how does it work and is it more a gimmick?
Idk if this has any relation but the Nintendo 3DS works without glasses and that was pretty awesome. I played with one and it was sweet. It showed 3D pretty well. I found out it really depends on the angle your viewing it on. But 3D non glasses does work.
cool thanks i was looking into buying the 3d or atrix being i have sprint 3d is looking to be the better choice ima go check out the 3ds to get the idea and concept.

If that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNCTE1lHaaI is how lg optimus 3d record in 1080p I'll say thank you. Its better to record in [email protected] than [email protected]
I voted LG, the HTC looks like it's not coming out in the UK
Also, on the 1Gb vs 512Mb debate, Sense 3.0 takes up a HUGE amount of RAM, so much so that the HTC Sensation (768Mb RAM) occasionally stutters and isn't as fast as the Evo 3D

Have you tried HTC EVO 3D yet, to compare both phones, if yes, which you think is better and why?
^
nope, only manage to see some review units.
3D wise, the optimus 3D wins hands down.
the 3D on the evo 3D looks pale and awkward and it is difficult to find the right spot for the evo 3D's 3D viewing.
i haven't tested evo 3d's software and overall performance so i can't really comment on that.
LG has a better 3D UI plus comes with 3D Games
Does the HTC come with Games etc?
But I voted 3310 snakes FTW
I ony heard of one preloaded movie, which would be the green hornet. Haven't heard of any preloaded 3d games. Could be wrong though.

I´ve just read some first impressions from the EVO guys and almost everyone is impressed by the 3D Features of their phone so far. Even those that had a rather negative attitude towards that aspect in advance.
Given that the O3D got better ratings (regarding 3D) in every comparison (but one) this is quite exciting don't you think?
To answer the poll:
I obviously chose the O3D. I just like the Omap Chipset better and i really like the direction LG is heading at the moment. Their latest handsets are of some really high quality and i'd like to support them. The O3D is a good looking device and i really hope that it gets some serious attention here at XDA.
Come on LG. Hurry up. Release this bad boy already!!!!! Want some custom roms on it!!! I know xda devs can make this phone an even better device.

I must say I agree with you that LG seems to be going in the right direction, however I don't know if they're really there yet. The fact that the O3D comes with Froyo (no idea when Gingerbread will actually arrive) and some experiences with the 2X disappoint me. In addition, the Evo 3D seems to be capable of doing portrait 3D as well which is a plus over the O3D.
I'll just wait if and when the Evo 3D gets released here in Europe and check here regularly to see the experiences of a number of users.
LG O3D looks like the better choice because it has better specs, but if HTC Evo3D is cheaper, I may choose that instead.
The few extra pixels of the Evo3D may compensate for the crappier 3D it may have...

Well, it would be foolish not to see that there still is much room for improvement on LG side to get accepted on a broader base.
Public relations and customer support is still bad and they almost seem to stumble while trying to catch up. Of course i heard of the reboot problems of the 2X and the fact that the O3D will ship with Froyo is irritating to say the least. But these points are still no dealbreakers for me. This baby is open for developers and is a very good foundation for future updates.
And let´s not forget that the EVO3D seems not to be the heavyweight contender that has been expected by a lot of people. After reading all the available reviews i feel that it has been rushed. While still being a top notch handset, it doesn't seem to bring the expected htc-quality to the table.
It´s kinda sad and also surprising to see that a lot of the HTC fellas seem to be too stubborn to acknowledge what the O3D has to offer. It´s an LG with 512MB so it has to suck...
I really hope to see some honest comparisons by some of the major websites soon!
Btw, if they somehow managed to accomplish 3D in both orientations, which i still believe is mostly imagination by the few who say it works - no offense, it also seems to go at the cost of overall 3D quality.
from phonedog
Though it's the first 3D smartphone to come to a US carrier, I've been working with the unlocked LG Optimus 3D, and I have to say, EVO's 3D abilities aren't as strong. The colors seem to be a bit washed out, and the 3D effect is more brash than the Optimus 3D. After viewing it for five or ten minutes, I had a headache
p.s. LG italy told me that O3D and 2X developer teams are different.

What phone should I get. I have had bad luck with samsung and that's what's holding me back on nexus. The Evo 3D with 2 cores looks nice. So I will upgrade from my transform Friday what do you think?
Sent from my Life-Line using TapaTalk.
I picked up an Evo 3D last Friday, and it's a great phone. The dual core processor is way snappy... no noticeable lag when doing anything. However, if rooting your phone is important, then you may want to hold off. HTC said they'd unlock the bootloader, but they're currently shipping the 3D's with a locked version. Furthermore, they've yet to say anything since launch regarding the issue. I rarely used programs that required root, so I can deal for the time being. If rooting and/or custom roms aren't anything you care about, then get the 3D today!
I've heard the Evo 3D is super slick, though I still think 3D is a bit gimmicky at this point. Then again, I have no problems buying into gimmicks, lol. I would personally go with the Evo.
I would go for the EVO 3D, specced with cool stuff
Bought the Nexus S 4g on the 6/4 for my gf. I liked the ns4g, its sleak and very lightweight. The specs are good and its a snappy phone that ran every app I tried. Of course there isnt a bunch of pre loaded garbage in them. We went to Vegas earlier in the month and it had a problem with internet connectivity, when my evo shift would have no issue at all.
Then I looked at the specs of the 3d and figured that the hardware in the e3d would be on the cutting edge for a good time to come(whereas the ns4g seems to be at the end of its cycle with a single core processor), so we went and swapped it out yesterday. The e3d is definitley cool, loaded with a ton of bloat, but its fast. The 3d pictures are very cool, maybe gimmicky, but nonetheless very fing cool.
I cant wait to see how fast it can be once its cranked up a little.

Nexus has no memory card slot.... (Dont take away what we already have)....
That is a deal breaker for me-- and the Evo is snazzier looking (and you know the Evo Dev community will have it rooted and rommed in a fing week...
Evo 3D is way better than Nexus S in many ways. However, Nexus S is one of those few phones with vanilla and it's the most likely phone to get the next update first.
Like others said, 3D is a gimmik but hey, it's cool still. If you can afford it, I'd advise you to wait a bit since 3D and dual core phones have *just* started coming out.
I picked up the 3d last week. Absolutely love it. I wasn't getting it for the 3d, thought it was gimicky also, but it actually is pretty cool. Fits perfect in the hand also

I've been offered to choose between EVO 3D and Sensation as a graduation gift
So please tell me which is better
My $0.02 ..
Pros of Sensation over EVO 3D
Looks awesome and sophisticated and more pocketable
Great dev support and a very wide variety of roms which is a very important feat for me
Shoots 1080p
Very few glitches compared to too many in the EVO 3D
Pros of EVO 3D
Brilliant 3D LCD and photography and that is truly awesome and new to the mobile world
More solid and rugged build quality
Camera shutter key
More ram (1Gb vs 768mb)
Better processor (MSM8660 vs MSM8260)
better front cam (1.3 vs VGA)
Bigger battery
In terms if Hardware there is nothing special about the Sensation compared to the EVO3D but the 8mp cam and the slimmer size
But when talking about the software
The EVO stock and modded roms are very glitchy and lots of weird stuff happens
Meanwhile the sensations roms are very stable and almost glitch free
I had my mind set for a sensation for a long while but when I saw EVO 3D in action I got blown away by the awesomeness of the 3D technology
And I'm very confused now ..
So please help me with your useful opinions
Thanks

same processor first off.
both have incredible dev support.
the 3d doesn't have as many problems as you are insinuating.
ask yourself which carrier you want to get stuck with?
I vote evo
If you want a 3D phone, go with the LG Thrill. It is quite brilliant.
Otherwise, I have played with the Sensation and EVO 3D and the Sensation is much more solid. Almost not competition. Plus, the EVO 3D totally sucks as far as the 3D aspect goes, so removing that makes it a good phone, but the Sensation is great. Everyone I know that has one loves it.
If 3D is a big deal to you, it's obvious.
But if I recall right, the Sensation has a better screen (or at least it's the same screen without a parallax barrier in front of it so it looks better.)
As long as the issue with the Sensation's touch screen dying after a few weeks has been fixed, I'd go for that.

No LG is only good in 3d while there phones generally suck in both quality and development and support
And I can't consider LG because there is no known retailer for them in egypt thus no warranty
The sensation is a great phone indeed and like I said I had my eyes set on it since the beginning but the 3d just made me confused
And btw the evo has a lot more than 3d to offer like the better front cam and more ram and I think it is more rugged and not prone to scratches like the sensation
Thanks for ur opinion

3D is a big deal but so is proper dev support and the wide variety of roms (owning an hd2 for so long made me a flashoholic)
I'm afraid of getting bored with the EVO while the sensation has weekly if not daily updates
I've kinda tried both I don't think you can feel there is a parallax barrier unless 3D is on
IDK but I haven't checked up closely
And I'm not worried about touch screen issues as it happened before in HD2 and got replaced with a much better one UNDER WARRANTY

Hi everyone, I'm am very curious to see how everyone is liking there Skyrocket? I purchased the LG Thrill 4G about 2 weeks ago and love the 3D features and I think personally it is a solid phone, but the fact that it has Android 2.2 is really killing me, and there are some minor issues with the phone such as crappy WiFi signal, supposed 4G signal strength but really its H+ and the DL speed never goes above 3Mbps, 3D features are actually pretty amazing but only flaw I've seen is while recording 3D Videos the audio is not in sync with the video at all and the LG Thrill 4G is missing the best 3D feature that its counterpart the LG Optimus 3D has which is the 3D Game Converter, my only other leaning factor to not keep the LG Thrill 4G and get the Skyrocket is because the dev community for LG Thrill is very tiny, and I'm a flashaholic LOL....anyways if your still reading please let me know your rants and raves about the Skyrocket, don't just tell me the good either if there is any issues please let me know about them. I had a LG G2X on T-Mobile when it first came out. It's the reason I'm on AT&T. LG provides atrocious support, half their devices are still on 2.2, and they're totally clueless about s/w on high-end phones. I'd dump it while you're still in your remorse period and get the SR, ASGS2, or Vivid. Anything will be better in the long run for both s/w and dev support. Read the G2X forum if you want to see what life with an LG phone looks like.
Skyrocket is superior. Noone will argue that. It's all about what you need/like/want.

Yes I exchànged the SGII for the Skyrocket and really like the device. Not much bigger or bulk compared to the SGII. The HTC Vivid is also another great device which I am testing as well. The screen resolution on the Vivid is great. So far, both devices are great and each has its pros and cons.
Test out both at the store and you can judge which will work best for you.

Haha definately agree with this +100 ^^^^^^
I've had mine for one day and I like it a lot. A definite powerhouse phone. I came from the Captivate. I need to get BLN working via a modified kernel so I can run Blinky for notifications, and a modified mail.apk that strips Exchange pin requirements. Hope I can find the right ROM and kernel for this soon. I haven't done any ROM research just yet.
Thought this was a good place to post this comment. After transferring videos filmed with my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 S II Skyrocket to my Windows 7 desktop pc (filetype is MP4), the video and audio are out of sync / not in sync / mis-aligned. File size was a mere 30MB.
This was true of Quicktime, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc.
Anyone else having a similar experience?
I haven't had issues with out of sync videos. I've uploaded videos from the SR directly to Facebook, and they turned out great. Also uploaded them to my Windows 7 PC using "Dropbox," which worked great.
To answer the question from the original poster - I love my SR. Came from an iPhone, and won't go back. Having too much fun with the SR, love the big screen, the speed, the capacity, what's not to like? My only gripe is the battery life, but I've had the same issues with other smartphones, so it just comes with the territory.
