Is anyone else having problems with there battery charging super slow? It's been on the charger for almost 1 hour and only increased by 7%. I am using the stock charger.
Last night it was at 8% when I put it on the charger and after 3 hours it was only at 62%.
Is this normal?
yep it took me about 6 hours to charge completely with usb from pc. is it because i charge from pc? gonna charge using stock charger after battery depletes and report back with the results.

HTC charger charges with 1 amp of current. Standard USB charging (ie through a pc) is 0.5 amp. It will take at least twice as long charging via pc USB.

Mine just now seemed to be taking forever to charge (4+ hrs, only up to 80%) so I took a chance and rebooted it. Came back on saying 100%. WTF? I've previously noticed some odd behavior in that unplugged it would sit at 100% for a very long time, so now I'm even more suspicious.

Same with me, all night chage only 66% ( hot) but reboot - 100%
Mine took almost 5 hours charging from 4% to 100% yesterday, using the proper 1A mains charger. My HTC Desire could fully charge from USB in less time than this!
I have problem with charging 2. from 14% @ 8AM till now 79% @ 1PM..
HD2 charged battery way, way faster...
edit:
after restart 93%
I figured out what's causing the problem. You have to use the cable it came with. Every time I user a different cable my battery charges writers but then I switch to the stock cable and everything is fine.

Sometimes the phone doesn't display the battery % correctly, so when it reaches 100mA during charge, restart your phone. Most probably you will see 95% to 100%, or that's what I normally noticed.
Note: I believe our battery starts charging at 100mA when it's almost full, so let it charge for about 10mins more after it reaches 100mA then restart your phone. Tedious work but no choice as of now
Guys check if are having any CPU intensive apps running (even in the background) if charging takes that long. Mine is getting charged in 2,5 hours via AC
Try this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16808932
Hi.
I think this is good place for my question.
I have 1.5year old Sensation. I bought it with GB 2.3.3 (of course), the updated OTA to ICS 4.0.3.
Charging time was always 2.5hours. I was always charging from 14% (4%) to 100% with original charger.
Now, the charging time is 4.5 - 5hours for few months already.
First 2hours, it's charged to 75%, and then it is slow as hell. Another 2.5-3hours from 75% to 100%.
I am using original charger, when I am charging, built in "battery meter" says "charging AC", so the cable is detected correctly.
I did factory reset (didn't help). I still have stock ROM, no root.
Can anyone tell me why it is getting slower and slower?
Time to buy an anker
Envoyé depuis mon HTC Sensation Z710e avec Tapatalk
I got similar issues and I bought a new battery(not stock one or Anker) for my sensation. It still takes 6-7 hours to finish a charge. I found that charge becomes very slow when the battery charges to 60-70%.
Does anyone one know the solutions?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
So I wrote an email to repair center, since my Sensation is still under warranty period.
They replied me it can be either motherboard fault, or faulty battery.
So I sent it to them and they replaced the battery.
Now, the charging time is 2hours and 15mins, I'm very happy

I'm using stock charger that came with phone.
No light indicator to indicate charging or fully charged? I've been charging via USB and it gets to 94%, so fully charged and stops charging. That's as high as it will get...
About to go work out, going to put it on wall charger and see what happens!!
Anyone else have this problem or just me because of the usb charge?
Mine only goes upto 94% br well with the wall charger.
Apparently It's a safety feature
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Mine goes to 96% typically and I've once seen it reach 97%, it's a bug, not a safety feature. As a safety feature, to prevent it from overcharging, it's supposed to charge up to 100% then stop charging until it reaches a safety level such as 95% then resume charging again. This is just a bug in the system.
Takes me just over 3 1/2 hours from dead to fully charged.
Mine goes up to 98%. Once in a while it will go up to 99%.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
1500mAh/700mA = 2.1h, i.e. less than 2h.
It will never (ever) reach 100% if your charger and phone is working correctly. It IS a safety feature. Eventhough the phone is connected to the charger, it still uses battery to run. The charger stops charging when it gets close to 100% and charges some more when it's safe to do so. Meanwhile the phone uses the battery to stay alive and if you unplug it between theese charging cycles it will be anything between ~93 and ~99%.
It seems like forever honestly with this phone. My Evo would charge in about an hour and a half. This phone takes easily 3.5 hours if not more.
For some reason Samsung chargers take longer to charge a phone.
If I use my HTC charger the phone charges a lot quicker
I also read this somewhere on another site

HTC chargers are typically 1000mah and samsung chargers are 700mah... So there's the difference.
what is up with this phone i went to sprint got a new battery not knowing this was an issue of not getting to 100%. i came from att and having the htc inspire kinda like the evo i guess it would fully charge in about an hour and last me about 12 hrs of actual use. the nexus s takes about 3 hours to fully charge and i get about 5 hours with 0% brightness im thinking about going back and returning the phone.

While I do not what is draining your battery so quickly, the reason for the charge time is stated in the post above yours. The charger that came with the Nexus S is a 700mAh charger, while many others (notably HTC's) use the full 1000mAh charge possible on a MicroUSB line. More power over the same amount of time = faster charging.

hi there
is any one have my problem?
i buy a nexus s in yesterday
but the battry cant hold charge for atleast 1 day!!
it usage is about 1 - 2 % charge in every houre!
i do workinig for example 10 minutes with the phone for setting ant etc .and then i saw the 4-6 % of battry charge go down!
or sometimes the phone is puting on standby for 30-40 mintunes
with no sms or calls, but its use about 6 % of battry chage!!!!!
and for wifi and games its even faster that it!
finally for a normal usage like 10-20 sms ,15 min call ,30 min browsing phone menues and apps and 20 web,
its going to be full empty!
and its meaning it cant keep charging for atleast 1 day!
i have the SLCD one ofcourse! => I9023 XXKD1
i couldnt find any superamoled version in my country to buy,
do you think its for the slcd screen?
i didnt think that its may cause this charging resaults for me just for the screen type!!!
my charging time is about 1.5 - 2 houres to full charge, that its not acceptable for me too!
i had a diamond2 with that poor battry.but i didnt think so the NS could be the same and even worst!
i upgrated my device to gingerbread officaly, from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 by the phone, but its still no differance!
it the back of the battry i can see the 1500MA Lion , but the battry control app i my NS shows maximun 1200 MA power!?!!
can it be the truth?
do u think its battry power completly depended to rom and radio version to fix?
if that is,can any one intreduce me a good and fast and bugless rom and radio version?
thanks a lot :roze
Hey guys, I have a problem with my Sensation. Whenever I fully charge it and then remove it from the charger, use it for like an hour or two, the phone still thinks the battery is 100% charged. When looking inside the battery usage, it shows the graph with 0s underneath it, while in the previous screen where you see the apps battery usage it says 2h 5m 13s or something like that.
This wouldn't really be a problem, but when I started up Maps Navigation and plugged the charger in the car, it wouldn't charge because it still assumed the battery was 100% charged!
Any of you also having this problem? Thanks in advance!

Does it stay 100% forever? Then you may have the inexhaustible battery... (not sure if this is grammaticaly correct )
I wouldn't consider this a problem. You can download a battery monitoring app from the market and see what's going on with your phone and if the 100% that it's rerporting is correct. Also, check that the battery contacts are clean.
Not sure my phone does that but it can be on half charge then when I reset phone it's gone up a notch. This morning it didn't look like it had charged although it had been plugged in. When I switched it was on orange then it did the charging animation for a few seconds without charger plugged in then stopped on full. Odd.
Mine stays on 100% for a couple of hours too, has done since I got it.
I think perhaps HTC are "cheating" (or using "creative coding", whichever expression you prefer) in the way they report the battery percentage. Make the battery appear better than it is. Just a theory, of course.

That happens to me a lot too. Woke up this morning, phone had been charging for nearly 5 hours, but was only on 82%. After a couple of minutes of the screen being on, it had leapt to 100% and stopped charging.
Also, once the battery is below about 20%, it will sometimes drop 2-3% at a time. Odd.
Looks like they totally screwed the battery meter hardware or something in the software. Remembers me of my iPod touch
Experienced the say.. hopefully either it will auto be fine due to charge cycle or via updates

Weird :\
Charge the battery with the power turned off overnight, in the morning unplug the charger, turn the phone on, and shutdown again, and plug the charger back for 30
mins phone still turned off. After that start using the phone normally, this way you calibrate the phones battery meter properly.

I had similar problem yesterday. It sticked with %89 then I unpluged the charger and rebooted the phone. This time it says %100. Looks like there is a problem with calculation of percentage.
Yeah...mine takes a really long time to charge. I know lithium ion batteries charge slowly after it reaches 80%, but it still seems a lot slower than my previous phone.
yeah.. i rebooted and it was up to 99%.. strange. although it drained very quickly back to 87%... since been 3 hours and its not down to 77%.. so i think it is settling.. maybe an update
Desparately awaiting the root so all these irritating bugs can be addressed
mine took 4 hours yesterday....

I plugged mine into a wall charger at 10 pm last night. At 6 am it was still showing charging and not full. Has to be a software bug. No way it can charge for 8+ hours and not be fully charged.

Normally 3 hour -4 tried to use another charger or cable
Sometimes it takes longer if you charge it with USB on some PCs USB ports.
I am running Continuum v5.6. I have gotten amazing battery life but I do not understand what I do to obtain this. Here is what I did.
So I was getting terrible battery life and decided to recalibrate my battery. After wiping the battery stats after making sure my phone was %100 charged I decided to run the battery till my phone shut itself off. I was getting terrible battery life even after the wipe and everything. In about 24 hours the phone drained itself out with moderate to light use.
I recharged the phone with another USB outlet forcing the phone to charge slowly in USB mode. I believe it charges at 400 mah instead of the usual 700 mah when using the samsung charger. I left it until it charged from 2% all the way to %100.
This was mid Saturday. It is now Monday morning and I am still running on the same charge.
I don't doubt I could have reached up to 48 hours on my Captivate! I've never even came close to 36.5 hours without needing to charge.
What do you guys think gave me such great battery life? I am speculating that when we recalibrate our batteries we should do a SLOW charge. Slow charging batteries have always been the best method in the past IMO.
Possibility. However there are MANY different factors that contribute to battery life.
I would like to see some other confirmed reports of USB charging leading to longer battery life over AC charging.
Interesting stuff though.
Slow charging is always better with batteries. But in over a year i have never used usb to charge. So cant say if it last longer or not. I am a heavy user so no time for a slow charge
seems interesting...ima try this out as soon as i find a charger that charges at a slower speed..
I agree
I am 100% confident slow charging lasts considerably longer.
I normally use the USB on my computer to charge, and I get two days of what I consider pretty heavy use out of it, maybe longer but I'm never away from power for more than 2 days. When I charge with AC it's pretty tough to even last a single day.
Other things help as well. I always have the screen at minimum brightness, I would turn it down further at night if I could. I don't run any home screen widgets that constantly update, no haptic feedback, ect.
I'll have to try this out!
Let me do all the noobs out there a favor and ask how do i slow charge? Where do i get the whatever i need, is it a cable or plug thing and is the stock samsung stuff fast charge i assume?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Probably want to pick up a second battery.
Gives you a free of mind.
I've been using my captivate with 2.3.3 UCKF1, I charge it with the pc or the original charger and the battery drain very fast .. I think I will have to go back to 2.2.

Hi all,
ever since i rooted my phone and flashed another ROM, i have been having this problem of very very long charging to 100%. I did attempt to calibrate the battery after flashing the ROM by the way.
First CM7, then Virtuous Inquisition, now Ordroid.
From 1% to 70% it would be quicker. Then from 71% and onward, it will take hours to move. I am using the original usb cable n adapter for charging, i can't seem to figure out what can be wrong.
Or did i calibrate the battery in a wrong way?
You charging via a power socket or a USB port in a device like a computer or something?
I think he was implying he's using the usb with wall charger
Mine takes almost 3 hours, more if i'm using it a lot while charging -- all stock with ICS
Hi, I'm on ordroid too and it takes me two to three hours to fully charge with my wall charger. I'm using a different battery, extended life Anker battery. My stock battery was so bad it took too long to charge and ran out so quickly! Are you using stock battery still or a another battery? If it's stock, you might want to consider a long lasting battery. I've found it charges faster and lasts longer. I hope this helps

try a different wall charger if the problem is the same then u need to consider a other battery
thanks for the advices..
it just came to my mind, that before I flashed any ROMs, when i was still using stock HTC Sense 3.0, it used to only take 2-3 hrs to full charge. Now it's 6.
Doubt that, mine charges to 100 in about an hour and a half (Running HyperNonSense).
If you're using a USB charger, make sure the phone knows the power source is (AC) and not USB. USB will charge a lot slower. Dial *#*#4636#*#* for testing info and look under battery information (There's probably another spot in settings but this is my favorite).
Also use the original power adpater that came with the device, or one that came with another similar device.
Mine takes 4-8 hours to charge in any ROM. Last night it was almost 9 hours from 3% to 100%
When it reaches 60 more or less it's like 100% if you reboot. I do reboot everytime to stop the wait. I don't know if that's bad but this phone charges very slow after some percentage is reached.

When it reaches 60 more or less it's like 100% if you reboot. I do reboot everytime to stop the wait. I don't know if that's bad but this phone charges very slow after some percentage is reached.

This is crap, what you´re doing!
If you charge the battery, the phone doesn´t know how much capacity it got. (Could be an old battery or a bigger/smaller non-stock battery) So the device will recorgnice how fast the battery adopt the power and estimate when it slows down on a specific value when to stop and show 100%.
If you will restart the device during the loading sequence, it makes a battery calibration and thinks your on 100%. But of course it is still on 60%.
Your just fooling yourself
