HTC Senation released at Walmart June 8th - HTC Sensation

The HTC Sensation HAS BEEN RELEASED AT WALMART!
Here in Austin TX, June 8th. I just bought two HTC sensations.
It was not with the other phones on display under glass - but they were in stock behind the display where the keep the inventory locked up.
Their un-released flyer has it on sale for $148.88 each from June 12th - June 19th.
I got one for me and for my wife. $148.88 each.
IT ROCKS!!
The clerk was not sure if he could sell it to me yet.... I got nervous has he started to check--- expecting a big "no you have to wait unit the 12th" BUT.. his system showed the release date as the 8th, and he sold me two of them.!
YEAH ME!

Did you buy them wit a new contract for that price?

Yes,
I bought them with a new contract for $148.88 each.
Switched from AT&T today to get the HTC Sensation.
AND because T-Moble has the WiFi calling capability, where you can use your WiFi connection to make calls, and not use any of you minutes.

That's awesome man im in Houston and haven't found a single one, looks like it might b a road trip!

The Walmart at located 1030 Norwood Park Bd, Austin TX had at least two more HTC sensations when I left this afternoon.

I'm pretty sure that wi-fi calling uses your minutes.

well I went ahead and jumped out the window and bought one from walmart also... couldn't resist. mine is S-ON also but I still like it better than my g2x that phone is HORRIBLE...

Just got 4 for a family plan at Walmart in Raleigh, NC! Sensationnnnnnn

Very nice, mind doing a quick check for back light bleeding or dust under the screen? this was one of the many reasons i took back my g2x. I kept exchanging hoping hoping for a good one, I felt like I was at the super market shopping for fruit.

If you want all the information. Would have been proper to link to that post where it was already being discussed just to keep down confusion. Not complaining, just fyi.

None of the Walmarts by me (South Florida) even sell T-Mobile (except prepaid). All of the T-Mobile stores around here claim that Walmart can't be selling the Sensation because "corporate" hasn't released it yet.
What is the retail cost from Walmart?

Retail cost at walmart the guy told me was 599.
I got it for 144 + tax.

I went to a Walmart in Houston and they had it but the $148.88 price is available ONLY if your 2 year contract is up. My contract is not up until Sept so no dice.. close but no cigar. The TMOBILE stores around my house are CLUELESS they gave me a June 18th date and one TMOBILE store even said they would not get for A MONTH. WHY?!?!? TMOBILE FAIL.

ditto!
Was Able to buy one in my local Walmart Super Center in Michigan, soooo Happy with this purchase its a Fantastic phone. Glad to FINALLY have a 4.3" Android phone on T-Mobile. Did I say Finally?? LOL ; D

Does anyone know if Wal-Mart lets you keep grandfathered plans with an upgrade?

Today, I was told by the walmart rep that it won't effect my plan. But, I called tmo when I got home and they sad the same thing that if you just do an upgrade then your plan doesn't change.
So far I am very happy with this phone. It is blazing fast. There is not any screen bleeding. I will wait to do a dust test tomorrow under sunshine. I am going to pick another one tomorrow for my other line.

Agreed. T-Mobile usually releases phones on Wednesdays. June 8 is a Werdnesday, whereas June 12 is a Sunday.

I just got the G2x, I will get the Sensation too and then decide which one I like better. Not too concerned with the bootloader as I'm sure someone will crack it eventually.
Cool. Does the G2x have an encrypted bootloader? Or is it already cracked?

HTC rep here,
I can confirm that the subsidized price will indeed be $199.99 on a 2-year contract.
I know most markets are different but here in DFW we are having our HTC Sensation launch party on June 6th and will be available in stores on the 8th.

so once the sensation is out, can we expect the price of the incredible S to drop? because it doesnt make sense to me that the incredible S price is over $500 non subsidized and the sensation is going to cost even less? i find it odd...

Leaving for work in about 30 minutes. Today is our quarterly meeting/HTC Sensation training. I will have this confirmed and answered and possibly with some photos by the end of the day.
If you have any questions about the device just reply quote em' here and I'll be checking throughout the day and get as many of them answered from the engineers.
Side notes: The prototype that we played with the other day had 5 different little holes scattered throughout the back (I'll try to get a detailed pic of it today). Apparently, they're mic/antenna's. Once the case is off you can see the antenna lining around the back where the holes were placed... very interesting design. The engineer did say the final version might not have them though, as they did look really... strange. Also if you place the phone face down, the screen does not touch the surface.
I'm liking the insider information here. This is much better than videos on YouTube going over the same features.
I just got a G2x and I'm thinking about the sensation, however I'm not inclined to go HTC if they're going to start locking things down. Cyanogen is pro-G2x at the moment and noted on twitter (I think) that they're not going to support the sensation if its locked down.
I am basing my next purchase solely on the support of cyanogen and a few others may be doing the same. It would be nice to know whether the bootloader would be locked or not as well as current battery life stats - real ones.

"Off contract" means that you're not required to extend or renew your contract to get a subsidized phone price.
Generally speaking, you _should_ be able to walk into any wireless carrier store and purchase any phone at full price without signing a contract or even activating a line. With most Verizon and Sprint phones, this is a moot point due to CDMA.
I purchased a G2x last Wednesday from the T-Mo store. I've got an Even More Plus plan, so I had the option of either getting the phone through an EIP, pay-per-month or full-price. Because they discounted the phone, EIP wasn't available, so I dropped my card and went on my way.
Only to return it last night.
You should be able to go into the T-Mobile store and simply tell them that you'd like to purchase the phone, for full price, and if they resist, find another store. It should be easy to give the excuse of traveling overseas and/or giving it as a gift and activating it later.

[Q] Anyone who has the Sensation go to a T-Mobile Store for accessories?

I got my sensation on the 8th at Walmart and went to a different T-Mobile store this morning and the rep would not sell me the cases they had in stock. I figured that they can't sell the phone, but I imagined that the accessories had nothing to do with it. Is this common?
Sounds like they are just butt hurt because Walmart broke procedure and they can't. Means lost sales for the associates at Tmo.
I think they could sell them to you if they wanted to; don't see why they would have a reason not to unless corporate just told them to kill all sales of all sensation accessories in light of the Walmart issue.
i'm going to stop by Tmo this afternoon to see if they have some parts and will report back.
I went to a tmobile store yesterday and the told me they are not putting them out till the 15th. He asked if i planned on picking up the phone when they come out and i told him I already have one and he commented "Walmart?" lol
Yea, same experience; said they won't put them out till the 15h; oh well. Lost another sale, just get it online.

This happened to me when I got my G2x. I bought it online, and got the phone before the stores were allowed to sell them in-store. They wouldn't sell me a case no matter what argument I used. I even tried to bribe the guy at Tmo with a twenty dollar bill. I ended up getting a better case off ebay for 1/4th the prive.
My store "officially" won't sell them till the 15th either.
i got mine from ebay and came in about 2 days from ordering it.
seller is case_ology
cases are alright
Mine sold me a case and screen protectors in a heartbeat, asked did I have a Sensation and I said that I bought it at Walmart, gave me 20% off which was still not enough but cant take no chances with this baby.Body glove was 23 after discount and screen protectors were 11 and are nicer than I imagined
FWIW... the T-Mobile store in north Colorado Springs (Falcon Landing shopping center) sold me screen protectors earlier this morning - as long as it was in the system, they were good to sell the accessories.
I might go up there for ****s and giggles later to make the reps there upset.

The tmobile store i went to sold me a rubber case. The manager was hella mad i had the phone tho. He was like where did u get it, i told him walmart and he was like there not aloud to sell phones early they're lucky i dont work there. I was like whatever dude thanks for the case lol.

When, where, and why did you get your Inspire, and for how much?

Let's get some stimulating conversation up in here!
I got mine on Amazon for 1 penny during a memorial day sale. I switched from my Sprint Epic 4g cuz Sprint's service was absolute crap where I live. I was missing more than half of my calls and texts and ended up hopping back onto my mom's family plan. Any interesting stories from you all?
When: Shortly after release
Where: AT&T
Why: Aria sucked
How much: Free, complain to AT&T that my wife's Aria sucked enough then told them if they sent me replacements I would just send them back until I did it 3 times and they'd offer me a replacement anyways so just save us both the trouble. Had a new Inspire overnighted and I got to keep and resell the Aria.

When: month ago
Where:AT&T
Why: had Verizon but service was not that great in my area, especially in my apartment which is in basement. Had about 5 different androids with them most were replacements because of service issues but none were 4G. So came to AT&T and bought a refurb inspire for $30. Service is better and love the phone.

Got mine on release day (2/13/11 - I can't remember for how much). Picked it up for the extra RAM (came from a Captivate - had a lot of "low memory" issues). I used it from then all the way until the GS2 release (10/2/11), which is the longest I had ever kept one phone. Usually at this point I would sell it, but I can't . I'm using it like a tablet (wifi browsing, updating calendar events, games, etc. - pretty useful actually).
It was/is the best phone I've ever used. The GS2 will probably take that spot, but it hasn't proven itself yet . Waiting on more development to pick up.

I don't get why people diss on AT&T's network. I know it is horribly overpriced and lacks certain things, but in the 10 years I've been with them I have never had serious issues with their networks.

YES, just saw this on engadget and ordered myself up a shiny new Skyrocket! It'll be a huge upgrade over my Nexus One. I'd been hoping for the Galaxy Nexus on AT&T, but that'll likely be $250-$300 on contract... too hard to pass up $0.01.
The deal works great for me since I've ported my number to google voice, I can easily add a new line and the new phone number doesn't matter since I just point GV to the new number. My current line is out of contract so I just cancel it when the skyrocket arrives and I should only be out the penny!
yup returning mine under BRE as soon as the amazon one comes in
That's one cent too much for what that phone's worth. Meaning if you can't use LTE why bother. Might as well get the regular S2.
I jumped on the penny deal from amazon to pick up an ATT one.
I didn't opt for the wireless tethering/hotspot hoping that I can root and get the Wireless Tether App running correctly.

I guess there's no trick to getting around the requirement that you be a new customer or add a new line?
I've been with AT&T for 10 years and have 3 lines with them. You'd think they'd reward loyalty more.

Ordered mine yesterday. Will be here today. Only worried I keep hearing that samsung's in house SoC is better and this won't get much in ROM support.
The size, fact that I'll have a LTE phone when it's here & the price sold me though
Samsung's SoC is better but Qualcomm has a better radio. What's more important to you?
The radio, I live in a area that is quick to get network updates so I'm sure LTE will be here sooner than later
Ordered two of these a couple days ago! Bigger screen and faster processor than the standard S II! Just got them an hour ago, at the doc with my wife right now. Tried setting them up but data won't work, gotta take them to a store after the doc. They are fast! I won't miss my inspire haha

The UPS guy just dropped mine off an hour ago and I am already in love with it. The large screen is drop dead beautiful and it's incredibly fluid...despite comments that it's laggy (though, all phones get laggy at some point, I just think most of those came from people that were s2 processor snobs ).
I am coming from an iPhone 4 but I'm already pleased with this beast (still love my iPhone and iOS but that's another story but I've always loved both operating systems -Android/iOS-). Can't wait to fully enjoy it and set it up however I want/need.

June 20th ....SGS3 T-Mobile

You may have already heard the news released today about the Samsung Galaxy S3 arriving in stores on June 20th (fingers crossed ) but I thought I would post it for others to see. T-Mobile also has included release dates for a few other phones like the Galaxy Note (way too big ) and the Mytouch line of devices. The fallowing information has been provided by TMOnews.
Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Metallic Blue – June 20th
Samsung Galaxy S III 32GB Metallic Blue – June 20th
T-Mobile myTouch (Huawei Phoenix) – July 11th
T-Mobile myTouch (Huawei Buddy) – July 11th
Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Ceramic White – July 11th
Samsung Galaxy Note – July 11th
* I got my eye on the Blue 32gb. SGS3....(Pebble Blue)
What are you all thinking?
July 11th for me, not wasting my time with the blue version. White is just too pretty.
Hope they release the radio for the note before the release of the t-mobile note. I just don't see myself rockin a smaller screen lol

Not sure about price...How much does a Note go for on other networks? Probably similar pricing? I bought my SGS2 for full price the day it came out and I kicked myself for doing so. I had the MT4G in one hand and the SGS2 in the other, what am I supposed to do? lol....I called T-Mobile this afternoon to check on my upgrade status. and what do ya know? This June I will be due for a full upgrade, just in time for the worlds greatest smartphone aka SGS3. Or until a better phone drops 2 weeks later....haha. My guess is no less than $600.00, and who knows about the difference in price from the 16gb to the 32gb? I cant imagine it being over a 100 dollar difference between the two, but what do I know. Our luck it will be like $850.00 or something ridiculous...
T-mobile is notorious for making you pay way too much for a phone even when you have a full upgrade available. Needless to say I'll be waiting to see reviews and developments before I jump onto any of these, even though the galaxy III is calling my name.

July 11th for me, not wasting my time with the blue version. White is just too pretty.

Uh... What? T-Mobile is known for having the cheapest subsidized pbones.. Most other carriers sell new phones around $299 with an upgrade. I paid $99 for my s2.

My opinion, these phones hardware are ahead of the software. I think all the high end phones are going to pretty much work the same until we have some software they fully utilizes quad core.

The last time I bought a phone, upgraded, and added a 2 year contract on my plan was when I got a Blackberry Curve 8900 right around when the phone came out for close to $300. I've been using a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone I bought from a friend up until I got my S2 about 6 months ago. I paid $400 dollars (With a $50 dollar rebate, whoopdeedoo...) out of pocket with an obvious full upgrade at a T-Mobile store not an "Authorized" reseller. Close friend of mine paid the same amount as me shortly afterwards.
I would have much rather have paid the glorious $99 dollars you paid. Did you get it during a promotion?

Thats very strange. I have never seen a subsidized phone at T-Mobile cost $300-400. It was a sale when I bought mine, but the normal price was $199

I got my TMO Sensation 4G in 8/2011 and it cost me $229 up front. Was supposed to be $249, but the salesclown screwed up and initially said $199. I was going to walk away, then he offered a bit less and I took it since I really wanted the Sensation. My big mistake, picking the phone first instead of the carrier. I didn't realize TMO coverage is not so hot here in Vegas. I will be switching to either Verizon or Sprint in 14 months unless TMO dramatically upgrades their coverage.

Just found my receipt, the breakdown looks like this.
Phone price - $279.99 (Discount - Normally $499.99)
Sales Tax - $43.59 (Based on the full price of the phone)
Upgrade Fee - $18.00
Upgrade Fee Tax -$1.58
Total = $341.58
I feel molested after hearing you paid a whopping $99 dollars....

What part of town? The Sensation 4G has mediocre reception, I had one. T-Mobile's biggest problem is EDGE coverage, not a total lack of. Thankfully after two years of them basically stopping any major investments in the Las Vegas area, they are picking back up again. Mountains Edge just got 4G HSPA+ instead of the 3G it was on.
Dude I can't wait!!!!!
