Hi everyone,
I just got the Moto Xoom and have some minor issues. First thing i noticed was that it would not turn on after taking it out of the box. I hit the power key and a small orange light would flash 3 times and nothing. I can only manage to boot the Xoom using the Vol-Up + Power Key, every time i shut it down. I also keep getting a FC from the facebook app. Does anyone have any idea whats up with it? Would i need to factory reset the device? Its currently running HC 3.0.1. I havent done any kind of hacking on this yet, its completely stock.
Hope someone can help.
Regards.
When you turn it on, you are supposed to hold the power button until you see the Motorola Dual Core logo. A lot of people have trouble with the Facebook app. Do a search.

Hey.. I was just about to root my phone and I came across this problem now >.>!!
I went into the boot loader menu to see what see the version of my base band is so that I could download the appropriate files needed for the root, but by accident I pressed recovery... and now its been sitting on that stupid screen with an exclamation mark for almost 4 hours and I can't tell if its doing something or not...
I've tried pushing all the buttons and powering it off but I haven't tried pulling the battery because I don't want it to corrupt any files or anything...
So can some SNS genius tell me what I should do?
Take the battery out.

What you are seeing is the stock recovery, it's awaiting your input. Press Power + Volume Up in this order without releasing the other, it'll bring you to the recovery menu.
Thanks!
got really worried
Hello again, today when i woke up i decided to play trial x on my phone. To my avail, the game froze my phone so i did a simple battery pull. Unfortunately, the phone went into safe mode some how. I dont even know what caused this to happen. So now i cant use any app on my phone except music and internet. I also think that the volume DOWN button is stuck. im very unlucky with that! Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance, Chelsea.

If your volume button was stuck then would boot directly into hboot (power + volume down). Is your phone rooted? just give us more information about to see if we can actually help. Maybe is a hardware problem, but is hard to know with the information provided.....

^this.
Please provide us if you're rooted, if so what ROM. What kernel/radio. If you're OCing or UVing. The more you help us, the better we can help you
yes I am rooted. Although the problem went away. I found out that the up volume button was stuck and tried everything to un-stick it. To my avail, nothing. But as I was laying on my bed out of no where I could change the volume and rebooted and it was fine. Now I fixed everything on my phone so I'm well. Thanks anyways guys!

Hi there,
I posted this in General first. I think it should be here.
I have a Rogers Galaxy SGH-i727R. About three weeks ago, the phone started re-starting on it's own. I though maybe it was a sticky power key and had that replaced. The problem persisted. I then noticed that it was primarily upon receiving text messages that the phone would reboot. So it seemed it was a software issue. I am running the stable build of CM9.
Yesterday the phone rebooted and never got off the angry alien screen. I pulled the battery, charged it etc and still could not get it to fully boot up. I left it for over an hour. I finally decided to call it quits and re-flash the phone. Problem is, it will not boot into recovery at all. When I hold down Vol + - and Power, it jsut goes into a loop of vibrating every three seconds until I let go and then it tries a normal boot again. Once, I briefly got a screen saying I was trying to install custom software and to press volume up to do so, but before I could hit volume up, the phone cycled off.
I should also mention that the four buttons on the bottom of the screen do not work. I accidentally sliced the wires on the side of the phone when opening it up. I use a software button saver widget to access their functions. I wonder if that issue is related....
Thanks for any advice. I would like to get into recovery so I can load a new ROM or a stock ROM.

Out of nowhere my power button magically no longer works. Kind of a huge deal since I use my phone for work a TON. At first I thought it was the ROM but then I rebooted into recovery and discovered it doesn't work in there either...... but by some sort of miracle though my phone magically boots itself up when I swap batteries in it....
I am rooted and running Beans 20.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

You can get an app called button savior from Google play that allows you to create on screen keys to turn off your screen.
Various xposed modules allow you to remap your physical keys. If you don't know about the xposed framework I highly suggest looking into it.
Furthermore I believe some custom roms have key mapping built in.

Yes I already got an app that will shut my screen off and lock it but what happens when my phone stops magically booting up all by itself??
Then I'm screwed.

My power button just started malfunctioning too. I'm on Odin barebones 4.1.2 stock and the problem persists.
It sounds like a lot of people are getting this problem. If you use that knowledge to your advantage, I've heard people convince Samsung it's a manufacturing problem and got it repaired outside of Warranty. The power button itself is sautered onto the motherboard, so unless you really trust a mobile repair company, best option is work directly with Samsung.
That being said, I'm going to look for an Xposed Framework module that can remap the power button.
I looked for one, didn't really find what I was looking for... selling mine on ebay now to pay for my new phone...

Wow. My power button just stopped working also.
My phone is stock.
I did replace the glass myself a couple months ago and it's been working fine until about a week ago. Was wondering if that had anything to do with it.
Interesting to see I'm not the only one having issues.
Kind of timely now that the S5 is coming out this week.

This is happening to a lot of people. I'm sure the s4 will start having this problem followed by the s5 after a year and some months. Im done with samsung phones until they start using different parts. Actually thinking about the next nexus phone and hack a msata drive into it with a custom vacume formed case. The only reason I haven't owned one is because of the storage limitation. I think a 200+ gigabyte msata strapped to the back would fix that problem.

Hey guys, mine originally starting messing up on Saturday, and then Sat night and all day Sun is was fine, and now it is doing it again. I even installed a new rom and it is still doing it so now I am convinced it is purely physical and not rom-related. What are you guys going to do?
I have the Wireless Phone Protection for my phone and am thinking about using that to my advantage to get a new device....question is I've never done it before. If I say I have a physical problem with my phone then won't Verizon want it returned? That will make me have to unroot it and bring it back to out of box state which is a big headache. What if I just say I lost it or it got stolen? Am I better off going that route?
EDIT: Also forgot to mention that along with these power button issues my S3 also will not reboot on its own. If I select Reboot (be it from the power button menu, notification pulldown, etc) it will just shut off and not reboot.....but if I yank the battery and put it back in it will then reboot to recovery. Same deal if I do a normal reboot, haven to yank and replace battery. You guys having these issues too?
So a couple of days ago my power button started acting wonkie as well. I would push it and it basically acted sticky. I would push once but it would register twice or as a long press. Either turning the screen on and off or bring up the reboot menu. So I did the xposed button remapping. Worked pretty well, but if I restarted the phone it would do a weird haptic feedback thing every couple of seconds before finally booting up.
So I wasn't satisfied with just living with it being a hardware issue. So I downloaded latest cleanrom to flash from cm11. I rebooted recovery and now it just vibrates every couple of seconds. Would not make it to twrp. It will get to cm Samsung boot screen but then just goes back to vibrating black screen. I took out battery and popped out power button but same results.
Any suggestions? Think power button can be fixed by repair shop or is it time to go back to my trusty droid incredible until I can upgrade.

It can be fixed. There is also a way of temporarily making the power button work but I don't feel like explaining it again. If you do some searching there are at least 20 threads that have the temp fix in it.

Hello! I have been looking for a solution for this problem for several days now and decided to try to find an answer here. My nexus 5 keyboard was not coming up at times, and I looked around and was told to wipe data and see if that works. so, I went in recovery, wipe data, it started, I believe I tried to turn it on prematurely or something because when it turned on, all I saw was vibration, Google logo, , and endless flying dots. I tried going back in recovery, all I saw was a dead android with a red triangle and no it did not say "No command" under him. it was simply blank. I thought at first I was at a boot loop, but I do not think so as I can use power button fine and it does turn off. I tried draining battery, taking out SIM, doing the weird spam of pressing power to get it to work, but nothing has worked so far. I left the dots flying around for 2 hours, 6 hours, over night, still nothing has changed. What can I do?? This is a Nexus 5 (google) and it has Lollipop.
Thanks for reading!
help appreciated!
Thank you for using XDA Assist. When you get the dead Android in recovery press and hold power then press and release vol up. That should get you into recovery. Do a factory reset there.
