[Q] Is This A Good Deal - General Questions and Answers

ok so i have an htc inspire 4g running on at&t and i love it but ive been looking at the htc hd2 for quite sometime now and all of the things you can do with it(wp7,android,etc) so im considering selling my htc inspire to get an hd2 then using the left over money to buy an iphone 3gs for a backup and for games is this a good idea

an HD2 is a great buy! However, asking about buying an iPhone on XDA is bound to get a predictable answer

[Q] Best android phone that I can buy

Hi Friends,
Recently I lost my Sony Xperia X10i. I'm in the process of claim insurance. Now my question to my friends here - Which android mobile I need to buy. I'm a big fan of Android .
I'm from India, so please suggest me that is available in India. My budget is up to 30K .
Thanks & Regards,
Naresh Kumar
I can say go for Samsung galaxy S Or HTC Desire HD Htc Desire HD Will be available during this month. I 've heard prices will be around 35K But Battery drain is the problem in HD I guess
Depends on what you are looking for.
Nexus S or Galaxy S will give you the best processing power, Galaxy S also has the super AMOLED screen. The HTC Desire Z is very overclockable, which can put it above the Galaxy S even, and has a slide-out keyboard.
HTC Desire HD also has a big screen with good construction and great software (HTC Sense...best software skin on Android).
If you want plain unmodified Android then wait for the Nexus S, which would be the only phone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
hTC all the way
Desire Z or Desire HD
HTC desire is a good choice.
I have HTC smart and am happy with its features and apps. I think HTC desire will be also best I had just deal with HTC and its first time I am using Android. you will get many best deals at this Christmas.
Good Luck!

i will NEVER own another samsung smartphone... terribly disappointing expierence with the galaxy s series in its entierty....
ive found that most people who have an SGS and LOVE it, have either never had ANY smartphone previously, or never owned an HTC smartphone to understand what they are missing
i just switched yesterday from an iphone 4 to an HTC Droid Incredible. its, in my book, 1000x better than the iphone. yea it doesnt have the front facing camera like the Evo, but usin it on the iphone for facetime purely raped the battery life. hence why i went w/o. im still tinkering with it, like i did both my iphones, and i'll post a full review for those who wanna kno more about it (and if there isnt one already).
Motorola Milestone 2 is a good idea.. but i'd wait for Nexus S or lg star..
LG STAR HAS A TEGRA 1GHZ PROCESSOR.. but youll have to wait longer than nexus S for that

Yeah i came from a 3gs,iPhones are boring. You could probably get a Htc HD2 cheap and you can port android to it,there very good at running android, fast, stable, they even beat the Nexus one and desire at running it
IF you like options, get a cheap HD2 lol. It can run Wm 6.5, Android, and ubuntu and possibly even wp7. and the hardware is still good. Otherwise Desire HD sounds good but I highly recommend the HD2 for versatility
I will be changing my phone in June. Right now I have HTC Hero, and I just love it, it is by far the best phone I have ever owned. Can not stand Iphones.....
So my question, is whats on the horizon ???? like I say, it will be June 2011 when I upgrade, what should I be looking at ?
Thanks
Ian

30k INR is about 660 USD, right?
you could buy HTC Desire with that, I think..
or perhaps, just buy HTC HD2.. with cedesmith desireHD2 build, 2000 quadrant score is just a small number..
I've been with T-Mobile for around 7 years and have 7 lines. We have tried about every phone out there. One year we went through 103 phones. We have owned every myTouch phone, including the Fender but excluding the new one, almost all of the BlackBerry phones made, many nokia phones, motorola phones and of course countless htc phones (including the HD7, returned the next morning).
No matter what platform HANDS DOWN the Samsung Vibrant S (I guess that would include AT&Ts Galaxy S) is the best out there. My kids had the inexpensive samsung flip phones and they were great, but beyond the very low end Samsung I have never been really happy with their phones that were almost smart phones, more like frustrated because you could "almost" do what lets say the HTC phones could but your Samsung was always not set up for all the same apps, stuck with all kinds of just small bumps.
Just this weekend 3 people were deciding what phone to get and they are now all getting the Vibrant once there contract is up. I personally added a line just to get this phone. Now my Vibrant in rooted (never done that before) and is customized with BlackFroyo I got off here. Of course the 3 friends all want to do the same.
Samsung has all the technology, thank goodness T-Mobile got their hands on it!!! Buy it you won't be sorry.
get the nexus S, period

I must admit I would have agreed with you before I bought the Vibrant. We've been with T-Mobile for 7 years and have a total of 7 lines... I won't repeat what I already posted but have gone though over 103 phones (unfortunately, kids) in one year about 90% smart phones.
Samsung DID IT RIGHT with the VIBRANT!!!!
I love window based phones as well and REALLY lean towards HTC until now. Returned the HD7 within 14 hrs, maybe I'll try again once it's more established.
So I bought my first choice and everyone who sees it or uses it (it's rooted with BlackFroyo theme) has decided this is the phone they'll be getting.
What was so disappointing about the Galaxy S Series? The working phones we have right now are 2 myTouch slides, 1 myTouch G1, 1 myTouch Fender, partially broken Samsung Galaxy (I agree with you about this phone), 1 or 2 different BlackBerrys, but returned the HTC HD7 & HTC Pro Touch 2, & gave away the Slide to get this Vibrant and now I have 6 others under my roof who want me to buy them a Vibrant.
I know everyone has different opinions and needs but to imply that owners of the Galaxy S Series have less experience with SmartPhones than those who own HTC phones is just a little narrow minded. I did feel the way you did but it was the "NEWEST" HTC phone that pushed me to the Samsung. Reviews everywhere were overwhelming that if you were going to buy a T-Mobile phone get the Vibrant.
-nothing personal, it would just be nice if you would back your statements up with some facts because it sounds like you're talking about another Samsung
Buy HTC Desire Z its a great phone.

What is best for me may not be for you, said that, theres no such "best" phone.

What did you switch from?

I had the HD2. I thought I would never have a phone that would take it's place.
But I love the Sensation.
I was just wondering what phones did everyone have before the Sensation.

HD2, same thinking as you
great minds think alike this was the ONLY phone i was considering to replace my superphone HD2!
Yet another ex-HD2 user here. And I too believe the Sensation is the only phone, worthy of replacing the HD2.
Hello,
had a Nexus One before getting my Sensation, love the screen size/resolution and the device is quite faster, the camera is also better but I don't use it much
too bad the battery drains a lot faster (almost twice actually)
iPhone 3GS. Big difference but I'm loving it so far.
Nexus S

Bold 9700. The OS just got really boring for me and I wasn't taking advantage of the $30 I was paying per month for data. Really liking the Sensation so far, but there are some kinks that need to be worked out.
LG Optimus M. I traded it in for a $50 rebate and consider myself lucky. That phone was very frustrating - I went through three exchanges between February and April, it was very slow, and I could never get a Metro PCS representative on the phone when I had issues.
Motorola W755... My learning curve is steep.
Coming from the G2X
Switched from Touch HD
Same
Same as OP
from HD2 superphone to Sensation
And because I just loved the Gingerbread rom with Sense 3.0 ^^
Nexus One for 15 months, G2X for 2 months >>>>Sensation 4g
I came from the Nexus S as well and i love this phone wayyy better! and the NExus S has a like no development what so ever and that was supposed to be a 'dev phone'

Yes I too came from a Nexus S. I bought the Nexus S thinking it would have the support that the Nexus One did.....boy was I mistaken.
Anyway, sold the Nexus S and and couldn't be any happier with the Sensation.

HD2 and it was the sense 3.0 that got me on board but must say I run Miui/froyo/sense 3.0 all still on the hd2 --Love the sensation can't wait till we can actually open er up
Nexus One. Hopefully we'll get lots of good devs for the Sensation like the N1 has!
Mytouch3G 1.0
I have a headphone Jack now lol
Nah but seriously it like going from a mini van to a sports car... Huge difference.

Coming from a Vibrant (had iPhone 3G for 2 years before switching to Android). The Sensation is what I expected from an Android phone (the Vibrant fell far short of my expectations).

How good is this phone?

So I've been eyeing this phone for a while since I first heard about it but I don't have the money to just buy it right now. Ever since my first Android phone I've been a fan of HTC phones. I started off with the mytouch 3g 1.2 and then progress to the mytouch 4g. Now I'm considering the Sensation as my next phone but I'm not sure about it because I have yet to play with the phone in person.
My personal choice of dual core phones right now are either the Samsung Galaxy S II or the HTC Sensation and honestly I would rather have the Sensation because of the Notification LED and because I like HTC phones. However those aren't the only reasons I would choose the Sensation.
I was wondering what you guys thought of the phone? Is the phone worth it? Is there anything that's bad about the phone? What about good things?

There are plenty of threads like this already. I'm sure if you search through them you will find that because you asked this in a sensation forum most people are going to say yes the sensation is better. Htc's build quality is far better Imo. I would rather have the qhd screen instead of that super colorful screen that the gs2 has. It makes things look fake to me. Plus somebody just mentioned that CM7 is getting "sensational" =D

I had a Nexus One last year....
Got a G2X this year and HATED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.
I got this phone and the only complaints I have are: I don't like HTC Sense, and boot-loader is locked. I'd much rather have vanilla Android. Build quality is far superior to the other phones listed.
I have to say hat the Sensation is a very nice phone, especially compared to the g2x, which I traded for it. And I too, am a big fan of HTC phones. But I have to say that outta all of the HTC phones I've had... G1, MyTouch 3g, Nexus 1, HD2, and G2... the Sensation is both the best AND the worst out of them all. I actually use my G2 more than the Sensation. I'm only keeping it because like the HD2, I'm sure that later on down the line as development progresses it'll be an awesome device. But as of the time being, it really does nothing that I can't do on my G2.(.02¢)

[Q] Converting ATT user to Android, which phone?

Whats shaking?
My momma was at an Alice Cooper concert this past week, and the guy next to her, she said, was taking amazing pictures with his android while she was taking crappy ones on her iPhone 3g. lolol, That kind of thing is the most important for her because of her grandbabies and such. She is realizing it is time for a new phone.
Anyway, I suppose my question for the Inspire forum is, out of the phones available for ATT, I was interested in the HTC Inspire for her because
1, I have an EVO and am a fan of HTC
2, I am a fan of the roms and work done for the htc EVO
So I'm wondering if the Inspire has a good following or is it worth getting?
Maybe the motorola atrix is better as far as being new, more options with roms and such, idk. I don't keep up with ATT really.
With my experience in the past, I am not a fan of motorola, personally.
Any suggestions?
thanks in advance
Coming to an inspire thread, you know that you are going to get biased opinions lol. I would recommend the inspire over the atrix. From my understanding and from what I've read, the general consensus is the atrix was supposed to be ATT' s flagship Android phone by hardware stats, but ended up being a fail of a phone. There are some atrix owners who swear by it, but there was a mass of people trading in their atrix for the inspire. The main deal breakers for a lot of people was that the screen was too small, the front facing camera has such poor quality that its not even worth using, don't like the motoblur UI, and the development for the atrix doesn't come close to the inspire. Inspire vs the atrix is a classic example that hardware stats aren't everything. It's the overall experience and features you get with the phone.

best phone I bought in a long time... it's fast and smooth, I love the screen size it's much better to view.. the pictures and video come out really nice for a cam phone... I've recommended this phone to a few friends and family and they love it
if she dont like the sense feel you can always install MIUI for her it has the iPhone ui look and the cam is great on there ... love the anti shake button when taking pics
i have an atrix, inspire, and captivate....i havent turned on my captivate in probably months now, but my atrix and inspire get used frequently. i only use my atrix as my backup phone for when i am tweaking the inspire....and i loathe every minute i am on my atrix, even with the lapdock....
go with the inspire. better camera, better ui, bigger screen, and it just seems all around, more reliable than my atrix
Thank you for your input.
Well I think the Inspire is a much better choice than the Atrix. From what I've read in the Atrix forum it's relatively easy to hard brick it and **** your phone. But most problems with the Inspire can be easily solved. And the camera is pretty awesome too!
You could be an awesome son and snag her a sensation from Canada (bell). Great pics, full hd video @30+ fps.
Of course the inspire is a great phone as well, but if using an upgrade is your plan, I would buy a phone second hand right now and hold on to the upgrade for an ip5 to sell when they come out.
While I love the inspire, if I were about to sign a 2 year contract I would hols out for the HTC Holiday aka the Inspire HD. However that will be more like a 199 priced phone while the inspire is a steal at 99, sometimes found through radio shack or Costco for less.

The inspire is the most phone for the money on ATT. My wife has taken some downright amazing pix using hers.

Worth getting?

I original have the Nexus but they lock my web2go a month ago so now I am seeking new phone that can be used. From what I understood, Sensation non-tmobile brand and Sensation XE would work. Are they worth it and where can I find a good price on a international Sensation? I am also pondering on N9. Since you can add andorid on it and i am pretty sure tmobile will never block it but no ics support.
Another thing I am consider is that I will most likely receive a Titan II from the ms contest and I can unlock it and use it as 2g phone. Which is pretty tempgin as T2 is a pretty sweet phone.
well, from my personal opinion after being using Sensation XE for more than 2 months and with amount of time i've spent jumping from ROM to ROM, this phone is well-worthy for you to buy, even when i am not a phone-switcher kinda guy but when i want to buy something, i will researched and do comparison with my friends' phone.
as of for now, since HTC One is around the market, i would suggest you get that one
Well, keep in mind it need to work with web2go..... XD Now sure how MUCH will htc one uk version cost lol
