anymore, atleast for now. Ran into a good deal and this G2x (according to the kid who sold it, also an avid XDAer) has no random reboot issues and the screen bleed is almost negligible. My Sensation was gorgeous and usable, but it had intermittent screen sensitivity issues. I had talked to T-Mobile a few times about it, and they had basically told me it's a known issue that will be fixed by an update from HTC. I'm sure had I prodded they would have gone through the throes of replacing it, but my problem was intermittent... I couldn't make it happen and god damnit anytime I showed someone it worked fine. Not to mention a factory reset completely fixed the problem for almost exactly one week. ARRGGHH. I know Tech Support would have had me Factory Reset it, which would have fixed the issue and then I would have had to wait another week to call back in for more troubleshooting and then possibly a replacement. I dunno, just thinking about it gave me migraines.
So for the time being I'm feeding my phone ADD with a new device, and I get to do the whole crackflashing thing again. And so far I'm very impressed. When the Sensy gets busted open and that sexy beast can perform like the G2x I think I will be jumping back. To see over 4000 on Quad, I was like, umm pants have been shat.
I think what happened is I heard so much bad about G2x and that the Sensation was supposed to be this gift from phone heaven. Sense 3.0 ran smoother on my MT4G than it did on my dual core beast. Just kinda bummed me out. And then with low expectations, seeing the G2x perform so well it just made my pants shrink.
Of course this is all moot in September when the Hercules drops... Stupid addiction. Plus if I can try L-flippin-G out, I think I can give Samsung another shot, especially with those specs.
Wow, thread hikacked, sorry OP. Should have sent a PM to graffix instead... EEK

haha I hear ya. Yeah they are both really nice phones. Once I get my g2x back from LG in a few days I think I will rock that again for a bit. I honestly think a cross between the phones would be perfect. The looks of the sensation and the performance of the G2x. And dont worry about being in a strange land. I can honestly say that the g2x forum peeps are much nicer than the sensation people. So they will all make you feel welcome here
I don't know, but my G2x don't have reboots, but Im tired of it. Because is "low budget" phone for me....
I remember all G-series never sparkled with design....
+Im filling fake drivers( example: settings scrolling, BASIC users never gonna see that, but who know-Android, will say Im right !!) ...even on CM7 witch is super fast* !!!!
So Im almost sell my phone...., and I will get SGS2... Expensive ! But 2.3 and same fast like all dual-cores.
oh and trust me when sensation get CM7 the phone will ROCK !

I have both and tried them side by side. I also read all the comparisons on cnet and other blogs. There was 1, I think CNET, but not sure, named the sensation a hands down winner over G2x in a side by side comparison. Problem was, almost all the tests were opinion tests. For example.
Body shape and style
each of use of apps
speed of access to internet,
game play performance.
All the info pointed to the peeps opinion on how they acted. for me, the side by side performance was much different. the stock g2x out performed the Sensation in every category except:
camera access and speed
Startup speed.
oh.....and I like alot of the Sensation sounds better
Otherwise , this wasn't even a competition.
But, as several have said, its your choice, what you like. If you like the metalic feel of the HTC, then cool, it is attractive. Or, what ever it is that draws you, then go for it.
Just don't let it be GB. The draw of GB vs 2.2 is not that much of a difference to be an impact....unless you want it to be
alodar1 is right especially regarding gb vs. froyo, i hate when i hear people say well i want that phone cuz it has gingerbread, and i think to myself what? why?, there isnt that much of a difference if u ask me all there is, is the scroll light up and i like the copy and paste and gb manages apps a little differently thats it, but froyo performs just as nicely especially 2.2.2, now the only time id say sure grab that phone it has gb, is if u were running 1.5

hehe well, even though the sensation is locked there is a OC module that you can load to make it run at almost 1.8. Although I'm not messing with it until we get it unlocked and a proper OC

This phone is garbage!

T-Mobile gave me one of these to replace my faulty MyTouch 4G because they claimed to be out of stock. How do you guys put up with the constant freezing, slow performance, home screen reloads, no camera flash, no track pad and no support from cyanogen? This phone feels 3 generations behind my MyTouch. The screen is the only thing that's better, but it's nearly useless because the phone is so pathetic otherwise.
Fwiw, I'm running ICBINB, and, well, I sure as hell CAN believe it's not butter! The theme I loaded over it has blacked out all text on my menu pop ups too, making them impossible to read.
What a disappointment. I don't understand why those of you who had a choice actually intentionally selected this phone. This is a sad day for me.

? Why? Did I post this in the wrong section or something? It sounds to me like you're in denial. If you were truly happy with your phone and found no truth in what I've said you would've just laughed to yourself and ignored this thread. But that's not what happened.
Samsung does suck when it's full stock with no mods, but it's very wrong of you to to criticize the hard work of our developers like that. ICBINB is an excellent ROM and the theme is still being worked on by the developers. It's stuff like that which made great developers like krylon360 leave xda. Honestly, I've tried the stock MT4G and the difference isn't that much.
I'm not from the MT4G forum, so I wouldn't know when they got Cyanogen support, but judging this phone just from its lack of it is quite wrong of you. Keep in mind that the SGS4G did get released much later than the MT4G as well. Krylon360 is currently working on CM7 for the SGS4G as well.
I must agree with jager55. If you really think the phone is that bad, you can always exchange it.

There are quite a few great ROMs out there right now which you can use. Remember, just because you haven't taken full advantage of the phone's capabilities, it doesn't mean that it isn't a good phone.
You can apply RAM tweaks, Custom ROMs and KERNELS, OVERCLOCKING, and so much more.
Everyone here at XDA would appreciate it if you would keep your snide remarks to yourself and, rather than complain, just get a different phone.
Thanks
Don't ever blast developers, Cyanogen can dev for whatever phone he pleases. Might i add the tmobile vibrant IS supported by cm. Nobody here cares about your opinion of the damn phone, but we care about harsh unsolicited criticism of our hard working developers who have provided us with lots of useful information and time out of their daily lives. Who do you think you are to insult the work of others. Hey, don't be a clown. I never criticized the developers. It's not their fault that the hardware is pure trash. Don't put words in my mouth, pally.
So basically... You exchanged a faulty phone and got another faulty phone, from a different manufacturer?
Perhaps you're just a faulty owner...
Myself and my wife purchased our phones at the same time, she a mytouch4g, myself galaxy s4g... First 3 days she spent on the line with tech support and 1 day in the store getting the phone running properly... Myself zero problems!
At any rate, I'll assume you are well within your exchange period take it back!

I see where you're coming from and I understand why you're frustrated. MT4G has had CM7 since December so I can see why it's frustrating to leave it, especially since CM7 on the MT4G has absolute no stutter.
But people enjoy this phone for other reasons than what you enjoyed about the MT4G. The SGS4G is a great media phone, beats the **** out of the MT4G hardware wise IMO. It's lighter, and better built (I actually prefer plastic than metal). And the speaker quality is boss. Plus the video codecs are awesome on TW.
Yeah it's software is considerably slower than on the MT4G, but there's still plenty of things to love about the SGS4G.
But since you don't like it, just exchange it back for the MT4G. BTW, why did they offer you this phone? Did they run out of stock or something because I myself was about to call for another MT4G as my current one has problems with the digitizer/touch screen. And did they offer you just the SGS4G or any other phone?
Well so far I have had extended play with or owned an htc hero, samsung moment, hct evo 4g, htc g2, lg g2x and the sgs4g and consider this phone to be front of the pack. Furthermore this place is for the advancement of this phone and if you choose to bring nothing other than negativity to the table perhaps you should not come to it at all.

Yeah, they said they were out of stock of the MyTouch 4G and gave me several "comparable" phones to choose from. The problem with my MyTouch 4G was with the front facing camera (faulty user my ass, QUIETLYloud), and the SGS4G was the only option they gave me with a FFC, making it the only logical choice. I'm just going to call them later today to see if/when they'll have more MT4Gs in stock and, if not, if they'd be willing to work with me on a discounted upgrade to the Sensation or something similar.

Front of the pack? And you've used the G2x? That's interesting, considering I've rooted and flashed CM7 on a few G2x's for friends, and that phone is in an entirely different league than the SGS4G. It makes the SGS4G look the way my G1 did when I got the Nexus One.
Cm7 means nothing on a g2x that had constant force close and over heating issues. You are correct the g2x is in a different league. It got sent back and the sgs4g stayed. Bottom line is if you are unhappy with your phone return it. Don't jump on that phones forum and state how it is garbage just because YOU don't prefer it.

The speaker on this thing is not "boss." Listening to Google Voice voicemails over the speakerphone is nearly impossible. Basically have to put the phone up to my ear anyway. And this phone's speakerphone won't turn off. All calls are over speakerphone, no matter what I do. Worst.
We are not tmobile customer service, if you have problems contact them, dont be posting this garbage on here.
All I'm saying is that, while it does have a great display, this phone is weak, laggy, has unresponsive keys, takes sub-par photos, has 2/3 the minimum amount of RAM that should be expected from current-gen Android devices and it performs poorly overall. I think this falls into the "General" forum category and, therefore, is completely on-topic.

About to join the G2x crew, need some advice.

I've read plenty of crap about the G2x and how terrible it can be. Is there a way to tell apart the bad batches from the good ones? Maybe by IMEI? Baseband? OS version?
Thanks!
honestly, ive had my G2x since may? and only problem ive ever had(and still have) is slight screen bleed on my top corners.
other than that, i love and enjoy this phone everyday !

Agreed. I got my phone off of Craigslist and it's even a winner. This is my favorite phone...of all time, maybe. Came from a Vibrant and I won't own another Samsung product for a while.
No good or bad batches. They all come with junk software which is easy fixed with Nvflasher and a custom rom.

OP, do yourself a favor and find a different phone. Honestly, this phone isn't worth the trouble you'll put yourself through. There are better options out there, no need to subject yourself to dealing with the G2X. Perfect example, it's December and they're trying a 2nd time around to release the gingerbread update...the phone came out in April! That should have been done a long time ago. That being said, how soon do you expect it to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich? Find another device, it isn't worth the trouble.

We're already getting alpha's of ICS. And since we're all on XDA, we've all had GB since CM7. I don't see any other reason to deter him away from this device.

What newer device doesn't have an alpha build of ICS yet? Really, that's nothing to hang your hat on. Truth be told you may never get a bug free build of ICS until the actually release comes out, or at least leaks with the things they will need to make it more stable and bug free. That didn't even really happen completely with gingerbread. The phone's fine if you're someone who's already stuck with it, and can't get out of it (for whatever reason). But, I couldn't in good conscience recommend anyone to purchase this phone. Fact is, if he intends to have anything even close to a pleasant experience HE WILL HAVE TO HACK HIS PHONE, and even then there aren't any guarantees. There are much better options out there.
Honestly the g2x still outperforms most other newer phones released this year( exnyos sgs2 aside )
With ics confirmed for our devices and both cm team and our brilliant devs here on g2x thread who got hw acceleration and just about everything else working for a beta release, I'd say our g2x's are go for their true potential. Though not quite ahead of its time as the hd2 was.. when ics is released for g2x it will only future proof the device longer since that is the OS meant to keep g2x owners happy they kept it!
Oh and I wouldn't say hacking the g2x is difficult anyways, since its one of the easiest phones to root ever lol

Try this ROM:

Though the installation and post-installation is PAIN IN YOUR ASS, it works 100% with nearly zero problem after it's done and it's worth the pain.

I like this phone, it's only the second smartphone I've ever had and my other was a failberry. I had no experience with android and managed to root and flash a rom with no problems only a couple weeks after getting it. I will agree that this is not the greatest phone out of the box with the software, but if you enjoy flashing roms and trying things out it has some good hardware for the price. Some people enjoy rooting and exploring things, and this is a good phone for them IMO.

Then maybe it's user error on your part because the stock GB build was perfectly fine for me. Rooted or not rooted, my phone has never shut down, rebooted, or SOD. It's fine if you don't like the phone, but it would be ignorant to deter someone away from it just because you had a bad experience. There's many that have good experiences with this phone.
Stock ROM is fine.
Custom ROM's based on stock are good.
And CM7 is even better.

I am on my 4th replacement LG-P999 (G2X/WIND Optimus 2X) which I got within the first 15 days of getting the first one and this one has screen bleed at the top corners and light leakage along both edges leaking through the LCD mask. Hardware-wise, if it doesn't have any problems, it is a good phone but the support for it from LG is abysmal, they should be forced out of the cell phone business for that. This phone is only as good as it is because of the hard work done by various developers here and elsewhere who I can't thank enough for that. If you like modding your phone's functions and capabilities, this is probably the best phone for that other than the Optimus 2X P990 model which has the added ability of installing various basebands. When ICS is available with video acceleration, the better camera (no lag), etc., it will significantly improve this phone's operation to what it should have been when it was first sold, it was ahead of Android's ability to take advantage of its hardware. Even if LG does provide ICS for this phone which, although they have promised to provide for the Optimus family of phones such as the 2X, I don't believe it will because it has already moved on in preference to support its 3D phone for which it has released an update to double the phone's 3G/4G speed and other significant improvements. If I were to buy another phone, even though the new Nexus does not have the best hardware, it would be that because it has ICS and will be updated for at least the next 18 months. Second to that would be the new Samsung which is promised to get ICS which I do trust Samsung to do. I will never buy another LG phone or other LG product because LG is so unethical in its business practises. So, you pays your money and takes your chances, just don't bet on a known loser, LG.
