[Q] Need facebook account to use? - HTC ChaCha

This is probably a stupid question but do you have to have a facebook account to use all the non-facebook features (obviously you do for the facebook functions but can I buy it and use it sans facebook or are there any limitations?)
Thanks

No, there is no need for a Facebook account to use the phone....

But wouldn't the button be annoying if you dont facebook?
You can't customise it as of now

yes the button would be annoying but what choice does one have for an android qwerty? It is either this or the samsung galaxy pro with its awful screen if you want gsm. The gsm only droid pro isn't available yet and I'm not sure the keyboard would be great on that.

Question about Contacts App

I would like to replace the Samsung contacts application with something that will allow me to search the Exchange GAL. My boss's Droid X will do it, I can't believe that this functionality is missing. I really don't like Swift Contacts either (mostly I don't like that I'd have to pay for functionality that should really be there and the fact that you can't move contacts it finds over to your phone contacts).

[Q] Motorola Social Networking service

Hi guys,
I see that everytime I open the task manager on my Milestone 2, the 'Social Networking' service is using up quite a bit of CPU and RAM, it's one of those motorola, maybe motoblur apps. I only put my facebook account on Motoblur to get pictures on the contacts.
I have Titanium Backup Pro so I can freze this app/service if I want, will it cause me any trouble? Anyone knows what is its purpose anyway? Seems it's just an universal messenger (facebook, mail, sms) to me.
Thanks a lot!

Facebook for Android or Facebook for HTC sense. Opinions.

THe HTC desire being my first HTC phone I had never used the sense UI or any of its features previously, so had only had experience with the official facebook for android app from the Market.
Ive just set up facebook for htc sense with the friend stream etc and I'm rather impressed by it. Just wondered what your thoughts are on both these apps? here are mine.
Facebook for Android:
Pros
Has the chat function
Official app from facebook so gets updated (eventually) with new features, although still way behind the iphone app apparently.
Cons
Doesnt allow tagging of photos
Doesnt allow you to remove/delete a post/comment or that you have made or un-like something.
Facebook for HTC Sense
Pros
Allows tagging of photos
Allows multiple upload of photos to albums etc..
Integrates extreemely well with the rest of HTC sense UI, and the phone features such as the people app, gallery etc..
Cons
(most of these are things that I am not 100% sure on, so they are more like a question than a statement)
Not sure if the app gets updated when new features come out on facebook, or being as the app is shipped with the phone is it pretty much that what you get now is what it will always be, and no changes, or do HTC release updates for the sense features?
I dont think the check in feature is available with this?
I also dont think this app allowed you to delete a comment/post, althought I havent tried it yet, if it is possible, how is it done? Same with un-like...
What are you guys thoughts on both of these apps? Which do you prefer out of the 2?
I've been facing this same issue for past 24 hours. I needed batch upload for photos. I assumed, oficial fb app should be able to do that. Well, horse hockey. It's not even able to move photos from album to album or delete album. Before I discovered that Fb for sense is able to do that, I uploaded it via email. All in all, fb app from fb lackes many features, some even included in web version for phones (touch).
well you can always choose between the two, you dint have to just use one
persinally i think sense is amazing! (wish i had it on my sgs2)
the android fb is mediocore, so i use it mainly fir chat.
so i use the facebook mobile site mainly! it has the most info on news feed etc.
I personally still use the m.facebook.com website for facebook interaction on the phone. I found the facebook application a little too limited and clunky.
Although didn't know that it could enable FB chat, until I read the posts above...so thanks.
This way I don't get constant Facebook notifications, but get the ones that I have choosen to get through my FB settings as alerts through new emails. I use both Yahoo and Google mail applications.
I have still enabled Facebook for Sense, so that I still get the status updates, birthdays etc which then add value to my users from Google contacts...
take a look at FriendCaster

[Q] whats is the best "like blackberry messenger" application for android?

as the question says which is the best one in the market?
i have seen a lot of them like whatsapp, liveprofile, textplus, kik messenger, and google talk
which one do you think is the best, as blackberrys have their own messenger we android user could use the one only application for all android users
because almost all of my friends use blackberys even knowing blackberry phones sucks but they use them just because of the "free sms"
and when i try to convince them to use android they just say no, and i cannot text to them for free because they also get lazy to download any other application
I know some of you are in the same situation as i am

Google+ Huddle is pretty neat and seems to be an answer to BBM by introducing a 'group chat' instant messenger for anyone who associates their Gmail with the social media website.
In the future, I think Google+ Huddle is going to try to take place of BBM-type communication on Android, but since not everyone is on G+, it'll take awhile to develop.
In the meantime, I use trillian for instant messaging - though I don't use it as an "always accepting IMs in the background application." Google Talk is the easiest program to accomplish this for novice users.
Whatsapp
Whatsapp works pretty well I use that and it works across all platforms
every one ive had drains battery like crazy...
well ive used liveprofile and is good but sometimes msgs doesnt arrive at time, kik messenger is the fastest i have used, and google talk is the one with comes by dfault and could be used as "like bbm" but atleast in mexico like 1 of 10 have Gmail account :/

because is consumes a lot of battery...
my point is this.... for example if BB people uses BBM as their Free texting mode
we can use Google Talk as Our Free Texting Mode as it is running background always (well i dont know but i cannot logged out from google talk)
but not every person knew or know that, and i think it is almost the same thing, but with just giving your gmal acc instead of the PIN thing

a couple more noob questions

I'm not new to Android or Marshmallow, just the S7 and the Samsung skin and apps. I currently hooked up my company's exchange client using the S7 account manager and am using the mail and calendar app in Knox. Anyway, the crux of it is ... I'm not really liking the way the mail app works. I was previously using Touchdown on my Moto X and have been pretty used to that. Is there any opinions on whether the default mail client sucks, or is good does somebody have an Exchange (Activesync) mail client they REALLY like and want to suggest?
Or is this just a case of 'give it a few weeks to get used to it' sort of thing.
The same thing applies to the dialer, though I feel more stongly about this. I much prefer the stock Android dialer to the Sammy one. Can somebody give me some guidance on how to switch back.
Also, I'm really not liking the messaging client. That's easily switchable, but before I completely abandon it is there any really good things about it I'm missing out on that should make me reconsider?
Thanks,
- Steve

+1 for the Google Messenger. It's the only one I've used for a while now.
As for Exchange, I put all my work stuff into My Knox - using the stock email client - and perfectly happy there. I used to use Touchdown as well.
