should i unroot ericcson x8 before warranty repair? - General Questions and Answers

hi,have found threads like this but dont understand because i heard that if a phone is rooted sony ericcson can unroot it by applying updates,my screen colours are messed up just black and white and then the phone turns off how am i going to unroot it if i have to.
i used superoneclick can i unroot by applying another update.
also i dont have any roms on it just rooted apps and i had a boot manager on it so i guess its near impossible to save any apps on the phone memory.

Use a file explorer (from the market) and delete "Superuser.apk" from the system/app folder
Use the updated Superoneclick and click "Unroot"
and ignore the error that happens when it cannot find "superuser"..
I would unroot before any repairs, otherwise you run the risk of them denying the repairs due to modifications you have made to the phone.

Thanx a mill completely forgot about file exploring
with my PC I could rescue some apps this way.
What about getting rid of xrecovery and busybox

htc3dweatherwidget.apk

So wife was looking in her widget drawer and couldn't find the weather widget. I just rooted her mt4gs and kept it stock. No idea where the widget is. Weird thing is, she is using it currently on her home screen. I can go into system and see it but when I try to reinstall it, it says application not installed.....
Did you go so far as to install clockworkmod?
What software version of the stock ROM is it?
Was it there before rooting?
Did you take away anything, tr to debloat it or anything like that?
Anything else been changed since root?
Do you have a file manager installed on the device?
Do you have adb tools on your computer to maybe push a new .apk file or pull a logcat?
- how much of a hassle would a factory reset be - drastic but keep it in mind as a last resort if other options start to fail.

What software version of the stock ROM is it? Android 2.3.4 ---Sense 3.0--- S/W 1.28.531.10 --- kernel 2.6.35.10-g6dea02d --- build number 1.28.531.10 CL100058 release keys ---baseband 10.48.9007.00U_10.12.9007.07_2M
Was it there before rooting? YES
Did you take away anything, tr to debloat it or anything like that? Debloated using bloater app and "hiding" files/processes using 'APP Hider" ALSO: I did install TITANIUM BACKUP but it has not been used at all. Just loaded it as I am used to using it (had it as 'backup' when I was having issues with bloater.
Anything else been changed since root? Nothing changed except for bloatware removal and app hiding
Do you have a file manager installed on the device?ESFile explorer. I tried to reinstall the .apk from within the system but it failed install every time
Do you have adb tools on your computer to maybe push a new .apk file or pull a logcat? Yep would just need to know commands after getting deviced recognized
- how much of a hassle would a factory reset be - drastic but keep it in mind as a last resort if other options start to fail. I would think factory reset would not reinstall the apk....however I did perform a nandroid backup

i cant c y u would have to unroot, it shouldnt matter as apps dont care if it is rooted or unrooted, correction some apps u have to b rooted to work properly.
do u actually get an error message when trying to install an app
the only way is to restore back to stock, or if u just rooted ur stock firmware, meaning u didnt flash a rom, u can try flashing the system.img file, that might work but i never heard of any1 doing that
Yes, application refuses to work telling me that "rooted" phones are not supported. So basically it installs, checks if phone is rooted and refuses to proceed. I hoped I can flash something in CMW to temporarely unroot, then run application, let it do it one time thing (I need to run this application only once successfully) and then I root back in CWM again.

dont think there is a temporary unroot method, going back to stock was the true method to unrooting, which app were u trying to install.
u can trying going back to stock, installing app, let it do its thing, backup with tibu or some other backup, reroot and then restore backup of app.....maybe wont work as restoring a backup is actually reinstalling the app
edit: try this i havent so try at ur own risk http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2012/06/how-to-easily-unroot-any-android-phone.html it seems easy enough, i didnt think it was possible but it seems to b

Using root explorer or ES File Explorer, mount system as r/w, delete /system/app/Superuser.apk, /system/bin/su or /system/xbin/su (it will be in one of those two places), and then reboot. done.

thats deleting the app the rooted the phone, but does it actually undo the rooting process, the system files the app changed to make it rooted r still there, the way to check is if u do delete su app, c if root explorer can can mount ur system folder to r/w, or op can c if it the app does install after deleting su.
actually u need su to grant su, so that might not b a good test

The superuser cwm zip installs su and superuser.apk, that's it. There are no other modified apps.
You can remove busy box also if you like, but it's not much use without su.

kool. i learn something everyday
There is cool app in Playstore (free) which allows rooting/unrooting with no reboots and other complicated steps
FYI
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwxLDMsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdXBlcnN1Il0
Voodoo OTA can do a temp unroot as well. The Flixter app will not allow you to stream movis on a rooted phone. I used Voodoo to temp unroot then went back into Flixter and it started to play the movie.
I use an app called Temp root remover
It allows you to temporarly unroot and reroot in a matter of seconds

[Completed] Files left after rooting/unrooting my phone

Hi
Ive recently rooted my phone using v root (the chinese version). I needed to root the phone to remove some unwanted firmware, after i amended the firmware i unrooted the phone which deleted the chinse superuser. I then unistalled the apps the chinese superuser left, i also found some sort of files left by the rooting app which i deleted (these apps could not be opended by the phone). I ve run AVG which confirms my phone is not under threat but wondered if the rooting app will have left anything unwanted.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks For using XDA Assist
Rooting allows unrestricted access to applications and there is a chance that some kind of background script and/or other malicious app might be installed in the background. One of the common ways to check the apps pushed/installed is to use application like root explorer and check the date stamps of files in /system. Files with unusual date stamps might be the ones modified.
It's better if you restore your phone to stock firmware and root again. Try these methods to root your phone

Good day !
What specifically am I lookin for, won't some of the system dates have been changed because of the root. I've now unroofed the phone.

Unless there is a specific method used on ALL of your system files ,your system dates will remain unchanged. I don't think someone will resort to that method imo.
But you have a point. Rooting might modify some important system files.
Unrooting is not a complete solution . Flashing back to a stock ROM/firmware is the complete solution. After unrooting ,you need to change read only status to read write which can only be done if you are rooted. Or via running a shell exploit. It's a catch 22 situation.
Thats why I would recommend flashing Stock Firmware if possible !
Have a good day

Help rooting and cleaning kingroot traces (root failed) Smartphone550

Hi everyone,
I have a Master Smartphone550 with android 4.4.2. On this device the on board memory is easily filled, so, was trying a way to move almost everything in the sd. I tried with adb(but without sdk tool, only adb)(pm set-install-location 2) but it won't let me move the apps even if the change i've done seems to be ok. So I tried to root the phone and, according to a 3rd I found on xda, I tried with iroot...of course it failed but, more then that, my phone was full of s**t installed with that software.... I proceded then with a factory reset, but it didn't remove that s**t...so the only thing i've been able to do is deactivate kingroot and a sort of crap software called settings that opens like 6-7 processes that open ads every 5 sec...the phone is now apparently clean (but apps are still there) but the end of the story is that my situation is worse than the beginning...
Now, honestly I don't know how to proceed. Of course I don't have a backup of the rom before installing kingroot.
The question is, especially now with those bad softwares on the phone, is there a chance to root it? How can I do that?
According to antutu it seems to have a MTK 6582 as processor.
If you need any information I'll do all I can to give it to you.
P.S. I'm sorry for the long post and thanks if you arrived here.
P.S.S. I'm really sorry if there are errors in the 3d but English isn't my first language, I hope it is clear and understandable.
Thanks to everyone.
As I understand, only KingRoot was able to root your phone, and now you whant it to be replaced by non-adware-root-supersu
If so, follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/a310/general/how-to-remove-replace-kingroot-kinguser-t3308989
If the script doesn't remove all of KingRoot, simply search for files named *king* and decide, if they belog to KingRoot, and delete if they do.
If it doesn't work, try replacing every "rm" command in the script with "rm-Rf" and maybe add a "sync"-command here and there…

Thanks for the reply, but the problem is that the phone is NOT rooted(kingroot failed on everything except installing his s**t in my phone) and the only way I have to delete everything is root the phone...the point is how can I do that this point?
EDITK, I've done it. The phone is rooted... king root is installed and using titanium backup I managed to delete the ads app. I've frozen app here and there and phone seems to be ok. Any advice of things I can delete? Do you think it is really necessary to change kingroot for SU? Can it stay...let's say...clean?

I'd replace it, because TitaniumBackup sais that su-version could cause mistakes - and replacing isn't that hard. But if you don't run into trouble, root-access still works and you really got rid of the bold adds from KingRoot – you might as well keep it as it is ^^
