We have version 1.0 for it. Is there any new one or app that corrects image on front camera? Because it takes mirrored image and there is no option for mirror mode.

I'm not sure this is something that actually needs to be corrected. The image is mirrored to give the individual you are video calling with a correct view of what they should be seeing on their end. If you're trying to patch the camera to make it non-mirrored, the image would appear mirrored on the other end during a video call. All phones with front facing cameras mirror.
Ummmmn no! The screen shows an image as if you were looking in a mirror. As in you raise your right arm and the arm on your right of the screen raises. And as in words on your tshirt are backwards. Try it. The op is right.
I don't know if this is done to make self portraits seem more natural. And I don't know if the other end during a video call is also mirrored or if it is shown as if they were looking at you and the mirroring is isolated to the users screen but I'm sure somone at Samsung thought it was a good idea. Thats a pretty big mistake to make.

That's the point I'm making. If it wasn't mirrored on your end it would be on the end of the people you're video chatting with. If you take a snapshot, it shouldn't be mirrored in a still.

you mis-understand. if you take a still the text is backwards on you t-shirt. it should be like any other camera but is not, instead it acts like a mirror would,
normally if the camera and screen are facing the same direction and you raise your right hand it would appear that you are standing facing your self raising your right hand (the hand to the left of your view being that you are facing opposite directions.)
what the infuse does it the hand to the right of your view raises. in feels intuitive as if you are using a mirror but rather than only mirroring the screen output on your end to hel it feel more natural it actually saves the image like that, and though i havent tried video chatting it seems it would be sending the image the wrong way as well.
if you are doing this on purpose to see how many people you can confuse, im gonna f-ing scream! i know all about perspective, you cant throw me off.
if you are confused then put on a t-shirt with a logo and take a still of yourself, then try to read it in the galery.
Yeah. Once you snap the picture, it still remains mirrored, and why should the camera app be mirroring it in the first place? It doesn't do any video chatting (correct me if I'm wrong).

it does in video chat in 3rd party apps, but you wouldnt want it mirrored for that, that would be wierd. the only reason i can come up with is a mirror feel more intuitive to focus on your self than a camera so they mirrored the image, they should have only mirored the screen image within the camera app though, instead it seems the firmware outputs a backwards image to file and likely any software using it.
that brings up another point though. can we pull the phone apk from the i9000 for video calling in the dialer and would that work on the infuse and on att's network?

I would like to know what applications can you use to video call as you mentioned here. I have tried Fring and Yahoo "Messenger" and both utilize the back camera and there are no settings or button to switch to front facing camera.
I am running the Infused rom, I wonder if that has something to do with it. I would like to make video calls, but at the moment haven't been able to.
You can use Qik. I tested it with my friend who has an EVO.

Wrong!! My buddy has an iphone 4 and i used to use a dell streak and the dell was mirrored. Once i got the infuse i told him his phone was screwed up because the infuse was mirrored too, so i tried to con him into the thought that his should be mirrored too. he took a pic of his t shirt with his and it showed a correct pic. he took a pic with my infuse and his t short was morrored. RETARDED !!!!
This camera is awesome! I used this on the S.U.R.F.A.C.E. rom because my kept force closing.

1.Starting the application into a black screen is a bit - distasteful and not user friendly. Add the buttons that you have when pressing menu here.
2. The Plumb and Level indicators are a bit hard to get right, you should probably think about over laying a set of arrows to tell the user how they need to move to get level and plumb.
3. Typical camera uses the trackball to snap the picture instead of menu or a screen tap (at least on our heros) This would make it more fluid.
4. Not sure how you are storing/retrieving GEO information, but its wrong...at least for me it is
5. Just in my office - it seemed like one picture would have a different light saturation than another frame in the picture.
6. Your stitching of the pictures seems like it has a VERY low error tolerance, and you might try looking at other ways of matching and stitching pieces together so they are seamless.
7. After you have one panorama, instead of showing it at the beginning, have a gallery button, this way they can come into a screen of buttons and actually navigate with out having to use hard keys.
The above was meant to be constructive - please don't take offense, I think you have a good starting point with the app. If you need help with any of it let me know, I have a pretty decent Java/Android background, just no time to make my own apps.

I didn't understand the difference between the two different options for creating a panoramic pic (I don't remember what they were called, manage and auto I think)
I also didn't understand the point of levels
Also it would be nice when the stitching occurs if the app looked for overlap and then removed the overlapping parts of the pic.
Another suggestion would be that when you take a pic that is part of the panoramic shot that you leave it on screen and then overlay the camera view over it so you can better line up and tell where the next shot should be.

I hate to bust your bubble, but there is no front facing camera on the Samsung S AT&T Captivate. I do not believe that any information has ever said that this phone had a front facing camera. So in the end there is no app that will help you use a camera that is not there.

Okay, I just looked at that site on both my MacBook Pro (Chrome and Safari browser) and the phone.
Using the park bench in the snow as a sample, it zooms in pretty butt ugly pixelated on both screens. That image is only 600x450 to begin with.
Using the yellow and black starburst 1600x1200 image on both, it zooms in very nicely.
I think it's just a matter of too small a resolution image being zoomed in too tightly. Should the phone (or laptop) do some kind blending to smooth things out...?

Well, that was a totally different issue, and it's been corrected by T-Mobile/Google.
If I recall correctly, that had something to do with T-Mobile service not recognizing the phone properly, so T-Mo was compressing the MMS pics too much on the server side. Seems to be a common thing with T-Mo and new devices they don't launch on their own (according to what I've read).

Complete noob here so maybe I've missed something glaringly obvious, but how do you make a video call with the one s? I can't find any option for it and a google search only brings up ways to do it using an app or skype. My video call time comes out of my monthly calling minutes so when I'm travelling it makes sense to use it rather than skype as I have a capped data allowance and more minutes than I need.
Thanks

Nope, nothing there to initiate a video call. And then when in call I cannot find any option to turn on the camera for a video call. I've looked and looked (before and during a call) but I can't find any option to do so.
Ok I emailed HTC and asked and their response was:
I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with making a video call.
I believe that the reason for this is because the phone does not make video calls via the normal phone function. It makes video calls using 3rd party software e.G. Skype etc. But as we do not support 3rd party software I would be unable to help you set this up. I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Bit of a disappointment personally, but I suppose video calling isn't very popular so most people won't care. Still, was it really that difficult to add a video calling option/function?
But if your phone did support it, and not through a 3rd party app using internet, The receiver would also have to have the same set up right ?
And video calling isnt that popular.. Can you not speak with your provider and see if they can change the video call allowance into internet allowance instead ? Then you could use a 3rd party app like skype... Much more popular

Yes, but whilst I'm no expert, most phones I have come across with front facing cameras do support video calling and more importantly the people who I would be calling have this option on their phones.
Not to worry though, not a major issue. Just seemed a bit odd to me to put a front facing camera on there and not support it without a 3rd party app. I can manage and with all the free wifi hotspots I get access to through my package it shouldn't be a big issue.
i totally agree, It is a bit stupid to have the FFC, if they wernt gunna support video calls, they could have removed the camera and added something else instead.
like a external sd slot. or a laser beam what kills people... who knows ?
I dont use video calling, I hate people looking at me im the sort of dude that walks in the shadows with a hood covering my face lol
Setup a Google Voice account and then you can do video calls to other users over Google Talk.
I was able to initiate a video call to the wife's One S using Google Talk on my Samsung Note 2 with no problem but the front camera image quality of the HTC is so bad the feature is useless. I found this thread while searching to see if others had better results. The image on the HTC is dark and grainy on the phone's own screen and is so pixilated after being transmitted to mine it totally useless , the Samsung's is crystal clear.

I just recently purchased some of the camera lenses from Photojojo, and they all work pretty well on my Nexus 4. I'm having some problems with focusing them well, however, especially the Macro lens. Basically, what happens is I tap on the object, and it goes through the little autofocus loop, and halfway through I see the PERFECT focus, and the it just continues and goes back to unfocused! Super frustrating, because I know that I can get the perfect picture, but I just can't get the object to come into a clear view.
So, does anyone know of an app that can do manual focus? Because I know it's not a hardware limitation that I can't get a clear picture. I can see that it gets very clear halfway through the focus loop. I just need a way to manually adjust the focus so I can KEEP that clear view.
Thanks guys!

Hey if it is a close up picture then find something to focus on (your hand perhaps) and move the camera until it succesfully locks on when pushed. Then (with your finger on the shutter button) move your phone to get your object in view and release shutter.
Also if the focus is a very close one you might want to just try the macro setting on the focus mode selection.
There aren't as many focuses available with manual focus as one might think.
