Phone was fine, sleeping. Tried waking up and nothing. Tried again nothing. So I figured crap it's shut itself off and won't turn on. So battery pull and turned it back on. Then boom! Get's to the T-Mobile G2X logo and then just freezes there. WTF???
For a while I thought that was it, I pulled battery yet again.
Turned back on and now it booted up ok. WTF is going on with this? I've never seen these type of issues with other phones. What could cause this? Almost seems like a hardware issue because I used it all day today for about 10h with no issues.
So I got the phone at 4PM yesterday.
- Worked fine from 4PM - 11PM. I rebooted myself. Started up fine and then rebooted at 11:30PM
- Worked fine rest of night and went to bed at 2AM...was charging all night, woke up and used it fine. 8:30AM rebooted.
- Used it all day at work and no issue. Was using it while walking the dog at like 6PMish and boom reboot.
- Used it since 6PM and then it just did the hard lock/screen off thing that required 2 battery pulls to revive it.
Before this last what is essentially a crash, I had GPS turned off so that didn't help. I've turned it back on.
In all these situations I had WiFi calling enabled so I'm now trying with WiFi calling disabled and see if I still have issues.
I'm giving this phone a week because I love it so much but if I can't get it stable it's going back and I'll have to go back to VZW and my Incredible. Major bummer
Have none of those issues. Might have a defective phone. And u were a verizon customer and didn't get the TB? Verizon LTE blows everyone... way faster than Tmo.. I have both lol so I know what I'm talking. G2x faster tho but TB faster network. Downloads and browsing

Ummm... I got 12Mbps on MyTouch4G on T-Mo's network - my buddy has the TB and has yet to pass 9. If this phone had HSPA+ 21, I imagine I'd be able to eek out 17 or 18 on T-Mo.
Anyway yeah I don't have any issues with mine other than things that were my own stupidity (skipping the Google login and trying to set it up later which broke wifi calling and market access over wifi and required a factory reset to fix). Its an amazing device!
Yeah, I'm all clean here too. I'm not experiencing anything negative and been using the phone all day. Fantastic device, glad I got it.
Sounds like you got a lemon and need to try another before you trash it s having serious problems.....
Try again there's always bad ones out the batch.

on my tb i hit 16-even 20mbps lol i haven't touch over 8mbps on my g2x yet and upload speeds are much better with verizon
Those of you not having problems. Are you all using Wifi calling? Do you have network mode to auto, GSM or wcdma?
CNN just updated their app so maybe that'll help me if that was the culprit.

I have a Xoom on Verizon that will soon get LTE and I'll use as a hotspots so I don't really need a VZ phone.

I also have the thunderbolt and the nexus s and I previously owned the mytouch 4g. And verizon 4g is spectacular to say the least. I have downloads speeds as high as 20mbs on a consistent basis. Tmobile can not compete with verizon service. But tmobile does offer a great value, and has stellar customer service.
Meh, idk. I use both and while Verizon 4g is currently fast, not always faster, that wont last. On 3g, Verizon is much slower.

And if T-Mobile had gone with a better chipset (21-42Mbps instead of the same 14.4 that the G2 has - mind you the Vibrant 4G has 21Mbps HSPA and my buddy regularly gets similar speeds to yours - 17-19 down and about 2.4 up) for the baseband, it would be a non-issue. T-Mobile has a smaller network and thus more backhaul than Verizon. Also, using the AWS band, T-Mobile can support more calls and data connections per tower than Verizon can on the 700 band. Its just the way that the spectrum works. 700MHz broadcasts further but can't handle as many connections as 1700 can but 1700 requires more towers for sufficient coverage but has over twice the total network capacity as 700. That said, Verizon being an ISP as well gives them a backhaul advantage.
As was previously stated though, do not expect the speeds on Verizon to last. Also keep in mind that Verizon is quite like Sprint at this point - you have to have LTE *AND* CDMA turned on to make and receive calls and still get your 4G data. This equals much higher battery drain than an equivalent "HSPA+" phone on T-Mobile with the same signal strength being taken into account.
Anyway, as was said earlier in the thread, don't give up on the phone. Try a factory reset first (settings/privacy) and set everything back up again - if that does not work, exchange the device. I've had no issues outside of my own doing with the G2x yet which is amazing since I almost never buy the first generation of a device due to bugs. LG really makes high end android phones.
I had installed the Car Home from the Market by sending to the phone via bt. After looking at my usage in spare parts it looks like it was using some sensor all the time so I'm hoping that was the issue. IV uninstalled it and closed the current car home app that's included. So far no sensor usage. Lets hope that fixes it. Would make sense because I doubt other folks installed this Car Home app on their phones.

I'm also having similar issues with my phone. I received the phone yesterday morning and i've got nothing while trying to wake it up a few times. It's happened about 5-6 times and it seemed to happen while charging the phone. I don't know if that is a coincidence though. I pull the battery and then it will boot up fine. I actually had the same issue with my original G1. The issue went away after the phone received a few updates.

This. Wait until more than a few Verizon customers are on the 4G network, speeds will drop a bunch. LTE will probably still beat out T-Mobile's 4G, but not by much once the network gets some traffic. As it stands, Verizon only has one 4G phone that is pretty new, so I'm sure the total number of 4G users is quite low.

I'm definitely jinxing myself but....since I removed the Car Home app and then rebooted. Then stopped the Car Home app that came with the phone from running. It's been OK. Battery life is better too. If I can get it to last at least 5 days before a reboot, might be livable until an update comes along.

I am still pretty disappointed in this. I can't figure out why T-Mobile downgraded their latest phones (Sensation and G2x) to 14.4 from the 21 of the Vibrant 4G. This is supposed to be their flagship phone, but they didn't even put their best modem in it, yet the Sidekick 4G got a 21Mbps modem? Just don't get it.
**** **** ****! Sorry...just happened again. Reboot. Bam. This is irritating to the extreme. Wifi was off, BT was off, phone had been fine all morning. Was exchanging texts with people and put the phone down. Next thing I see, it's rebooting.

Maybe it's an app that's running but just seems very random.

I believe this has nothing to do with tmobile. the reason why the galaxy s and sidekick support 21mb/s is because the hummingbird processor supports it while the snapdragon and nvidia only support 14.4 mb/s

This doesn't seem so random anymore, and I've read about all the same issues with the O2X. Are you going to try to exchange it before making a final decision?

I'm in the valley too (Gilbert) and m 4g wasn't working at all yesterday (19th) so I turned 4g off in lteonoff and 3g is working fine. Glad I didn't turn it back on yet as I guess it's still down. Nice Verizon, nice.
Stl mo here, just started seeing 1x. Occasionally back to 3/4g but intermittant.

I am curious what's going on too, I have 2 separate accounts, one with a Droid X and one with a Thunderbolt, and the DX isn't having calling issues, but the Tbolt keeps saying my phone isn't "registered" and I spent last night, no joke like over an hour on the phone with 4g Techs trying to troubleshoot it... then after that long time, they said "well we will call your Droid X line tomorrow and see if they Thunderbolt has gotten working again." and they never called back... Oh what makes it weird is that my Thunderbolt internet and data from emails is pushing fine.
I was getting 1x on bamf 1.6.3 remix, went back to stock and I'm getting 3g.

got my infuse about 3 weeks ago..love it for the most part but everytime i do a speedtest on phone, with wifi off, i never get more then 1mbps, i get like .07 and .50 if im lucky...they said that some towers are getting fixed and told me to go into the att store...i ran a speedtest frim store model (not on wifi) and got like a sold 2mbps when my phone was next to it getting .25.......had a 3g sim card so i thought maybe that was it but i swapped for 4g sim card and my results were the same??%
any input would be appreciated! anyone have same problem??

They told me the same thing. They said that the whole state of NJ is having trouble.
Try going to speakeasy.net and try their speedtest. For some reason it seems to work better than the app. I have seen others post this and tried it myself with much faster results.
i tried speakeasy and i got up to .99 but like i said store model got 2 mbps with ease right next to my phone so im gonna go swap out my phone since im still within my 30 days and we'll go from there....

I got 9.something mbs when i just got the thing....tested just now, getting 1.1 >_> i think somethings wrong

AT&T's backhaul is overloaded in a lot of areas, NYC is notorious for this.
i.e. your connection to the towers is wicked fast, but the towers' connection to the rest of the world is crap.

Service today was crappier than normal... At points under 1 mbps. Hopefully that means they had a tower down or something to upgrade it to HSPA+. Probably not.
Just upgraded from a tilt 2 to the infuse lastnight r00ted it and added a few apps I just checkd my speed here near Tampa and got 4mbit dn x 1 mbit up.
I'm at USC in LA, and since yesterday my phone has been having issues connecting to LTE. I haven't heard any news of outages,though, so I'm wondering if something is borked with my phone. I was on CM7, but I tried going completely back to stock and still no dice. Is anyone else having LTE issues?

I think it was an outage because 4G kept flickering all day yesterday and now it seems steadily on today without me changing anything. Thanks for the suggestion though.
there's no LTE yet where i am, but every now and then the 3G will cut in & out for about a day or so(and get stuck at 1X). whenever i call Verizon about it they'll either say there's work being done in my area or an area nearby and just said they could transfer me to a tech to see if there's something on my phone not set correctly or will just give the b.s. "pull your battery for 30 seconds" bit.

I'm at USC as well and didn't notice any issues. I was on MR2.5 and flashed the new 802 radio last night which seems even better connection and speed-wise. What radio are you using?
I'm in West LA, on the latest leak, no issues at all yesterday or today.
Currently running on 1x like a boss. Wait a minute that ain't good 4g down on the east side of the city.

Tampa Florida here and I have 3g but its about the speed of 1x and its not stable. Comes and goes sometimes I get the lame 1x too.

same here, it hit about a hour ago. I been reflashing radios and different roms. I think its due to the new cities being added to the 4g network
3G and LTE is out for me too in LA. I'm using 1.48.00.0726w and 0.01.78.0802w_3
currently only 1x and 3G in Vancouver, WA for the past few hours.
LTE is back up. Not sure how long that will last though

4G was fine in Cincy yesterday, but I am seeing mostly 1x today with a brief connection to 3G that quickly reverted back to 1x.
Stuck in 1x for the past few hours, always get 4G here. (Seattle)
Anyone ever use this as an excuse to #611 and go "on record" to *****? I've been hesitant to call them for anything since I heard they can see our roots and ROMs.

I've barely been able to keep 1x in Los Angeles. Right now I've got nothing. Occasionally 1x would come up for a few minutes and a couple times 3g/4g would pop up and vanish quickly. Shame since it was working just fine this morning. Hit some time around noon or so PST for me.

I am near Philadelphia, PA and am only getting 1x started 2 hours ago.
4G down in So Cal, I had called Verizon on another matter, and their is a prerecorded message that said they know 4G is down in my area & they're working on it.
when my friend got his first phone 3g an 4g was down, last night up until today i rooted + put a custom rom and he didnt have signal so i thought it was my fault and ive been trying to fix it ever since. now i know its Verizons problem
Its got me as well in WI.
I cant even get 1x most of the time.
BTW, its a big thing across the country.
