I often accidentally hit the volume down button on my phone. It's not a big deal if it goes to vibrate mode, but I never want it to go to silent mode.
Is there a way to completely disable silent mode on the phone?
Thanks!
This app will warn you periodically if your volume has changed accidentally

You can also remap the volume keys with it to perform other actions (such as open task manager, or go to Home) and open volume only with a shortcut.
Surprisingly, there is no mute button on the lock screen. And I can't see it on the notifications/quick settings panel neither. Am I missing something? Don't really want to use widget for that.

For the lockscreen, I don't know, but after unlocking it, u press the vol down button until it's muted or set to vibrate.

Do one of the following:
§ Press the VOLUME DOWN or VOLUME UP button.
§ Press the POWER button.
§ Place HTC Sensation face down on a level surface.
Is there any app for the xoom that will turn off all sounds for things like meetings? On the phones, there is one where all you do is press the power button and then choose silent sounds. Thanks!
Tasker , you have to do a step by step config , or try silent mode timer .
use the volume key to bring up the volume on the screen then click on the speaker, mutes everythng.

OP: Use what he said in the post above. It's built into the system, and literally takes half a second to do. That's what it's there for, right?
volume plus(+) app. it has two widgets, one is a profile shuffler. three profiles so either one or two clicks on your homescreen.
probably beats having to bring up settings or pressing the a bit hard to press volume keys.

This works well for the alarms and ringers, but certain apps *ALWAYS* ignore this setting and use full volume anyways.
Personally, I like and use Quick Settings. It works very well and lets you change settings quickly. You can quickly choose between silent, vibrate, sound only, or sound and vibrate with it.
I use AudioManager. You can set up widgets for whatever sounds you want/dont want.
i.e. I have 4. One for only Media sounds. One for only Systems sounds. One for all to be up, and one for all to be off. You create the widget and press it once and then profile will be applied. You can set each setting to a specific volume. For example, if you want to watch movies at a certain volume, create the widget, during the creation, choose the sound volume and save it. Same can be done for music. You can create a widget to have some sounds on, and some off. Its totally customizable and i highly recommend it.
They have a pro version as well.

I forgot there were physical volume keys. Thanks for the pointer except it only handles 2 of the 3 things that has sound to it. If you went to settings and then sound, you will notice that the third one with the clock is not set from the volume keys. The 2nd one is when you click on the 3 sliders icon on the right side after clicking on the volume button.
With phones, I use Silent Mode Jammer which basically turns off all sounds when pressing the power button but on the Xoom, even with Silent Mode Jammer enabled, pressing the power button only allows shutdown of the device.
Xoom doesn't vibrate are you using this for silence?

I installed Volume+, the paid version and I don't see the widgets when I tried to add widgets to the home screen, what is it called? Is Volume+ the app with the volume knob for it's icon?

Never thought about it lacking vibrate. LOL. Haven't found anything to silence it other than using the settings and the 3 sliders manually.
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust our phone's volume (music volume, or to quickly put the phone in/out of silent mode) while :
1. While the screen is off
2. While the screen is on and still in the locked screen (when there is a password set...due to exchange security policies)
Thanks!
You can change your media volume with the screen off, but I don't believe you can change your ringer volume. I have a Pebble watch and I'm able to use it to quickly toggle between ringer, vibrate and mute, but that's as close as I think you can get.

While your screen is on at the lock screen, press and hold the power button until the "power off" and all the other options menu pops up. Then press the volume up and down.
You can now adjust your volume up/down while locked.

I have this app called Quick Reboot. It let's you go into shutdown/reboot/recovery mode.
Any way to make it so Quick Reboot launches when I hold down the power button instead of the default which only gives me the option to Power Off?
I have a Nexus 6 if it makes a difference
Thanks for any help
