Its like a small cage that is used for dogs.
You open the kennel and you put the dog inside, close the kennel. Thats how it works.
G2X
They're places you can put your dog when you're not around and they play with your dog and feed them.
NO no you got it wrong kernels are unpopped popcorn you know that annoying pieces that get stuck between your teeth or if your from alabama tooth.
REALLY guys?!? I think you all are mistaken. The Kernel makes great chicken. #NuffSaid

Best part about all that... It's kinda true... The kernel, is used to control system resources, much like a kennel is used to control a dog..... Anyone buying that?
A custom kernel is a good way to go because the stock one isn't all that awesome... Plus usually usually allow you to over/under clock which gives you more control over performance...
Trinity and faux have the best, most stable ones... I use faux's stock and it has helped out a lot...
Find one that is compatable with your rom... Put it on your sd card and flash away...

And take some time to read the forums.
Based on you first question, you will almost certainly have problems if you do not do. And do a nandroid FIRST!
For any kernel - READ THE OP CAREFULLY A FEW TIMES!
As for the "kernel's" chicken - usually too greasy...
Epic thread is epic.

I couldn't find one in upgrades, but I thought I read you could convert Vibrant ROMs to this?
Anyone know of a CM7 ROM for this device?
No cm7 as of yet.

When in doubt:

Well even an unofficial port would be nice, I mean the HD2 isn't listed there but we have fully functional CM7 roms for that device.
I also don't see any SGS device listed but can't we convert this ROM to the SGS4G?

Thanks for the heads up. Is he working on porting an already existing vibrant ROM or cooking one from scratch?
Lol. Making a joke. No idea when it will be released, but with all of the new roms that were just released, I'm sure everyone will keep busy with those.

I'll take a look, I don't own this phone but a friend has it running stock and told me he wanted a new phone and that this one was a POS, I told him the hardware is great but Samsung'd coding is just amazingly terrible, so I've been looking for a good ROM to flash for him, but since I don't have the phone was going to just rock CM7 since you can't go wrong.
Any suggestions on a stable/fast ROM? It will be hard to test these for daily use since I don't own the device.

To save yourself the hassle of looking all over this forum for tweaks and stuff, you should probably just stick to ICBINB.7.
Bionix Frost would require you to look for all those tweaks!
Both are just as good though, imo.

You guys use one click root on this thing or is there an easy root method?
One click root is what I used. Bkoon has a great point. I an one of those that like to mess with the tweaks, so frost is for me. Icinb had everything included already.

whats is the bestest rom for the g2x besides cm7, i hate their roms
I find myself being annoyed by your post... Decide for your self. Sack up and flash something! If you don't like it flash something else.
What are you looking for in a rom? Speed? Stability? Peggle? LG camera? HBO2go?
There is give and take in all the roms. I like cm7 but I like the LG camera. Can't have both right now, so I stick with speed and stability and run cm nightlies most of the time... tried them all at one time or another...
I gotta know... What do you hate about cm7?

ive had cm7 for my hd2, my vibrant and im just board and tired of it, its ok though i got the eagles blood and it clockes was faster that cm7!
Lets start with this... why so you hate cm7 ROM? This way we can make better recommendations, as well as flame you, give you no-homo as well as homo love and know more about your usage preferences.

If you're bored and want something that feels completely different try MIUI. Its based on cm7 but looks and operates MUCH differently.

MIUI = My Android thinks it's an iPhone.
I personally don't like the iPhone UI so I would not switch to MIUI. If you like the look and feel of the iPhone UI give MIUI a try. If not, stay clear of it.

The only thing that is even remotely iPhone-esque about MIUI is that the stock launcher has no app tray. Use Go Launcher or LP if you want an application drawer. Otherwise it doesn't feel or look anything like iOS.
If you are bored with standard Android, you should absolutely try MIUI. Don't let some tool tell you not to try something. Even if you do decide you don't like it, at least you'll have made the decision yourself.
MIUI themes/lockscreens are enough reason to try it out.

Flash ZEUS on to your wife's phone, and then sit back and relax.
For your Wife's phone? I'd recommend ZEUS...it's no hassle and once you get it running it should require minimum support.
CM7 is also very nice and has most of the AT&T bloatware removed.
I have had excellent battery life on both.
Thanks lads.. I will go with the ZEUS and see how that works out.
Zeus is a very good choice love it. But I've got a new spit in my heart for super cm7

I only ask this because I do not have a Skyrocket. My friend does, I rooted it a while back and now he said his ROM is giving him problems. I would normally flash and mess around with the ROM to see how it responds, but like I said I dont have one. I know ICS is fairly new so I dont want that. I need a stable, fast, good battery Gingerbread ROM. I will look in the dev section and do what i normally do, check options, and the last few pages of the thread, but any referrals are greatly appreciated without the normal hate. I will be going to his house prob thursday to hook him up, esp with the throttle trick as well

Also agree. This Rom gave me no problems at all. So much I almost didn't want to update to Seanz ICS ROM(s).
I really liked nexusmod4 never really used sky ics but i tried most of the other ones and has to say nm4 was my fav
I'm thinking of building a ROM of sorts, and I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in it.
The ROM would basically be what i run on a daily basis. A combination of a ROM and Kernel that work well together, with my own tweaks, changes, and settings baked right into it.
The idea would be that you would flash the rom, then forget you ever did. No changing frequency, no profiles, no Undervolting, no flashing other kernels, just the ROM and nothing else needed. (and I'd discourage trying it)
I would change UV settings to work on most phones, and a small overclock (most likely a 1.1 or 1.2Ghz), as well a stock Frequency/Voltage version. and each version would be stable enough to use as a daily driver.
It would most likely be a 'Flavor of the week' kind of thing, and I'll most likely change the base rom/kernel somewhat frequently (like once a month at most) to what I'm using that's stable.
So, does this sound good to anyone, or am i building for a demographic that's not there?
I would use it if u make it for the photon

sounds like a great idea... in this trend of rapidly developing roms, a stable rom with recent source changes for a change is great to fallback to.

ive been programming in C/java for about 4 years now, (2nd year programming student currently) and ive been building my personal roms from source for about 6 months, and in the past few months ive started actively changing source code, integrating parts from some kernels and ROMs, and adding things to system apps (like voltage control and frequency mod in the settings.apk)
however, on the other hand, i do have fairly large gaps in my knowledge. i only barely know how to use github, and i haven't really dealt with the Linux/android kernel much before this.
honestly, on a scale from 1-10 (1=android user, 10= developer like Whitehawkx/Morfic) id say about 7.

i feel im a very competent programmer, but there are thing i am pretty much oblivious too. outside of android I've got a good portfolio of programs and source, but when it comes to android, I'm still learning. (and i definitely feel your more knowledgeable than me)
Do it one more person helping the community isn't a bad thing. You're obviously knowledgeable enough. Once you start playing with it and have a base crowd that likes what you do you'll get further involved and make a great rom in my eyes. You're willing to help everyone and give a very insightful solution to most and all types of questions.

I agree with the above, but be weary of the people who destroy devs by all the nagging and begging.
Anticipating the arrival of this ROM!
I would do it. If you can base it off of stock with some cm7 improvements that would be cool, like with weapon g2x. I was using weapon till I switched to HFP.
