Is there a way to remove 1 of the 7 home screen panels in Sense?
I don't want to install another launcher at the moment.
Thanks
im pretty sure theres no way to do that
You can't. You just have to leave it blank.
Thanks guys, still new to Sense UI. Think I'll switch to AWD in couple of weeks when the novelty of Sense wears off.

I don't know if it is just the Sprint Hero, but the big clock widget that has the weather does not update the time. I am using DC 2.05 and have had the same problem running the stock ROM as well.
I have the transparent 2.1 flan style lockscreen so I can see the homescreen without having to unlock the phone, and unfortunetly their are 3 clocks, the lockscreen one, the one in the upper right and the HTC clock widget is in the middle and always off.
I will give an example (It is not because of the 2.1 lockscreen either, I and many others have had this problem who are using the HTC lock screen)
If i turn my phone on at 6:00 and send a text, and then turn it off,
Then check an email at 6:20, when I turn my phone on I see the transparent lockscreen so I can see the lockscreen time, and the upper right time is 6:20, but the HTC clock widget is at 6:00, becasue that is the last time I turned my phone on. Then after 2-3 seconds after I unlock my phone, the HTC clock will update to 6:20.
I know this seems reiculous but the widget takes up half of the home screen and doesn't even work right.
I have never developed an app or anything, but think I know the problem
I used Beautiful widgets and the main clock that shows the time and the weather always had the right time.
The problem must be that the HTC clock does not have access to, or is not getting the time from the system when the device is off, but rather when the phone is on, it updates it. The beautiful widgets app is, and the minute will change the same time the clock in the upper right does. However, with the HTC clock, when I am on my home screen sometimes it takes 5-6 seconds to change, even when the phone is on. So if my phone was on at 6:00 and I went on the internet for 5 minutes and click home, the HTC clock would stay on 6:00 lag for 5-6 seconds and then change to 6:05. It defeats the purpose of having a big clock..
I have searched and cannot find a fix for this, also I have had this problem when running the stock rom, and have had 2 heros, both having the problem,
any ideas, or way to fix the widget to get system time access?
hum. ive never had a problem with the stock htc clock like that. and ive ran pretty much all the roms out there.. currently on fresh 2.0d...

What he is saying is the Weather and Clock widget under the Htc Clock widget does not update the time unless you are on the home page. You put your phone to sleep, you open an app, make a call, etc and once you go back to the home screen it takes a couple of seconds to update it. Yeah, I have this issue to.
I think the reason that it doesn't update until you are on that particular home screen is to save battery life. Anything constantly checking something will reduce battery time. Might not be alot, but I think that is why.

The widgets don't update while the phone is asleep to conserve battery (as was just mentioned). You only see this behavior because you have a modified lockscreen that makes it transparent. That's not how it is was designed by HTC. The extra few seconds to unlock the phone and actually see your home screen would be the delay it usually needs to update the clock.
That or HTC could make all of their widgets continue to use cpu cycles when you aren't looking at them.
there seems to be a definate lag when pressing the home button from an app or menu
some users have said that adding launcher pro speeds it up overall, and im wondering if that gets rid of touchwiz and repaces it, or if it just sits on top?
and finally, does adding launcher pro actually help the home button lag?
torn between captivate and aria,
kago
Doesn't replace it, doesn't sit on top...Android lets you choose which home launcher it loads, but it only loads one. So you can toggle back and forth.
Try it, you'll like it.
if u change the ROM does it get rid of touchwiz?

that depends on the rom
@croak
does it load back to launcher pro faster than it does to the default?
i have tried it in the store for quite a while and im wondering if something so simple would let it match the aria in UI speed
Yes, dramatic reduction in return to home times from applications.
Its Really Easy to remove the HTC Lock Screen from your Sensation!
You Will Need Root To Do This!
I was getting lag when tring to un-lock the phone..
So all I did was rename the: htclockscreen.apk - to: htclockscreen.bck
And Now I have a lag free Lock Screen
i have no lag since 2.3.4 .. not to mention rooting sensation is direct contradiction to "Realy easy"
Thanks. I don't know that I've had any real lag issues, but I do like the option of getting rid of the "lock ring" lock screen and going with the standard Android lock screen.
I haven't decided whether to keep it like this or not, but I kind of like it.
I'll have to adjust to using a swipe across the screen instead of bottom to top to unlock though.
EDIT: Neat . . . it displays Charging (xx%) on this lock screen. That's kind of handy.
You guys are Ca-razy. The lock ring lock screen with the ability to instantly go to one of four frequently used apps is one of the main reasons I got this phone.
And as for lag, I have absolutely none with the standard lock screen.
And now you have to unlock to answer a phone call?

I didn't notice that until just a few minutes ago. (Hadn't gotten any calls 'til then).
I'm back to the original .
I hate the lock screen in general so I use "No Lock" from the market (it is free). Now I just press the button and do what I need to do without having to drag a ring.

...and another one
ive been a fan of sense since the WinMo days, but 2.1 for android sealed the deal for me, been a fan ever since (damn you homonyms!!!)
and yes, the lockscreen for 3.0 was a HUGE incentive to stay away from vanilla/asop...that, and the clock widget
A new version of ADW Launcher was released in late October 2012--both free and EX version.
Many things changed from the previous version.
Quite a few people say "it is better," but I have some issues. First, a phenomenon never seen with the previous version...often, after 'doing things,' when the phone returns to the home screen, there are no icons for brief to not-so-brief time. Very disconcerting. They do eventually populate, but it is shocking when it happens and does not leave the impression of a well-produced app.
Second, with previous versions, I =LIVED= with using the dots placed left and right of the bottom dock to move (navigate) from screen to screen. Those have disappeared, even from the fee version. On my phone, using swipes to move the screen usually launches the app your finger first touches to do the swipe--very annoying. Emails to the dev asking if the navigation dots will return have not been answered.
(NOTE: I am not talking about the INDICATOR dots at top that show what screen you are currently on.)
I present this for people who may be considering ADW to know. The previous versions I highly recommend; the latest, I do not unless issues are resolved.
Anyone know an alternative way to show opened apps? When i used Nova i could set one like "pinch out" or something.. On ADW i can't fine the way to do that.. Ι avoid using home button every time..
A new update for ADW EX was just released 11-06-12, 1.3.3.7 on my phone.
It did not put back in the dots that will navigate to different screens.
Also, the phenomenon of icons being completely missing (blank screen) after settings changes remains as well.
Disappointment continues.
Its crap. I use menu button unlock in my phone and when I do it pops up the settings screen. No way to disable it. I sent an email to the dev and got no response. going back to the old one.

He has not answered any of my two emails to him either.
Does anyone have the old ADW apk? I have a TitaniumBackup, but file in it is not the apk. ???
Attached is a screenshot to prove I have the EX version. If you only have non-EX, I will even use that--I hate this new version so much.
The ghost icons effect happens to me each time I change any ADW setting, for me it is no problem because I think it is due to the need of restarting app to make changes happen. I prefer the old scheme when you press the menu button, but I think it is just a matter of habit. Anyway, bugless for me as the previous one, and quite smooth, more than Go Launcher for example, at a friend's Galaxy 3 it makes the phone itself way faster than with Go Launcher.

I just don't see anything that is better than before, and several (important to me) things that are much worse...the "ghost" icons--I call them disappeared icons as they are gone for a LONG time on my phone, and the removal of the navigation dots for screen moves, which was my total navigation mode.
When I swipe to move screens, half the time I activate an app where my finger first touches the screen. Argghhh! I need the dots back. Author won't even answer.
OK, I think I have had a mind out of body situation here...
I deleted the new ADW EX and installed the old one (1.3.3.56). Am in the process of adding my shortcuts to the various 7 screens and setting the options and dock.
BUT...
the main reason I switched back was to get back my "navigation dots" left and right of the dock that I used to navigate from screen to screen. I cannot find how to turn the on in the options.
I have looked and looked. Can someone have mercy on me and tell me how those are commanded to be there, please?
(I KNOW they used to be available because I used them ALL THE TIME to move to different screens.)
Hello all,
I'm new to the forums. I was directed here by a friend who said you guys could help me out. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 that I am going to be installing into my car. I bought it off a buddy who already had it installed in his car. Let me explain whats going on with it and what I want it to do. I believe it is rooted but I'm not 100% sure. Right now it is using a program called Nova Launcher which allows you to use a program called Transparent Launcher so that I can make my icons transparent. This way I can make a background image with "buttons" on it and have custom icons. It runs a program called Tasker to turn the screen on when it sees a power source and off when it doesn't. That all works fine except when I hit the home key the background jumps around a little bit and then settles in the center. This only happens when I run the Nova Launcher as my home screen. When I use Touchwiz as my home screen it's perfect. Is there any way to fix that or another launcher that will let my icons be transparent? Also the screen dims out after 7 seconds and I don't ever want it to dim. Also I would like to put a soft keybar on the bottom of the screen similar to what the Nexux 7 has because I will not be able to hit the hard keys on the tablet once it is installed in my dash. I downloaded an app for that called Xperia/ASOP NavBar Buttons but it won't to work. Can anyone walk me through how to do all this or remote access my computer and do it for me? Any help Is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
Basically Nova launcher is sort of like a skin for the UI. If you go to play store and uninstall all the apps you won't be using, like Nova launcher or transparent launcher, they will go away. Also to use soft keys you will probably need to root the device and install a custom rom. This might be useful http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459817 if you need to root/flash a new rom. And here is a link to a tutorial for enabling on screen buttons http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690067
