if you want to look at it that way then sure. it fits the profiles being if you anylize the product line that profiles seems to include touch wiz and a label. but our hardware is different enough that there is no reason to expect it to work. it was specifically designed for the i9000 galaxy s, maybe i should have been more specific. we have a different radio. more ram, different screen, mhl, more camera res, a flash, differnt gps, and who knows what is differnt in how things talk to each other on the board. the infuse can use the gps and camera and talk on the phone at the same time, no i9000 or vibrant or captivate can do that.
though to be fair the infuse is more sgs than the sgs2mini and sgs+ and i9003 sgs and galaxy player which all have entirely different hardware profiles from the original i9000. some having super lcd screen, some with qualcomm chipsets, some with different audio hardware.
the infuse (i997) doesnt fit in with the galaxy s line (i9000) or the galaxy s 2 line (i9100). its its own screen size and processor fitting in most with the s2 but not really in the end.
What does any of this Galaxy talk have to do with apps that need root to function?
Am I missing something?

galaxy tuner, it is a app for the sgs phones (not all of them) that gives yuo a way to set many kernel and hardware features specific to that phone. it works on the infuse, and people are acting like it is obvious.
Pls keep it coming.. iPhone to android newbie needs help
Jefit if you workout a good bit. Exercise app with a between set timer. You can even DL animations for the movements.

SetCPU - controls the CPU clock
It'll allow you to set profiles (charging, screen off, battery temp, etc.) to customize frequencies, allowing you to potentially improve battery life.

I haven't heard that.....I don't think overclocking works (unless you have a kernal that allows it), but I was referring to using it to set minimums when the screen is off or capping the max when the battery is low. I installed it on my Infuse (rooted with the Infused rom) and it appeared to work fine.

Anyone here try setcpu on your Galaxy S 4G?
I'm sure there is some "new and improved software" reason to not need it, but I figured I would try it to see if I could improve battery life in some way.
I'm still tinkering with the settings, but I think I have noticed a slight improvement. If you try it, don't set your screen-off speed to any lower than 400mhz. If you do your phone will slow to an unimaginable crawl, sometimes only to be recovered from with a reboot/battery pull.
Sent from my rooted Galaxy S 4G
You can use it but until there are custom kernels that allow you to underclock or overclock its gonna be a lost cause imo. At this point its only good for changing governors and possibly screen off profiles and things like that

It already hauls once I removed bloatware, my system is pretty "bare bone" now, and it's FAASSSTTT.
That being said, one of the main reasons I upgraded to this phone from my modded HTC HD2 was the battery life was horrible on that phone (comparible to an evo 4g as per many side by side tests with a friend who had a new one).
Battery on this phone is GARBAGE, basically the SAME battery life, maybe only slightly better if at all....
I thought technology was supposed to be improving. I mean I abuse the phone, It's my sole entertainment while I'm at work (I work at a call center). I'm doing things on it 24/7.
But I figured it would perform better than a non-native android phone, modded to run android, that's two years old.. (htc hd2)

TegraK seems to work. It's an "on demand, on the fly" patch that isn't persistent.
I see improvements in benchmarks and reads/writes. So, it seems to work. Every time you reboot though, you have to reset it.

Droid Overclock is an app I ran across on the Market today with all sorts of nice features.
It may have been out for awile, I just didnt see it.
It costs $1.50. Very Nice App
Looks like it does alot more then setcpu
Oh yeah, I bought this app when I had my d2. Wasn't sure if it supported the incredible though and I just use the built in overclocking in CM.
Its a sweet app though and jrummy did a nice job with the interface.

Actually (What effects screen brightness and OC CPU have on battery) speeding up your cpu doesn't effect that battery as much as you think its very minimal. So overclock all you want
Does it harm your phone in any way?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
This actually looks a lot better than SetCPU. I like it.
If you overclock too high, to a incompatible setting, the phone will just go into a loop mode. The setting won't be stable.. it errors itself and can't correct it. So you need to scale it back down. Sorry if I don't know all the terms and such.. dinc's are fast just to begin with. I oc'd so I could try and get better benchmark scores. It worked and the phone was stable to where i could use it all the time problem free. I managed to get scores I could be.. once that happened I stopped clocking up, and started scaling back. Undervolting the system with a different kernel / governer setting will yield you the best battery life..

Hi There!
I got my wife one of these to replace her Motorola Defy.. She has a few questions I couldn't really answer...
1) She seems to be having problems with signal and therefore internet connectivity. All our other 6 devices wireless fine. It's running 4.04 Android Custom ROM. I read recently 4.04 users were reporting issues with the signal strength and wondering if I should change back to 4.03?
2) She says whites are not really white and when I compare to the Defy it would appear she is right.
3) She says the text doesn't look as sharp or crisp and again I am inclined to agree. I am not sure if this is a Pixel Density issue or a setting we can change.
4) Battery life is shocking. I'd say she is lucky to get 8 hours if she talks on the phone for perhaps 45 minutes a day. I am interested to know what a reasonable baseline expectation is.. Right now she is barely touching it.
Thanks for any assistance.
Hi,
I have been using ICS 4.0.4 as soon as it officially came out and I haven't had any issues with connection (let alone hear of any issues for that matter.)
Whites are definitely not as white as they are supposed to and thankfully there is a software modification called: Voodoo Control while allows you to adjust the gamma settings to change the saturation and tone of colours.
Regarding the sharpness, changing the gamma settings may help in this department unless you'd like to change the pixel density via rooting/flashing custom ROMs.
To be honest, when I first owned this device I would disgusted from the battery life I was achieving. 8-10 hours per day. However, I am able to last about 20-30 now after a few modifications. In 4.0 you can view which apps are consuming the most battery:
System settings > Battery
Battery saving tips:
- Turn down the brightness 10-25% (Also turn off auto brightness if you can live with changing the brightness manually)
- Turn off data when not in use (switch to 2G if possible)
- Turn off auto-sync (or sync less frequently)
- Turn off GPS when not in use
- Turn off the screen manually before putting it in your pocket
- Turn off autorotation
Screen brightness is the biggest culprit so I'd turn that down to a comfortable level.
Basically, the more features you turn off that makes your smart phone "smart" the longer the battery will last.

Can you recommend one?
Matr1x kernel has been around for a long time and is the most feature packed kernel. It also has been tested to save the most battery life compared to other kernels through built-in undervolt.

Is Matrix Kernel voodoo compatible
Yes, it's compatible. AirKernel is another option. There are a few on the DEV section you might want to check. ROMs, I would say: Bugless Beast, MIUIXperience, CyberGR, Brainmaster ROMs, AOSP+ and AOKPBlue 1.1

Where can I get this Voodoo Control? I only see a Sound Control App?
I answered your question in another thread. The color and sound controls are in the same application. If the kernel doesn't support it, it won't show up in the options. The name of the app was changed a while back.

Why don't you just root it?
I rooted mine the first boot...
There is an app that resets the flash counter and you don't lose warranty!
After you root it search supercharger script and get it running mate...
Your S3 WILL fly after that!

Thats right bro' if you use Zeppelinrox v6 supercharger you will amaze on how fast will become your phone. For instance, you can set wich apps will stay open (like phone, sms, media and so on) so when want to use it it will open always fast, instantly! And that apply to your homescreen launcher too!

I've been trying to get my S3 to overclock to 1809mhz but it seems that I can't get it past 1350. I've tried multiple kernels and overclocking apps but nothing that I try gets it to go past 1350mhz. At the moment I have LeanKernel v1.0 with Galaxy Mod rls8 and I've seen people with this rom/kernel combination overclocking no problems. In SetCPU the bar goes as high as 1900mhz but no matter how high I set it as, the max CPU only goes as high as 1350. I double checked my speed with CPU Spy and it confirms that I'm at 1350 max. Any ideas? Something I'm missing?
