Okay, before i started rooting and putting roms on my phone. it turned off pretty quick. Now that ive rooted and put the Heinz 57 rom on it, it turns off slow. not the graphics slow but the lights stay on forever then finally turn off 10-20 seconds later. is there something wrong that i dont know about?
Mine does the same. Don't know if its a issue or not as I have mostly just ignored it.
Tap-a-Talked
Mine does the same thing, takes 10-15 second to turn off after samsung logo disappears.

That is an issue I noticed with certain kernels (last night I finally got to root and flash my girl's phone, tried using the Peanutbutta jelly time kernel and had this issue with the stock rom, went to jt's TW kernel and no issues.) It's a small flaw in using fascinate firmware, there is a slight difference somewhere that is causing it (you'll also sometimes see some odd things happen with power options)
Yea I get both issues, the lights and the power options being spotty, clicking reboot and it tries and gets back to the samsung logo and shuts off, I mean it always comes right back on, and sometimes they work great, like recovery and download options I rarely have trouble with but the reboot is spotty at best. I always figured it was cause I flash and try almost everything.

Yesterday while toggling airplane mode I got a reboot. First yet and it was on gingerbread..i just had another one while accident pressing power for too long..
the phone reboots just holding power even if the screen is off. Maybe just maybe this button is getting pressed for too long I their pockets or just pressing power to toggle airplane mode and its rebooting. Or maybe something with this function bugging out...
Anyone else notice phone reboots just holding power for too long?
Edit:Im almost positive this is what caused my reboots
My phone was on the charger last night only for me wake up and it was off. Full battery when I powered it on.
Doubt its being turned off my accident.

As I said, some people.. Maybe some is legit but others are this issue..
Or like I said, something related to that. Maybe bugging out or something.. Just seems weird that holding power causes a reboot.
A lot of my reboots were spontaneous when I wasn't even touching the phone. Also when it was charging overnight.

Maybe somehow the phone off has a bug thinking the power button is being held in or just that function bugging out when the phone is off...
Dont know just a thought.but I'm positive this rebooted mine.
Definitively not by accident!! And the damn thing reboots by itself every 5mn for a few times while I was watching it doing that while plugged in, then turns off by itself in the middle oh the night, I'm getting another one, and another one until I get a working one with no light bleed. I'll receive my 3rd one in a few days.

Mine just did it again. I didn't have the problem on the stock rom, CM7, EaglesBlood or any other rom aside from the unofficial Gingerbread leak.
The rom itself it very nice considering CM7 has weird issues of its own, but resetting/locking up is a big no-no.
As I said earlier my phone was off this morning after flashing the leaked rom last night. I wiped several times this morning, flashed Eaglesblood, wiped again, and again, flashed the leaked Gingerbread, wiped and wiped again.
Set the phone up but didn't install any apps (testing). Cooked breakfast; fine, watched a TV show; fine, took a shower; fine, got dressed; fine, stepped outside for a second; locked up.
The phone was on because when I pressed the power button the touch panel lit up. The lockscreen showed for a second then went out. Then it was unresponsive. I held the power button down for a few seconds, which turned the phone off, then held it again to turn it back on.
Sucks. Must be the rom. Weird why the stock didn't do it, nor others. Others are claiming theirs are fine.
It is SO weird how these problems aren't across the board and are so random. Everything points to a kernel which wasn't included in the lacked build. Hopefully when the official one comes out, we'll get an updated kernel to go with it.
I think it's the overheating problem. My first phone was very hot and had 3 reboots in 5 days. New one I have has no reboot yet and doesn't get as hot like the other one. PCs get BSOD or freezing when overheating. G2X gets Black Screen of Death and freezing.

This could very well be. especially since a lot of people have reboots when charging and that generally makes the phones temp higher...
Luckily I'm good...
If I had the rebooting problem, I would definitely exchange my device. I haven't had any reboots or freezes though.

U could be right but my phone shuts down a few times right after charging. But then for the rest of the night it won't shut down anymore. Sometimes it shuts down in the middle of the night too, it's very randomly. How do u explain that?

I would too. That **** would annoy me...
I'm starting to keep a log every time my g2x locks up where I write down the date, time and what I was doing when it happened to get an idea of what could be causing it to happen and to get an idea of how often it happens.
If you want to do this as well, please post which rom you are using and which firmware.
So far, I've logged this once when I was opening a site in the android browser.
Using Cyanogenmod 7 with Gingerbread 2.3.4
About to get on star tours, pulled it out of my pocket to check mousewait.
lockedup
I have had re boots every now and then.
Freezes and screen locks just seemed to start last week, and now today, my phone seems to shut off the screen 30 seconds after boot.
The touch buttons work fine as well as the sound and vibrate. When I hold down the off button I feel it vibrate as it does when the menu pops up, but the screen does not show.
I'm kind of clueless what changed to make this happen.
bionix..
Listening to Pandora for around 30min. Turned on the screen to check battery level. Was getting low. Plugged it into the wall charger. Phone rebooted. Had headphones plugged in.
Turned off screen. Waited a minute. Usually worked.
G2x with faux AOSP and faux orange kernel. [email protected] 5107 quadrant.
I've been consistently logging what I was doing when the phone locks up (which is no more than once per day) and it seems that my G2X has always locked up while browsing in the android browser except for 1 instance where it locked up in the Firefox app.
Has anyone else noticed this as well ? I am keeping up with the latest builds of CyanogenMod hoping that these bugs will get worked out.
On the bright side, the problem where the audio doesn't work until you reboot the phone seems to have gone away. I guess that it's been fixed in the latest builds.

Glad I'm not the only one...
I just put the phone back in the box I bought it in.
I stopped using custom ROMS when streaming radios just lagged or skipped. Now granted, at least in Stock ROM, the radio stream lag and skips stopped. It pisses me of that Slacker Radio will not work on G2x. I tried almost ever ROM. I think its the phone or the silly app. The crashes/freeze, especially on stock android browser was the last straw for me.
I had it and locked it up until the LG updates the device.
On myTouch 4g until then.
I was texting and this POS just decided to lock up.
I went to unlock the screen and this POS locked up.
I was scrolling through apps and this POS decided to lock up.
Sorry for the agression but im borederline done with this phone, 3rd shipped one.
sleeping. or sitting at my desk not using the phone. I don't think I've had it lock/reboot more than once when I was actually doing something, but lately it's rebooting every night when I'm fast asleep (phone isn't plugged in) and sometimes during the day in my pocket.

Finally someone who is in the same boat as me. I'm trying all kinds of different things to pinpoint the cause because it's very obvious that it's related to some software that's time based - runs at specific intervals. I get either freezes in standby or reboots almost every night in the middle of the night - like 3-4AM or so. HOWEVER, I use the crap out of the phone during the day (every feature, kill it all) and it hangs tough and runs great. So it's not hardware for sure. Will post if I find anything.
I was dropping a deuce when it locked up.

Unlocking the screen, charging off of AC or USB, texting, browsing, doing nothing sitting on my desk or in my pocket... umm... let's see... just about ANYTHING at any given time. Let's not forget the random reboots that happen multiple times a day and sometimes goes for 2 or 3 days without doing it. Battery pulls becoming more frequent then with my old BB. Getting to be ridiculous.
Let me not forget I have tried every damned kernel/ROM combo out there. Stock rooted, etc... on my third phone and they have all experienced the same problems. Different batteries as well both factory stock and aftermarket. At this point I am just waiting for LG to do something. If not when the SGS II comes out I will just get that and demand a refund from T-Mobile for selling me this wonderful brick of a phone.
Mine always locks up when in browser visiting xda forums. The progress bar hits 50% and everything freezes. I have to press power several times before it gets back to normal.
Guys,
Are you guys using CyanogenMod ? This was happening to me a lot on the stock ROM but since I upgraded to CyanogenMod, I've been having maybe 1 lock up per day but sometimes less then that. I'd really recommend trying it out if you aren't using it already.
My dog fell asleep on it and it must have overheated. I pulled the battery and it wouldn't boot past the CM7 lg boot screen. Luckily I had a nandroid of dark sinister 1.1. Bet it kept the pooch warm though.

This is the second time I found my phone unresponsive after putting it on charge. The first time the lights were lit on the buttons but the screen wouldn't turn on, second time the phone wouldn't work.(buttons weren't lit the 2nd time) But I did a battery pull both times and the phone was working and had a full charge. I was running CM7 stable but I flashed to the stock rom. Does anyone have an idea of what was wrong and if I could have the same problem with the stock rom?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I've had that problem running CM7 too. Some Roms or Kernels were better than others, but most of the time when it crashed it would light the four buttons and be unresponsive. A battery pull would fix it, or upgrading to a more stable rom. Or maybe it was the kernel?
I might not be exactly sure, i took the phone back to stock and unrooted, and when i went to turn on the screen, the phone was fine. I would rather not be stock? But if my phone is going to have a problem then i'll have to do it, unless I do some tests or something.
So today I woke up and tried to turn on my phone after a good night's charging. I held onto the power button for at least 5 minutes and nothing. I did it again and the phone displayed the boot image for like five seconds and then turned off again. As I am typing this my phone's power button has been taped for about an hour (couldn't find an answer that worked online).
My phone is the G2x. I didn't think that I needed to post it in the G2x forums because I thought the phone model was kind of irrelevant. My phone is rooted and I was running the HellFire Phoenix rom, a CM7 based rom. I had the ICE9 theme on before it was broken, though I don't think thats the problem because its just a theme. I have also flashed a custom kernel called Trinity Kernel. I also used the SetCPU app to UV/OC my phone. At the time, my phone was clocked at like 800 mHz and 216 when the screen was off. 216 seems a little low but on all the other roms I've had (more demanding roms that CM7) I never had any problems.
Can somebody PLEASE help me. Hopefully I didn't brick my phone, though I don't know how I could have. I was always safe when flashing and never did anything "wrong" like flashing something for another phone.
Oh and this is my first post.
Try to re flash a fresh firmware..

I've had my TF300 for a few months now. It's been unlocked since day one, and is currently running CM10 stable (probably going to try a 10.1 Nightly today). Recently it has been randomly shutting down. No warning or anything, I'll just be watching a video or browsing the web and boom, it's off. Screen is black and everything.
This wouldn't be THAT bad but it doesn't automatically reboot, and it's very difficult to get it to boot back up. I've tried holding the power button for over a full minute, every combination of vol+ and power and vol- and power, and most of the time (not every time), nothing seems to do the trick but sticking it on the charger for a while and leaving it alone. Then I'll just hit the power button like normal and it will fire right up. It's done this 3 times now.
So what do you guys think? Hardware or software issue? And despite being unlocked, do you think ASUS would warranty it if I restored the factory image, if it is a hardware issue?
Have you got it overlocked? If so, try turning the tablet down. Watching videos may be too much for the tablet if it's overclocked. Another way to see if it's software or hardware is to switch ROMs and see if it still does it. If so then it very well may be hardware related.
As for the the warranty, from what I understand, Asus will still cover hardware issues even if it's unlocked. I do not know from personal experience, only from what I've read here from other members.

Not overclocked, it was a thought that occurred to me, too, but it's just running the included CM kernel at the stock speeds. I'll give CM10.1 a try tonight and see if that resolves it. Thanks for the advice.
So I think I figured it out. This thing is straight up not reporting battery stats. I let it fully charge last night, and now after unplugging its been at 100% for about an hour of straight use and two (normal) reboots. Tried deleting batterystats.bin but it made no difference. I'm going to run it down and see what happens...
Still no go. It was totally fine until the battery hit about 45%, then shut off and was unresponsive. When I plugged it back in, the light blinked for a few minutes, then I was able to power it up like normal. Has the battery gone bad?
Try Installing STOCK ROM
I have the similar issues with CM10. But it doesn't happen when I am using it(playing games, surfing internet or watching movies).
It happens only when the tab is not being used for more than 2-3 hours. Pressing Power button doesn't do anything and I have to press the power button for at least 1 minutes to get it rebooted.
I installed Stock 10.4.2.18 rooted(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033205) and I don't see that issue anymore.
Now I am trying CleanROM Inheritance 3.0.4(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049322) to see how it goes as it is based on the Stock ROM.
Same exact happened to me yesterday...i was scared for a min or two...it finally booted back and been fine since...im on cleanrom unlocked and rooted no overclock

I have the same problem, and my non-scientific observation leads me to suspect it was worse on the stock ROM. Also, I have this problem where wifi will not work (upon waking the tablet, it says wifi is off, though I had not turned it off), and I have to reboot it in order to get wifi to connect. I don't know if the issues are related.
