I've been trying to switch back to Leedroid from Coredroid and just have been having some crappy luck. I purchased the Pro of Titanium Backup and used it before I flashed Leedroid. Also I backed up my texts using GoSMSPro. Now when I go to restore my apps it doesn't restore any but it says it does and there are a bunch of apps that say they are backed up but they are crossed out. They fail when I try and do app+data and are successful if I just do the app however they don't show up on my phone. When I try to restore my texts using gosms it will let me do only a few even though they were backed up at the same time.
Please help this is annoying lol
EDIT: Also I thought Leedroid was supposed to download my apps from the market like Coredroid did? It did on a previous version if I'm not mistaken.

Do a full wipe and then reflash man.
Also I use titanium to backup apps, but Once I have a rom configured I do a full rom backup so I can just do a recover and switch back to it fully config'd. You may want to try that.

Full wipe and reflash where?
In Clockwork I wiped the cache, did a factory wipe, and cleared davlik before I flashed. I'm getting a FC on messages when I get texts using gosms but gosms works just not the restores.

I wish I could say why. But I do not know why. Could be a bad wipe, or something left from a rom before or maybe the current rom just didn't flash right. I actually have never had the issue but many here have.

Factory reset. Clear Cache, Clear Delvik, Download a new copy of the rom you want. Fresh.
I think there is a file you can download too that will clean it completely too. Maybe someone else can link it for ya.

If you flash a different radio after the one in the Hack Kit or from Bubby's "one Click", your data speeds will be hosed. Get your rom config'd like you want, make a nadroid of it for later. Dl the radio you want(newest OTA is great) and the hack kit.
Now make a folder on C:\ called hackit and unzip/rar the hack kit to it. Go to the hackit folder, open the radio folder and delete its contents. Now copy the zip from the radio you dl'ed to the radio folder in the hack kit. Now run the hack kit all the way through but not past step five. Once you've completed step five, reboot into CWM/recovery, wipe data factory reset then restore your the nandroid you made of your fully config'd rom.
Enjoy good data speeds again.

use the full wipe zips. search fullwipe. flash 1.3 and 1.5
I usually manually wipe everything then run this zip before flashing the rom.
just remember if you use this full wipe it will erase your rom and you won't have one, flash new rom before restart!

Ok so I have Vahalla Final flashed through Odin as my first ROM on this phone. Everything has been great for a few days and I flashed the lighting tweak today with no issues. Just a little while ago I made a backup and flashed the Linda voices and the Ki3 modem bc I saw where the KJ6 didn't allow long text messages. When I flashed the modem some blue words popped up really zoomed in on another screen then it was done. The phone was laggy so i tried to delete everything and restore like I had done numerous times on old phone.
I did a factory reset then cache then tried to format system. These are all steps i used to successfully take on other phone. It won't let me format the system though. Says: "format_volume failed to mount "/system" error formatting system!"
Where did I go wrong? Am I supposed to do some more wacky things on this phone for a restore? Everything else on it seems to take 20 more steps

CWM versions prior to those in bhndven's Slightly Modified Stock kernels have a problem with mounting/unmouting the /system partition in GB. I believe you can backup and restore user data, but nothing on the /system partition.
Flashing the KI3 modem shouldn't have had an effect like you're describing, though. I can't say I've had an issue like that at all or heard of people having that issue after flashing the modem.

So everything should run fine after trying the actual restore of my backup even though i couldn't format the system? I have a backup but don't want to restore over data that wasn't deleted or whatever. If that's possible.
How the hell do i know which modem to use anyways? There's like 10 to choose from
Uh yeah I forget it tries to format system anyways when restoring... and it couldn't. So what do i do? Re-flash the GB starter pack way through Odin?

As for the modem, I'm using KI3 on mine. You already did a factory reset so you should be able to just re-flash Valhalla.
Trying now. Does Vahalla automatically change all the mounts that the other roms require changing before flashing?

No worries. Good luck
Hey I still have an issue. I reflashed Vahalla through CWM and it was fine at first all the way through setting everything up like it was before. Ran smooth. I went to the market this morning and checked for updates and Google Search, Maps and Superuser updated. Phone started acting really laggy again. Scrolls really slow, pulls up GO Launcher menu slowly, etc.
It seems to me that the re flash installed over the existing data that was left on the phone since i couldn't format my system.
My new question is, what's the best way to re do everything including formatting the system if I can't format through CWM? If I flash through Odin does that format everything? Or am I better of just going through the whole GB Starter Pack process again?? Or will that even work now since i've already done it?

If you flashed and "it was fine at first all the way through setting everything up"...
try reflashing as you did before. Do fresh installs on as much as you can ONE AT A TIME. And then restore ONE AT A TIME what you can't do fresh installs on. It sounds like one of your backups is not agreeing with the system. Install/Restore ONE AT A TIME and play with phone between each to see if you can determine which backup your system is not agreeing with.
Did that make sense??
EDIT: And make sure to wipe dalvik cache and cache partition before you reflash as is always recommended.

Yeah it makes sense thanks. I will do this despite how impatient I am (see where that got me). I'm just got spoiled on another phone that was way way easier to work with. Weren't as many options to screw up either.
Any suggestions on how I can get my system to format for future reference?

I have never formatted my system nor read anybody wanting/needing to format their system. A factory reset is what people use to clean the gremlins along with wiping dalvik cache and cache partition. Bhundven has recommended flashing the same rom twice in a row I believe to help make sure all installs correctly (I think he was talking about bootloaders when he recommended that).
But a factory reset is what I think you are trying to accomplish with formatting your system.

I use GoLauncher on Vahalla Black with no problems. I think it has to do with your backup... not the app itself.
I wiped caches, did factory reset, tired to format system again with no luck and accidentally restarted before re-flashing Vahalla. Which, I guess I didn't really need to do anyways if it's an App causing the issue. I guess the factory reset would be enough. Smooth again so i will try some fresh reinstalls now. Thanks for the noob patience

Ok cool. In another phones forum a system wipe is actually suggested a lot. I think... I did it every time on the G2x before installing any new roms or backups. I wasn't doing it at first but started after someone suggested it. But yeah I think the factoy reset is enough. Seems to be enough so far.

I am a noob too. No worries. Vahalla Black is solid. Backups are tricky. Fresh installs are the way to go.
So I finally got my wife to trust me the other night and went for it. All I did was install clockwork mod then root by installing Imoseyon's v.4.0 Kernel. This allowed me to keep all her data and use the voodoo lagfix as it has helped a few other friends phones that I have rooted. All was well till the following day when she complained her phone froze several times and needed a battery pull to restart. So being the compulsive person I am I had her go into voodoo control and uncheck the enable lagfix box. Once restarted she was unable to open any app that was on the SD card. They were just grayed out as if they werent even there. Now she is very unhappy.
I have tried to access the backup I created in CWM before i messed with anything. I get an error. Next I tried flashing the recovery files found here on XDA. Then restore back up. Still an error. So now i have flashe Tweakstock which works but she wants the phone back to stock. I tinker with my phones and friends phones constantly and can usually figure things out when they go wrong but I am really lost here. Any and all help is greatly appriciated.

Which version of CWM did you use?
5.0.2.7 I think, its blue and has a dancing banana in the backround.
In cwm, go to backup/restore, advance, and just restore data
Yes I've had bad luck with that version of cwm. I would try first using the 0817 cwm release to restore the backup. If that doesn't work, i would extract the tar files using 7zip or something similar on your pc, grabbing the files you need, and pushing them back to the proper locations.

So i flashed the 0817 version of CWM. All is well but it still wont restore. I have double checked and everything is in the clockwork folder on the sd card. How do I manually flash them using ODIN? Is this even possible?
So i will be a little more clear with what files I have in the backup folder. There is:
.android_secure.vfat
boot.img
cache.rfs
data.rfs
datadata.rfs
nandroid.md5
recovery.img
system.rfs

Didnt work. I do see my old backup and stock sms.
First of all, which cwm did you make your backup in? If it was orange then you have to restore with orange cwm. If it was blue then make sure you have the newest version of it. The older ones had problems with restores.
If it doesn't work then you might be out of luck. Maybe you had the old blue cwm and the underlying problem was that it made bad backups but restored good backups fine? I don't really know then.
I have had zero problems with the newest cwm by the way.

Well thanks everyone. I think im just out of luck. I went back to stock using the directions at the top of the Charge development section and now when I sign into the market on my computer to push some apps to the phone, it doesnt recognize it. Any clue here?
can you download apps from the market from your phone? If not try boot into cwm and do the following:
1. mount /system, /data etc.. all of them. Once done they should all displayed unmount in front of all.
2. wipe factory/data, cache, davik cache.
4. reboot and sign in with google account then try to download from the market.
To sort of finish the CWM question, CWM 4.X and CWM 5.X do backups differently. Thats why there are problems with restoring with the wrong one.
With that said, sometimes backups don't work.
Also, you flashed the wrong kernel. Imo4.0 is made for EP4P, not the current OTA for the charge, which is EP4D. Imnuts 0130 PBJ Kernel is the only one made for the Gingerbread OTA.

I don't think it matters if you don't go back to stock, it won't make your phone any better by going back, just delete any folders left behind by ROMS lol
it should not make a difference to go to stock to get a clean ROM install.
some ROMs though require a clean install, which usually means clearing some system folders like cach, delvik, etc.
here is an extract from CNA ROM Q&A post, should be helpful
----
Q: Isn't there a zip to fully clean the ROM, to get a real clean install?
A: Yes, there is. For a really nice clean Install use ROM-Wiper.zip- thanks to brainmaster (Attn: This is only for the Nexus S!!!)
1) flash ROM-Wiper.zip(Attn: This is only for the Nexus S!!!)
2) flash latest cna ROM (don’t reboot)
3) reboot phone (don’t flash another kernel before this first boot)
----
and here is the actual post for the links

you can always format your sd card as well to get rid of any leftover files/folders if you have no personal data to lose.
best of luck

Absolutely ...
For those that are testing roms, how do you back up your installed apps/data to load to the new rom and get up and running quickly? I have 80+ apps that I really hate to have to reinstall or have progress reset every time I try a new rom. I have TB but have seen mixed reviews here on its results. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. I have already read the threads how to backup existing setup in case something goes wrong.

Make a CWM backup. Install new ROM, then go to Backup and Restore, go to advanced restore, then select the backup you made, and select restore data. That will bring back all of your apps/setting and such.

Thank you. I thought cwm was only to put back to the way I started like a windows image file.

I apologize, I misunderstood your question......
I used CWM when I went from stock rooted 2.3.5 to stock rooted 2.3.6 to restore all my apps. I'd imagine there could be some issues if you used CWM in the same manner when going from stock rom to say RebelROM so for that I'd use MyBackup. I prefer it over TB any day. So use MB to make your backup of your apps (apk's and data) before flashing the new rom, flash the new rom and then once you get MB on your phone again use it to restore the apps, apk's first then data after all the apk's have been restored.
Sorry for the confusion
I use Rom Toolbox...it works quite well

I just tested a theory i had and it worked flawlessly. I just flash supercharged v5 and before i did i just wiped cache and dalvix and formatted system, i did not do a factory data reset. I then flashed the rom and everything went flawlessly. I still have all my apps and data from before the flash.

What are your flashing procedures? Are you wiping EVERYTHING multiple times and/or performing superwipe multiple times, depending on which recovery you are using?
im fairly certain im wiping everything multiple times.
im using this recovery
recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-speedy
So maybe im flashing wrong but i rooted the phone. downgraded to 2.2 to s-off. then flashed the radio, wipe wipe wipe. flash rom.
also tried wipe wipe wipe. flashed the radio then flashed the rom.
Hm, did you check the md5sum on the radio you flashed?

i did. when i upped the radio. i tried under 2.2 and my data was working fine. so i tried that then flashed the new rom then i lose data.
This happened to me when I switched my account to an Epic 4G I was working on; when I switched it back to the Evo Shift, I couldn't get data.
I can't say this will or won't help you, or that it's even the right way to go about things. I activated another phone we had lying around, through sprint.com. And then I reactivated the shift again and went through all the steps, put the ##code in etc., and when it rebooted, it was working. And it will still have whatever ROM you installed on it (duh). Sounds like a mess but it worked for me.
I think ## 786 # does a hard reset if I'm not mistaken. You could also try that first to avoid the hassle of what I did.

I was trying to ask for specifics of your wiping process, sorry. Now that you mention which recovery, make sure you go into the mounts & storage menu and 'format' pretty much everything but 'sdcard' multiple times each. I know alot of people take the term 'wipe' and assume we mean just the 'wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache' options that are displayed on the main menu, just want to make sure.
If you are already doing that then disregard.

I had am issue like this when I switched ROMs from Sense to AOSP at one point. Ended up having to nandroid back to Sense and update PRL and profile. Have you tried going back to a Sense ROM, updating those then reflashing the CM10 ROM?
