[Q] Maps App Constantly Refreshing/Flashing - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Maps on my 3G U.S. Xoom is behaving strangely.
On occasion, Maps will constantly refresh rendering the App useless. It gets in a loop loading tiles similar to when you clear cache. It flashes over and over.
I can clear cache and this behavior will stop, for awhile. But it will eventually return. This happens with GPS on or off.
Anyone else experienced this?

Turn wifi off, then no data throughput

I'm experiencing an issue which I can replicate everytime. Upon bootup, I get 3G/4G and data works great. I turn on wifi, use it for about 30 mins, and then turn it off as I'm leaving the venue. While I do have 4G in the notification bar and data arrows are working, I get no data. Browser keeps spinning, maps keeps spinning, but no dice.
Rebooting fixes it, but then the cycle starts all over again. I'll try to restore my phone back to factory settings, but in the meantime, is anyone else seeing this? Also, not sure whether it's worthy to note, while wifi is on, I have the 4G up in the menu time most of the time.
edit: Alright, well looks like resetting the phone did the trick. Moderator, you can close this thread. Thanks!

[Q] Interesting problem

*** I have spent an hour searching through posts looking for this issue. Unless my search-fu is way off today, I can not find this issue.
Problem Cause
Improper shutdown
Was in a game of Battleheart, battery was dying, I plugged it in;not realizing that the power bar I plugged into was not on, tablet power off mid play a few moments later.
So I plug it in for a few mins, then turn it back on to nothing but a bunch of force closes rendering the tablet nearly inoperable.
Problem:
Constant force closes.
-com.google.process.gapps
-com.google.android.patrsnership
-com.google.android.gm
-com.google.android.vending
-com.google.android.calander
com.google.android.gmail
-com.google.providers.calander
etc
Force close Issues
-No Wifi,
-Cannot modify home screens in any way. If I try to remove a widget, the launcher goes into a constant force close loop com.android.launcher, effectivly disabling the tablet.
-Settings will not "take" I have read that solving the typical force closes that I am seeing is disableing the syncing via google and also clearing data/cache from gmaps, calander, bookmarks etc. However, while I can access settings and choose the options to remove this data, nothing actually happens. I deselect the sycing options under settings, but after reboot they are re selected.
-Cannot install any applications. Another solution mentioned was to install a new launcher, like ADW, or LP. Trying to install an apk immediately sends the device to the ausus boot logo and it will boot loop 5 times (loading circle dots rotate, then disappear while still at the asus logo) before finally loading to the home screen and its many force closes.
Solution?
I have not found one yet that is satisfactory. I was hoping toi pick the brains among some of you here, who may have more knowledge insight in solving this issue,
-Factory Reset? While this is always an option, it stinks. Like really. I'm about 15/16gb used on my internal mem. I have tons of apps, music, books, pics, progress in games etc that really sucks to lose.
-Hard Reset? See above
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear em! Thanks!
have you tried a cold linux boot? hold the power and volume down for 10 seconds. You will then have the option to wipe the tablet. wait a few seconds, and another option becomes available(a not wipe symbol). This cold boots the os
Try clearing your dalvik cache.
+1 on wipe caches
had this problem, just wiped 'em and tada

Thanks for the quick replies.
Sorry I should have mentioned, I am running stock. No root, no custom recovery.
Is wiping the dalvik cache still an option?
aaaand people ask why we use CWM. This is why.
idk unless nvflash can fix it you have to lose all your crap in a factory reset.

Chrome to Phone - Black Screen on Setup

Anyone else having issues with Chrome to Phone on the Skyrocket? After connecting to my account in the app, it goes to a black screen with only the status bar visible and freezes. I have to press home multiple times and wait a few seconds for it to catch up before it lets me exit. I have wiped data and re-installed to no success.
This is on boneSTOCKeteer, (deodexed Rogers Stock).
Thanks.
It's worked fine for me on multiple ROM's. Currently SkyICS.
Try clearing program cache and a reboot?
Could be a problem on your Google end of things too. Check out your Google Chrome settings page.
No such luck. Now it seems to even have issues communicating with Google.

GMail repeatedly stopping every 10 or so min

About a week or two ago, my Note 10.1 started telling me pretty frequently that my Gmail app has stopped (pop up where screen goes dark and you can click Ok or Report). Clicking ok exits out and the app functions fine after that but will give the popup again 5-30 min later. It seems totally random but has become frequent enough to be annoying, especially when I am watching videos. I cleared the cache in the app settings but that doesn't seem to have stopped it.
I am avoiding clearing data because I have a lot of subfolders set up with unique notifications and its a pain in the ass to get that all back the way I like it.... but could that be the resolution? Anyone else encountering this issue?

Google Maps Not saying Street names randomly

I noticed that Google Maps Navigation is not speaking street names very randomly. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I can't seem to pinpoint why. A temp fix is to swipe away the navigation in Recent Apps, and then re-do the navigation. Is anyone experiencing a similar issue?
I have noticed it too. Clearing the cache for Google TTS also is a temporary fix as well as a reboot. After the phone has been on for a while, there seems to be some sort of 'switch' that makes navigation not say street names anymore. I've tried many different things and have still not found a solution. Very frustrating.
