I normally use about 2-3 GN a month, lol my plan really is unlimited without the clause as i have had it for nearly two years. i never worry about how much i have used
Download an app that monitors what's eating all of your bandwidth. Odds are that it's some rogue app that you installed that just constantly trying to sync data. Are you watching a ton of youtube videos in HD or netflix movies? Both for long periods of time will zap your data.
Only one I've heard of is 3g watchdog. What ones tell you exactly what uses data? That would be awesome!

I think that's it. It should also show you real quick what's hogging your data. FB and twitter feeds, as well as news widgets, weather widgets, and other widgets that need a live feed will all zap your data pretty fast. If you're using a ton of widgets you may want to change their sync settings to see if that makes a difference.
Only see total amount of data....leme know how to see what apps are using data if possible. Thanks

I think you have to get the paid version of 3g watchdog to break down usage by program/service.

I don't understand the change in my bill...I just saw it when I logged in to my.t-mbile.com which I rarely ever do. And yes the Sensation pushes a lot of data so this kind of concerns me...

What is the difference between ANDRD UNL Web vs this Unlimited data - 5 GB of high-speed data included??? Does that mean I only get 5GB of internet usage max per month as opposed to not having a cap before? Why would they have to change this if this phone is also an android?

WTF? 2gb in a WEEK? Don't know what you are doing but sensation on its own is not capable of doing it even if you turn sync on every minute.

Agreed! I use about 2.5 Gb a week but that's with lots of Netflix/Youtube HQ streaming and downloading games via 4g.
-edit-
And that is with wifi NEVER on.
I have the same issue, Watchdog tells me its HTC using up the data as in Friends, calendar email etc

You can always call t-mo and ask for your old plan back.
If you couldn't get Watchdog for free
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aloudroid.suividata
'Track your 3G' seems to do the same thing, but is free.
4G to 3G isnt that much of a big drop.
I used 40GB from my 2GB usage. Never noticed a difference when it dropped to 3G
I usually connect to WiFi whenever it is available. Haven't had an issue since.
Get bandwidth monitor from the market, it splits wifi/3g use and also lists individual apps usage.

Hey
I want to know if there is a app that allows you to set for example a x GB limit from the start of the month to the end of the month. Most have bandwidth caps and this would be a nice way to control it with Android displaying "You are going over your monthly data limit"
Thanks.
Try 3G watchdog from the market. It does exactly what you want

I'm curious if there's an app that'll track\report data usage, and break it down between wifi and gprs\cellular data. I'm using my Inspire 4G on a network that doesn't provide me usage reporting, so I'm curious if "there's an app for that" hehe
Thanks!
PS - I'm rooted so if it's a root-needing app that's fine too.
This works great for me

If I was on ATT I would do that or just login to my online account... I have an unmetered data provider, who doesn't report back usage, so I just want a way to know for my own curiosity.
Thanks
Data counter widget by Roy Solberg is pretty cool.

I've been using DroidStats for a couple days now. Seems to work well but I may try some others to compare.
I have the APk from my old Samsung galaxy tab. Its a widget that shows your live data usage. I'm not sure about the legality of posting the apk here if anyone wants it shoot me a pm. Seems to work well on any system I've tried it on.

The free "Traffic Monitor" widget from the market isn't bad. It shows wi-fi vs OTA traffic with upstream, downstream, and total data used. It also breaks the data down by individual apps and does have a built-in speedtest.

There is a monitor application that comes on the MIUI rom that does this. You could probably pull the apk from the rom if you don't want to use MIUI. Or it could be a market app for all I know.

Data counter widget.
Those without unlimited minutes will take comfort in the fact that T-Mobile will not count wi-fi calling against your minutes starting 5/11:

This just plain kicks butt!
I bee happy!
Awesome. Man my gf would really benefit that. She constantly goes over her minutes and we have a great wifi connection here.

Isn't wifi using my bandwidth
I don't understand how t-mobile could count this against your minutes in the 1st place. Are you using their system in any way when you are on a wifi call? It's like skype right? Your using your broadband providers bandwidth. Why should you pay tmobile at all? If anything your're saving their bandwidth when making calls on wifi.
Or do I have this all wrong? It's moot for me cause I'll be on the unlimited plan when these activate tomorrow.
But when I first saw mention of the wifi calling, it never occured to me that Tmobile was charging for it.
Same thing with surfing the web on wifi...you are taking the strain off their system.
They use your bandwidth to an endpoint they own and then switch the call normally over their networks.
With WiFi connectivity you don't traverse their servers so it doesn't cost them.

....meaning Skype?
That would not be correct. Calls still have to be routed through their network--through their PBXs and switches.

I was out of town for a week and didn't have internet so I tethered my laptop and tablet off of my phone all week. Was checking out data usage :
CHRISTOPHER's Current Usage Summary - Data
Data Messaging
24900.28 MB 503
Current Usage displayed as of:
May 14, 2011
Important Information
Next billing cycle starts: May 21, 2011
If I am reading that right, thats almost 25g of info. Thats just absolutely insane.
No, I don't use Sense and am on TPGB Rom. I just think its funny, good thing I have unlimited.

nahhhh my bro's uses over 10gb every month and pays normal amount of bill.
I wouldn't be laughing. Although you may have unlimited data, such a dramatic spike in data usuage may cause a red flag on your account and can cause att to look into your data usage more. If you are going to do something your not supposed to, be smart about it and keep a low profile. Food for thought.

Chances are you have unlimited. But it doesn't matter as soon as you hit your cap you will be throttled. I'm allotted 5gb a month and if I use it all before my next billing cycle I have the same problem as you. My suggestion to you would to use wifi if available or change your data plan.

I remember people cheating this on AT&T and they were busted cuz' AT&T found out. My humble suggestion is stay with the 2gb plan and try to get internet for your house. I also use my phone as main internet but I keep it cool. I have only managed to get to 4.3gb in a month using the tv shows apk. Never been able to use more than 5gb.
I know, it s**ks to be throttled. I have 2 friends that always get throttled and they want to die. LOL
hello, this not the case with me. I'm in bay area if that's matter, and im not being throttled now for 4 months in a raw.But i am with one of those grandfathered plans 20 unlimited.I have it with the blackberry 8120 witch bought 2007 it was edge.So right now im doing about 20 gb per month on average , but still not tethering .Im starting to tether tough due to very high prices on Comcast and the speed is comparable with t mobile. But i will try not not being throthled again becouse of a tethering - there is way to hide you from the pc.
