Your Phone Protected by a Tank
No ETA yet, but when OtterBox posts on their site, that usually means: within a month.
I prefer the Commuter Case Series personally, but this is a positive start
I hate cases like this one that make the front edge go right up to the screen. It can make it difficult to use the outer edges of the touchscreen. At least with my fat fingers.
I do realize these otterbox cases are very rugged, though.

Big fan of OtterBox. My HD2 holster broke at the belt clip, and they have a new holster/clip on the way to me now.
Too bad I upgraded to an Infuse.
Since there's currently no Infuse case, I have a Ballistic HC on the way.
Ballistic case
I bounght the ballistic case from ATT. my account gets 40% off, so it was normal price them LOL
I loved the OtterBox cases on my iPhones. Yeah they do add bulk but working around a warehouse it's good to have. Was gonna get the Ballistic case but I have read that the buttons don't line up well, and I've already had good experiences with the OtterBox, so I believe I shall wait it out.
I'm on my second Ballistic HC case. Per Ballistic I swapped it out at AT&T store where purchased. The second unit lined up better, but when I push power button to turn off screen it causes volume buttons to compress. Hanging onto it until Otterbox available.

Yeah I bought ballistic too, but the plastic side is slippery to my hands so I returned it for pop case white, side is rubber and inside so I'm liking it.

Hoping Otterbox is somehow, possibly smaller/more ergonomic than Ballistic HC.

If it's like the iPhone cases it will be. But you gotta keep in mind, you are putting a case like that on a phone that has a 4.5" screen. It's gonna have some bulk to it. My iPhone 4 I had before felt sooooooo tiny when I would take the case off, lol.
Several coworkers have Inspires/Evos in Defenders and despite having only 0.2" smaller screens their devices and holsters seem considerably smaller. They raz me often about tv on my hip since we have to have shirts tucked.

Having the same issues with the Ballistic case I bought with my new InFuse. I like the case as it allows me to wear the phone but the inner case sucks and does not allow good use of the power/volume buttons. I have lost volume and phone calls because of the stupid case. I am gonna wait until someone else comes out with a better case that I can wear on my hip. I will say that the case seems very rugged and you can easily drop the phone without worrying that it will get trashed.

I would drop my iPhone on concrete floors without the phone being phased one bit. OtterBox cases are very nice.
Seriously....what's the hold-up? Amazon and other sites said inventory shipping to them on 6/29?

OtterBox does not put a release date on their cases. They make them available when they are ready.

Title says it all. When will the Otterbox be out? Also, if it's not for a while, what is the best case with a balance of protection while still keeping the profile slim?
Sent from my Droid Charge running Humble 1.4
They have the Commuter series out and there is absolutely no ETA for the Defender. I got the phone about a week after launch and have been waiting also.
There's no single Otterbox case, as they make a whole line. The Commuter, which is their somewhat-slim case, is already out and has been for some time -- I have it on my phone right now.
The Defender, which protects your phone like a tank, is also built like one and makes no attempt at being slim. It's absolutely enormous. That one isn't out yet, but unless you work on a construction site it's completely overkill.
At the moment, because companies like Seidio haven't gotten their cases out yet, the Commuter is probably the best option if you want a sorta-slim but still well-protecting case. The second layer is made of a less-than-premium-feeling hard plastic, but the inner silicon layer is nice and overall the case protects the phone quite well without adding too too much size and weight.
Whoops, I meant the Defender...I knew the Commuter was out.

Looks like the Kraken II by Trident is available in black now

I think I'll wait for the red version
I know I look like an old man when I do, but I like having my phone on a belt clip. None of the (nice) cases I've been able to find have one. I'm dying to get an otterbox defender. Right now I have a Bodyglove with an Invisible shield on the screen. However, dust and whatnot in my pocket gets under the Bodyglove and has already scuffed my phone!
I had a Defender on my BB Bold and I loved it. Size is not a factor for me. Otter needs to hurry and launch the Defender.
The Defender Series Case is now available for purchase HERE.
Yup just got the email today. Its available. Also I emailed trident and the alternative colors of the kraken II case should be available later this week. Black is already available

Some of us don't have much choice. I work receiving and delivery at a retail home improvement store. Moving some of the heavy fridges in and out of customer's homes sometimes requires leaning it against myself for support. That could put enough pressure on my screen to crack it.
Yep, need me a really rugged case. Plus, I picked up the Defender for less than the price of the Commuter... all good.

I dunno. I just like the peace of mind that I can throw my phone and it will be perfectly fine. Plus most of my friends have Defenders for their iPhones (I feel dirty typing that) so huge phones are common enough that it doesn't look out of place.

Question... Is the defender like the commuter with the hard outer layer and soft inner? or is it the opposite like other phones..

I also have 2 Nillkin cases, which are very thin (thinner than any tpu I've put on), but this one is definitely even thinner.
There are also "skins" you can put on the phone, but if you ever want to use the phone in a dock, then the skin will cause a problem...so I prefer a thin case that's quick and easy to remove.
Here is the ebay link where I bought mine from. The auction is over, but I'm sure if you click around on that page, you'll find another auction with the same case: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320735735257&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

thanks mm... that's exactly what i'm looking for. anyone else sell something like that in the states?
how long did yours take to arrive?
Anything from hong kong usually takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive
make certain that you notice there are areas of the phone that go unprotected with this case...it's light, quick to pop on and off, looks good, thin in your pocket. But if you drop it on the street, you're might have a problem.
what else do people suggest? if i wanted to go the full corner cover.
There is a pretty good tpu case at Walmart for like 15 bucks. Not thin compared to the nilkin, but covers the corners
EDIT: and is also one of the thinnest tpu cases i've seen
what's the brand name and do you have a link?

Also, if your e looking for good protection, but fairly thin, easy to pull out of pocket, I recommend seidio surface case. It fully covers the case, but is thin and feels good in the hand. Someone here said the case scratched his phone, but I can't even see how thata possible because it is felt lined. I've had it over 2months now, and not a scratch. I got the optional holster with it, and I use it for most of my other cases. I have 8 for this p phone.

My friend and I using that case right now, we ordered 2 different date (different sellers) and I got one with full cover and he got the one look like one on the pic. Btw, good case for the price, fit very good, exept the corner on his case.
I've got the TPU case from Amazon (can't post links, not enough posts yet) -- it really isn't thin at all... The corner is not exposed on the one I have. I mean, it was only $2.80 + shipping.. it fits perfectly, but it is just too thick for my taste, so I never use it. Without the case, the phone is nice and thin, with the TPU case, it is just too thick. The whole point in getting this phone it that it was less than 11 mm thick. With the case, it is more like 13 mm... meh..
I am looking for a case that protects the top and bottom (To stop chipping). The case also has to look good with the black HTC One s and not scratch the phone like some TPU cases do. I like the CaseMate soft case but sadly it has no mic hole Hope someone can help!
The only cases that protect the bottom and top afaik are the silicone/rubber/gel type of cases.
Regarding the no hole for the microphone for the case mate soft and tough, it really isn't that much of an issue IMO and can be easily solved anyway using either a drill bit, eye letter punch or some other form of a cutting tool
See my review of the tough case here:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1072819-case-mate-tough/
Below are the results of using a drill bit to make a tiny hole (acting as a "mark") and the eye letter punch to make a "proper" microphone hole

I am waiting on this one to come in (ordered 5-5-12) After a recent unfortunate incident involving my Nexus S and a marble countertop + a 6" fall I am taking no chances. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007U6EHXS/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
I don't normally do anything except a screen protector but after watching my screen crack down the middle on my nexus s just a week ago I am not taking any chances with this beast of a phone. Just in casethe link doesn't work it is a ballistic case for HTC One S for about $17 from amazon.
You guys gotta wait for the otterbox case. Is not out yet but will be our soon

I actually prefer the ballistic cases over the otterbox. I am on my 3rd case since I got my phone a month ago.
The current one is by Diztronic (see the separate thread).
It is a TPU case so the top and bottom are protected, but it has a nice matt finish rather than the shiny effect of most gel cases. Would recommend!

Fits like a glove as it is meant for the ATT/Rogers version. All holes line up. The rubber is tougher and less shiny than the normal rubber otterbox uses (which i thought thank god) The only thing i dont like/not used to yet is how the phone mounts into the belt clip. You have to slowly "wedge it out" Here are some pictures. Any questions? The temperature after playing a game for 25 min is 43c (without case it was around 39c)

Very easy. I notice i dont have to push as hard as my ebay rubber case i had before. Volume buttons are also easily pushed. The screen protector takes a bit away from the clarity. Still debating on popping it off or not.

I recommend just popping it out, especially if you already use a screen protector. It comes out rather easy and the adhesive strip can be pulled out in practically one piece. The only thing I would suggest is to use something like a small piece of duct tape to remove the left over residual adhesive from inside the frame.
Does anyone have the purple and teal otterbox? I really want one!

They have not been released anywhere yet. ATT nor Otterbox carry them yet. I was told within the next few weeks.
It depends on your area, because most ATT store here in Hawaii had both Commuter and Defender Cases, I originally went with the commuter case but felt it added too much thickness and took away the design of the phone, so bought Htcs slim case. The have improved a lot in terms of rubber material and fit, especially coming from the evo 3d case.

Hmmm... you can get similar case for 9.99 though.
If SGP made a bumper, I'd be all over.
The ultra thin case does look similar to those on eBay indeed.
what is up with the cutouts on the render? they are awfully tiny on the volume and power. I hope that's not how it really looks but it's not really worth it since you can get the same thing from rearth.

A Neo Hybrid Ex Bumper to be exact, and I will gladly pay $20-$30.
Go to their FB page and post that you want a bumper case, their already a few post already doing the same.

posted on their fb wall about having other thin cases out there with way lower price that what they'll be offering. also pointed out the how poetic bumper sales are thriving for their bumper case...
their response was "the price depends on what the package comes with"...so I had guessed they'll include their screen protector with the case...but still cant see why they proceed with the project when you can get the same case for around $2 on ebay..
This case is quite a disappointment...I associate SGP with making unique cases, not something so obviously generic looking. I'd really like to see them release something for the Nexus 4 like the Neo or Ultra Hybrids they had for the Galaxy Nexus, or the Linear Metal or Hybrid EX cases they have for the iPhone 5. Now those all look unique from the other stuff out in the market currently.

amazon = more than 149 (based on reviews number, so the exact quantity should be more than that)
They've raked up more than $10 grand of revenue from a single case model...
and sales from both sites are still counting, since other case manufacturers are still skeptic of the market size for this phone's casing...
received my case today!
feels nice, smooth of course lol.
but it feels a bit loose, but it does hold the phone in. The top part of the case is a bit loose with the phone in it, the bottom part is firm and in place.
Maybe because i have a back screen protector on it, but i highly doubt it.
gonna shoot them a email in a bit about it
this is so going to be a product marketing failure...
throwing something very few wants, in a market already filled with it, at a higher price...thats like 3 flukes in one go
its like selling shaved ice out in the cold, in the middle of winter, at a higher price than in summer.
disappointed in SGP
-sigh-

Did you see if you could bend the corners in for a better fit? Kind of like with the original, non-revised Ringke Slim.

lol! :laugh::laugh:
What we really need is a case that only covers the top and bottom and leaves the sides exposed. Would love to take full advantage of those curved edges.
