Odin Stock Restore Stuck at Partition - Samsung Infuse 4G

So it seems like the first time stuck so it restarted, now it's stuck at partition. I selected the PIT and the PDA stock file, but it's just sitting there ... I'm on the phone + PC logo.
Am I totally screwed? What to do?

What pit did you select?

It gets stuck at "Setup Connection.."

im gonna go out on a limb here and say use h8rifts stock rom with the 512pit found in the i9000 and captivate sections. h8's rom is missing the param.ifs though, not sure if you will need that.

So I've been able to use the 512 pit and get it to get back to the "Downloading... Do not turn off Target". ... but then when I go back in and try to flash the stock Rooted ROM I get the "Initialization..." then it just stops there... ideas?

not sure. let it sit for a while. h8rift or somebody said it took his like 20 minutes(if i remember right) which seems weird. also you should be logged in windows as admin and the usb plugged into a port that connects to the mother board not a expansion card or hub.
honestly though i have only used heimdall on the infuse. and never repartitioned because heimdall requires bootloaders for repartition. im not sure i trust lost1's bootloaders and if there is an issue with them there are no others to use.
it might be a driver issue. maybe samsung needs some updated drivers for the infuse.
also are you sure you have your .net framework up to date on windows? i cant think of everything odin depends on but i think having .netframework4 helps with some things on the phone, cant remember ifodin depends on it though

So I've been able to get it to say FACTORYFS now. I decided to just try the NON-rooted stock file to see if maybe it'll work. Right now it says Firmware update Start.... and there's a tiny green line flashing, but it's just been sitting there for 5 mins alrady.... just let it sit?

cant hurt to leave it there a little longer. the captivate never took that long but we also had a true factory flash oneclick odin that they use to reset refurbished phones. no such luck on the infuse unless someone wants to see if designgears has some sort of connection at samsung who can get it like he somehow was able to get it for the captivate. the significance of odin oneclick is that is has all the files. param.ifs, boot.bin, sbl.bin, and all the first boot scripts. our stock roms have come from rom dumps. the captivate stock roms came from samsung.
i would leave it for a good 20 minutes. then try something else. you may need to try files from lost1's stock rom you can use 7zip to manipulate the .tar files and magic ISO to manipulate the .rfs files within the .tar files, but atleast one ofthe files from lost1 doesnt work. if i had 2 infuses id experiment with you to be able to post what works and what doesnt. with only one phone im hesitant to try anything that is not tested

I'm using H8rift's restore... and both of the two (rooted and non) have the same issue for me.
It just sits... I've used the rooted and non-rooted.... ugh.
It goes to firmware update start then has a little greenness in the progress bar on the computer, and a little blueness in the progress bar on the phone, but I let it sit for 30 minutes and it never progresses any further, so there's something going on.
I've tried other usb ports, updated drivers, every method of compatibility and admin mode, even reinstalled windows basic version, haha.... ugh, this is hopeless.
I think it's time to chalk this up to a very very expensive lesson learned and go out and buy a replacement... not happy about that :-(

Why did you use a .pit? Did I not state in the OP of the Odin thread not to use one? take out the .pit, uncheck re-partition and flash the package as it was originally attended. you will NEVER need to re-partition your phone until we actually start CHANGING your partitions sizes (i.e. CM7, MIUI, possibly Samsung's gingerbread, etc.)

[Q] So confused...

I have completely screwed my phone. I have rooted and ROM'ed at least 5 Android phones in the past.
This one is simply ridiculous.
I have used ODIN and had no problems. Now when I flashed my rom through CWM it just flashes a Samsung screen.
I have redone everything 10 times I am doing everything correctly.
I have tried different ROMs different kernels, same thing every time.
I am lost, and need help PLEASE!
Did you flash a pit file? Repartitioning usually does the trick.

Now that I've wiped my phone, how do I disable the voodoo lagfix without being able to do anything on the phone so I can install a ROM? This doesn't make sense to me.

No, you just do not know what your doing, simple as that. Tons of people here and elsewhere have no problems. You haven't listed what roms and kernels you are trying. My guess is either using froyo rom with GB kernel or not using odin right, it's pretty easy to use but also easy to get wrong, I suggest actually taking some time to learn what to do and what everything is. It's evident you are very impatient by your constant posts in this thread and their content which implies you didn't take the proper time to research what you are doing and how it all works. With some actual useful information like rom and kernel we could probably help
I've been researching this phone and the tools for a week now, and started this process at 1PM, so no im not impatient.
This phone is a piece. It was bad when it came out and it still is crap. I've rooted, Rom'ed and modded every Android phone I've ever had with no issue. Different carriers, different manufacturer's. Never had an issue.
Now, thanks for the lecture Dad, if you have any insight as to why my phone will not boot up after flashing the pit file it would be much appreciated, if not, troll somewheres else.
Thanks!

Are you making sure that you are using the PDA option in Odin instead of phone?
Are you using the PIT option with the right boxes checked/unchecked?
Give us a little more insight on what you have done and what you are trying to do and we will do our best to help you out.

If I'm not mistaken when you use a pit file you have to Odin a new rom right after. It wipes everything off the partitions.but I've only used a pit one time so may be wrong . The first few times I flashed this phone I had problems but eventually I caught everything that usually causes a problem. And I was just like you, had been flashing evo, incredible and hero for a long time with no problem. But Samsung gave me a headache. But i was stuck in a bootloop and nothing would flash. I ran the pit then flashed a new tar file and she booted up fine

Well since u partitioned with the pit. Ur phone is sitting there with nothing on it. No rom, no kernel, recovery etc. So i know humble 5 wont work cuz it doesn't include a kernel. Humble 4 will however work. It includes a kernel and a recovery .have u did everything in the "Hoe to fix your phone "thread on top of development section?

I've had problems at times getting my phone into download mode. Just gonna toss some stuff out there as I'm sure there are people that know more than me. Is there anyway you can have a charged or extra battery charged? I would hmm uninstall the samsung drivers etc..or atleast re install so your phone is recognized when you plug it in the usb. So you can get your phone into download mode and Odin doesnt see it? Have you followed the directions in the stickys on the Dev page to a T? Im sure you have tried all usb ports, different cable, hell different computer. If you still can't get it back up as many have posted they haven't seen to many totally bricked phones I would love to have something to just play around with. If you dont have insurance and cant get it exchanged let me know. Pretty sure though more people will chime in and get things working though.

bootloaders! aka fix the rainbow garbage on awesome rom leaks

ok i see since it has been so long since all the rogers development started people dont really remember about all the rainbow problems and how they were fixed and how the fix needs source code.
we now have bootloaders available in leaks from samsung. they are needed with the stock kernels that come in the leaks to avoid rainbow garbage. i am providing the bootloaders to be flashed in heimdall without having to flash a whole rom.
i would like to make this explicitly clear that if this bricks your phone i am not to blame. there is a significant risk when flashing bootloaders! though the infuse seems to have safety measures i strongly recommend only flashing once. and if your phone becomes a brick you will need to solder things to the phone to fix it via j-tag or adam outlers unbrickable mod. be cautious! dont flash boot.bin without sbl.bin, dont flash sbl.bin without boot.bin, dont mix up the partitions, and if the phone bricks i dont want to know about it unless you want to pay me to fix it!
heimdall package
http://www.multiupload.com/GXUTF4QCJX
odin package (untested)
http://www.multiupload.com.... REMOVED May be failing to flash. very dangerous situation...
bootloaders for heimdall to be added through the "flash" tab (unzip first! ibl/pbl-boot.bin, sbl-sbl.bin)

good luck!

do you know if there its any difference in bootloaders amongst different gingerbread leaks?
I have been running the first leaked gingerbread's bootloaders since Prezkit gave them to us and have had zero issues. I think it was kk1? I've been taking an "if it ain't broke" stance. its going good!

there is difs. but I couldn't tell you what. I saw posts by Linux bozo who did binary diferencials but I don't see any difference.
I know the bootloaders have a counter for customer kernels. if you flash the parameters.ifs from the ultimate unbrick it resets it. I also know they changed the galaxy s 2 bootloaders so it was harder to reset the counter so don't expect to be able to reset it when the official update comes along. I also have been using the "if it ain't broke " theory and honestly don't remember which I am using. the packages here are uckk3. if people can test if the counter can still be reset by flashing param.ifs let me know. ill post older bootloaders if it can't otherwise I can't think of any reason to pick one over another.
If i am flashing the bootloaders via odin does the .tar file go in the pda slot. thank you for this.

yes. that's how I would do it. the PDA slot seems to be automatic as far as partition sorting. the phone slot is for modems but if a modem is included in a package for the PDA slot it flashes just fine. the bootloaders are in the PDA packages normally so that's how I would do it.
please report results because I don't run windows and did not test that package.
I will report back once i get around to flashing the bootloaders. Thanks again for this.

don't select repartition, no need for a pit, the rom shouldn't matter, the file should go in the PDA slot. remember I haven't tested it in Odin. I don't run windows and have little interest in using Odin for anything. phone needs to be in download mode just like flahong a rom. it should only take a second or two to flash. good luck
Cool i should be able to figure this out. Thanks for the quick response.
It didn't work. I had auto restart, f.reset and the PDA slot checked after i opened the file in the PDA slot and after clicking start it just sat at setup for 45 min until i gave up and flashed back to stock. I had to pull the cord while in download mode and the screen turned black with green dots so i had to flash blindly. I tried it twice and the same thing. Has anyone else tried this?

I have a bunch of downloads but nobody reported anything at all till now.
ill pull the Odin version for now. try it in heimdall. its not any harder to use.
Can you post an odin package.
I had an Odin package. I got a few downloads, didn't get any people thanking for it, didn't get any positive feedback that it worked and had one user report problems, see the last couple posts. I pulled the file for lack of evidence that it worked. I don't run windows and prefer heimdall so I haven't tested it in Odin. sorry but I suggest you either flash an entire rom leak then flash a non secure kernel through Odin ( any custom kernel should do also flashing back to stock should also do just fine) and then flash a rom or learn heimdall which works on windows as well as Mac and Linux. I would have done a oneclick package but it still requires the installation of the heimdall back end and I figured it was really no harder to just use the heimdall package system.
any chance of relink thats not at multiupload?
edit: disregard, found a workaround. might be useful in future tho.

[Q] Stuck in CWM, Mac user, please help?

THIS IS A SUCCESS STORY SO IF YOU STUMBLED HERE READ IT OVER...WORKED FOR ME ON MY MAC!!!
OK, I've been reading threads all afternoon/evening and can't find anything that solves my situation.
I'm stuck booting into CWM no matter what I do at this point.
How I got here:
Started unadulterated stock ROM.
Ran AdamOutler's Heimdall One-Click Defuse 1.5 kernel to get root/CWM (Mac user).
Installed Superuser, Tibu, etc...
Flashed Zues 5.1 and Aries.
Enjoyed devine bliss for a few days until enticed by Zues 5.2
Ran AdamOutler's Heimdall back to stock.
Wouldn't boot so flashed again with boot loaders (per instructions).
Flash failed, couldn't get anywhere but download.
Flashed Defused 1.5 kernel again an got CWM back.
Went in circles for a while.
Present situation:
Can only boot to download and CWM.
Can't restore from CWM (did back up previous to problems but won't work).
Flash from CWM seems to work until reboot, then I'm just back in CWM.
Heimdall flashes appear to work until reboot (pretty much like CWM depending on what I flash).
Heimdall flashes with bootloaders just continue to fail part way through.
Is there anyone that can help me out of this?
Again...I have a Mac and no PC.
I would truly appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Perhaps somebody here knows something about Heimdall flashing fine the first time but failing to flash with bootloaders?
Anybody ever experience this on a Mac or a PC?
i would use gtgs to get back to stock ..

where are you getting stuck when you try adams?
remember to try a different usb cable even if you think you cable is problem free..also try different usb port, i do not have a mac but i dont see why mac users would be excluded from these issues..
did you try to redownload the uckj4 package ? is there space on the hard drive?
try to install the heimdall frontend and extract the unbrick .tar.md5 file and load the files into the heimdall flash tab...
add bootloaders from my bootloaders thread. that is if the links still work... and if it all fails try a new cable and then try with repartition selected.

Thanks for the reply. First flash (without BLs) seems to go fine but can't boot (sort of). Second flash (with BLs) won't even finish. The error has something to do with the PIT. More details if you like later (at work now). I have sucessfully flash with this port and cable but I guess I'll give it a go switching them up.

I have tried that one and AdamOutlers one that you can get to from the Super Thread also. Both fail on the bootloaders.
edit-
The gtgs I tried was in a package so I didn't really try it on its own.
AdamOutler's One-Click is obviouslly part of a complete package as well.
Gtgs fail at PIT (I think) but anyway failed overall for sure.

gtgbacktostockheimdall/infuse.pit is in the PIT box.

Alright here I go!
Heimdall Frontend is open.
gtgbacktostockheimdall is extracted.
gtgbacktostockheimdall/infuse.pit is in the PIT box.
Repartition is not checked for this try.
I have bootloaders from dani's thread: boot.bin and Sbl.bin
Got those entered.

Yeah that all sounds right. Yes, I think it's PIT that reformats all of your partitions.. not positive though.
PS.. next time.. buy a PC.
Holding off for the moment.
I have a few left over pieces that don't seem to match up quite right.
In the extracted heimdall package I have zlmage and zlmage-1
In the Heimdall Flash tab I have Kernel, Recovery, EFS, and SBL2
My searching suggests that zlmage goes with Kernel.
My intuition tels me that zlmage-1 must be Recovery.
Think I'll just set those up that way.
That leaves EFS and SBL2...
Is it OK to leave those blank?
I've double checked all the other pairings.
Feel like a kid jumping off the cliff into the lake for the first time.
Please, some one who knows what they're doing...push me.
(Or just say, "All sounds good to me, DO IT MAN!!!)
(Or scream, "STOP!!! You don't have the SBL2?!! Are you nuts? Go and find it.)

Right on about the PC.
I had no working computer until I inherited this one from my step mom.

(Or say, dude, you really need to find that EFS file and get it in there).
Searching turns up no results for zlmage-1
Don't want to proceed until I know for sure that I've got this stuff right.
Perhaps I shouldn't be flashing the recovery partition.
Then again, I seem to remember that CWM kept telling me that recovery couln't be mounted. Probably I do need to flash something over it.
But I've heard all about the dangers of flashing the wrong thing to the wrong place.
Dude just do it. Yes i am meaning to yell at you. Seriously... It's sooooooooooo damn hard to brick this thing! It has the unbrickable mod...
Edit: Boo.. I typed that all in caps.
OMG all that agonizing before I clicked start.
All it did was immediately say "flash completed sucessfully!"
But it didn't do a damn thing!!!
I got heimdall to work before.
Guess I try closing it and setting things back up again.

[Q] Download mode but unable to unbrick

Just what everyone wants.... another thread about a bricked phone.
I have no idea what happened to my phone.... I have been running Valhalla Final for a week now with no issues to speak of and lost all my ringer tones after a failed attempt to put sound on a boot-loader using Absolute System. I rebooted into recovery and tried to restore my nandroid which failed when it said unable to unmount system. when I rebooted it had fc in android.core multiple times so I rebooted again and after it loaded had no control. did a battery pull and then would not go past the power up screen. downloaded heimdall one click file T959V-UVKJ6-One-Click.jar and put it into download mode. flashed and it went fine until factoryfs failed. now still in download but img is pic of phone to computer. last 2 attempt was
SMS-KJ6-beta2d_Stock-Rom_with_Bootloaders-One-Click.jar and it failed first at loading the modem and then at loading recovery.
I am lost. seems like everything I try makes it little worse. Have not tried ODIN yet.
Is there any hope or am I out a phone?
Give Odin a try. Last time I used Odin it froze so I pulled the plug, and when I put my phone back in download it showed that same screen, yet Odin still went through.
So no, that screen doesn't mean you're out a phone.

Grab chadster's KG4 here. I believe it has ODIN 1.85 included in the file. Don't mess with any of the check boxes in ODIN; let ODIN decide what to check.
After that, you should be able to get back to KJ6 via a one-click.
Shady grab Ravers stock GB and honks GB odin kernel. Flash Ravers, If you can, then honks. That will give you stock plus cwm. You know where to go from there. Funny thing is just yesterday FB had a post about leaving BOOTLOADERS alone w/o unbrickable mod. Good luck.
Downloading now from sendspace.com
I'm hoping this works...

shady
Are you going with the chadsters leak or ravers stock?
I don't know why you guys keep recommending old (leaked) ROMs to debrick with.
@Shady if you see anything posted by myself, dsexton, bhundven or raverx3x you can bet that we've tested it extensively and that it'll work on your phone.
On that note I recommend you read the whole page here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
Download from the SMS KJ6 (beta2d) Kernel Stock Rom with Bootloaders link. This will get you a one click flash solution that you can go back to when you have problems. This, unlike the KG4 file others have been recommending, is the latest version of gingerbread (KJ6 is 2.3.6) and you'll have a custom kernel + root to boot so you can get flashing other gingerbread ROMs. I hope you don't have trouble flashing, and if you do, read the OP to what I linked you to. All the instructions are there.
I know this file has been failing for you but you can try restarting your computer and flashing it from safe mode. When your computer is booting up, keep pressing F8 until you get a menu. Pick "Safe mode with networking" from the menu using your arrow keys and press enter.
sorry too many tabs open

Only because he was failing with one-clicks and wanted to use ODIN. That one (KG4) has always worked for me, so I was basing it off of experience. Never claimed it was optimal

That's what I'm saying. I don't use heimdell(because my computer hates it for some reason). So ravers stock GB and honks kernel to get cwm works well to set me back up.

oh after they say to flash the bhuvden kernel well that is what they told me to get rid of gremlines or something, then flash the custom rom, youll have cwm and such, tell me how it goes .
To all of you thank you very much for your help... I think I have my phone back.... Our fembot Linda is doing her thing right now...
@FB I tried one click method in safe-mode and it was unable to find the drivers even after reinstalling a few times.. restarted in normal mode and gave it one more shot and I now have my phone back.
Thanks again for all the help.

I totally forgot he made a stock ODIN. My bad!
I really need to rewrite the starter pack to have heimdall one click instructions. Nobody ever got around to making it.
I've only given the guide a cursory look at times, but I'd be willing to draft something for the guide if thst helps keep you focused on developing.

I've never done the video thing. Guess I can research it and give it a go.

From bricked to fixed.

I was caught in a boot loop and tried to re flash, when in my haste I forgot that Odin will recheck partition when loading .Pit files (pretty lame feature)
Still it was my fault for clicking start in haste.
**phone was partitioned, and would not go into download mode, it was stuck in a screen that said "Firmware update error, please restore in Kies", but it wouldn't connect to kies**
I sent my phone to XDA member Connexion2005
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1602851
I haven't got it in my hands yet, but he just told me it was fixed, I can't wait to get it back and leave it the hell alone (until someone makes CM7 or better work on it)
anyhow, this is out there so if you do what I did (DON'T) there's a solution. Set me back $50 plus shipping to TX from NYC but still, I didn't have to get a whole new phone.
for 50 bucks im sure k0nane would have made an uberfixit tar :/

Please elaborate. Not finding much info on this "uberfixit", but it sounds like it's some method of re-creating the stock filesystem that's flashable in odin?
I was putting this out there, because I'm not the only one that this will happen to.
yea it happens when you repartition, an uberfixit requires a complete dump of the phone and quite a bit of time, but will completely fix what you described
the problem with repartitioning is that it wipes the phone clean and then starts to reinstall everything, problem is neither one of teh tars has the full dump (we do it for the sake of saving actual bricks)
knowing someone who can jtag is great we have had a few epic 4g touches that crashed and burned and were saved via jtag.

You may not remember, but I did go onto your IRC and spoke with you regarding this issue.
oh sorry, the irc channel we have is for a bunch of devices currently we house blaze 4g, attain 4g, conenct 4g, lucid and optimus m+ owners. so i probably thought you were an attain owner since we have had a good number of attain owners repartition as well :/

it's all good, bottom line is I f'd up my device, but now its fixed.
um...yeah...
So i did the exact same thing as you... Been trying to find anyone who can help me out. Is there anyway I can fix it myself? I haven't found a single place in my whole state that can fix the problem. If at all possible, I'd like to avoid sending it out for repair.
So how do I get this uberfixit?
I stupidly re-partitioned using Odin, also: I did not realize that Odin re-checked the check box -even after unchecking- when a new pda file was loaded. My bad. Totally though it was bricked until i was able to flash this stock gingerbread rom, but now kies says that my Blaze S does not qualify for upgrades... Did the re-partitioning do this?
I can no longer get to the recovery screen, although if I restart my blaze while connected to a pc via usb, it does allow the "re-install OS?" page to display, and I can get to recover from there: But absolutely no more access to the recovery "menu" which allows me to wipe cache/restore to factory/etc.

Hi, k0nane I too have bricked my phone due to not unchecking re-partition. Now no matter what I do the phone displays the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. It is frustrating. I will certainly pay you if you make a fix for this that I can flash in odin! I don't care if it wipes my phone completely as I was trying to flash a new rom anyways. Please reply I'm desperate to get this thing working again.

No need to pay anyone lol just pull the battery and go back to download mode (for Odin) again and revert back to stock. A quick search through 'bricked' type threads would have netted this info
