[Q] Xperia X2 - General Questions and Answers

Hello. I recently traded my Nokia E5 for an Xperia X2. A friend bought it and it looked ok! I was aware of the problems with Windows mobile 6.5 … but believe me… using that OS on a restrictive touch screen is a real pain. Even after the firmware update (which truly brought many enhancements, the phone is still hard do us, it’s not user-friendly, and gosh… the E5 was a rocket compared to this! What can I do, what can I delete (what will happen after I delete, do I need the program) what can I install…so that the phone is even half full more usable?
I don’t know what a splash is, a colleague informed me about the ROMs, but I understand it’s not possible. Android is also not possible, X2 doesn’t have the HW for Windows Phone 7.
The Camera is good, QWERTY also… but the OS the rstrictivetouchscreen are unpleasant
please some advise!

Its possible to run android os over htc touch enhanced?¿?¿?

Dear friends
Im a proud owner of a HTC TOUCH ENHACED or HTC ELFIN.
It would be possible to run android os on it?
Today i have watched a video where some guys runs in a touch screen phone a demo of android and this phone was a very slow one (ti omap 800, 64 ram and rom) and the os worked quite fine...
what dou you think about it?
cheers
with time yes now not likely i would keep an eye on
http://code.google.com/android/
Im new to the pda world (ive seen the light over super mobile phones like the N95 I currently own), Ive just been given old xda IIi and can appreciate the benifit already.
Ive just watched the U-tube videos on Android and I can see the future, what an amazing OS, there throwing down the gautlet with the offer of 10 million quite an incentive.
this OS on my Himalaya... that would be ultimate WIN
Being a ridiculous n00b here, I'm wondering the same thing, have just ordered the Ted Baker (Gay Purple) Touch on Win Mo 6 - and have no experience of installing OSs etc. on mobiles - how likely/practical is it going to be for me to put something like Android on it, when the time comes?
Don't worry, i'm sure you'll find a good tutorial as sson as android becomes available for the touch or any other PDA.
Actually flashing isn't that difficult, as long as you take yours time to follow every step. Otherwise you'll brick your device

Which one should I get? X1 vs Touch Diamond 2

Hi, I'm going to buy a new "phone" and I've read so many comparisions but I still can't decide with which one I should go.
I've followed the HTC phones for quite some time and recently I discovered the X1.
While I don't know very much about the X1, I heard that it has a dedicated graphic chip. Will any Windows Mobile application just use it or do the applications need to be exactly written for it? How fast is the interface? (for example, I hate how slow and unresponsive the Samsung Omnia interface was!) And is it as easy to use as the touch flo interface?
The only reason why I consider to get the X1 is it's keyboard, because there are a lot of emulators for Windows Mobile available but I won't be able to use most of them, JUST with a stylus.
So with which one should I go?
Or should I wait for the touch pro 2? Or another upcoming phone with even better specs?
Thanks in advance

questions abt android on htc diamond2.

Hi all,
I read through a few sites and the forum to research about my phone and i am looking to make it not so laggy/sluggish.
I am from Australia and is on Telstra network and my HTC Diamond2 is very sluggish and so laggy, it can barely function. Chance upon android articles and reading about rave reviews about how Android performs faster than Windows Mobile 6.5.
I have ZERO computer programming technical abilities. Just a chemist looking to fix her phone. So, this may sounds like requesting baby sitting service, but if anybody is kind enough, please direct me to the builds that are stable with Diamond2.
Google maps, text msging and bluetooth (which at the moment does not work) are very important functions to me, so I am looking for a build that have functions similar to these working well.
thanks so much in advance.
check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=509493
there is currently no fully working android build on the TD2 as there are problems with the drivers, android is not a complete replacement for windows mobile tho as you need to boot android from the win mob enviroment, plus as a owner of a android and win mob device i prefer windows over android any day of the week, maybe you should try some system optimisation software like sk tools, pocket mechanic or tweeks 2k2 as they can all improve system stability also try a cooked rom from one of the great TD2 cooks here on xda as alot of them out perform the stock HTC roms
Thank you so much.
Yes, i am just looking to really optimise my phone as I am pretty much stuck with this phone unless I can afford a new handset straight out.
Again, thank you for the link. I have no great computing abilities but I like to DIY. Will definitely look around more.
Thanks so much again.
you're really asking a question that will result in an answer that you just won't like. Its basically not feasible to have android on your phone, and if it ever were to be somewhat available, it would not be stable and it would require significant tinkering and knowledge to have a half-ass working android Diamond2.
your phone is nice...there's definitely a way for you to sell it off locally and purchase an android phone.

htc HD2 or xperia x10 - moving from HD1

Hi everyone, i would like some advice.
I am coming from a vast amount of HTC phones (i love HTC, great phones), latest one was touch HD but i broke it (up until then, its my longest serving phone without me getting rid of it).
I am looking at alternatives, and thinking andriod (wouldnt do iphone, tho the apps would be great!)
Anyway, i use my phone mainly for emails, web browsing and playing content over my network through UPNP and windows shares.
How would i cope with Andriod in this situation, do apps exist for these?
In your opinion, which phone do you think is best and if you were me, which would you go for?
I am favouring HD2, simply as i know windows, run custom firmware on it and love the hd! Andriod is an unknown for me, can i install custom firmwares on that?
Maybe andriod onto the HD2?!?!?!
Thanks for any help.
Stuart
funny... i'm opposite of you.
I've been a Sony Ericsson fan for several years now. I currently have the Xperia X1 and introduced to the world of Windows Mobile.
I'm trying to decide also between the HD2 and the X10.
HD2 runs winmo and the X10 runs android.
Switching to the HD2 would break me from being a SE fan and going with X10 would break me from winmo... haha. Still not sure which to choose from.

[Q] A bad buy, need advice

I previously had no Android experience and recently bought Xperia X10 Mini Pro as suggested by friends in a haste as an upgrade from my Nokia E63. After purchasing it, I found it out to be more of a downgrade. The phone itself is outdated but that is a different issue.
Web browsing is better, I got GPS and music is a major overhaul. But the inability to do proper multitask and lack of GSM-GPRS Dual Mode means this is not gonna replace my E63. Sadly, as deep as I have searched, Dual mode is not as easily available among Androids and proper multitasking requires huge RAM compared to Nokia. So I need suggestion on a cheap android that can truly replace, suppose a Nokia E71. Does such an Android phone really exist?
ZTE blade maybe the best one for the guy had no Android experience, or a better one, MOTO defy.
I don't think so

ZTE models are sadly not available Here in Kolkata. That model would not have suited me either. But DEFY is a seriously good mobile. Got good RAM, Armv7, PowerVR GPU, long battery life. Price is within my capability. It is also water/scratch/dust resistant. Are u sure that it supports dual mode? The website does not mention.
I didn't understand the issue with camera clearly, If I get the GREEN version does that mean camera will never work for me using CM9? [I am damn sure India gets green. Guess I'll have to sacrifice ICS then]
From this post it seems that Moto Defy supports Dual Transfer Mode. The only concern that remains now is about ICS update and the camera. Can anyone clarify that?
When it comes to pricing, no one can beat Nokia
There are lots of cheap Android phone available in the market, but you have to compensate in the screen resolution, speed etc. I wud recommend you Galaxy S (i9000) if you can afford...cheaper than dat is Galaxy ACE & Galaxy GIO.
Check if HUAWEI is available in your location, they are the cheapest highly loaded Android devices here in Oman.
zte monte carlo nice
Problem is, none of the mobiles you mention has Dual Transfer Mode in official specs, while even the latest Nokia, the Lumina 800 mentions Dual Transfer Mode (MSC 32) clearly in its specs. It is sad how Symbian died due to lack of interest from the part of application developers, but it had the best multitasking among all mobile OSes. In Android, whenever I minimise Opera Mini to do something else, I am always afraid that perhaps opening the next file will unload the browser in background; while in S60, u can have 20 apps running and 20 tabs open in browser in a handset with only 128 MB RAM, if pushed to its limit, the device will reboot but never ninja kill apps in background.
I can provide many links where people complain about lack of DTM in their Androids. Sony Vivaz is a S60 and it supports DTM.
Some said that editing build.prop allows DTM in some HTC phones. I have tried that in X10 Mini Pro and it did not work. Seems the radio antenna itself is cheap.
I recently ran a test in my X10 Mini Pro by starting a file download in it and sending a barrage of SMSes from another phone simultaneously. The download failed, none of those SMSes arrived ever.
So please mention how u know that those devices suggested have DTM. It is necessary.
I think I need to update my question. From this post, it seems that SE does not provide DTM as 3G already supports multiple connections. SE may think that there is no necessity of this technology in this age of 4G but in India 3G is both costly and rare.
I need GSM DTM, not the simultaneous voice and data capability of 3G.
Edit: I have subscribed for 3G. I was shocked to find that good quality 3G is cheaper than US here. It will be activated within 24 hours. Lets see if dual mode works now; else I'll have to get another handset with better radio.
Update: Ok HSDPA allows simultaneous voice and data in this handset. But 3G drops during calls perhaps due to poor signal so I need stock ROM to force WCDMA only.
