[Q] Soft Reset / Hard Reset - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

Anyone figure out how to Hard-Reset or Soft-Reset the phone?
the old DangerOS Sidekicks use a 3-key combo for a soft-reset and a pin-hole+power button combo for a hard reset (especially helpful on older phones without a removable battery)
Only way I can figure out how to un-stick a phone that has frozen up is to physically remove the battery.

Volume up+down and power at the same time

Power Button Doesn't Work

My power button does not work at all. It doesn't put the phone to sleep nor can it wake it up. Holding it down doesn't even give me an option to shut it down and presumably it can't turn the phone on either.
So basically I think I just wore the button down. Now in spite of that, is there a way to reflash a new ROM without being able to turn it on using the button? I mean, if I remember the procedure correction, you just have to turn it off to take the sim card out and to put it back in. Can I forgo this step?
I mean, I am just sliding out my keyboard to wake it up but I fear if my battery ever fully runs down.
Try to Hard reset your device..
To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
Yup, didn't work. Am I boned if my phone ever turns off? Jeez, and I just received that extra battery too.
Is there a way to remap the sleep button to the PTT key?
you dont have to pull out the stylus or have the device on to do a hard reset. just turn on the device and immediately hit volume down and center. once the screen lights up you can let go then wait for the reset message and press volume up.
anyways, if you have a att fuze, take it in, its under warrenty, theyll replace it. in any case you need it fixed. you cant live your live hoping your battery will never die. you cant turn it on or flash a new rom or anything without a working power button. if you dont have att im sure you can call htc and tell them you want it fixed and theyll mail you the supplies to get it shipped. just hope you can live without it for a couple days. its youre only options if you want it working.
I came back here all excited to post that it suddenly started working but it is back to the way it was.
The phone is really old so it's just of warranty and I don't think it is worth it to have it fixed when so many other problems are wrong with it. I guess it's time to be looking at new phones.
And now the power button is working. This phone just boggles the mind, people. I'm sure it'll stop working in a couple of hours though. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Maybe a short due to rain or something? Worn down contacts?
Same power button over here.
Sorry for reply on an old article but Google won't help me. I'm havin' the same problem. Na responds on the power button neither can i do a hard reset.
Anyone has a sollution. Phone is out of warranty ...
Is it a hadware problem of something with the software. Still has the (updated) stock rom. I've tried to reflash it with this latest rom but this didn't solved the problem.
Solved (for the time being..) The button seemed to be stuck. With my fingernail I managed to 'lift' it.

hard reset

I have a very tricky question:
Does anybody know how to perform a hardreset if your volume up/down keys don't work. I bricked my raphael with a backup and the volume keys where faulty for a long time. Now I hang at the blue starting screen and thats it
HELP
Not sure if you're comfortable with taking your raph apart, but sometimes if you press the key directly w/o the housing it works.
You can hardreset your device by the following:
start=> settings=>system=> clear storage

soft reset?

anyone figure out how to do a soft reset rather then powering the phone off then back on?
if you're talking about pressing an app and having it restart the phone, there's a couple in the market.
I use Quick Boot
Requires root, so I hope you're rooted.
Also, if you're just looking to restart the phone to speed things up, you might want to take a look at Fast Reboot instead.
actually i was just refering to a reset via phone. Like the galaxy s I you would hold down the volume buttons along with the power and it'll reset. Same with the iphone. Then menu button along with the power button. Something like that.
I'm slightly confused by what you mean.
On the galaxy s, it'll just turn on if you hold volume buttons and power. If you hold volume buttons, home, and power it'll do something.
But that's related to Hard Reseting the phone.
Are you talking about a hard reset instead?
ok...instead of reseting your phone by completly turning off your device you could just reset it by a combination of buttons. That's how you would do a soft reset as described above with the SG and iphone. It's just a simple way of resetting the phone rather then a full shut off.
ahh I see, so what you want is to do what the apps I mentioned above does only instead of pressing the app, you want to do a combination of key presses?
Well, just to help you out, I took my phone and tried out some combinations of common keypresses and found nothing.

[Q] How to do a hard reset on the Samsung Galaxy S 2 Skyrocket?

Does anyone know how to perform a HARD reset on Samsung Galaxy S 2 Skyrocket? I know how to do a soft reset, but need assistance with HARD reset.
I also know that it will probably require the pressing of volume up/down and power, etc. but just do not know the combination.
Any help will be appreciated.
Power off phone. Pull battery (not necessary but wth)
Put battery in
hold volume up and down at same time while pressing power button.
When phone vibrates release power button.
There should be an option in the recovery menu.
My understanding of a soft reset is simply power cycling the phone.
You can also hard reset in the phones menu
Menu.settings.privacy.factory reset

All these descriptions assumes your phone is turned off. (hold down power to power off device)
Holding down volume down when you power up the device should boot into a recovery menu, if not,
Try holding Down [Volume Down] + [Power ] until The Phone vibrates (This may take a little while, keep holding)
If it vibrates but still doesn't work, hold down until you feel it vibrate twice. (this will factory reset the phone, so you'll lose everything)
One last thing you can try is hold down volume down, power on the device and connect the charger. Keep holding volume down until you see an exclamation mark. Then press the following combination of buttons:
Volume up, volume down, power, volume down. This will also factory reset the device.
(this point may void warranty if not careful)
If you feel brave, you could look into using ADB to connect and launch the recovery menu if all else fails, but it can get a bit technical, and my advice is that you should have some experience with adv or flashing or similar. Google and read guides for it and decide for yourself, but remember, its better to wait for a repair on warranty than trying to fix it yourself at the risk of voiding warranty. (also, you usually get 3months warranty on the repair.
Hope this helps
