pdanet guy has released an app to the marlet that lets you access the web from your gtablet via bluetooth through your phone. I tried on my gtablet and works as advertised. Note this is a web proxy solution so not all apps work, but browser/http based stuff should be fine.
Does you phone have to be an android phone?
Seems to be almost working with Droid X and Gtab, but always fails just after connection. Still messing around with pairing options. This would be an awesome way to tether tablets.
I have this app running as I'm typing now on my gtab.
My mobile isn't rooted yet and its virgin mobile, so locked down on wifi tethering.
So I tried this app out, it took a little work and a few roms.
I had tnt lite 4.4 and the latest G harmony rom 2.4?
They would both freeze up on me when I was in the browser.
I'm now on Cyanogenmod 7.0.3. The latest stable version and its working fine.
Good rom, and I got netflix and hulu working on it too.
The PdaNet tablet Beta app only let's you share internet to the Browser APPs though not all apps.

I have a droid x as well running .595 GB. What ROM are you running on the Gtab? I am gonna try this out tonight on CM7.
What is this app called? I need to grab it before they remove it from market.

No need to hunt for it.
Here is the developer's official page.

I'm running Calkulin+Clemsyn 1.5ghz Froyo V6 on the gtab and stock GB on the DX. PDAnet tablet has been updated a couple of times and I still fail when connecting. Haven't spent a lot of time troubleshooting.
I am running Vegan tab 5.1.1 suppl and am having problems connecting. I enable the blue tooth on the phone (Droid 2) server and the gtab client. The tab recognizes the phone but when I go into settings on the phone it says the gtab is paired but not connected. Any suggestions? I get "fail to connect bluetooth server (java.io.IOException: Connection timed out.")
Thanks
Even with all the updates I'm still not able to connect. Oh well wireless tether it is.

Hello,
Thanks to all the great folks here on this forum I have modded my Gtab and I am really loving the experience.
I am currently running TnT Lite 2.4 and find it very stable. I did the Market fix that allows most os the apps to show up. Still using the old Market interface which accurately shows my downloaded and purchased apps. I have installed ADWlauncher EX and not looked back.
Since buying my Gtab I have rooted my MyTouch 3g 1.2 and implemented Barnacle to create an ad hoc wifi hotspot that works very well with my Gtab.
I read somewhere here that somebody was able to connect their phone GPS to the Gtab through the use of a combination of shareGPS and BlueGPS. I can't seem to find the shareGPS application anywhere on the Market with my phone or the Gtab. Is this due to the fact that my phone is still an Android 1.6 phone? If possible can someone point me to the sharegps apk file that would work on my phone?
Bob
Check out the new web based android marketplace:
market.andrioid.com
Moved to general
Has anyone been able to install anything from there yet? I keep getting errors.
I have installed to my Nexus One.
My GTab shows up as a Malata. Guess that one's probably never going to have proper Market support. I can browse and install, but My Apps doesn't work.
If you get in, please let us know what your tablet shows up as and if your market is working properly.
I'm the other way around. I have a GTab (showing up as Nvidia/VEGAn-Tab) that shows up in my Market Account settings and that I appear to be able to download to (I'm at work and it's at home, but it appears as an option when the Market looks for compatible devices).
But my N1 is MIA on the Web Market. Doesn't appear as one of my devices. I've gone into the Market on my N1, downloaded an app, browsed around a bit, rebooted my phone, browsed around again, but it still doesn't appear in the Web Market.
My GTablet doesnt show up AT ALL... says I dont have a phone - which I do not.
Question for those of you that can download:
1. Do you own an android phone?
2. What fingerprint are you using?
3. What ROM are you using?
For me
1. NO
2. Mahmahi fingerprint that comes with Vegan
3. Vegan 5.1
My Droid Incredible running CM7 shows up and my Gtablet running Vegan 5.1. Tried to push some of the free apps and so far it installed no problem on my incredible haven't tried my Gtablet but I did send an app to it. It seems it detects what hardware it has and doesn't allow you install apps that use gps for example.
1. Yes
2. Malata G Tablet
3. BitTrix CM7 B04
I've been unable to find a single application that will let me install to the Tablet.
1. Yes - Droid (stock, not rooted) (shows up, apps install fine)
2. Passion/mahimahi (comes with TnTLite 4.2.1)
3. TnT Lite 4.2.1
Droid shows, works as intended. Gtab is NOT showing up at all.
I'm running CyanogenMod 7 on mine with pershoots kernal. Shows up fine as a Malata G Tablet, can download to it no problems, all my apps i've downloaded show up in my orders.
Only problem I've got is my Droid one isn't showing up. My guess is because I'm running Cyanogen 6.0 Stable with the old market. (waiting for a 7 RC to update to)
I see both my Motorola Droid and my VEGAn Gtablet listed....
checking around....tried a live wallpaper and it would only list my Droid (Gtab ghosted out).
Clicked on Yellow Pages app and it allowed me to choose either. I chose my Gtab and it pushed it right on down...
Not sure what it's reading for "compatibility" for devices....

My Droid shows up and I'm running my AOSP compiled ROM with the old Market. I have however at one point, compiled a new rom and tested the new Market App...though had other issues in my new compile and went back to my previous build.
From my gtab,
as I tried to install gun bros the only device that showed up was my nexus one.
Works for me. I am on stock TnT with market installed. It detected my gtab as Malata TnT-enhanced. Thanks for the link!
These are some very interesting results.
Changed my device in the settings to Viewsonic G-Tablet, I also have my Droid 1, I can now select my G-Tablet and send to it. Works so far. Running Vegantab 5.1 Clemsyn kernel 2.6.32.9
clicked on "My Market Account"
settings tab
Just changed my nickname (Viewsonic G-Tablet)
clicked update
not sure if that has anything to do with it. A few games wont install though not sure if its because I'm trying to install it on both devices.

My tablet shows up as a Malata GTablet-TnT-Lite - I selected install and it installed the app I requested in less than 2 min. Be sure to give your tablet a nickname.. I can offer no reason why it worked so flawlessly for me.

Tried rebooting but still nothing. It's not on my gtab either.
Under settings my Nexus one shows up and my gtab shows up as the Malata.
Mine also doesn't show up as anything. I was able to download, install and run apps.

Does anyone have an apk for a previous version of Cisco AnyConnect for Rooted Devices? I had it installed on my TF and it worked great with my company's VPN. However, on September 8th they released an updated version and I foolishly updated to the current 2.4.7073 version. Now whenever I start it it says "Completing setup. Please wait..." then throws an error "A problem occured while completing setup." I tried reinstalling it several times with the same outcome. If someone has a previous apk I would really aprpeciate it.
Thanks
any connect
I had this same issue. Try reinstalling busybox, this fixed my issue.

Thanks for the reply. I am running Prime ROM and after I downloaded Busybox installer from the market (and ran the installer to install it) it is now telling me that Cisco could not obtain appropriate permissions - like my TF is not rooted, but it is. I guess I screwed it up.
Gorby try loading add-openvpn-without-tun (need to flash through clockwork mod. It can be found here

Should install all the lib files and symlinks needed to get anyconnect to work.
Thanks all. I re-installed new Prime ROM, installed Cisco (got the same error), then using Root Explorer I copied Cisco libraries into system/lib folder as recommended in Prime ROM thread and it is working great. I like the new enhancements that Cisco did too, the status icon is now gone when you close VPN.

Thanks for the info - I've been trying to get AnyConnect running since I got my Transformer but kept getting the same error you were getting.
When you say to copy the Cisco libraries into system/lib, where can I get the "Cisco libraries" in the first place (not running Prime - running Revolver 2.5).
Thanks!

Hi, the libraries are actually installed when you install the new Anyconnect from the market but you need to copy them to system/lib folder. The details are in this post.
Also, you need tun.ko module installed as part of kernel in order for Anyconnect to work. One of the reasons I picked Prime ROM is because it has it built in already so I didn't have to worry about installing it myself. I donno if Revolver has it, you should check. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I actually figured out where to copy them from and I got AnyConnect up and running, but when I connected, the VPN said 'No license" and disconnects me. I guess AnyConnect isn't going to be my solution either...
All that I want to do is use my Android device to connect to my works Ciscso IPSec (pre-shared keys) VPN! Every other device in the world supports this VPN - why not Android devices??? I just don't get it....

Sorry, can't help you there. I remember reading somewhere that "No license" error is related to something on the server side... but I could be wrong. Anyconnect works fine for my work's VPN now though, but I agree that Android users should not be jumping through all these hoops to get VPN working. Google really dropped the ball on this one in terms of competing with others. I got HP Touchpad on "fire sale" and configured VPN in 1 minute right out of the box - works great. Same with video calls on Skype... which is still not working on Android Tegra 2 tablets. Granted, this one is not Google's fault but frustrating.

Yeah, somehow, I don't think my company is going to spring for additional licenses, just so I can VPN in with my Transformer!
What about the VPN Connections app? Has anyone successfully connected to a Cisco IPSec (pre-shared keys) VPN using the VPN Connections app? I was able to get so far (it said "Connected"), but I coulnd't access any of my companies network devices, so I don't think it's working properly...
Anyone have any experience with the VPN Connections app for Android?
Thanks again - this is one of my last hangups with Android at this point, but it's a huge limiting factor!!!

In case anybody was in the same situation as I was in (Cisco IPSec VPN - Pre-shared key), I FINALLY got it working on my Transformer!! And it was as easy as installing a free app from the Market....
The App is called "vpnc Widget" - you will need a kernel that has the tun module built in, etc, but it just works! I'm using it on Revolver 2.5 currently (stock kernel). You simply install the app and then create a new widget (NOT an app shortcut) - an actual "vpnc Widget" widget.
When you want to connect to the VPN, click the widget - it connects and logs you in. When you are done, click the widget again to disconnect from the VPN.
I can't believe it was that simple the whole time... I was struggling with AnyConnect, the "vpnc" app and was getting nowhere fast. "vpnc widget" worked in minutes.
And it's free!

I found this thread after Googling "cisco android anyconnect a problem occurred while completing setup" because my AnyConnect stopped working on my Transformer Prime after doing the latest OTA update, even though I'd used Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. Then I ran Titanium Backup, which threw an error because although the restored su binary had the correct UID (0, root), it had the wrong GID (2000, shell). After setting the GID to 0 and rebooting, AnyConnect worked fine.
Hello,
I have been updating my Xoom MZ604 with the information from XDA for a while. My last update was to Jelly Bean using the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796335
Update was flawless and in a couple of minutes I was running again my Xoom.
Now I discovered Ad-Hoc is not working as previous ICS version....
I tried to use the same "wpa_supplicant" change as previous ICS and HC solutions and the Wi-Fi stooped working... So it seems not a potential solution. :crying:
After my unsuccessfull wpa adventure, I returned it to the original JB file without ad-hoc support.
Does anyone have a solution for it??? If not I am going back to ICS...
Regards to all

Maybe easiest but not cheapest one.... :cyclops:
Currently I use my Motorola Milestone 3 (Droid 3) as router when I am not home...
Android HC with the wpa_supplicant modification was able to work in this combination.... Android JB not :crying:

There are a few different apps, some that will require root access, that should be able to broadcast in infrastructure mode. AOSP roms usually do as well though I don't know what development is like for the Droid 3 given the locked bootloader.
Tethering using bluetooth instead of Wi-Fi.

I got your recommendation and after some additional searching in google I got to an application that uses the bluetooth for sharing the internet connection without needing to root my phone (company phone).
So I installed FoxFi in the phone (from Google Play Store) for free and in the tabled the PadNet Tablet application (also for free at Google Play Store).
I just enabled the bluetooth solution at FoxWi in the phone and then started the PadNet in the Xoom.
It paired and made a VPN connection over bluetooth.
Now internet is working again in my Xoom using my Motorola Milestone 3 (Droid 3) as router.
It is not as simple as before using Wi-Fi router solution (standard application in the Milestone 3) and Xoom running HC with modified wpa_supplicant file but at least I have my internet connection!!!
Since the mod is the same as the Xfinity Steram App, I also modded this app.
Removed HDMI Check and Root Check. I also tried to make the app think that it's on Wifi or High Speed Mobile Network. This might or might not work. I'm trying this because this app seems to have low bitrate for the streams and it looked like when it drops to low quality it does not seem to recover. I'm not sure what causes this; but I was actually connected to Ethernet on my Shield Android TV Box and I have good bandwidth.
I only tested it on my Shield Android TV Box. Also note that it might not work on the Leanback Launcher and if it does You will need an Air Mouse. I have my Shield with a custom ROM that runs the full Android ROM and it works fine for me.
https://www.upload.ee/files/7565696/com.cox.contour2-40600014-patched.apk.html
Can you explain how you removed the HDMI Check in the apk? I would like to remove it from Bell Fibe Tv app.
Thanks

That's a hard app to mod, the same with Virgin TV Anywhere. I modded an old version of Bell Fibe TV months ago and it was working fine but then it made me upgrade. I tried last week to mod it again and I gave up. I could not get the HDMI check removed after many hours trying.
It does work on my Laptop running Remix OS and using VGA to connect to my TV though. However on my Shield over HDMI it doesn't.
Could you provide the apk for the one you had working?

Don't have it anymore but it would not work anyways because the app won't start, it needs the new version
Maybe give this a try if you are using Android M or lower

This used to work for me on Marshmallow for the Bell Fibe TV App. I'm pretty sure it's not working on Nougat though

Anyone been able to test watching through VPN on the Cox app successfully?
I have an openvpn setup on my router and I am able to VPN from outside my home network on my laptop and watch all channels as if I was on my home wifi. However, when I try to VPN from my phone and watch through the Cox app, it acts like im on my home network just as my laptop did, but when I hit play the screen just sits there loading until it times out. This happens with the patched version of the app posted as well (not sure if it was patched to support this).
Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks all!

Give this a try
Open the Fibe TV apk with APK Editor in Your Android Box, you want to do a full edit
Search for mirror, you will find a hit on bools.xml
Change the value from true to false. Save the file and build the apk again, let me know if that works for You!
That gets rid of the mirroring error for me but gives me some other crappy connection error on my Shield Android TV Box. However it might work for You!

Not sure if this thread is still going or if I should start a new one. Just wondering if anyone had been able to look into modding the cox apk to function through a vpn (aka NOT in-home) successfully? Or if they can point me in the right direction. Thanks.
Could we get an updated version of of the app. If possible? I need
v4.10.2.007 because it's the only one that'll launch on my Mi Box
can you tell me what is is you did to remove this limitation? or would you mind doing the same for the spectrum apk?
At the moment it stopped working if I tried to login using a new shield tv I was trying to set it up with. Download works, chrome works but after I put my login credentials it saids the file is corrupt anyway to fix that? On my other shield tv it's been logged in so no problems with that, just can't add it to my new one.
