Is the gingerbread released? I got a new update in the LG software tool, I'm going to see if it's the gingerbread update.
Update: Its version 2.2.2.... Software version LG-P509-V10S
That's not Gingerbread for sure.

how much longer till official Tmobile optimus T gets 2.3 upgrade?
Sprint rolled out their update this week I believe. Co-worker has one, said his phone freaked out so he took it to the sprint store and the Rep said he had to update it..I was skeptical so I took a look at his about phone and dammit it was 2.3 hopefully that's a good sign for the T-Mobile users.
I have a P509 from T-Mobile and waiting for the 2.3 release. Seems like everyone else has it but us. I am hoping it comes in October.

I know you've followed my rants on this before.
The chatter on the LG and TMO forums is still the same. The failed Optimus S update gives TMO all the reason they need to reject it.
All pissed off P509 owners should constantly be spamming US TMO and LG forums asking when, why, etc..... I do.
Yep, according to wiki docs on our phone, the optimus t wont be getting that official 2.3 gingerbread update, keep using unofficial versions or get a better phone-4g sensation or galaxy s2 yay!!!!!

I have the Optimus T and have been reading mostly conflicting 'do' and 'donts' about using Optimus One ROM's so I'm still not sure if I 'can' or 'cant'. I never expected to see a GB update for the phone though - it's long past that and since it is under the pay-as-you-go framework it won't get any luv.

Any P500 rom that uses the old baseband will work flawlessly on the P509. In fact the only thing I miss about the official rom is the missed message notification on the lockscreen. CM7 is superior is every other way IMO. Once the bugs are ironed out with Oxygen, AOSP and andys Phoenix I think we'll have one of the best selections of Gingerbread roms available on any phone.
Official LG GB utilizes the new baseband. The P500 baseband does not include the 1700 spectrum. This represents half of TMOs 3g network (according to Wiki).
I've flashed the P500 baseband and had no major problems. However, weird things like the launcher only showing 3 buttons instead of 5. When my phone booted it up it took an extra few seconds before I had network reception. Battery life was slightly worse compared to Official froyo. I errored on the side of caution and went back to the old baseband. Also, the idea of only having access to half the available 3g towers was a huge turn off.

LG released the update for the Optimus One and considering Gingerbread is just a refresh of Froyo, I did expect an update. Since the Optimus V, P505, P506 and all other U.S. versions of the Optimus One haven't received the update, there's little hope and little room to complain. That doesn't change the fact that I feel I've been cheated.
My only concern is if LG releases the sources for the new baseband, will the great 01 devs start to phase out support for the old baseband?
Well thanks for clarifying.

can you point me in the right direction, to a rom were mms size comes in normal! because everytime i try a rom my mms come in to small and thus my pictures are thumbnails like! i know i've complain about this in the past, but your saying p500 roms would work flawlessly on the p509 and maybe i'm flashing the wrong roms! if you can help that would be great?
ps. i would like to flash the openoptimus the one with the old baseband you think it would work?

The small mms issue is because Tmo doesn't recognize the phone (don't ask, it makes no sense to me either). A rom like cm7 has an option in sms settings to change the user agent. Third party apps do too.
Any rom based on official LG like openoptimus won't have this option.
If you prefer official LG without a third party app, it may be possible to decompile the mms.apk and edit the user agent.

Yeah i just flashed, absolutely no network signals. Wifi and Bluetooth working fine.
Now I am under the impression that the camera on this phone has greater capabilities then any of the android operating systems (including roms) allow am i correct in this thinking?? and was the lg camera the best?
currently i am running latest eaglesblood which i like very much so.
i am not that tech savy and have a hard time understanding the complexites of video and capture with 720p and all will there be an upgrade?? for cm7 based roms
basically where do we stand and where are we going for 2.3.5 with camera??
ps. same basic question but with hdmi??
IMO the lg camera rules. The CM7 based cameras are very dark, they don't see light properly. Eagles blood does not play nice with stock lg camera. I tried flashing lg cam to it and it replaced both camera apps that come biult in. It also stoped me from getting a signal, and no battery indicator.
Probably try cm7 nightly 2.3.4 and try installing stock camera there. Not sure if that will work. I will try and respond here.
DO NOT USE LG CAMERA WITH CM7 IT IS NOT COMPATIABLE JUST YET. DIDNT YOU READ THE THREAD? THAT IS WHY IT DOESNKT WORKON EB BECAUSE IT IS CM7 BASED. IT WILL BE COMPATABLE BUT doniqcc said it is going to take a lot of work be wise the framework is completely different Anyway that's the deal just be pacient it will happen.

Try installing the latest MIUI... 1.9.11 I believe.
The camera in that is AMAZING. Touch-to-focus works great, and focuses really well. Better than the LG Cam IMO, and it's 2.3.5 based!
import
now i tried the miui rom and in my experience i had so many bugs and fc
would it be possible to import that to cm7 or cm7 based roms?
waiting for the next whole none nightly solid CM7.
jbdaka6445 is right miui sucks. Actually it is a decent looking ROM espicially if you like the ****ty Iphone. But I hafd it installed and Iusually keep a New ROM installed at least a few days but I could not staND ALL THE FC AND BUGS.
What the best rom for our G2X with good performance and good battery life
How about reading? Have you tried that?
There is no 'best ROM.' That's like asking what's the best car or what's the best food, it all comes down to personal preference.
Really, you can't go wrong with any of them. I've found the best battery life to be with Tsugi 2.3.4 or Weapon G2x. MIUI and CM7 have a little faster drain, but it's not too noticeable, but you get tons of customization in exchange. In my experience with custom kernels, they all perform about the same, which is a good thing, they've all super fast.
Also, what Beekersguy said, this question gets asked literally every day.
Sent from my Tsugi G2x using XDA Premium App
Yeah, there are literally dozens of threads with the same title as yours. They all get answered the same, with the only difference being the addition of Tsugi.
Simple question gets a simple answer. CM7.
Yes, but there is very limited number of roms, most of the roms are about an month and a half old without any updates to them.

Quality over quantity.
I've only used Weapon G2X as of now and I like it a lot to be honest with you.
Everyones replies are true there is no real answer to that question.
Also, which version are you looking for...Froyo or GB
If its Froyo...go for Ultimate ROM,as for a GB rom i wouldn't know because i'm just waiting for ICS to come out and not deal with the constant GB updates but thats me. So for GB roms, other opinions should be taken into account.
The honest answer to this question is:
Whichever Rom works best for you...
That sounds like a cop-out but, follow me on this... The problem with the G2X was lousy support from LG from the beginning. That means that all of the Roms suffered various glitches. Froyo Roms (which I never experienced since I didn't have a G2X back then), Gingerbread Roms, both 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 all have had glitches. Cyanogen has never been 100% either, nor has MIUI...
What that means is, there's not a single Rom that can say "I have it ALL WORKING 100%". Such a best does not exist on the G2X, despite any claims to the contrary.
Even Tsugi has a number of issues. Some are due to my lack of ability, but others come down to buggy LG code. Without source code, we merely try to hack and patch to get things working better.
Cyanogen of course has source code, but has little information regarding internal workings, and unfortunately no dedicated developers working ONLY on the G2X.
So, in the end, you decide WHICH rom offers you the best features with glitches you can live with.
In general:
LG 2.3.3 Roms: Seem to have more Screens of Death & Random Reboots, but some people have bluetooth issues.
LG 2.3.4 Roms: Seem to have a little better battery life and stability overall, but there seem to be some USB issues for a few users, and some have bluetooth issues.
CM7 Roms: Battery life isn't as good, GPS isn't quite as reliable (not that it's 100% on LG roms either)
MIUI Roms: All the issues of Cyanogen + most people cannot get Wifi Calling to work.

As one of those users with USB issues I presume you are referring to, I just wanted to clarify -- it's really an issue with unmounting the SD card (which happens when you set it up for USB access), not limited to USB access. Just going into Settings and unmounting the card directly usually reboots the phone, just like attempting to set it up for USB access.
I have tried CM7 and MIUI 1.18 and both are having problem with black screen and rebooting....
I'm using Tsugi Rom and so far I love it. I do however prefer the other camera, BUT its better to have this camera working than none at all
Great phone I think.
Im on MIUI and have camera problem too. Like it takes a few times to open up the camera or its just black screen...
Kang_clam
I have been using Kang Clam ROM for a few weeks now and its awesome. Its based on 2.3.7 and works great. Very well designed and very good battery usage.

It does mostly depend on what you want in a rom. Cm7 is the most popular and known for its theming capability. Miui is known for looking a lot like ios. Most of the others are based off stock.
I personally use Whitehawkz's weapon g2x rom, since it comes with a stock launcher and a touchwiz launcher that is quite nice.
Though it IS up to you.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I like weapon, though I can't say I've tried a whole bunch to compare.
I've used CyanogenMod since CM4 and CM7 was the first ROM I loaded on my G2x. A while back I loaded Weapon as a change of pace and haven't looked back.
Weapon G2x works fine so far
I've been using weapon 3.0 R1 for a few weeks now and it has yet to do the random freeze or reboot the stock ROM does sometimes. I haven't had to pull the battery out once! Sometimes the stock ROM would freeze so bad I'd have to pull the battery. Anyone else's G2x do this with the stock ROM?
I'm also getting pretty good battery life from weapon even with Wifi, bluetooth, and GPS on all day long.
It says I've been on the battery for 9h 15m 34s and it's at 69% right now.
Battery use says
Cell standby 24%
Wifi 24%
Bluetooth 24%
Phone idle 22%
I do use the TMobile Wifi calling feature because my tower coverage at my house is poor. And since I work at home and I'm here all day I just leave the Wifi calling on and just use that for (not always)perfect calls.
Ive tried a bunch of roms. For me right now its Bionix 1.2.1. A 2.3.3 rom. Kinda reminds me of my old vibe in a way. Anywayz this rom is boss for me. Semi transparent parts a few themes, options for downloads, its fast on wifi 2 3 4g. Smooth no hiccups or lags no reboots or freezing
Transitions r fast n ram management hasn't Been a problem for me. Did I mention its TEAM WHISKEY?!
So i've been doing some research about cyanogen mod 9 for my HTC desire and have read all the people's comments about how good it is but an still not convinced. I mean that i've heared that cyanogenmod 9 does not make your camera work. Thats a major set back isn't it? Also there are some other serious probs e.g WiFi, Google play apps e.t.c. So is cyanogenmod 9 worth all these troubles? Whats the up side?
The main benefit, is it gives people like me who own devices (samsung infuse) that dont get official ICS updates. It runs great on my device, and i prefer it to any other rom ive tried, but i use my sixaxis controller with my phone, and due to bluetooth not working im using CM7 til that issue is resolved. but in all honesty CM9 is the best custom Rom available for my device at least it you dont need bluetooth. it runs great and my battery life is great.
what about andriod apps. do apps run on such a firmware.
(espicially games)??
They certainly do! It's just like a normal ICS device - there's the Play Market and you can install any app suited for ICS
BTW, CM9 rocks, AOKP even more!
I Cyanogen 9 with my HTC ONE X. I also have problems with the Bluetooth works partially. After each ROM is different. Much like me, flash your phone to find THE right ROM.
Cyanogenmod 9 is brilliant if it's stable build. From your description they're still working on it,so I'd urge you be patient and try cyanogenmod 7 instead.
Or,check out MIUI4 rom if you're still interested in ICS
Sent from my U8150 using XDA
The matureness of CM9 depends also on the device you own, and the available or unavailable drivers - in your case it seems there are problems with the cam.
I suggest to get CM7.2 instead, till those problems are fixed on your device.
CM9 will always run as It provides you the best latest features from google.
Only "problem" I've experienced on CM9 on my Epic 4g is that Dead Space is no longer recognized as an authorized device. Other than that, I enjoy using it over GB. It feels like the interface makes "more sense," but of course that's just a personal preference.
I not a huge fan of CM9 ...as i ahev flashed in S2 couple of times ...but still the force close issue persist with the nightly builds(ICS)...!!

cm9
Using experimental cm9 build on Atrix. It's worth it, but it comes with sacrifices.
My phone is much much faster, smoother, and prettier. But at the cost of stability with the camcorder, and some obscure cm7 features.
Is the g2x ever going to get a stable cm10 or cm9?

I'll be amazed if the RIL starts working.
Not that mazout360 isn't trying hard for us.
I'm stuck with this phone till December 2014, so I'd love to see it happen, but it's a mighty bleak future.
"my mind draws lots of blanks actually"
thats a big turn around because when the ics update came out for the optimus 2x everyone was so sure the g2x would get a quick port and the g2x would be rocking Jelly bean or ICS. i guess thats dead now.
To be honest, both the CM9 and CM10 Hackfest builds are fully stable for me, and I haven't noticed any lag with Mazout's new kernel. With CM10 you semi-sacrifice Wifi however. Lacking hardware acceleration has not really bothered me at all. The GPS could be better, and it would be nice if the phone did not heat up so much, wasting a huge amount of power but the phone is fully usable and if development stopped right now then I would still be happy to hold on to this phone for a year or two.
why isnt data not working for cm10 but for cm9? also since optimus 2x and g2x are similar as far as hardware, how come g2x doesnt have touch to focus video recording like optimus 2x? i just want the new ics and jb android features im tired of GB...
Blacklist option in PA 12 for p999?
Hi, I'm using PA 12 on my g2x with Harsh's OC Kernel. I'm trying to find out where the option in the rom is to blacklist calls? Coming from CM7.1 I'm used to being able to just hold down on the number a second and the option comes up... I'm not even seeing a blacklist to manually add numbers too. If anyone knows, help is appreciated .
