4G LTE in Syracuse, NY - Thunderbolt General

I spoke to a rep yesterday saying that Syracuse will be online with Verizon LTE by the end of June - about ten minutes ago I had 4G LTE signal with approx 10 Mb/s DL and 5 Mb/s UL. It lasted for about 5 minutes and then went back to 3G. My guess is they are going through final base-station/radio testing before turning it on.

I've been posting for the past 3 months about 4G being on once in a while in Syracuse.
Even had it in Watertown last week for 15 minutes.
Life is good, and is getting better!

4G in watertown...never thought that place would see 4g lol

Now only if pulaski could get LTE...doubt it. We can hope right?

Yup, towers were upgraded last summer. :-D

My parents live outside of Binghamton and I when I go to visit I go through Albany. I think they need to show some love in the Southern Tier but Syracuse is getting very close. That being said, I want to get some towers up here in Maine but that isnt likely any time soon.

yeah I've been hearing June or July since winter so I'm hopeful... and it's nice to see others on here from Syracuse!

It popped on and off a few days ago in Syracuse.
Edit. Just repeating what op said. Didn't realize syr had this many.

I'd like to see it in Rome. Haha

Nice. I live in Rome for the time being until I finish my degree and move to Rochester. Btw... 4g in Rochester is lightning fast.

Some one mentioned 4g in Watertown..awesome...maybe i'll see it here in Potsdam next year, but i'm not gonna hold my breath!

I went to school in potsdam..surprised that place even had 3g

I wouldn't be surprise if they had it at the border in Massena, they have it at the border in Alex Bay, too.

I work near Downtown Syracuse and my 4G icon appeared again this morning, this time for a bit longer than it did earlier in the month. My business rep. did tell me LTE will be here by the end of summer (this was back in like February)... whenever I see "4G" pop up on my phone, I email her as she has a TBolt. She doesn't confirm anything, but does say that if I am getting LTE connectivity, that is a good sign that they are testing and the activation is coming soon!

I wonder how far out of Syracuse it will reach. I have family in Pennellville and Central Square.

Verizon 4G coverage impressions

Now that we have had our phones for a few weeks is anyone else out there amazed at how good the coverage is on the new 4G network. Coming from Sprint with the EVO I am just amazed. Been two 3 different 4G cities in 3 states and have been impressed everywhere. Anyone else?

man i wish i were in a 4g area. sadly, i only have 3g here in northwest indiana but chicago has 4g so i am hoping that 4g will be here within the end of the year.
how does 3g compare to 4g for you?

I travel between NY and Philadelphia for work on weekly bases and basically have nonstop 4G coverage.
the entire east coast of FL is blanketed with 4g and working there way west
unfortunately my house is in the grey area
its honestly the biggest cell phone revolution since 3G lol... its really incredible.
I had 4G for about 10 minutes yesterday morning, then they turned it off. I was pissed. Guess they were testing. I hope that means they're going to light it up soon.
I was only pulling about 4.5-6.5 Mb/s.

It will be that way for 4 weeks or so, thats what they did here. They will up the speeds also after they load test etc. After that period of time they just leave it on

Lol I live in the heart of Boston downtown to be precise and there's 4g everywhere here. Am very impress but I feel like when ever my phone drops 4g for whatever reason 3g seems so slow now. But some time I have to force the phone to 3g just conserve battery that's a damn shame Verizon because 4g is amazing. But Verizon still have to optimize the yell out of it beside the battery drain some time it hangs before starting to download data or load a page, got embarrass trying to show off to a friend. But no problem with 4g here wow you guys without 4g are definitely missing out but at least you got the unlimited 4g plan before it they change it.

Same situation here.... :/
,
I am right in the city of chicago but outside downtown. I had sprint and the evo and their 4g was seriously terrible. Could only get a poor connection when the phone was balanced on the window ledge with the window open. The 4g would not go through the newer vinyl windows. I also could never get a signal inside most other buildings. I could literally only get it reliably when I was totally out in the open (even outside my house at ground level I could not get a connection). So, wimax on sprint's frequency sucks. I paid my $140 etf and switched to verizon where I pay $10 less per month f*** sprint.
verizon LTE 4g coverage is just amazing. Im on it right now in an interior room of my apartment nowhere near a window. I get 4g everywhere I go, I am never nervous about the connection dropping. This is how a network should function. Sprint is just awful and i will never use them again in my life. I would seriously get a land line before I got sprint wireless again. Verizon is so impressive to me.

4g in Dayton?

Does ne one know when 4g will be hitting Dayton Ohio ?

I'm sure verizon knows.
It's been on off and on in Huber Heights the last several days.
I had heard from a reliable source that it would be on by the end of April, but I don't think that's gonna happen. Of course with the outage a few days ago, maybe things got behind schedule a little.

I would expect it to be soon, as Cincinnati was a launch market. They would most likely expand outward from the launch markets. I think that it would most likely be there within 2 months. Also another thing to note is the 700MHz spectrum and hoe far it travels. If 4G is brought to a town or city somewhat close to you you should be getting it. I live in a town in northern Kentucky, a couple miles away from Cincinnati and I'm getting solid LTE here.

Yeah I knew April was already over, but it is technically on in Riverside and parts of Huber Heights. Take a drive down Brandt Pike and/or Woodman/Needmore Rd by Stebbins High School and it will come on.

I'm in Jonesboro AR. Jonesboro was one of the first places on Alltel to get EvDO back in the day. I guess Verizon has pretty much forgotten about Jonesboro AR.
Hell most if the cities surrounding Knoxville have it. Oak ridge for example.
They had actually turned it on at 2am Monday morning... I thought it was a test but it stayed on!! We weren't supposed to get it for a few more days too!
Best speed test I had was 20mbs down and 9mbs up.

They provided a list of who they said would get LTE by the end of 2011. Memphis was on the list. When I bought my Bolt, the salesman in Cordova told me that we'd have LTE by the end of June. LIAR! lol
I can guarantee however that you will get it when you get it. 100% sure of that.

They should update their website. I just looked up coverage there to check a nearby city and their site doesn't show 4G in Knoxville yet.

LTE live in Seattle

AT&T appears to have flipped the switch on LTE in Seattle. After work today I noticed the little LTE symbol, ran a speed test, and was getting 40mbps down, 20 up. Not bad!

4G LTE

So how long did your area (City/Town) take to fully turn on your 4G? Reason I'm asking is because today all day I had 4G which I was shocked to see because I'm not in a 4G area. Obviously this means that they are testing it I would assume?

I had never noticed them testing in my area (Duluth, mn) until the day they said it was scheduled to be turned on.

In my town it has taken over a year yo get good 4g service from Verizon. A yr ago I had to put my phone in the Window to get one bar of 4g ad now today I get full service anywhere in my place. The best download speed I have gotten was 19mbps.. But that was at night and the network wasn't loaded down

I'm over in Oregon and there is still no 4G i my area. From what I heard is that Verizon contracted a company to lay the cables and then they sub contracted it to Century Link. Well CL dropped the ball and now we have to wait even longer for 4G.

This is true. I wish Apple would have implemented NFC in the iPhone 5. You know if they would have, it would soon be supported all over!! As much as we all don't like to believe it, Apple/iPhone influences a lot of technology in other fields.
