Clock work recovery buttons - Verizon Droid Charge

So know in Recovery mode the menu button is used for the back button.
I used it before with my fascinate.
except today was the first time i wanted to go from AlteredBeast to just
stock deodexed ROM
so i went into recovery to disable lagfix but the menu button would not let me go back.
is this not supported yet on the charge or am i missing something.
i did get the ROM to run but there was no browser so i couldn't surf the web and the market wasn't letting me download a anything.
so i am currently flashing back to Altered beast as it is the only thing to work for me so far.
The only problem i had with altered beast was i kept losing signal, i would lose 3g then get 1x and sometimes nothing.
I wasn't sure if it's something the charge is dealing with or the ROM
thanks guys.

Which CWM are you using? The one from JT or the one I posted? The buttons don't work in the one JT posted, and it was a PITA to get them to work in the one I posted as the build didn't want to pull in the button mappings properly.

I am using whatever came with alteredbeast. I just went and find your "mostly working"cwm thread.
I suppose I flash that over alteredbeast and ill have a mostly working cwm? Cool thanks for the work.
And the reply

The CWM that comes with Altered Beast is jt1134's along with his Voodoo Lagfix Kernel, his is red while imnuts version is yellow. I find that imnuts version does most of what I need but I know we cannot backup/restore along with no factory resest yet but its a work in progress and I know he is working on it.
I also know that Koush is working on updating his there was a bug in his CWM that ROM manager d/l's for the Charge.

clockwork mod recovery question

so i rooted my g2x with the one click methode and got su. then i did the one click clockwork mod recovery flash. when i press vol down and powere it takes me to clockworkmod recovery, but all of menu is red. is this normal? alsoafter downloading rom manager i flashed the recovery and made some back ups, but when i reenter rom mananager my backups are gone, when i load into recovery backups are there! seems like rom manger doesnt stay synced with phone. i am using eagleblood rom and when i try to power off phone it doesnt respond , so i have to take out battery! please help, any info is welcome! thanks.
not sure which way it goes.. but depending on which CWR you installed, it may be working off of your external card.. and rom manager is looking for backups on the internal.
just gotta connect usb and move the files or use some kinda file manager app.

ok im thinking you did the nvflash method which is good if you did since the menu is red(yes this is normal). your probably not going to see your backups unless you do it the volume down & power way. not sure why its not powering off. you may wanna trying down loading the eagleblood rom again booting into clockwork with the volume down method installing the rom that way and see if that works.
sounds like a hassle i probably wont even use rom manager any more. thanks for info
thanks for info ill just skip rom manager all together, which rom is the most stable in your opinion

I Would go with Dark or Light sinister rom 2.2.1, or the Ultimate rom 2.2.1. until the release gb sourse or until krylon drops bionix rc2 which is hopefully soon.

At this point, as far as the most stable.. I agree.. anything w/ 2.2.1.. Most have been just sticking w/ stock because of many diff probs with 2.2.3/4. I think that's why the GB was 'leaked' a while ago. To help get some of these bugs brought to the surface.. and probably why we have seen the delay in launch. At least, I hope that's the case. I would not be shocked if they purposely leak these so they can watch the boards to see what probs are out there... Then spend a few weeks fixing it.
I'd have to agree that as far as using 'something' different, Bionix is good.. but it has its probs too. It has the typical reboots/locks up as most others have (excluding 2.2.1). Don't expect Bionix updates to be released like the others. They try to create a quality rom without doing "nightlies". Also, the dev is working on a 100 other projects. Not sure where the bionix priority is, but I'm sure it is not at the top of the list on a regular basis.
Seriously, from looking at how functional all of these releases are.. I think stock is your best option. After using Bionix for a few weeks now, I like it.. but the reboots/lockups are a pain.

[Q] Darn boot problems, MIUI on Samsung Infuse

Forgive the title, I need it to make it interesting to get some views. Now that's said, let me get to it.
I recently tried to flash MIUI onto my Samsung Infuse. I had Infused ROM v.2.2.3. I must have messed up because now I'm having trouble getting my phone to start. When I power on, it briefly shows the Samsung logo (for about 3 sec); then for split second an alternate screen flashes on my screen just before my phone shuts off. Now, I've tried to load CWM(red version) with the 2/3 button technique; however, I haven't been able to get into that GUI.
I have been able to get into the Download screen, for Odin. But, I was hoping there might be some sort of way to solve this problem without resetting my phone to stock.
Questions
1. Can I utilize the Download screen to re-implement or re-flash my ROMs on my phone; without loosing data
2. Is there a way that I can force my way into the CWM GUI?
3 If none of the above are possible, where can I get information Odin for the Infuse; and where can I download the program?
Thank you for reading, and thanks for the help in advance!
Joaquin
I wasn't going to reply to your thread but you caught me in a good mood. head over to the dev forum and you will find everything you need to get your phone back. That's all I'm goin to give you. the more you search and experiment the more you will learn
Already found somethings that are helping...
I didn't post for as a resource, just thought that if someone knew where to look they'd point me in the right place.
For anyone who might need a nudge; this link will direct you to complete recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
Did you follow the directions exactly as it says? Did you ever get into blue cwm and flash miui a second time?
Sent from my SGH-I997
I wouldn't recommend MIUI to anyone who isn't atleast a little experienced in flashing ROMs, and are sure won't panic if they find their system soft bricked.
went to http://galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/weekly-builds/ downloaded infuse rom using miui build 112230 wiped data, cache, dalvik applied installed galnet miui rebooted does not load stays on samsung logo wiped data, cache, dalvik reinstalled galnet does not work, used blue cwm, returned phone to stock froyo, using odin reinstalled galnet using green cwm, still doesnt work, dont know what im doing wrong, please help, do i need to install gb bootloaders?

Help! boot loop

ok so i rooted a few weeks ago and downloaded the usual apps. super user titanium back up and clock work mod. tried to flash a rom with clock work mod and got the e:signature verification failure message. found a post for a kernal that made clock work mod actually work so i tried to flash a rom. zSimplyAOKPV5_Dark to be exact. now it sticks on boot screen. i have searched for hours and cannot find a way to fix my problem. its my first rooted android and first attempted rom flash and i botched it right off the rip. please help?
Depending on what you did beforehand, you have some options.
If you have backed everything up previously, just flash back to stock with one of the one-click stock roms in the Development section (they're in a sticky).
If you haven't backed everything up, try holding V+/V-/power until it reboots. If it doesn't take you to recovery, you can try to flash a kernel (most likely one that would match the version of android/rom you were running prior to this flash) and see if it lets you into recovery. You'll have to flash it with either Odin or Heimdall, after rebooting into download mode (power off, hold V+/V-, insert USB).
If that doesn't work, though, the stock flashing would probably be your best and/or only bet.
it wont allow me into recovery though i can get to download mode by pulling the battery and pressing just the volume +- and plugging in the usb. i was trying to flash an ics slim rom. thanks for your very speedy response.
i have now tried to flash a stock rom however it is not working from there even with the stock kernal. now it is hanging on the at&t screen.
ok i got it. seems the kernal i flashed to help cwd work properly was the culprit. now i dont know how im going to flash this ics rom im looking at without it.

Flash corn kernel if you have stock gingerbread
Sent from my SGH-I897
The utility in my signature can help you flash the Corn Kernel so that you will have CWM.
I have corn kernal and odin 3 on the computer at home. Ill do that tonight. Any suggestions on a good stable rom for a noob? Preferably ics. I hated posting for fear of being flamed as a noob. My wife keeps making fun of me for it so I kinda have to get it done. I want to fix hers also. Its a great little phone it just seem a bit buggy to me. Very laggy. Thanks for all the help.

Maybe start with a KK4 based rom such as Legend and then move up to ICS after that. I only say that because there is a bug in ICS that could render your internal SD unusable. It's rare, but when it happens you will not be happy.
Still unable to get corn kernal to flash. I've tried a few of your guys fixes but I'm gonna have to get some other updates to my computer first.

Upgrade CWM and Cyanogenmod?

I'm currently running CWM 2.5.1.2 that came with a Gingerbread ROM and I wanted to know if there is a way to upgrade it without having to lose all my data and starting from scratch. I have ROM Manager and it says that its the latest version so I figured I would have to flash it manually. After looking around I see that there are cases of people successfully getting newer versions of CWM working on their devices but most aren't stable. I also want to know if the Infuse can support Cyanogenmod 7 or above. It seems there are a lot of perks to having the mod.
Thanks!
Cwm is packed in our kernels, which means you get whatever version is used on the rom/kernel.
GB has the red one (I believe that is yours)
ICS is blue (5.x.x)
JB is blue w/ gray background (6.x.x)
We are already in cyanogenmod 10 and it is incredible. Take a look at the dev section for more options.

So, I knew that the Red CWM was often the one that has the Voodoo Lag Fix options and all...
Which CWM was the green one?
I had never seen it before until I rooted my friend's phone, and somehow had a green CWM until I put ICS on. I'm really not sure where I grabbed the package from with CWM. <_<
Don't use ROM manager. Usually it will bootloop after flashing.
Some apps you may be able to restore settings for non-system apps from titanium backup. I've done this a couple times to restore my bookmarks in dolphin. I don't think that would work for the stock browser if you change ROMs.

I think it was from Froyo.. when you had to first change the 3e recovery to a modded one in order to flash an update.zip that would install cwm.

OooooHHH! Yeah. That's right.
Wow, that had been so long, the green CWM felt foreign to me. =X
Froyo... Froyo... It sounds so distant and antiquated.

(Q) Rogers Infuse 4G - successful rooting - lag fix fiasco

Good morning,
While not a noob to rooting or flashing (currently active on Galaxy tab 2 boards) I appear to have made a noob mistake, and even though I searched and read stickies, etc - still made the mistake.
I rooted the Rogers Infuse 4G using this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248 and it worked without issue.
Decided to try the enable lag fix option - deleted the voodoo file on the sd card, and rebooted the phone. Phone got stuck on SAMSUNG screen (unfortunately - did not notice that the volume was off on the phone) and I did not hear the "voice" telling me what was going on - so rebooted the phone by holding the power button until it rebooted.
Spent a couple of hours after that re-reading, and since I was able to get into download mode - was able to reflash stock package through odin. When the phone did finally reboot (thankfully, as this is my daughter's daily driver) I noticed there was already a voodoo file on the sd card, with another file inside named "logs" Just in case, I deleted that file, and added a new one called "disable-lagfix" as per the original instructions.
Just to be sure - went back and ran the rooting procedure, and can confirm that we have root.
From there, I decided to flash the 100% working CWM Recovery file through Rom Manager - found the details on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107881 and can confirm that after rebooting into recovery - the phone has CWM Version 2.5.1.2
The phone is currently fully functional, no issues with network or wifi, playstore, etc - but would like to know if anyone can confirm that we are good to go should we decide to upgrade to a custom rom. I've done so much reading - that the recovery version confuses me ( red or blue, etc). I realize that some of the threads are back from early to mid 2011 - so not sure if they are still completely valid - so am asking before proceeding.
Phone settings are the following:
Kernal 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
Build GB.UXKG3
Baseband I997RUXKG3
Firmware 2.3.3
CWM 2.5.1.2
Currently have the voodoo/disable-lagfix file on the sd card
If anyone has gotten this far into the thread - and can offer up some feedback or recommendations - it would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Bill
I usually don't trust Rom manager, but if you are able to boot to recovery then I would say you are good.
If you want the red one (don't remember the version) you could flash a custom kernel with sgs kernel flasher (available on play store).
Infusion should work for you

Thanks for the reply - appreciate your time
Guess it's time to turn that volume up, delete the voodoo folder, and cross my fingers....
Just to confirm - do I delete the voodoo folder itself, or the disable-lagfix folder inside the voodoo folder only ?
Again, thanks
:good:
What were you planning on flashing?
You can probably leave it there for now, and after you have flashed then you can dispose of the folder.

First off andros11 - thank you so much for your time in replying to my issue.
My daughter has been looking over the development site - and,
as it stands right now, she has her mind set on the Dark Night Rom by VortexJunior.
Here is the link, if it helps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662280
The install instructions, while relatively simple - and similar to what I am used to doing - but no mention of lagfix
Installation: From Gingerbread
1. Download Zip
2. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
3. Wipe Cache Partition
4. Flash
5. Reboot into recovery(Advanced>Reboot recovery)
6. Flash again
7.BAMM!
Thanks again for your time and replies,
Regards
Once on ICS I don't think you have to mind about lag-fix..
Also, I suggest you just reboot instead of rebooting into recovery. That often causes recovery bootloops.
When you reboot, the phone will hang at the kernel splash screen (this is normal). Just take out the battery, place it back in and boot into recovert with 3-finger combo (vol +, vol - and power, and let go when samsung logo pops up)
My personal suggestion is that you move on to JB. It performs much better, and mostly all development is now there.
Perfect - thanks
Am running CM 10.1 on my tablet, and love it
Will have my daughter research JB ROMs instead.....
Happy Holidays to you and your family

Lag fix??
I am confused.. what exactly is the lagg fix? My GF has a JB (one of phablet ROMS) installed and all the JB ROMS I have installed on this phone (and I think all ROMS besides JB) have had lagg problems. So I would really like to know how to fix this phone.
About that lagfix...
If I remember correctly voodoo lag fix was originally designed for the Galaxy S to change the file system it ran at to something that made the phone feel more responsive and access recourses quicker. It was ported to other ROMs so if a ROM includes it then you're ok to use it but I don't think you can just apply it to any JB ROM. Plus after using a GB ROM with this lagfix for some time, any 4.0 and above ROM I have used after that has been a LOT quicker in comparison. So I would probably look into the way you JB roms were installed maybe do a data wipe/factory wipe in CWM and reinstall the ROM from the beginning. What ROMs are you using exactly?
