Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am new to this forum and could use some help and advice. Please know that I am a rookie when it comes to all of these. My friend have rooted my Sprint EVO 4G to 2.3.3. Now I can't control my brightness level. It is set to the max. Is there a fix to this if so, if someone can give me a step by step or baby step solution to fix this issue since it is eating 82% of my battery usage
If you'd take a look over in the Evo forums, it's a known issue with novatech screens and gingersense roms. You can flash another kernel, but this will usually bork the camera.
With the newest gingerbread update, the issue is being fixed. You'll need to flash a different rom to get rid of the issue - try the rooted version of the OTA update if you like Sense.
If you don't care for Sense, you can try an AOSP rom.
If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to pm me. I'd be glad to help. And welcome to xda!

I am going to assume you are on the OTA rooted version here running Sense (Looks like the original ROM)

This is just the kernal update.

I have a thunderbolt currently running BAMF 1.6.3 Froyo with a Froyo baseband. I WAS running BAMF 2.0.5 (beta) with a Gingerbread radio I LOVED it and want to go back... I have looked, and looked and LOOKED for someone who has bricked their device after having it work for a week or so... I ran the BAMF 2.0.5 for about a week with no problems...
Please tell me if you were one of the affected (bricked) thunderbolt owners... what rom were you running? what baseband? where did you get your baseband? and what happened when your phone bricked? and what city and state were you in when it happened? please be as specific as possible...
If your Thunderbolt STILL WORKS, please, do not post here, I am looking for people who's phones were working with Gingerbread and suddenly stopped and boot-looped... Not booting into android, not random reboots, but wont even let you into the boot loader (Clockwork recovery or similar)...
If you got your phone working, I'm not looking to hear from you... if you broke your phone because you messed up the rooting process or flashing wrong, not interested in your story, sorry... I have successfully flashed and had working Thunderbolt with Gingerbread... I just want to know how likely will I be screwed if flashing back successfully... I have spare batteries if I have that non-charging-thunderbolt issue that some had, that I did NOT have...
Thank you for your time and support and all those with Team BAMF! - You guys ROCK
Hey all...this is my first Android phone (coming from a long line of BB's) so please bear with me.
I managed to root my phone a few weeks ago using the instructions found on this site and it worked great! I wanted to update to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and found the "easiest" way to do so here:
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-up...-to-gingerbread-2-3-3-firmware/#comment-10119
Downloaded odin, flashed the ROM and everything seemed to work fine. I wont bore you guys with reading everything on that page, but it seems that that particular version was a bit buggy....especially with the missing dialed calls in the call log.
Now, I read another post as per the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146145
Is this the same version as I already downloaded? I just want to avoid the same issue with the call log.
Basically, all I want to do is to update my phone to the latest version of Gingerbread, the EASIEST way possible, and to get the most STABLE and best performing version. If I could avoid all the bloatware, then thats a plus!
I dont really care about rooting, or any other fancy features. I just want a good performing, quick and stable phone.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
download dsexton's modified build.prop and it will be more responsive, smoother and faster
Problem is that none of the gb roms out right now are official releases. They are leaks so they are supposed to be buggy. The devs here are working hard to get a full gb rom with recovery support asap.

This is probably a total noob question, good thing I am one haha. Anyways just had my HTC EVO .3D rooted and this is the first rooted phone I have owned so a lot of learning. Question is my phone keeps showing system update in the notification bar and it bugs me. I have read not to install any updates on a rooted phone ever but how do I disable this? I'm running the viper ROM, love it, the stock kernal and some custom themes. The update I've read up on sounds good so I hope Viper Rom already surpasses it or updates the current version later on. How do i fix the system update issue?
Nvm, I figured it out.
How did u do it cuz I have the same problem
Firstly i'm a complete newbie so please bare with me.
I wondered if anyone could give me some details on how to install custom ROMs on my Optimus 3D.
Which ROM is the best?
How do i get it?
How do i install it?
And how do i go back to stock ROM if i decide i don't like it?
Any help i would be grateful like i said im completely new to this.
many thanks

at this point, seeing as gb will be out in about 3 weeks i would recommend that you not flash anything and wait for it. cause once you root it is a bit risky to try and update officially. you will have to unroot in order to update via lg tool. so best to wait, get the official gingerbread, have some fun with it and in the meantime a better custom gingerbread will be out so you can start flashing with that
thank you for your advice, out of curiosity,
has your device been randomly restarting ever since they added the 3d converter?

nope. my device has been stable as a rock ever since day one when i bought it. didnt have any random reboots whatsoever. And i found that although custom roms are way faster than the lg one i prefer the stock because of its stability. had a few probs with all the custom roms from a few reboots to phone freezing. no such thing on stock though
Hi Guys,
I'm hoping you knowledgeable people can point me in the right direction in updating the ROM on my Sensation.
It's currently on InsertCoin 4.0.3, Android 4.0.1, Radio 10.14.9035.01_M. I've not updated the ROM for months as last time I tried, I messed something up and I was relieved just to be able to get back to the old version. Looking at the situation today, that ROM has been merged with another team's efforts and I'm a bit confused as to how to progress.
The latest Chrome seems to have played havoc on my device, hence the need to update. Has anyone else experienced these issues? Freezing, crashing, resetting the phone.
I was interested in Cyanogen Mod, but there doesn't appear to be a stable build as yet. Which ROM should I go for?
Any help is most appreciated from this clueless chap.

Hi,
It seems from your radio that you are still on GB.
In order to update your phone's firmware to be able to use the latest CM9 ROMS,look HERE
Many thanks for the advice, I'll start with that. I'm on ICS already tho?
Thanks again
Yes you will need to update your firmweare to 3.32 for Ics roms.
Once your firmweare is updated correctly you can flash a ics ROM then. Remember gb wont run with Ics firmweare and ics wont run with gingerbread firmweare. Hope this helps some.

Hi,
Your radio number is a GB one.
That is probably what is causing your Chrome issues.
Follow the thread I gave you and update your firmware fully(which includes the radio)
Remember, when the firmware has finished,it will say update complete.
Thanks Guys, will have a look.
Many thanks malybru & realsis, your help is much appreciated.
