launcherpro help with custom icons! - HTC Inspire 4G

hey guys. i upgraded to launcherpro plus and root explorer and deleted my previous launcher and the stock rom file manager through titanium back. when i try to replace dock icons through launcher pro with my custom ones, it goes straight to my gallery instead of giving me the option of which apk i want to select the new icon from. in this case, i want to select my custom icon through root explorer but its not showing up as an option through launcherpro. any advice or possible fix? thanks

Have you tried restarting LP?

yeah. i've tried restarting lp with no luck. then went to app settings and restored to default for both root explorer and lp... still with no luck. cant seem to figure out what it could be. my other apps such as desktop visualizer give me the option of which apk to select the custom icon from but for some reason launcherpro just goes directly into the stock gallery browser

Adw launcher default over stock launcher

Is it possible to make adw launcher a default launcher, and when i mean default i mean the stock launcher is gone thanks for help
HTC Wildfire S (VM) "s-off" "rooted" Stock Rom
Since you're rooted you can get rid of it by just deleting the app from /system/app, using something like Root Explorer, but why bother? As long as AWD is set to default then the other launcher won't even run after a reboot (unless it's TouchWiz - I've been informed that that does run, so you need to delete all the widgets from the screens first.)
Generally, whenever I change launcher I tend to remove everything possible from the previous one I was using, just in case it ever does run for some reason.
ok cause the reason i ask is because if i were to do a factory restore it would delete adw because its an app, so that means when i start up it will say foreclose and ill have to find an apk and drop it into the phone and install. is it possible to make it cm7, ware its not an app, its a default launcher?
You're basically talking about making your own ROM. That's the only way to pick and choose what's included in it.
I downloaded adw ex and pushed it into system/app and installed, i clicked home and selected adw ex as default launcher, i turned off my phone and flashed a zip i found here on xda that deletes sense rosie apk and launcher, rebooted and now my phone is running off adw ex, i did a factory reset to see if it still works and it did. by moving the app into the system/app it cant be deleted unless i go inside and delete it. thanks for all your help guys
Cool. I will try on my tablet.

So you just moved the apk to system/app and installed it from there?
Yes, I as running HTC.launcher so I completely deleted that and now my adw is my stock launcher, the reason I moved it to system is because if you install it like a regular app what happens if you do a factory reset or it accedintaly gets deleted, in system app its now apart of your rom, and to prove that go to settings then applications, you will see that regualr apps can be deleted but system apps cant, all it offers is to delete updates, you would need titanium backup to delete system apks , so that's why I moved it to system/app, (push Adw to system/app and install)

[Q] ROM for Blu Vivo 4.3 to replace manufacturer skin/theme

Hi!
Does anyone know if it is possible to re-flash a Blu Vivo 4.3 to reset the manufacturer's theme/skin? I just want to reset it to the default ICS interface and apps. I cannot find any suitable ROM image.
Thanks!
Once you root it, you can install another "launcher" to replace the GO launcher, for instance, Cyanogenmod uses a launcher named "Trebuchet".
Make sure you have already installed CWM recovery that way you can make a backup, and be able to recover from it if you screw it up.
Most of what are calling a "theme" is coming from that GO-EX launcher.
Go here first.

You sure this is Go Launcher or Go Launcher EX? If so, wouldn't downloading themes for these launchers allow you to change the way everything looks?
I have tried downloading Go Launcher and Go Launcher EX themes and tried to apply them as the skin/theme and it doesn't work.
I know enough about Android phones that if the themes were meant to work for this "GO Launcher (EX)" skin/theme app on the BLU Vivo 4.3, then it would show up there. It only shows "current" and "android" I believe.
Please let me know if I am wrong.

[Q] My Explorer don't have SKIN option

My Android is 2.3.5 stock ROM,
with 3.5 sence. Any ideas how can i set a Skin on this phone?
With some launcher, like Go , smart, launcher pro, 360 launcher, and a lot of those, or check out theme's subforum
Root your phone. Flash recovery. Flash any cm rom, Now you must have theme option under settings.

[Q] Best way to replace stock launcher?

Is copying a new launcher from data/app to system/app and freezing the stock launcher with TiBu or App Quarantine the best way to replace the stock launcher?
What I used to do:
1. Download Nova
2. Copy Nova in data/app
3. Paste in system/app and fix change the permissions.
4. Rename or delete Trebuchet/Launcher2/etc
However, when using ParanoidAndroid, it appears at first that doing this is fine. But after switching around PIE settings and switching between tablet, phablet and stock UI, I get into FC hell. Not sure what sets it off, but it happens randomly. Only solution is to stay in tablet UI mode.
Does anybody still replace the stock launcher on their current rom? Or do most people just install the 3rd party launcher and let it be?
If you do put your new launcher in system/app, do you freeze the stock launcher?
Just wondering what most people do when they install a new rom and put a new launcher on there. Maybe this is just a remnant of the old Android days.
What is the advantage of doing it that way instead of just installing it from Google Play and setting it as the default launcher?

You don't have to make Nova a system app.
Just install it normally via Play and then you can erase w/e the stock launcher is.

Best way, just download the launcher from the market and install it. I always keep my stock launcher incase if something happened to the third party launcher and if you don't have a backup, you may need to restore from nandroid or adb or fastboot to recover....definitely not fun!

[Q] Stuck on a launcher

I just flashed a firmware that came stock with Holo Launcher HD launcher, and I have used this ROM before and successfully killed it and replaced with Trebuchet or TouchWiz. Well, now I killed it in Titanium Backup, and it still shows up when I press home, completely intact. However, It is no longer in the Titanium or Settings menu Apps list, and when I try to install a different launcher it does not ask me which I would like to set as default when I press home. I would just clear the defaults but like I said it doesn't show up in any Apps list on the system or Titanium. So now I am stuck on junk Holo Launcher HD launcher with seemingly no possible alternatives. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re-flash and try again.
Install file manager with root access (I use root explorer)
Reboot
Navigate to /system/app
Delete launcher apk
Reboot
