Warning! fugutweak messes cell network location - Samsung Infuse 4G

ROM dev's, please don't include fugutweak!
Verified on stock ROM and Infused ROM: with the stock app_process and system_server, the cell network based location works perfectly. But with fugutweak it stops working!!
Steps: turn off wi-fi and reboot the phone (to clear gps cache). Start either News and Weather app or Google Maps app. With fugutweak: both apps say no location info found; with stock bin's: both apps retrieve location info from cell network info (i.e., a large blue circle in GMaps, and weather info is retrieved).
Until fugutweak doesn't break anything on Infuse please don't include them in your ROM's.

Isn't in my rom

Both of those applications and any other I could find work fine on cell network based location on Refuse v1.1.
I think you may be suffering from something else. (My gps and wifi were off for the test and always stay off on my phones. I don't like battery hogs ).

I've done that i've pretty much tired everything. i know its not a gps problem cuz my navigation works fine and it shows im locked to 11 satellites.. i guess i will have to use wireless network connections untill i can figure it out.
HD Widgets works 100%. I had same problem with Go weather on ICS.
Another app you could try is be weather, it has some good, configurable widgets and nice full screen video in the main app. Also tracks your location. Am using with virtuous 1.3 ics.
thanks for the tips i went with HD Widgets and it works fine i disconnected wireless networks and just left gps on and it works. ill be closing this thread now thank you guys

[Q] Gps / location services

Sorry I couldn't find the exact match with my issue so I thought of creating a new thread.
I updated my Xperia Neo ROM but I'm having difficulties with GPS/LOCATON service. It works fine on a 3G network but it couldn't load my location whenever I am connected to a wifi network. I've tried using different apps on my phone but still wouldn't work. It just keeps on searching/loading.
It used to work fine before with stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM/KERNEL. Is switching back the only fix? Please help. :crying:
I have the same issue, gps location is not working for my new rom either (unoffical jellaxy cymod 10 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875015) is there a fix/patch to flash??!

GPS on wifi is now working on my NEO. I think it's my wifi connection or just my area.
A possible cause and fix

Remember that Android has 3 different location services:
Real GPS, this requires only the ability to "see" the sky where the GPS locations are flying over your head, plus up to 15 minutes to download the weekly schedule of where they are flying (the 15 minute download can be replaced by a 5 second web download, but you will still need the 1.5 to 3 minute download of latest updates). Additionally, it may waste a few extra minutes looking for the wrong satellites if it things you are in a different part of the world than you are (this depends on the rom, radio firmware and GPS chip).
Cell tower location service: This sends the number of the nearest 2G/3G/4G to an online service which looks up where that tower is, giving a rough location.
Wi-Fi access point location service: This sends the name and/or MAC address of the nearest Wi-Fi access point to a Google service, which returns where other users were last time they saw that Wi-Fi access point with GPS on and Google Maps Wi-Fi location sharing on.
From this I guess one of 2 things are wrong:
:silly:Your Wi-Fi network is not in Google's database (unlikely since it was recognized with your previous firmware).
The option to share Wi-Fi location data with Google maps is off after the update, :fingers-crossed:try turning it off, then on.

[CM10A4][i9003]{Possible solutions} Wakelocks

I was searching around for solutions to help me with my massive battery drain in CM10 A4 for these 2 days and I realised little emphasis had been put on "wakelocks" in our i9003 forums; so I thought some discussion here would be nice to help all of us, especially relatively new people like me.
A detailed explanation can be found in ahalford's thread; and also in the XDA wiki. Below is just what I managed to sort out for our device, specifically CM10 A4 (not sure about applicability in other ROMs).
Wakelocks are identifiable via BetterBatteryStats and I would like to mention a few of them that I could identify (and if possible, solve). My purpose here is just to share some info that I managed to find and if possible provide some guide based on my own experience.
In CM10 A4, I uninstalled:
Google Search
Google Maps
News & weather
Google Backup Transport
CM Wallpapers
Android Live Wallpapers and its associated LWPs
Spare Parts
GTalk
Movie Studio
Certificate Installer
Wakelocks identified:
1. RILJ
Easiest way to solve: Flash the fixed kernel by loSconosciuto. Personally tested it on CM10A4, and SlimBean v3.1; both worked. Just screen off/on and the signals will return.
Alternatively, put the phone to Airplane Mode (I left my WiFi on), reboot. Then leave it to screen off for some minutes, and turn off the Airplane Mode. The signal bars may not return as of yet; so just DC and reconnect the WiFi. Signal bars return, RILJ stopped. :victory:
2. GTALK_ASYNC_CONN_com.google.android.gsf.gtalkservice UNSOLVED
Attempts: Removed GTalk (but problem persisted); Auto-Sync off; and disabled location settings.
Also worth to mention it occurred only when WiFi was on; didn't test it on mobile data (I don't have one).
Attempts of freezing apps: (Still investigating)
Search Application Provider
Network Location
com.android.backupconfirm
Google xxxx Sync (Contacts, Calendar, etc)
* Others recommended to sign out from Google account, and re-add (but I have no experience on this).
* Also somebody was talking about disabling GTalk-related services in Google Framework Services using Autorun Manager (or similar); but it didn't work for me.
3. AudioOut_2
Perhaps not a wakelock. If the time matches time of you opening any games/app that produce sound; it should be normal and should stop after exiting application.
* Saw a thread that this may happen if the app did not exit properly (e.g. here)
Any input/discussion would be greatly appreciated.
Will update more whenever I have time! Thanks!

2. GTALK_ASYNC_CONN_com.google.android.gsf.gtalkservice[/B]
Solution: Removed GTalk (but problem persisted). Stopped it by freezing a few apps via TitaniumBackup but the exact way to do it is still unknown, currently trying to rule out the below one by one.

I think for 2nd wakeclocks you have to turnoff Auto-sync from setting.Double check your setting.Though there is not perticular button to turnoff Autosync in CM10 you have to use widgets to turnoff autosync.
And go to Play store settings disable all tick. That may be solve second one.

Thanks. Actually it was solved, but I forgot to mention that. I just didn't know how it went solving lol  And yeah, Auto Sync off via power buttons in notification drawer and verified from the account settings.

GPS not working

Hey guys!
I have trying to get a location with my GPS (no wifi, data or whatever) and it never gets a signal.
I have been waiting with the phone outside around 5-6 min and nothing.
Any ideas?
Cheers!

Settings/Location/ Mode = High Accuracy. Also turn on Google Location Reporting under Location Services and see if that helps. Without data you will need to save a map for offline use. I would install "GPS Status & Toolbox" from the Play Store and run that, it will also download updated GPS assistance data. The GPS Status app it will show how many satellites your device sees and how many of those it is locked on to. On my N5 google maps is sometimes not as accurate with Location Reporting off so I generally always leave location reporting on. I also leave the Location Mode in battery saving except when I need to use Maps or Nav.
