Hey, it's my toshiba!
i appologise if this is a stupid question but do you think cleaning and making the motherboard and cpu and everything nice and clean and shiny and removing dust and muck or whatever will make the phone have a longer life and perform better?

A qualified yes to your question....
A buildup of dirt may in time cause unwanted electrical contact and possibly spurious behaviour. This would be more likely if there was carbon or metal dust present; unlikely in normal domestic usage.
If you do want to clean, then I would strongly recommend using a proper 'air-duster' aerosol for stuff like fluff or if necessary a proprietary electronic cleaning solvent (eg Electrolube, which can be obtained from Maplin or Radiospares or a similar supplier). Do not attempt to brush the circuit board or use things like cotton buds as there is a high risk of causing mechanical damage to components.
Hope that is of some help...
Best regards,
Kevin
could someone tell me what is this and what value it have.... that i have missing on pcb of mi tg01
Unfortunately, I dissasemble my TG01 2 days ago. If I dissasemble it apart soon, I would look.
Mine Too!
My TG01 has just started to do exactly the same thing
I have to wiggle the USB charger vigorously in the jack just to get it to charge, and it always drops the connection halfway through syncing when connected to the copmuter
I'm thinking about opening it up and taking a closer look at the connector, I just want my TG01 back to normal again Maybe I'll even try replacing the jack using some parts off ebay depends if the jack looks loose
I'll open it up some-point this weekend and take a look for you onell...
You marked left one but I can see missing part on the right....
the right piece is there but is not a good picture..... the left one is missing
This is Zener diode 1N4764A-TAP or similar cos E2 mean GLASS-e2
thank you very much.... i replace that zenner diode .... but usb still dont work.... i gess something else is fried uffff..... any ideas?

My suggestion: On these days, you can find a TG01 for 100€ or less googlyng a bit.
You can also ask for a TG01 with broken screen for a bargain....
And if you only want the Motherboard, you could contact with someone needing the touch screen and share it!
good luck!
Problem is there is no FUSE in the usb charging line as is in majority handsets with usb charging and usb host.
My tg01 cannot charging using wall charger.I think its burn the charger ic and smell like burning rubber before.Anyone know which one is the charger circuit ic?.Is there charging ic is the right one on upper pics???

Hi Guys
I found that making one is easier. Just take your headset, open the mic housing with a knife, remove the headphones and solder a 3.5 jackplug in. In the pics here I used a Touch Dual headset...It has a volume control.

Hi Driskol
This one you are looking at will not work. There are of these adaptors availible for the HTC, But the one in the link you sent has a mini usb plug and not the HTC type...However that is exactly the ones I use to convert the standard headsets.
The standard MiniUSB has all its conections on the wide side of the connector, where the HTC connector has all the audio connections on the narrow side. see pic

he he..I´m very familiar with this procedure since I used Motorola phones for years It was the best way how to make own adapter ´cause I tried 4 stock motorola adapters and no of them worked properly so I did it my way
btw: mini usb from motorola doesn´t work on HTC for audio - it works only for data connection
I just received my order from http://cnn.cn/shop/audio-adapter-ext...ap-p-4118.html
...they are cheaper & quicker... it fits and works well on my HTC Diamaond...

I think I can get original Motorola guide for service centers on disassembling XT720. Will try to do it and will post the results here.
Took mine apart today...
its fairly simple and only 6 screws
two are exposed
two are partially exposed near the bottom
and two are hidden (under 8.0 xenon sticker and the other is under a screw sized sitcker in the corner by the lense)
Yeah I ended up just doing it. It wasnt bad. But I needed to changed the earpiece speaker which is attached to the line in jack, power button, and volume keys via a ribbon that is sticky taped around a thin edge of the case. It was a *****, but not that bad. Sorry I didnt take any pics. Too impatient.
Had the misfortune of breaking one of the SIM slot pins.
Hope you guys could help out here. How to remove the screws under :
a) Speaker Grill without damaging the grill
b) Stickers (beside the camera and the 8.0 label) without damaging them
thanks
danny
Both are sticky taped on. Grab under an edge and peel off.

Hi, I have disassembled XT720, replaced digitizer then assembled back but I have to same issue - phone is not powering up. So I revert old digitzer back but the same ... I'm really sure that I make all of processes very precisely, no connectors are unplugged, everything is on right place ... everything is like before.
Is there any thing what I missed? Thank you for feedback.

Purchased in Israel (eline)

IMEI: 358967049XXXXXX

I need to replace the display and I was thinking about buying this, however the site warns that there are two types of LCD flex cables - narrow and wide. Is there any way to know (without opening up the phone) whether I have the narrow or wide LCD flex cable ?
And if I do have to open the phone up, what is the minimum I need to do in order to determine the flex type (going by tutorials such as this, this or this)? Also, I don't have any reference, so even if I see the cable I'm not sure how I'll be able to tell whether it's the narrow or wide one ?
Thanks

I need to buy the right display replacement according to the flex cable type. I thought that by providing the P/N, S/N and IMEI (the latter two in censored form, of course) I might provide enough information to deduce the type.

I really don't know man... if i were you, i'd go to a local service centre and ask them how to determine which type of cable my phone uses... I know taht's not very helpful but that's all i could think of right now. I'll try to get more details and get back to you if i find something useful.
Sent from my PC without the XDA/Tapatalk app. Ha!!
The first of your tutorials, I believe at 2:30 you can see the flex connectors. So since you have to disassemble your phone anyway when the screen arrives, look at it as training
The question is - ok, you see the flex, how do you know if it's the "narrow" or the "wide" one, these aren't absolute terms. I suggest searching for some reference photos on the internet to be sure.

That's great! Since you'll have to take the phone apart to replace the digitizer anyway, i suggest you do it now, and see what cable you have... and order the appropriate one accordingly.

I think this is the digitizer I bought:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item5d3db9cd39
It didn't work and I had to buy an LCD so I bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Screen-...-Desire-S-S510E-G12-Narrow-Flex-/310517355375
Neither worked for me, but it may be my fault for incorrect assembly, or the fault of the lab that tried to fix it.
So there is no way to know if for example my HTC Desire S have a Narrow or a Wide cable?
The only possible way to examine that is to tear the phone apart? ^^
Hmm, then i might need to buy this or something? :
General Cellphone Replacement Repair Open Tools ( +,-,T5,T6,Plastic Tools *2)
So there is no possible way by using the P/N or S/N to know if there is a Wide or Narrow cable?
Not sure if hardware questions are allowed here, but my vibrate motor (I purposely avoided using the term vibrator) is making a chirping noise now, and I'm wondering how hard it is to replace. I saw some YouTube videos on replacing the screen, but nothing specific to the vibrate motor. I build/upgrade my own PCs routinely, and also repair my laptops, cars, a/c unit, or whatever else needs fixing, so I'm not scared to work on my cellphone either.
I know what happened to cause the noise. I sprayed some electrical contact spray into the mini-USB port to clean it out, and apparently some of the spray got into the vibrate motor as well. Doh!
Probably should still be in Q/A , but anyways. If you can work on a PC, or have worked on a PC Mother Board. Then replacing the motor should be no issue. It's fairly straight forward. It will take you more time to get to it, then to actually replace it.

Probably most similar to working on a laptop with all the layers involved. PCs are easy to open and work on. On laptops, you have to remove the keyboard before doing anything else, so similar to having to remove the panel underneath the battery on a cell phone first. The biggest problem may be finding a schematic of where the vibrate motor is located. So far, everything I have seen is about changing the screen, so they don't mention the vibrate motor.

No-go on replacing the vibrate motor. It's soldered into the board, and too risky to heat it up because it's so close to other connectors. The battery and USB connectors are right next to the vibrate motor, and you don't want to melt those connectors by accident. I guess I'll have to live with the squeak. I've already turned off all Haptic feedback responses, and am just leaving vibrate on for ringing and messaging notfications.
There are places that will replace parts like that for you around here. But where you live IDK. You could ask at an electronics shop. See if they have any people they could recommend.

That was actually the advice I got from one of those shops. Very nice and knowledgable guy. He popped the back and removed the board while I watched. He said he could try it, but that it was very risky and he wouldn't advise it. I suggested spraying some WD-40 into the motor, but he said it would leave a white residue everywhere from the propellent gases of the can, and possibly corrode some of the plastic parts, which made sense. He did blow some regular compressed air into it, but that didn't help. He didn't charge me anything.
It was kinda cool when he booted my phone and saw the flash screen (a spinning blue bee at the time). It started a whole discussion about rooting.
That's definitely the route I would go. I've seen the repair shop around here do some really delicate work. They have some specifically designed equipment to get the job done. But I've seen them work on everything from a Motherboard for a CPU, to an OG EVO. A Spinning Blue Bee you say

The Spinning Blue Bee works well, but apparently the bee has a problem with the WeatherBug.
Attached is a picture of the motherboard.
I have made a circle on one part of it. As you can see, there is a blue thing to the right - before, there were 2 blue things next to eachother. But the left blue thing is now gone, I don't know where... But seems like it has fallen out somehow...
Is it possible to solder this together? Or do I need the blue thing there?
When trying to use the motherboard, everything works very well - EXCEPT the touch screen, I cannot do anything because the screen doesn't feel my fingers (nowhere on the screen). And no, I have no clue if this is the reason for the touch screen not to work, but that's my guess as it worked good before.
Any help would be much appreciated, I don't have much knowledge about soldering and so on, as you might already have understood from my description above...

I would highly suggest that you do not try soldering if you don't have any previous knowledge or experience. As for if the "blue thing" is needed or not I am unsure because I myself know little about what each piece does on the board. But as far as the touch screen issues goes, if the touch screen worked before the blue piece came of, it most likely has to do with it. If it didn't (or even if it did work before), try finding a second device that is the same as yours (or if its cheap and you can afford it order a new lcd/digitizer for it) and try connecting it to that motherboard and see if it works, if so problem fixed, if not, you may be able to take i to a phone repair place and have it fixed, though most times getting a new motherboard/device would be cheaper.

Thanks for the reply.. I have actually ordered two other "broken" phones, so I will receive them in a week or something... And I will do exactly what you suggested, to try another motherboard and see if it is a problem with the screen or motherboard. I am very sure it is the motherboard though, because the lcd and digitizer worked great just before I discovered that.
Would still appreciate answers regarding soldering this, if that is possible or not.
