so i everything went fine using bubbys method to root my inspire, (thank you by the way) i have not done anything after rooting the phone, everything works fine, except the mobile network, the little symbol is still there and my phone says its connected to the mobile network, but when i goto use it it says connection dropped, i opened the internet browser and it took 20 min to load google, before i rooted this was an instant load no waiting, i had no problems with internet before i rooted my phone, i would appreciate any help and advice, thanks
Flash a different Rom. Gingerbeast is a good'n but be sure to make a nandroid first.
when making a nandroid, do i have to save it to my pc, or do i leave it on the phone, i would like to stay with this rom for a while if i could get the connection back to where its supposed to be, is the a radio that would fix this? anyone's help would be greatly appreciated

Nandroids are saved to your SD card.
The radio is not backed-up when doing a nandroid...meaning, it's not touched at all... Not backed-up, not restored either... The same radio will persist from ROM-to-rom, nandroid restore of a previous ROM, etc.
Trying different radios may or may not improve your situation. It's a very user-specific thing. Personal testing/experimentation is the only way to find out.
If you do decide to play around with radios, start with the inspire only radio thread in the dev section. Use that method outlined in post #1, and those flashable radio files, also in that first post.
any one already have this problem? i need help
i would like do go back to the OTA radio that i had before i rooted my phone, does any one know a safe way to do that, ive heard so much on this im over whelmed, some say my APN settings are to blame, some say its the radio, some say i just have to flash a different ROM, i want the stock rom with the ATT crap removed, but i also need my internet back to where it was, what do you guys think?, one time i had problems with my internet before i rooted, i called ATT and they had me read of some info from the about phone section of the settings and then they fixed it over the air, do you think i could get away with this?

So you're saying that before you rooted, you had actually received the new OTA update that "enabled the pseudo-4G," correct?
That radio and RIL is available from the "inspire only radio thread" by tribalartgod in the dev section.
here
It's the one that ends in "06.30_M" and is noted as the recent OTA. There's two choices, one with rcdata and one without. Rcdata is a file that was included with the ota, that is not critical for the radio to flash properly, but if you want a "pure" OTA radio experience, you should flash this one.
There are settings in that extra rcdata file that are related to that radio, though not much is known about what they actually do, ATT included it, so its probably a good idea to use that one, just in case. I did, and if you had done the OTA prior to rooting, you did to. So use the radio file with rcdata.
Just folllow the instructions in that thread, and you'll have that radio, as you did prior to rooting.
i did that dindent help
so i correctly applied both the radio and ril, and restarted twice and waited 30 min and my speed went fron 200kb to 600kb down and still at 90kb for up, what now, and what of these was i supposed to choose:

i used the ones in bold?
Hmm, I personally did not have this issue, but I also used a different method, but to fix this I would definitely attempt to do a full wipe and install a new rom. I highly recommend using the rom Android Revolution HD, but that's your choice. Hope this works!
im not haveing any luck
so i flashed a new rom and i love the rom everything is great except the moblie connection, same problem as with the last rom, i cant even load google or the market, it says im connected, i ran speedtest.net app, very poor results. 500down/90up, someone please help
I tried installing BAMF 3.0 RC2 on my phone, and I can't seem to get it working properly. Upon startup it force closes a bunch of things and the radio shows no signal at all. I have ran the MD5 on the download to ensure integrity. Also did a complete wipe prior to flashing. Could this be a radio problem? I haven't done any radio upgrades.

when you say everything is the same, do you mean it still has the previous radio version number?
I'd suggest that you both:
1) Wipe data/dalvik/cache and flash back to a froyo ROM where you do have a signal
2) Upgrade from froyo to the MR2/2.5 radio
3) Re-wipe data/dalvik/cache (or even do it twice for good luck ) and re-flash BAMF 3.0
If its worth doing, its worth overdoing, especially when you're messing with radios and the like. Best of luck!
That's the same problem I first had with gingeritis before flashing the correct radio.. if you are still experiencing the problems after the radio flash i would suggest confirming the radio did install by checking the version number..
if it is all correct do as MattBeyers said and wipe and reflash
Thanks, that seemed to work. I still got a couple of force closes but much less than before. Also I can see my radio now! If I wanted to restore my old my Backup (Stock Froyo - MR1), do I restore my backup then flash MR1? If so, does anyone have a link the MR1 image? TIA!
I'm always one to upgrade/downgrade radios before I flash a ROM, so I would say to downgrade to MR1 and then flash the Froyo backup. Also, try going into ROM manager and using the Fix Permissions tool to see if that helps with some of the force closes.

Any reason for flashing one before the other? Reading through several of the ROM threads, it seems like everyone has a preference, but no one explains why.
I tried mr2 and mr2.5 but could only get 3g. Went back to CM7.

I just feel like the radio, being the thing that, well, controls every useful function on the phone, should be installed and present when a new ROM is flashed. I may be wrong, but it would seem logical to me that a new ROM would talk to the radio in order to make sure everything is kosher. But what if that's something that a ROM will only do once, at the first boot, and not once a new radio is flashed? Then, all of a sudden, you have the right radio, but its configured improperly by your ROM, since the ROM has already gone through its initial boot set up with the old radio. Therefore, my theory is radio > ROM (Please note, theory. )

This makes sense from a logical reason. Perhaps a ROM developer on this site can confirm this.
Hi all,
A week ago I bought a brand new Desire S and installed latest CM 7.1 stable following the guide on cyanogemod Desire S Wiki using revolutionary 0.4pre4. Everything was smooth and nice, I flashed ROM and GAPPS and my phone is working absolutely perfectly... but there is one little problem...
I am using Desire to fetch my mails from 2 mailservers using IMAP every 30 mins. But when the phone is switching between network modes i.e. HSDPA -> EDGE or EDGE -> GSM or any other way, I am disconnected from operator network for about 10 seconds until the network mode changes and everything is fine after that, until there is another network mode switch.
This happens for me about 10 times a day, so my phone sometimes appears that It is turned off for people who want to call me. Immediately after connecting to network I get a missed call SMS from my operator.
Interesting thing is, that when I disable email fetching, disable background data transfer and disable network data, the phone works fine without "blackouts".
Can someone help me with this problem? Maybe a radio issue?
Some more info:
ROM: Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 Desire S
Recovery: Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
HBOOT: 6.98.1002
Kernel: 2.6.35.14-cyanogenmod+ [email protected] #1
Radio: 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
There is a newer radio-file online.
Maybe it's solving your problem.
I'm using MIUI and never had such problems, but i'm interested in flashing CM, so please report if the problem is gone by flashing newer radio!
Which radio version are you using?
Today I am testing 2G only switch so I am on EDGE data only.
Flashing radios is safe......, but a bad radio flash will instantly brick your phone.
You are using 1.47.401.4 radio, try updating to the 2.10.401.5 one.
Thanks for reply.
Shoud I flash something else with the radio?
I have 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 downloaded from cmw.22aaf3.com
Another I have is ftom OTA update zip file OTA_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8-1.47.401.4_release_225210fmxlt12djw1sr7y5.zip where is one radio.img in formware.zip file too - version unknown
So Which one to flash?
and if so, which method should I use to flash radio? The Android SDK one or the ZIP + Bootloader one?

Strangely I had the same issues as you on Endymion.
Then I updated radio to the latest.
It worked well.
Then I went to CM7. It was fine for a while, but now I'm losing signal with no 3G bars and its not switching automatically to 2G like it should when It has no 3G signal!
EDIT:
After really reading your post, I realise my issue is no way like yours! Yours seems really bad. Update your radio.

in your telephone-info there is shown the new radio after every flash?
do you have removed the batterycover, because there is integrated the antenna of your device!

No, the cover is at its place where it should be. Somehow I did the trick and I am back online with 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03 on 2G only for now.
I read somwhere in the forum that ENG HBOOT is required for new radios... Are you sure I dont need to flash eng hboot it before new radio ??

in your area 3g is actually available?
may it helps to go outside, to find your net for the first time!
did you set an accesspoint for 3g?
may you have to set automatic settings, rather than 3g/2g-only?!

using same hboot as you, never had problems on flashing radio-files!
yes, in my area there is 3g, when I turn off 2g only switch there is a problem described in my first post, so i am on 2g for now just to keep phone connected to network.
main problem is when i am driving and the phone is switching network modes.
so I give 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 today another chance, try to flash if again.
but i am woried about stucking on HTC logo after flash :-( and brick it.

i already had the problem for several times, and i also pulled out the battery (you shouldn't do that)!
only had to boot into bootloader, start recovery, wipe all partitions, flash rom and was having fun again with my device
this thread could help you, if really stuck on HTC logo
For your real problem on loosing the signal, did you ever tried out using actual stock rom, or another custom one like MIUI?
i used MIUI from 2010-08 till yesterday, now trying out CM7.1 for some days
I have the same or a very similar problem. I have the stock rom.
I already had 3 different desire s motherboard's and 2 different display's.
The first Desire S i had, with android 2.3.3, had a excellent signal. Due some problems i had, the phone bricked and had to go to HTC to repair.
HTC replaced the motherboard and update the version of the android to 2.3.5 and ever since the signal caption, the signal switch was working very bad.
The phone went to a second repair because of this, new phone, and again with android 2.3.5. The problems persisted.
I also tested with different SIM cards, from different mobile operators.
So, my conclusion is either android 2.3.5 or this new versions of Desire S have problems with signal caption and signal switch.
So as you, i need some help with this issue!

But when I reboot to recovery it will flash the radio again I think.
i hate stock roms, and dont like MIUI design That is why I am using Cyanogen
Anyway if I use 2G only switch, the phone is stable as rock both calls and data transfer.

give us more information about your device please, which radio you're using? Did they flash actual radion also?
@MyroLM:
report if the problem is still there or it's gone with flashing the rom
I am still testing new radio, but looks good Give me some days let you know...
Hi All,
I have a similar problem with the latest CM7.1 nightly builds (Reaper, jorgen2009). I never saw this with older CM7.1 versions, e.g. Nexx version, ICS, MIUI oder Endymion.
I have WLAN on and leave my house. Phone switches to 2G/3G..., so far so good. When I return home, The WLan sign in the status bar appears again, everything seems to be fine, but I have no connection. I get no data via WLan until I swicth WLan off and on again.
Radio is the latest from 2.10.401.5.
Best Regards
Wrapp
Had similar problems, upgrading to the latest radio helped. I got stuck on the HTC screen and I went through flashing RUU's and unlocking bootloaders back and forth... when the only thing that needs to be done is to wipe the cache.
Learned a lot about bootloaders though. But my warranty got void because i did the htcdev unlock... (Sorry for OT)
I've been experiencing the same battery jumps that others have (randomly turn off, battery drops, turning off and then having more battery etc etc)
I was wondering if I can factory reset with S-off.
Are there any files that I need or anything to do a correct factory reset.
What is it you mean by factory reset?
The wiping of all data etc or wiping and returning the ROM you got the phone with?
Edit: Either way both are possible with S-OFF
Sorry for the poorly worded question?
I've been having so many issues with battery drain, random turns offs, battery resets I just want to turn the phone back to the way it was when i got it out of the box.
Stock Kernal, Stock Firmware, Stock OS.
Is there a thread or ROM that I need to look at?
its all in the first post but a way down - read very carefully my friend
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
What ROM, firmware, radio etc are you currently running?
Check Settings > About phone
You should be able to find most info there, radio version will be called baseband.
Rom: ARHD 4.1.3 by mike1986
Firmware: I believe its 1.17 but im not sure
Android Verison 2.3.5
Kernel Version: Sebastian Faux 0.2.8
Radio Version: 11.65.3504.00P
Build Number: 2.08.401.1 CL
Im also running OSX a lot of the guides im reading have information for PC's so dont think I havent done any research im just a little lost.
Some of the issues you will be having will be due to that ROM being in beta,
also I see your using the radio from the latest ICS RUU leak which is not the recommend radio to be using with that ROM.
If I was you I would attempt to flash the stable version of the ARHD ROM HERE
Ensure you read the post carefully and follow each step. I would recommend having SuperCID before flashing the firmware and super wipe before flashing the ROM.
And make sure you use the recommend radio also clearly pointed out in the post.
EDIT:
If you have issues flashing the radio as described by mike1986 have a look here and download a flashable .zip for the following radio, which you can then flash from your recovery
10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
If all that seems to scary it may not have been such a good idea to jump in the deep end. Take a look at running an RUU as mentioned already in this thread information can be found HERE at the bottom of the first post
As always ensure you are 100% sure and happy you know what you are doing and double check everything before you do anything, as any of these processes done incorrectly could brick your phone
Nah none of that seems scary, ive flashed roms and firmwares and kernels before I just wasnt aware of the radio problem. Ill try to flash the radio and report back.
EDIT:
I wasn't aware that ARHD 4.1.3 was a beta.
Can I flash the radio without using ADB I had issues setting it up on my Mac

In my last reply I included a link to a flashable version of the radio. Good luck and let us know how you get on
So everything seemed to go well.
I flashed the old radio and the stable version of ARHD.
My phone was going great for about 4 hours.
Then bam the battery died and when it rebooted it had 8% battery, before it died it had near almost half, looking at the battery graph I can see a part when the graph has a straight line, which im pretty sure isnt right
im charging it now but im not sure what the issue could be.
Still considering a reflash to factory, but im not even sure that would work.
Any help would be more than appreciated.
Thank you.
I had this issue when I just flash a Rom.... Try to discharge it all the way down then charge it full to 100%... Be sure its 100% not the green led indicator... When you're fully charge just wipe the battery cache....
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats
See but how do I know that its actually completely discharged when it can get low die and then I turn it back on and its at 50%
The same for knowing when it is fully charged?
I dont want to calibrate the battery when it is not perfectly being read.
I tend to leave it on charge throughout the night and then as mentioned wipe the battery stats. Once you have done that if its stable use the ROM for a good few days to a week and the battery will sort its self out
Alrighty, I have a One S S4, rooted, running ViperOneS 1.2.1.
Not the first time I've run a custom on here, I've been bouncing back and forth between Viper and Cyanogen, usually without issue. Normally, I've been using CWM recovery...
My problem is that I can't get a new radio to install. I've reinstalled Viper a few times, full wipe and all, reinstalled CWM, and finally, just tried using TWRP. CWM says that it updated, but nothing changes, TWRP just gets stuck saying that it is updating, but never does (have to force a shutdown)
So...anybody else run into this problem? I can't find an answer anywhere, and I have no idea what to do next, because I want to keep Viper on here, but right now, my mobile is alright, but I get no WiFi (and the solution that I'm being told is to install a new radio (would that even fix a WiFi issue))
Please help...

It's probably the hboot you have on your phone not letting you flash the radio ? As for Wi-Fi you probably need to just flash the Wi-Fi partitions. You need to find out what hboot you're on as well as if you don't know how to check which radio you're on you should look into that. About phone software baseband and more something like that.

As far as radio, it's 1.08ts.50.02.16_10.08e etc
As far as hboot version....nothing has changed since the time I could reprogram my radio
I'm pretty versed with the phone, I'm asking here, because you will know more than I do...but I know my some of my phone, and I definitely know how to program...but I don't experiment as much as I want to, and I want to know how to fix my phone..
sorry, little drunk at this time, don't want to sound like an ass...
If I think that I'm missing a basic step, I'll ask =)
The hboot, as far add I've know hasn't changed, but I don't know what does. Old versions of recovery, no luck. Had programming issues, get stuck in booloops etc, make it work right...n dint know why the radio won't program out of nowhere =(
