Can we get a 4g icon like the one for eb working for cm7?
You could use UOT Kitchen to customize your CM7 ROM's icons (and just about anything else while you're at it) or you could be hardcore and modify the framework-res.apk file using something like Daneshm90's APK Manager.

Here's what I want to do...I like how the signal bars in honey comb are vertical instead of the usual horizontal. Is there a way to mod the position of the signal bars in the notification bar in cm7?
Bump

The easiest way would just be to use the Honeycomb theme for the CM7 theme chooser: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943423
If you don't want the entire theme then your best bet is to pull the stat_sys_batt png files and port them over to your current theme. The theme chooser theme apk's can be ported, they are just a bit more tedious since the png files have been slightly renamed and moved to different folders.
Someone may already have a metamorph/zipthemer mod with these signal icons, but I'm not sure.
I'll give it a try. Thanks

I just noticed you said stat_sys_batt, what's the file name for the signal bar?

Never mind. I found them. I just need to know what other file has to be replaced, such as an xml.

Yea sorry about that - meant stat_sys_signal instead of stat_sys_batt
If you're just changing the appearance of the icons, nothing else needs to be changed besides the pngs
EDIT - forgot an important detail: you'll have to hit SystemUI.apk as well, not just framework-res.apk
Is there a way to change the colors of the wifi/data, phone signal and battery icons in the status bar? I'm currently using weapon 2.4, so I'm rooted and was wondering if it might be a simple file edit to do so. If there is an app that lets you do that, I haven't found it yet but I would love to know how they work so I can potentially assign each icon a different custom color. Thanks in advance for any help.
--UPDATE--
ok so from what i've read so far it looks like i'm going to be editing some lines in the classes.dex which i extracted from the services.jar file in the framework folder. when I open up the classes.dex with baksmali i cannot find the \com\android\server\status\StatusBarIcon.smali file .. not just in that folder but anywhere within the expanded classes.dex archive. Is StatusBarIcon.smali where I'll be able to change the color of the icons in the notification bar or am I completely off track here?
You want to change the color of the icons? They are png files in the SystemUI.apk, so either pull them out and edit them in some photo software, find icons you like and add them, use a theme, or use UOT Kitchen.
do you have the "Theme Chooser" app on your phone?
If so, you might want to check out some themes and install one of those
or use Metamorph or a zip application to make your own
and remember, always backup your rom
Just use NinjaMorph, and edit SystemUI.apk... If you're looking to make them green, check my thread in the Themes section.

I can't imagine I'm the only one tinkering with UOT on my Charge and likewise not the only one having problems with certain mods. Some of them work, some don't. Hoping there is some insight on why certain mods aren't working. Also thought this would be a good place to post your own UOT .zip files for others to use. Post away!

For the boot animations, just pull them out of the zip and rename from sanim.zip to bootanimation.zip and overwrite the one that comes with the ROM (/system/media). There might be easier ways to deal with the order of precedence, but that def works.
I don't know which status bar icons aren't working for you, but I did the Colorpack V8 Animated without issue. Some of the individual icons don't map/overwrite the 'stock' Humble ones, but most do. Notably the Bluetooth, actual WiFi connected (the avail/search one does get replaced) and signal bars don't take over, but the warning, GMail, VM, Debug, USB, missed call, sync and others all bring a splash of color to my phone. Haven't tried the Power ones.
Thank you kindly for the response. Will give that a try.

BTW, flip fonts are one of the good things about Samsung. Easy to change with no flashing. There are some on the Market and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894397 has a ton, along with links on how to make your own packages if you're inclined to go through the work for that one font you really want.
As far as icons not working...
3G, Signal bars, wifi, alarm, Bluetooth, GPS, headphones. Anything that would go on the right side of the status bar, except the battery icon which works. All of the notification icons (left side) flashed fine as well.

Success! Got the boot animation transferred and working so decided to try the same with the framework and systemui files from the uot zip. Copied them to their respective folders and rebooted and voila!

I have to think that there is an issue when mounting system in cwr. That's the only thing I can think of.

I made a post a month or so ago about this same thing. I really wanted to get the signal bars to work (I selected the Radar icon) and couldn't get it to work no matter what. The only thing I didn't do was copy the framework and systemui over.

Update. Still can't get signal bars or mobile data icons to change. But the other icons did change when manually moving the apks from the uot zip.

How do I make my status bar look like the ICS themed ones? I've seen them in screenshots but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. Also I can't even figure out how to install them.
Someone should turn the themes in flashable .zips
that person would be my hero.
I think they just change the battery icons to look like ics.
Sent from somewhere in East Tn. On my Atrix 2 of course.
If you can find a theme, it will either be a flashable zip or integrated into a ROM.
By ICS theme, the most ICS-looking ROM currently is lfaber06's "Supercharged Atrix" ROM.
I'm running the new CM9 on my EVO 4G. I want to change the battery icon and colors using UOT kitchen. When finishing up, I can't find anything close under "Kitchens List" and an option for CM7. Could someone lend me a hand on the process I need to go through? Is there another way to make these types of changes other then UOT Kitchen?
