Just do a search for Genie Widget apk. This is the news widget from the Nexus One.

Awesome! I'm new to Android (First smartphone here) but that doesn't work. I tried installing with AppInstaller and adjusted my phone settings to install apps not in the market.
No dice. It starts up like it is going to install, then says "Authorization Failed".
Could it be for a different build only?

oh man so so close! I actually get to the point where its about to install, and then I get "Application not Installed" with the yellow exclamation point next to it. It even shows the newspaper icon! A little digging around, and some random posts suggest it has to do with 'application signing'.
Know anything about this?
Yea, you need superuser (root) access.
Hope you don't mind Gimpeh but I posted the apk on a few other sites to see if anyone else can do something with it. If they are able to get it working I will re-post it here most definitly.

Is the apk de-odexed? I.E., when you open the apk, is there a classes.dex in there?

Yep. Can you help? I tried installing via ADB in the SDK, but still no dice. I also tried signing the APK with a debugging key, and again, no dice.

Sure I did that for the droid2 swype and it all worked expect for the swiping ability haven't had chance try this swype though

Wonder if we can pull out the 4G stack if it's not screwed over with TouchWiz code in it like the 4G stack is screwed over with Sense code (iirc).
Samsung keyboard
Ive opened up a thread to see if anyone could get the samsung keyboard to work on the evo. Not swype but the actual samsung one, unfortunately no real response. So just checking if anyone can port this over it would be awesome, since its a pretty nice and easy to use
Is there anyone interested in porting this to the EVO? I liked the interface when I tried a friends Galaxy S it would be cool to try it out.
Would there be anyway I could flash or push the browser in the epic to my CM6 rom? The browser is pretty smooth on the Epic. If so, how would I go about doing it?
Any luck with the video editor app?

i installed the original CM6 but uninstalled the adw launcher with "root uninstaller". is this method equivalent to flashing your rom?
There is an app in the market that is called "Gingerbread Launcher" by Eugene373 which is the stock gingerbread launcher. It performs very well with CM7. Your intentions are appreciated, but there is really no reason to upload an entire rom for one app change, especially when its in the market. Thanks for the effort!

You are both wrong. Lancher pro is free. The reason it is an issue is because what was said before that, it can be downloaded for free and installed yourself. It's not something you should ask to be included, just do it yourself.

Fwiw, the latest version of LauncherPro is sweet, and free as always. The LP dev is releasing a fully rewritten version in the near future as well..
i know is in the market. only there is a lot of my friends that was asking me if it was possible to do this. without having 2 launchers.

Yes Navigation works really good
Any fix for the voicemail icon always being on the taskbar: nevermind
was gonna use it but the D/L link is broken. Get a 403 Forbidden error when i try.

My bad, ics , cm9. Unzip the package and use root explorer to copy and paste each app to system/app then install from there and reboot

Doesn't work for me using root explorer.
I can only install the main home program, the others give me a parsing error, and when I select it as my home app I get a force close.
Played around with it for like 15 minutes only but everything appeared to work fine for me on AOKP. It looks neat to me but grown to used to apex Launcher and the weather I can just see in the pull down on current ROM

Yeah, can't get the themes installed either, bet the permissions are wrong. Just a tip, I use solid explorer to unzip O2x roms, then go in and take what I want. The solid explorer is the real deal.

Yeah, it leaves a lot to be desired. I would say typical, but after interviewing Ricardo, I know things that keep me from bad mouthing LG. A lot of people forget, LG is a multi-national, billion dollar business, if a product is a loser, it's a loser. That being said, a lot of people will be pulling their feet out their mouths soon enough. Also, me and Ricardo agree, LG is right up there with build quality. Now, software, remember, a lot of grandma's are buying smartphones also, LG ui 3.0 is pretty tight if you're 85.

Use root explorer or similar and copy and paste the launcher in system apps, then touch the app and install there in system, finally, reboot. You should be good then

This launcher will only work on ICS so if you have Gingerbread you may not be able to install it at all. At least that is my experience.

INSTRUCTIONS:
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP(just if you want to revert back)
DOWNLOAD THE FILE
FLASH IT
WIPE CACHE/DALVIK
REBOOT

you cant simply do anything to stock,
remember, its EMUI,, the heavy themed android, might crash something..not sure, you can give a try, only after making a backup..

go to settings>apps>pixel launcher>permissions> make sure every permission (mainly the location) is turned on
now, close settings and open google app and pull down to refresh,
now press home.. it should be working

Make sure your Google app is up to date and check your location settings and try to refresh your weather app if you have any..
And reboot once , even if you don't get it
