You have to set it up with your company's IT department. For me, I had to submit my phone's O'Neil to them.

busy for a while, Thanks
If your company has OWA, then it has an exchange backend. I have heard that some of the froyo mail client's don't like exchange though. Flash to a gingerbread rom and try it. The ginger mail app is much better than the froyo one in my opinion. Touchdown is a great mail cilent for android. I have been using it since day 1 on my inspire and it works great. I set to poll every 5 min to conserve battery. You can even set Out of Office on Touchdown! highly recommended!

My company also has OWA for all its employees. So when it came time to set up Exchange on now several smart phones, I just used the same basic settings for Outlook as if I was logging into OWA. E.g., when I log into OWA I use employee # for user name, and not my full email address. In manual Exchange mail setup there is a field for user name. Also, I have to specify a specific Domain, which is also part of my login on OWA and on site at work. Also, from what I have gleaned, a lot of companies, mine included, does not require SSL encryption, nay, if the option is selected, the connection will fail. Hope maybe this helps someone...

The company I work for doesn't support android phones for our corporate/enterprise email server, but I can access my email account on my phone through the outlook webmail site. Are there any apps that can use outlook webmail site to pull emails from? Anyone have any other suggestions for me?
Thanks!

Exchange for Android v2.x?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
What I did was create a work Gmail and then added it on my phone and have my work Email (exchange) forward all my messages to my Gmail work one, it worked for a while and then they changed security policies or something. I tried forever for a work around for it but nothing came about until I actually talked to the boss about it and he asked the IT guys if anything could be done about it, and sure enough I can now connect and use my work email
Have you asked your manager/boss about it? I wasted like 2 hours trying to get find another way to do it and but a 5 minute conversation with the boss sorted it out lol.
Yeah, I spoke with IT a few times and all we came up with was either getting an apple device or Blackberry to use on our exchange server, or use outlook webmail. Strangely, they support the droid incredible but won't let any other android device on the server. I can check everything just fine on webmail, but it would be cool if I could get notifications, or at least have a mobile friendly interface I don't have to keep zooming in and out on.
I tried that exchange for 2.x and just can't get it to connect. I have the correct server info from my blackberry and from what I use everyday on my work pc. Verified by logging in on the webmail site.
Thanks for the help so far.

For Touchdown (Exchange for 2.x) try inputting your settings as if you were setting up an iphone to connect to the exchange server. The address should be sync.domainhere.com or something like that. It may work then.
I posted this in another thread.....try Seven, it's been working great for me.
I can't post links so.... (www).seven.com
I used the default froyo email program, just set the owa address as exchange server (without h**ps://), ssl encription, my login (without domain/) and password and It has worked well .
Yeah, none of that's working for me. I've spent the day trying to configure 5-6 different apps to use the webmail exchange server with no luck. Guess I'm stuck with using the website until the IT department starts supporting other android devices on the server.
Thanks again.

Hello,
I just purchased the G2X with the understanding that it supports exchange corporate email. When I try to setup the email, I get the error "this server requires security features your phone does not support". I have tried checking both of the security certificate boxes and confirmed that I am entering the right address.
Does the phone support Exchange? My company uses Exchange 2007.
Thanks for your help,
Lance
The built in mail client is pretty bad for exchange tbh. My particular issue was that it could not let me see the contents of most of my folders. I've started using touchdown for exchange, it has a free 30 day trial and is much better.
I saw options for exchange 2007 when installing it so hopefully it supports your company's security policy. It does and auto detect of server config on initial setup.

Exchange works fine for me here. You might want to check with your IT department. If there is anything wrong with the way they setup OWA or what ever it is called to access exchange over the web, then you might have issues.
Yup, Exchange works fine for me. It uses DAV over OWA instead of true ActiveSync, but only WinMo supports REAL ActiveSync anyway. In practice you really can't tell the difference.
I also use touchdown for exchange. It's pretty nice and also you get 90 day trail if you download from amazon app store.

Exchange 2007 works here
We use hosted exchange 2007 at our company and the stock app works for me as well. +1 for talking to your IT department or trying Touchdown.
They'll need to enable support for non-provisionable devices on the Exchange server for the ActiveSync policy assigned to you. Or you can go with Touchdown as suggested as Touchdown has a better ActiveSync implementation than the stock client.
Ever since I switched from my Tilt2 w/at&t to my Epic 4G w/sprint, I've been obviously using my gmail account more often. Thing is, the built in email client, even for gmail & even when I try it with pop3, just plain sucks. Also, I mainly use my hotmail account, which there isn't really an app for yet. So I have two things. 1. To find a much better email client for android. And 2. To find a way to get all my hotmail to my android. Now, I can fully access and export my entire hotmail account from inside outlook. But I haven't found a way to import pst's into android yet.

I lot of people say K9 mail is the best. I would say its the best of the non-Gmail apps out there. I can't use any other mail besides gmail because I'm so used to the threaded conversations. BUT, Gmail could be better for sure.

Use Seven email client (latest version 7.5.4)with homescreen widget support
It supports Gmail/yahoo/Hotmail/AOl n more
It is push mail client.
I see that you've gotten some good suggestions. I just wanted to tell you to avoid POP3 at all costs. It's a very primitive protocol and should really only be used as a last resort. Use at least IMAP.

Hotmail can be setup for push just like Exchange.
In the email app, tap Add Account, then put in your email address and password and then tap "Manual Setup"
Tap "Exchange Account"
Set the Incoming Mail Server: m.hotmail.com
Leave Domain blank
Set your username to your full @hotmail email address (i.e. include @hotmail.com or @live.com)
Enter your password.
Tap finish.
I recommend to use K9 mail. I use it with my 6 email adresses - 1 gmail, 1 imap and 4 pop3. As far I know hotmail does support pop3, so with K9 you should be able to check all your emails, including hotmail..
K9 is a very nice email client. I've used it for about a year now with imap.

Using K9 with 4 mails accounts, 3 IMAP and one POP3.
Works flawless so far.
K9 mail client is useless as it doesnt accept Exchange, this is ridiculous
Hello All,
I'm looking for an email app for my TF,
Requirements:
1. Change Fonts size, color, Type in outgoing emails
2. View Emails in HTML mode (all images inside of email not as an attachment)
3. Should work with Exchange Server.
I have Motorola Atrix 2 phone and email application can do all above,
I bought TouchDown app for TF looks nice can do a lot except #1.
Please, let me know if there any app for my TF will do all what I need.
Thank you in advance.
You might want to look at Kaiten email. It is very customizable and I use it for 5-6 different email accounts. It has a dark theme option which I love and it's really easy to use. Here is the options menu. There are obviously sub-menus, but I am only including the main option screen as well as the fonts screen. As you can see, you can change fonts for messages, message composition, folders, etc. It's pretty awesome. You can't pick the actual point size for fonts, but it has large, larger, medium, small, smaller, tiny, tiniest. It should cover what you want.
Sent from Optimus..
One more thing, it does have Exchange support. Touchdown is probably better in terms of the different activesync setups that it allows, but Kaiten works for my work email. We have Exchange 2010 and I have Kaiten set up to use OWA so I can't guarantee it will work for you, but it's worth a shot. The devs are pretty good so they might refund it if it doesn't work for you long term.
Here are the different accounts you can set up (below).
Hope this helps

I second Kaiten. I have it on my TF and Nexus.
Skickat från Qs Mobilen (Galaxy Nexus)
Couldn't make Kaiten to work with our Exchange Server,
any other ideas?
Am I the only one who need those features?
Bogus man.. Kaiten is slick.. Do you guys use Exchange 2010? If so you should be able to use the OWA stuff for the setup. I'll check to see what OWA server I'm using. It's NOT the same as the OWA URL I use to get online.
Sent from Optimus..
One other thing, do you need approval from work to access it? I work in IT at my company and we require authorization for ActiveSync, but I've found ways around that using OWA. It's similar to how Outlook 2010 sends/receives email when you're not connected to your VPN/LAN at work.

Did you guys know this?
I think I am screwed for my email accounts.
Trying to sort out email alternatives with forwarding and such. MS has really come up with a convoluted email system, with their Outlook.com alias, etc.
I like the Surface, but I am a techy - I can see where the average user will have issues wit hthe way they do things and the lack of easy help.
It has options for pop3...What type of email do you have that it's giving issues with??

It has an option for Pop, but when you choose it, it will come up with an error saying its not supported . I see there are workarounds with forwarding and such but not as clean.
Until I can sort out I am forwarding all my mail through Gmail which I can pull into the Surface
The email that is causing all this is roadrunner.com
I didn't have any issues setting up my pop3 account hosted with ipower
you may need update the build-in mail app in Windows Store to newest version.
its not only RT. The windows 8 mail app doesnt support pop...... yet.
That is a curious decision by Microsoft. I haven't used a pop account in at least three years so no big deal for me.

Windows Live Mail
Windows Live Mail supports POP3, so there's a free alternative. I haven't used POP3 in a long time, except with my comcast account, which I don't need to check everywhere, but I do have it configured in WLM.
So, I just checked my Surface, and sure enough, it does NOT support POP mail accounts. It actually tells you right when you choose POP that it's not supported and requests you ask your provider to supply IMAP or Exchange accounts.
I bought the surface two days ago on the Microsoft Store opening on San Juan. I did it tomuse it more to work and the first think I did was try to installs my work email. It is a pop3 and I really can't believe is not working... this should be a business oriented tablet.
I tried the work around but I need when I replay an email to go with my work email, not my Hotmail account.
If some one know an app that do it please let me know.

The Mail app is generally complete junk for any non-EAS accounts. It literally would've been more fully-featured if they just ported over the Windows Phone 7.5 mail app (which supports POP3). IMAP support is horrendous (WP7's is also not great, but less atrocious), and lots of certificate-related issues.
Currently my main email account (IMAP) half-works-- sometimes emails load, but nothing sends (permanently stuck in outbox), and two other IMAP accounts don't work at all (doesn't accept the settings, which work fine on Outlook and WP7.5). Exchange accounts generally work fine.
The message they give you after you select POP3 might as well have a trollface on there.
I don't have the surface. But in add and remove, Windows companies, mail service, you need to check the pop protocol. I know my orders aren't as it is on the screen. But it's what I can remember.

That menu 1) doesn't exist in Windows RT and 2) even on Windows 8, it only affects Outlook, not the Metro Mail app.
I can't believe we are now a month after release of the Surface and still no POP3, or Mail program fix. On other forums and MS' own support forum, people are fuming about this stupid decision to ignore POP3 and people are returning. I know moit email providers have gone IMAP, but there are plenty of big ones who haven't yet and isn't MS all about customer choices.
Another thing - even in IMAP, if your SMTP outgoing server doesn't have SSL then you won't be able to send mail either. The only email I have that works is Gmail, and its the one I don't use much. Can't send business mail from my Surface.
I guess they want this thing to fail so they can upsell us all to the Surface Pro. . .
I am totally agreed. I read that MS push updates every second Tuesday of the month, so hopefully they fix it...

"Oh no! MS prioritized the better, faster, more secure protocol instead of the vestigial sack of puss my primary email still uses! How ridiculous!" -Everyone in this thread.
They'll get around to pop3, but is forwarding your mail to an imap account really a nuisance? You'll get all the advantages of imap AND the original pop account acts as a backup for all mail in case something goes wrong.

Yes it is - SMTP is broken too for some mail servers - I can't send a stupid work email with my real email address, which is IMPA on incoming.
Your response of get around to it sounds absurd a month after launch. Believe it or not some mail providers still do use POP3, and we shouldn't have to change our email to use the surface. Its things like this that will kill RT before it even gets off the ground.
News is that MS is already cutting back on production of the Surface - Here we go.
