What's wrong with it? Are you rooted? Are you using custom kernel? When did it last work?
I use stock

tried. didnt work
Make sure you have the right drivers, should work just fine in x64.
Does the usb storage turns on automatically?
nothing happens but charging. no USB Debugging icon, no USB mount icon. just charge. its not the cable because i plugged in a different android phone and it installed the drivers just fine. Device manager shows no changes. No windows "ding" sound when I plug it in either.
this phone is brand new so there shouldnt be anything wrong with it
Download this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250583
and unzip it it has drivers for your phone and it should work then.

Model SPH-D720
Android 2.3.7
I wanted to root my friends ns4g but my of won't recognize it. He had a galaxy s 2 as well and it was the same issue.
I installed pdanet, Samsung drivers, different USB cords, nothing!
When I plug it in nothing happens, then about 5 mins later, USB not recognized. I manually tried to put the .inf file through the windows 7 wizard and still nothing.
Like I said my ns4g works perfectly fine, when I plug his in nothing works at all. I don't understand this at all. I have a 64bit system and made sure everything was for that. Can anyone help me out?

Can you mount usb in either recovery (if applicable) and android? Have you tried with usb debugging enabled? Also, does it show you no android device is connected in device manager?

in device manager it only shows unknown usb device with "!" symbol. Yes for debugging, and cant boot into recovery, there is no recovery as its not rooted.
help someone please! lol
There was something i read about the fast charge widget messing up the ability of the nexus to properly connect to the computer and a fix. Part of its design is to block USB file transfer when connected to a computer. There were several phones that couldn't connect after loading the widget.
Before i go and waste a bunch of time researching and digging for this. I would like to know if your friend has installed the fastcharge widget on his phone.

Try a different USB port on PC and pull the battery for a min.

Try drivers from Samsung support page. It took me a bit. But usually the pdanet drivers work. You could try another pc that does not have the drivers for the nexus.

I flashed ClockworkMod ICS on my LG Optimus P500, but I needed to install the baseband to make my wireless and mobile signal work.
When I connected my phone to my computer (Windows 7 x64) , it couldn't install the USB driver. I tried a few techniques like going to the Device Manager, and updating the driver, but it didn't work. Then I tried to use the LG Mobile Support Tool to install USB drivers, but it didn't work.
When I reverted back to my old ROM (Phoenix), and connected my phone it was able to detect the device successfully. So, I know that the drivers were always present, but it doesn't detect it on the ICS ROM.
Can someone guide me?
I'm pretty sure you have to enable USB support in the settings. Look under development and check the box.

Hi, the Android Debugging option is selected. In fact, I can see my device under ADB. But in device manager I see MTP USB Device, and Unknown Device under USB controller. Installing this driver: technoxide.blogspot.com/2012/04/download-lg-optimus-one-p500-usb-driver.html did not help.
latest drivers LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3. 7.2.exe
Thanks Viv_jen that worked a charm I had the same issue

So today I went to use noxious ninjas root method and started out fine, but after the first reboot someone called my phone and the root procedure stopped working. My phone is working without a problem but when I plug my phone into the computer, the computer won't recognize my phone. The phone just starts charging and won't connect to the computer at all. I've tried different computers and it's the same thing, it won't connect at all, it only charges. I'm pretty much a beginner to all this so any help would be appreciated.

Check settings->developer options --> usb debug should be checked.
Usb debug is checked and so is non market apps. I've tried restarting the phone and deleting/reinstalling the drivers and the program on my computer. It still only charges when I plug it in

What Os are you running on computer cause vista does that with my phone always has. windows 7 and xp play nice tho ?
s3 driving an S4
I have vista on my desktop and windows 7 on my laptop. I used the desktop to try and root because the samsung drivers wouldn't correctly install on the laptop. I've always used the desktop with Vista and never had a problem.

I think something mess-up in your phone after you rooted. Best way just backup all your apps (not system app), Odin back to stock and see if it's working. If it's then try to re-root again. Make sure everything is working before you restore all your apps.
Did you try rebooting the computer and then plug in back in?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yea I literally left my Rezound to charge on vista laptop overnight and after I unplugged every time then it would pop up new device found. It was stupid but 07 always worked... do u have Samsung drivers updated on both machines and rebooted then plug
s3 driving an S4
Well it didn't fully root, I'll look into the Odin but ill have to read more into it before I attempt anything.

It won't let me, it says that I need to unplug it before I can turn Usb debug on or off

But won't connect as camera or mtp device ^^^yea forgot usb debug won't allow that on s3 usb debug is unchecked and still no go then Odin back and start over

MTP is the worst protocol ever created. Nothing but problems. You are either rooted or your not. You can download Root Checker on Google Play to.
