Calkulin+Clemsyn 1.5ghz Froyo Combo - G Tablet General

do we need to install a program like lookout security (i have it on my phone)?
Any chance we will get netflix working on this rom?
I can not seem to find the sirius/xm app in the market?
Plants vs zombies does not load...just a black screen?
Should I install the pimpmygtab? (why and why not) If I do, do I just install and thats it?
Any tips would be appreciated. I used the stock rom for about five minutes and knew it had to go. Seeing I had the newer boot loader I went with this rom. I have no experiences with any other G tablet roms.. Should I use a different rom? I just want speed, stability, and netflix!!
thanks so much!

You need to change some stuff in build.prop. Someone else may be able to help because I never tried this.

In build.prop, go to the line where it says device= something something, change it to device=olympus. Then reapply market fix.

Well... pimpmygtab allows undervolting, meaning you can extend your battery life. Up to you if you want to do this.

Rooting the Mesmerize

I finally got sick of the bloat and rooted it. I used The tutorial from here:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/26/universal-android-rooting-procedure-rage-method/
In the tutorial download file I substituted with the new version of the superuser.apk and su from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
All you need to do is substitute the superuser.apk(system/app) and su(system/bin) the rest of the folders/files are not needed. This method worked 1st try, you just have to be very cautious and type everything exact.
Thought I would share for those that like to do things manually Now on to de-bloating, anyone know of a good list of apps that are safe to remove? So far i just got rid of cityid and infoalarm.apk(daily briefing).

You can tether without rooting with the stock wireless modem app unless you just don't want to use that one. Saving apps to the sdcard won't come until Q1 2011 with the 2.2 update.

Since you are in the Rooting the Mesmerize thread, have you gotten the phone rooted? Next, if so have you gotten Clockworkmod installed correctly? That is in a different thread?

You should be able to, but if you were going to try you want to make due you use the version released on 12/23 #7 as it had been the most stable. I would suggest using sgs kernel flashing app from market.
Kernels control the resources of the phone, so a good one goes a long way to getting your phone running well

[ROM][02.07.12]DS_Mod_1.55.531.3 (Optional Debloat)

Hello Everyone!
This is kinda sorta really late, but here is the flashable, rooted version of the latest stock rom update!
Flashing this will get you to 1.55.531.3, without the trouble of having to gain root permission again. Keep in mind that this rom will maintain everything that a stock rom would have, including the bloats. I will upload a version w/o bloat soon.
Report back if there's any problems!
Download DS_Mod_1.55.531.3 Here
02.07.12: I took out most of the bloatware in the debloated version. Download the debloated version here!
P.S. If flashing this caused your dog to have cancer, I am in no way responsible!
Omg omg omg <3
Does this support the new radio?
Yea, it's based from a device that was at the most recent OTA, with everything that comes with it.
Thanks to Daniel for bringing us forward - It's great to see people releasing all kinds of goodies for us to play with
Can you make a deodexed version? I'm a huge themer.
Do you think it would be a good idea to try flashing this on my non rooted mt4gs? Like putting it on my sd card and getting into recovery?

do you have the new radio already? this ROM was made to run with the new radio, but it will not install the radio. i am curious to see how this runs when people flash it with the old radio... (could run just fine, we've just never had the chance to see it done )
also you could flash the new radio, but this could be a problem if you decide to flash back to an older custom ROM, as people have reported random reboots with the new radio on the older ROMs.

that would be a really cool new way to root! probably won't work, as it likely won't pass the signature check in stock recovery. shouldn't hurt to try, it would probably just not let it flash.
I'll wait for the Bloat-free version.
Or can you just use the Bloater app to remove them?
Just scored this phone for my little brother. The little amount of ROMs in the 4G Slide community surprised me.
I want him to have a full experience so I'm going to flash this ROM, I don't like how every other ROM has things here and there not working - specifically no 1080p video.

Well, this is a zip, not a pd.img, so booting into recovery or fastboot wouldn't work anyways. OP, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is only for people with s-off, root and clockwork mod installed.

Unfortunately, yes. This is for people who are currently s-off who want to go back to the new version of stock without going through the trouble that's described here.
I'm getting constant reboots, not sure if due to the new Radio I flashed, or this ROM.

Try reflashing first. If that doesn't solve the issue, revert back to the original radio. I'm currently using this rom right now and I haven't had a reboot yet. Or maybe it's a YMMV thing

[Q] A advanced power menu needed.

I know there is a way to add some options for example Reboot\Reboot Recovery in the power menu like this:

But ,I want to know if there is ONE APP can do and redo the change(consider about the OTA) like this:

Chill dudes, it was just a question. Android is about freedom, whether you want to root or not is a personal choice. I come from a rooted S2 before my N5 and I would love to root my phone, but I'm just enjoying the phone as it is right now. No need to force your ideals into others' faces.

Installing a particular game off Play Store gives me "Application not installed "-24" error". Sideloading it gives me "App not Installed". Having this issue with 2 games actually (Deemo and Blocky Roads). A little annoyed as I would really wanna get my hands on those games! Then again I'm a little too busy right now to bother doing a backup and rooting + customising.

There is an option in developer options to turn on the advanced four way boot menu, don't know if you need to be rooted for it to work or not since I unlock and root my devices the day I get them.
Edit: Never mind what I said, I must of been running a rom that had this enabled, because I just checked my nexus 7 running purity and the option is not there.

There are tons of apps in the play store (and elsewhere) that allow you to modify or access various parts of the OS that are normally walled off. As you say, at this point I could care less about ROMs but I'd love to be able to be able to tweak things. Xposed Framework is good enough for me.
