I live in Pittsburgh and just tested my speeds. 14.46 Down and 2.04 Up. I would say that is plenty fast.
This is on CM7.
it must be just in the mckeesport pa area, cause when i got home i turned off my wifi rebooted and 4g works great in the city on both froyo and gb roms, but at work in mckeesport 4g sucks.

I have been having issues with the 4g in Phoenix. Is anybody else having similar problems?
The market won't open. Dolphin can't connect. Mobile HotSpot can't connect. Just making sure it isn't just my phone...
Seems to be fine here. I was downtown earlier. And now in scottsdale. Had an issue with random reboot and visual voicemail but otherwise all good

I had it drop out on me a couple times yesterday (I'm around the I-17 and Peoria), VZW has acknowledged there are some issues with the network that they are working on.
Work in Tempe and live in E. Mesa and 4G is very sporadic for me.

My 4g has been horrible. The icon will show up but I can't access any data even after a reboot.

Issues here in San Diego last night. Maybe they are working their way eastward
What kind of speed are you guys getting? I am getting 6 to 7 down and 3 to 4 upload speeds on average when on 4G.

Mine has been a bit wonky today...full 4G, then nothing, then full 4G, then nothing, then 3G, then 4G, etc.
I just keep thinking Verizon is working on the network. I kind of expect it with 4G being so new. I'm just loving it...mostly. The dropouts do get annoying...mostly because they only seem to happen when I want data for some reason.
Nathan
Thanks guys. I have been flashing Rom after Rom trying to see if that was the problem. When the times are good, I have been getting up to 16mbps today, just keeps dropping for no reason. So I will keep my cool and hope this gets cleaned up soon!
I've been having an annoying problem lately. I'm running theory of ginger 4.2 and lately my 4G connection will just drop out and it won't reconnect for 5+ minutes. If I manually disable and reenable the connection it immediately grabs 4G back. It will stay steady for maybe 40 minutes and then drop out. This has happened on the MR2 and MR2.5 radios. Suggestions?

Mine does this routinely on a stock phone. Dunno if it's the network or the phone.
Dont know if this phone/network was ready for primetime
Mine just started doing this a few days ago.

So I flashed to CM7 on a froyo radio and I'm still having connection issues. How hard is it to get a replacement sim card? I think that might be the culprit honestly.

just call Verizon or go to a store.
Should I take cm7 off or just don't show them my phone.

i doubt it's the sim cards doing this... it's for sure the radio's. the mr1 radio on froyo drops my 3g to 1x alot, so did mr2 but mr2.5 was perfect for me. i just want a functional radio to ship this week.
It just started a few days ago, and a friend of mine with the thunderbolt isn't having the issues I'm having.

Mine started doing that last week while on Gingeritis final. I flashed all kinds of roms & radios (including Froyo) with no improvement. I even went to verizon & swapped sim cards, and still no better. I went back to bone stock and finally got reliable 4G again. Very frustrating
I've been having this issue for a couple of weeks at home but at work the LTE connection is rock solid. I think it's the network where I'm at. I went back to an old Froyo build and radio set and it was the same issue. I've tried every radio combo both GB and Froyo ROM's and it behaves the same way. At work no issue...at home I have to switch to wifi. It'll show LTE with bars (sometimes full 4...usually 3) and I will have activity on the up/down arrows and it'll work for a minute and then stop working until finally the LTE icon goes away and it goes to 1x (or even sometimes 3G and I'm in LTE mode.)
Its looking more and more like a network problem. Might as well save myself a trip to the Verizon store. Oh well, not that big of a deal I guess. Stand in line for 40 minutes for them to tell me they can't help.

Mine does this but I'm on the edge of the 4G signal where I live. I just lock in 3G and don't worry about it. When I get in an area I need to use some speed I turn 4G back on.
Anyone having DL speed issues in NYC today? Speeds were awesome this morning, 20mb dl and 6mb up. Now I can't get over 1 mb in dl but uploads are still good. I'm running the 402 radio and a co-worker is running stock and his speeds are effected as well.
If so, this would be my first LTE semi-outage. I'm new to Verizon and was wondering if these things are frequent.
Same in Boston, upload speeds are fine but can't get over 1Mbps down. I've heard they're supposedly working on the networks right now. I don't use 4G all the time, this is the first I've personally seen speeds be this slow.

I've been on 3g all day today in the Chicago area, I figured they were doing some kind of network tweaking, been having great battery life though!

Hmm, well atleast I'm not alone. On the phone with Verizon, they show no issues in their system. I'm rooted and my co-worker isn't, same speed issue though.

I'm in Chicago and 4g has been fine for me the entire day, 16 mbps down and 4mbps up right now. (jefferson park is my current location)
Seems to be the network as a whole here in NYC. Another co-worker has the droid incredible (Stock unrooted) on 3G he normally pulls 4-5mb and can't get over .40 currently. Glad to know I don't have to flash different radios, etc.

Been on the 3G network the last 3 days here in Atlanta. Today 1X only. Called Verizon they are currently experiencing issues in my area. Also said Please allow a couple of days to regain full speeds. I recently updated roms to BAMF 1.8 Remix. Had good 4G for a couple of days befor this so Im pretty sure its not the ROM.
I've been on campus all day using wifi, but I did notice that it kept showing 3G when I moved between repeaters. NJ right across the Hudson.

Hey guys I just recently got a samsung t959v as a replacement to my nexus one that got its screen cracked. So far I am loving the phone and had no problems with it. I recently updated it using the Kies mini software and updated the phone to 2.3.6. After updating, I rooted the phone using superoneclick and everything worked out perfectly. The only thing I have noticed is that my signal bars are now always empty. I have the 4G symbol on green, however the bars next to it have not turned green at all. I am signed in to google talk so I know it is not the grey/green signal issue. Before updating and rooting I always had FULL 4G signal here throughout my apartment and throughout the city. Anyone know what the problem could be? Everything seems to be working fine using the network however it is just a little annoying not knowing how strong the signal really is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I also installed setcpu and changed some of the settings, not sure if that has anything to do with this issue....
4g and"the bars" are two different signals. Cell it's used for calls when not connect to wifi and for SMS. 4g is your data: internet,g talk, market, and most everything else. if your not experiencing issues I wouldn't worry about it. Set ovum doesn't have anything to do with this but here we have found tegrak paid to be more stable for oc/uv.

that is a UI bug with the stock firmware.
Don't worry.
Flash AOSP style. It will remind you of the N1!
Leave your battery out for 10min and try again

hey there I/'m living in St. Kitts in the Caribbean.
LIME the network provider upgraded from EDGE to 4g on Friday, but I realise since then my phone is only showing H (3G) and not H+(4G).
i am wondering if this has anything to do with the rom i'm currently running (trickdroid) or not?
I was in the city centre friday night where they had the launch and pretty close to the cell tower so I know distance isn't the issue
Thanks for the help in advance
Most roms don't display the +. Its purely cosmetic. Only roms I know that display it are based on the inspire 3.20 version.
Again its purely cosmetic and does not effect speed. Heck the phone is only capable of 14mbs Max. I would say 3.5 g Max
Thanks for the response I was just wondering. Makes sense with what you are saying. And I just realise something I tried another Rom, it wasn't even loading so had to restor this on and realised that while booting up it went from E to 3G to H. But I don't think I'm getting even 2 mb from this will take a screen shot and post to you.thx again for the response.

Depending on what ROM you're using, I've found Speedtest to be somewhat unreliable for whatever reason. For example, I'm running Sabsa Prime 7.0. When I do a test on wifi, I get 15+mbps down and around 4mbps up with 30 ping. When I run it on 4g, I get 7kbps down and 2mbps up with 150 ping. Obviously my actual 4g speeds are not 7kbps. On ARHD with the same radio the test showed 6-8mbps down and 3.5mbps up with 70 ping.
In summary, unless you feel that your real use speed is really that slow, forget what Speedtest says.
Ok cool got you.
But I can tell it's really slow as well. I will try one of those other rims cause this one iy takes a while to switch to programs etc. And I don't have a lot running in the background. The only thing I've realise though is that I've not yet learned how to bring over my settings ( WiFi and apn etc even my contacts ) when going from one Rom.to the the next.

Actually...
If you edit your build.prop, faster speeds can be obtained.
Also H+ is 4G, but its not like LTE speeds or anywhere close. It is more like a couple mbs above 3G.
Speedtest is fine. Your data icon will sometimes lie to you. No joke. It'll say H+, but in reality it is 3G. All depends on your signal strength.
- hit my thanks button if i helped you -
Thanks, how do I edit my build?
I am not sure what's going on it is.very slow and I am wondering if the Rom is the problem wondering if I should go back to the original 4g Rom that came with the phone

You'll need an app like "Root Explorer". Through the app you navigate to "/system" and long press the "build.prop" and edit. You may encounter an error message with something like "file is in read-only" which then you will have to change the settings to "write only" or something like that to edit which can be done in the explorer app. Once you get that far you can edit the build.prop to your liking. For settings that people have found useful search the forums.
