I am going to try JuiceDefender to see if I can get 14-16 hours of battery life.
I normally have 2-2 1/2 hours talktime daily and normal web browsing with Email/FB/Twitter
Has anyone used or has experience with this app?
Thanks
Just dl'ed it also. Only been using it a few days but I see a small improvement.

Could you elaborate?
I find the settings quite promising.
Wifi/Data control based on location/time/apps looks good. Don't know how they will help.
Yesterday I got through a full day with 10% left at 10pm.
Lets see if it stays that way

Well when I used it on my captivate it seemed it used quite a bit of power, more than it seemed to save by managing WiFi/3g. One found "green power" to be better as it is a lot less CPU intensive. Just my .02

I've been using JD on and off for a few days... It seemed to save some battery at first, but now it seems to be sucking it down. I left my Inspire on overnight and battery had drained by 50%! I also don't like how it handles wifi, always turns it off when I need it.
Been using Screebl (aggressive screen timeouts, but stays on depending on angle of phone) and Llama (location control for off/on wifi, gps, volume of ring and notifications) for a week now. Start with a full charge overnight, typical work day stats, on battery starting at 6:00 AM:
10-20 texts
8 hours wifi on (web, fb, twit, pandora, not all at once, just throughout the time wifi is on)
70 minutes talk time
background data on for syncing two google accounts, push
background data on for weather on stock clock widget 6 hour refresh
background data off for EVERYTHING else (manual refreshes on twit, fb, etc.)
end of day status: 8:00 PM 10% battery
this was best day out five, worst was 8 hours and the phone cried foul with 15% warning. I think there was more game playing that day. Otherwise very happy with the results so far.
read this.
I run AR 2.1 with juice defender oc 1.2ghz and get around 20 hours average on one charge. Turn off auto brightness and run it at about 20% also
Hi guys, any thoughts regarding Battery life? I get roughly 8 hrs, not the 9.5-10hrs advertised/reported in the forums. Of course, this is with very high use, screen on 7.5hrs, wifi on the whole time, plex on for an hour or so, mobo video playing for an hour, and web browsing for a couple of hours, and some games too. Is this standard? Dock battery is ok, gives around 5 hrs. Any ideas on improving battery? Screen stays at 60% brightness all the time. Plus i have cnn, facebook, youtube, pulse, cnbc and plume widgets on. And active mail sync in the background.

The 9.5h time is stated for constant 720p playback so I don't think your usage is that much higher. I never stopped the time for my ASUS but I am happy with it and I guess that's what matters most.
I use SetCPU (requires root) to set the clock speed to 216MHz when idle. That seems to improve battery life.
I am not getting anywhere close to 9 hours. At first I thought it's the apps I have been running in the background or the brightness, but it's the same after I adjust it. I get about 6 hours.
Dude....6 hours is pretty low.anyways, i havent rooted it yet because of the impending otas.will do it as soon as a gr8 custom rom comes out.

Yes but i do video streaming over wifi. Also my wifi is on the whole time. And as far as i know, wifi takes more battery than video decoding.

The 9.5 hours is for
Airplane mode
playing a local movie, only
display at about 30% based on the NITS listed and Anandtech measured brightness
I bet you can achieve the same if you duplicate their testing scenario.
As for improving battery life decreasing screen brightness can have a huge difference. The screen is often the #1 power usage item when I check on my phone. Also, reduce the checking frequency of any task that needs Wifi to get data.
It's been 15 days now since I had the TF and I can tell you based on my usage - I used up;
12% per hour - airplane mode, play games watch movies in auto brightness
1% per 2.5 hours standby.
So more or less 9 hours usage should be achievable.
I get about 18 hours of constant use with dock
I play with the thing all the time and I honestly haven't ended a day with my battery being below 50% yet.
Actually, out of fairly constant use, I haven't charged mine for, let's see... 2 days, 6 hours, and 52 minutes. Currently at 48% charge.
EDIT: Oh, and I don't have the dock, so it's not counting that.

It stays on auto. When it lasts me multiple days, I can't say I really worry about saving battery much.
For example, I unplugged it this morning at 7, played with it quite a bit today including playing Zenonia for a little over an hour and letting my friends play around, and my battery is currently at 75%.
Hi all. I just wanted to chime in on this thread here. Im a former owner of a xoom and can say that tablet was a beast when it came to battery life. I could have a full charge last for 2 weeks+ with very minimal use all consumed by idle standby. That was something to be said. The tf isn't as good; I can tell already, but I was surprised today! I charged it overnight and unplugged it around 11am. 98%, until I woke it up right now! Its at 97% with 13 hrs 39min. I probably had the screen on for only 5 minutes, but pretty good! One thing to point out that helped me a lot was to always have the tab in airplane mode. You can still have the wifi on and stay in airplane mode. That seemed to make a difference with the xoom. Just my $.02

I get 5ma constant use in sleep mode. By that logic, u would lose 1% in 13 hours on sleep mode. So yeah, idle use is pretty good. Decent tested flight mode yet though.but seriously, y doesn't battery use show the percent divisions like my phone? :O

Its doesn't seem that any of you guys are reading the manual when it comes to battery.
It says it clear in the manual. Why not follow what the book says, I guess some dont read.
"If you intend to use battery power, be sure to fully charge your battery pack before going on long trips.Remember that the power adapter charges the battery pack as long as its plugged into the computer and AC power source. Be aware thats it takes much longer the charge the battery pack and when the Eee Pad is in use"
Remember to fully charge the battery (8 hours or more) before the first use and whenever it is depleted to prolong battery life. The battery reaaches it's maximum capacity after a few full charging and discharging cycles.
"To prolong Battery life, charge the battery for up to 8 hours when using Eee Pad for the first time and whenever the battery power is fully depleted.
So I just switched from a rooted Evo to a Charge. I rooted it on day one and have had what I consider to be poor battery life. With everything off except mobile data, I'm losing about 5% per hour just idling. My Evo would lose 1% an hour or less when running AOSP roms an little more with sense roms.
I took my phone off the charger around 9 this morning. I've sent 50 texts, maybe a few more. My battery is as 52% right now. Maybe I expected too much, but I didn't get a TB because of the crappy battery life.
Right now I'm running Gummycharged 1.8.1 with the standard kernel that it came with. I don't have 4g here so I have that auto search turned off as well.
Is normal or should I unroot and bring the phone in?

From my day to day use, this sounds about right. You have 4G kn right? Not 3G? If on 4G this sounds totally accurate from my experience.

I get roughly 19 hours on a charge with my thunderbolt..so not sure what you ment there...anyway it looks like you are getting 8-10 hours.. that's normal
I get anywhere from 8-10 hours of heavy use, when I say heavy I mean it, music and browsing the web at the same time, calls and browsing the web at the same time, txting, skype, email.. but keep in mind while I do have the stock battery I kill EVERY task and clear RAM whenever I set my phone down, the biggest killer of battery life is just tasks running in the background, remember this phone has a built in task killer, even when rooted & ROM'd.
Another tip would be to keep a spare battery in your wallet, when I stay over at a friends and don't have my charger or I just need a quick full charge I just pull out my wallet and switch the batteries, it's only like $10-$20 for a spare battery depending on where you get it.
If you want longer battery life, you left on the only one that is key to saving the battery !! If you are just in standby or just using the telephone and textings, turn off mobile data, that is the power sucker. Turn it on as needed. Even if you are in a 3G area, the LTE chip stays powered up and this is a big drain.
My phone will last the weekend using this method.
What actually drains the battery is having your screen on. Look at your battery stats in your settings. That will show you what is killing your battery the most and then you can adjust what is needed

If you're getting 8-9 hours with heavy use then that's pretty good. What do your battery usage statistics look like? If you go to Settings > About Phone > Battery Use ... what is using your battery and what are the percentages? Maybe post up a screenshot.
Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Same here man i only get to 5-6 hourf sometimes just 4 thats all,i mean yes half of time im txting but i have my brightnes on auto, running juice defender and also have advance task killer pro. I do multiple emails and time o time on web as well, same as gaming. Im running the rom xboarder OTA GB, what could be my issue :/
Doing it wrong.
EB 2.3.5 + Trinity kernel
Charge your phone before sleeping. Leave it idle while you sleep, unplugged. If the battery stills drains you have an issue. If connected to wifi - shouldn't take more than 20% off your battery. If you have a weak signal, it could drain your battery.
Sounds like you're just always on the phone. Buy an extended battery. $10 on ebay from hong kong.
With moderate usage, in GREAT signal areas and/or wifi I can last 20+ hours. With poor coverage (where I work) I can't go more than 5 or so. The radio seems to eat the battery unless you have a strong connection.
set screen brightness to 25% unless you really need it. set a profile for 312 max/216 min screen off on setcpu. turn off auto sync. use your power control toggles. shut things off when you're not using them. basic smart phone theory. my battery drops 1% every 2.5 hrs. when idle. fwiw, i'm using the stock tweaked rom with updated baseband.
MIUI + Stock kernel = 20 hrs.
....
Uninstall the task killer....its not necessary. That could be eating ur battery. Im a fairly heavy user and i easily get 12 hrs on average.....mainly texting and browsing. I dont make many phone calls
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I use this phone mainly for phone calls How crazy does that sound? I get awesome battery life. I'm running stock 2.3.3 and juice defender beta 3.5.9 and I get 14 hours on moderate use. I talk about 2-2.5 hours, send 30 texts, send 3-5 emails, browse for 1 hour, stream music for 1 hour, browse the market for 15-25 minutes, and occasionally play some tegra games (no more than 20 minutes, but this eats the battery up the most).
If you want more battery life, there is a 3500mah battery with a custom cover that should keep you going a full 24hours, its cheap too, but a little bulky. They are talking about it in the accessories section.
I can do 2.5 hours of gaming or 3 hours of browsing, to go from 100% to forced-shut-down. I find setcpu made it worse during idle times. I was using faux uv/oc and I realized performace was noticibly the same when I forced it down to 700mhz, so I did. But, during standby, when before at stock speeds with custom kernel I got 2-3%/hr drain, it was draining upwards of 10% per hour with the speed forced down in setcpu. This is all with the home screen as the open app during standby.
You will find that keeping google maps open (GPS off) during standby leads to a 5-10%/hr drain even though the phone should be doing the exact same thing with the app during standby as the home screen; nothing at all.
I will use the phone sparingly and I had it run out during my work day a few days ago, very embarrassing. I listened to less than 1 hour of music, browsed 30 minutes, used maps with no gps as that is broken anyway for a total of 30 minutes, texted about 40 in/out messages, and talked 20 minutes over 6 phone calls or so. I'll warranty it for the broken gps. Hopefully there are new G2x's out by now and I'll get a new revision or something.
So I read a lot about either amazing or horrible battery life on this ROM or that ROM...however I've been wondering what is good or bad battery life... I don't wanna start a firestorm of opinions just maybe some helpful thoughts on what qualifies as what
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using xda premium
While I was @ stock my battery would be at 20% or less after a regular day at work.
Now using a ROM and the same amount of general usage I come home with, at the worst, 50% charge.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
It depends on your usage.
on CM7 i tend to only get about 10-14 hours of battery life, and i tend to just read alot from pulse reader and maybe play a little bit of fruit ninja, otherwise its mostly on standby.
On VU 2.35 i was getting 17-20 hours of battery life with the same usage.
insert quick rant:
Only difference i can see is that on CM7 im using JuiceDefender to control when to shut down my mobile network, and on VU i used automateit, so im gonna see if automateit will give me those extra hours or not.
Back to the chat:
15-20 hours tends to be considered good battery for moderate usage (like mine).
For minimal usage (from what i have read on these forums) 20-25 hours is good, and on heavy usage (lots of games, lots of RSS feed reading time, etc etc.) you can probably expect 7-9 hours of battery life.
so in conclusion:
Minimal usage: 20-25 hrs
Moderate usage:15-20 hrs
Heavy usage:7-9 hrs.
Thanks for the reply... I reset the battery stats last night and took the charger off at about 1am. I used the phone normal today (a lot of texts, some angry birds and surfing) and I'm still at 24%!!!!!

Agreed, I have my phone at 268 for screen off and slightly underclocked for screen on, on SetCPU. Running the latest MIUI rom with TalonAce kernel and my phone will drop only 5 percent over night. It will last all night and all the next day after a full charge with normal usage
