[Q] Inspire root NO sound:( - HTC Inspire 4G

I have attempted to root my phone using the method described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11321163&postcount=1
I followed the steps in the effen-manual.html
I must be doing something wrong. I have tried it 3 times now. The phone appears to be rooted, as I can tether via wifi with it, but I have no audio period.
I followed a rooting method that was posted here (I think) a few months ago that worked...I can't seem to find it anymore It involved keying in commands on the phone. It worked for me fine...don't ask why I need to root again
Is there an easy fix to get the audio back?
Thanks,
B2

Flash a ROM, any ROM with the audio fix. Try Inspired Ace, I think it's a good starter.

stonewallmike is correct. All you need to do is install a rom and you'll get sound back. Personally I love [ROM][May 31]RCMix3D KINGDOM v1.2 Evolutionary Sense! THE ORIGINAL SENSE 3.0 DHD. Here's a link to it if you like sense you'll love this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984805
Its in the android dev section usually on the first page.

Where do I get the "Inspired ACE ROM"?

From the inspired ace thread in the dev section.
Sent from the computer I carry in my pocket.

I know I'm too nice lol. I admitted to being an enabler. I also said that roms were in the dev section on both of my post. So we know he didn't look. Personally I'm trying to get my post count up so that's why I'm being nice. Also in the effen manual it says no sound unless you use the sound patch. And also recommends flashing a new rom.

Very organized and helpful, thank you.
I updated the ROM section. I included a description of each ROM, put the most recent update date, updated the version numbers, and put them in order of newest to oldest.
I also put a backup section and included a how to on backing up your phone using Clockwork. It may need some further explanation but I provided the basics. I also updated the WiMax portion since it can now be done using Clockwork.

Hello guys I'm new to this forum. I just got the htc inspire would like to know if I can root this phone with super one click root. I'm coming from the tmobile samsung vibrant and that phone is very easy to install and root the phone. All is needed just an update. Zip file to get into recovery. Or what's the easiest way to root I would love to see cm7 on this puppy.

I'm surprised to see these questions from someone with 400+ posts. You are surely aware that the stickies in this section and the dev section will answer your questions. And on the very first page of the dev section is a thread titled "[DEV][GUI][RC2][GPL][3-21-2011] HTC Inspire 4G Simple One Click".

No. Super one click will not work with this phone.
There are two rooting methods that are available, the hack kit by Attn1 and Simple root by bubby, both of which require the creation of a gold card, and are available in the dev section.
Please make sure you understand thoroughly the method you choose, read the manuals/faq's, and direct any questions you have to the method's thread, after of course, you have made a reasonable attempt at searching for previous answers to the question.
Chances are someone has already run into a difficulty and has had it assessed.
Good luck....

[Q] How to upgrade from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 my HTC Inspire 4G ?

Hi fellas, YEAH !! I"m just a nob
I just bought my first Android Phone, yes....left behind my Iphone 3GS to get into the Real Game now ! ;-)
So, would you people help me know a bit more about this? I need to know how to upgrade my HTC Inspire 4G, from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 or 2.3.4
Thanks all of you beforehand,

Now, my device is unlocked, that necessary means it's also rooted ?

Oh Thanks! and Yeah, that was the first post I'd read when I came into this cool website... The thing is, the guide is amazing, and those two ways to root the device seems great !! it's just that, what else after that ? I'm talking about being upgrading to Gingerbread, let's think the bases are ready (rooted, flashed, unlocked..) so then what ? should I download something and use some king of soft to upgrade my Inspire ? You know, I know all about Iphone and the way to jailbreak and unlock and upgraded and so on, but NOTHING about android.. as I said, I'm just starting.. Thanks a lot for all the advises... And SORRY for being posting this on the wrong thread!

Upon reading it, did you miss the part about flashing a rom? Since you want Gingerbread you will need to instal one. Hence the how to instal a rom portion.
The Inspire forums have many subforums. one of them is the dev forum. This would be your next reading material. But I suggest you read the guide again. Good luck.
Oh.. I got it !! The flashing process is basically the installation of a "firmware" into the phone, which would be in this case a gingerbread.
Thanks !

Rom/kernel = gingerbread or whatever (froyo, etc.)
Though there obviously hasn't been an official inspire gingerbread release, what you'll find in the dev section has been modified as required from the gingerbread release for the desire hd, pretty much the same phone.
There's a lot of them. Most of the newer ones are based on gingerbread.

[Q] 2.3.3 to 2.2?

I'm a bit confused. I've been reading online for a while, and don't fully understand the ROMs available and what not. (I am a computer programmer, so I'm fairly tech savvy).
Basically, my evo shift has 2.3.3. I did a factory reset hoping it would back down to 2.2, but it did not. Now, I'd like to install 2.2 so I can root my phone. Is there a way I can do this? I've also seen a few roms (ie: evervolv) that are rooted. How can I install these (i'm using a mac).
Also, what do you guys recommend? Should I install a ROM, downgrade to 2.2 (how?) and root, etc?
Thanks!
You cannot downgrade to Froyo.. Sorry. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218580
Sent from Gingerbread Speedy 4G
You can only temp root right now with 2.3 on the Shift. A factory reset just wipes everything and basically gives you a clean OS...it's like getting a new phone. The good folks at HTC should be releasing the the source code and kernel between now and EOL of the phone.

When ppl aren't sure what they are reading they have to ask. It may seem stupid to ppl who aren't new but to someone new, I can see it happening, especially if they don't want to brick their phone!
just my 1.5 cents worth
Yeah, I've read lots. I posted because it's good to have clarification.
I've read that you cannot "downgrade" to 2.2 from 2.3, but that doesn't necessarily answer my question if I can flash a 2.2 ROM..
I know 2.3.3 isn't rooted yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean I can't flash a ROM with an older, rooted version (very common in modchips for gaming systems.. If the company releases an update, you can usually re-flash the chip to the old update and be good to go).
So, it seems that if my phone is 2.3, my *ONLY* option is to temp root, is that correct (impossible to reflash, reprogram, etc)?

You need root and recovery (or the old hboot) in order to flash anything. So yes, until a new root method is found your only option is to temp root.

I thought this was already the case.
Questions like this should be asked in the Q&A forum. Period.
Also, one should spend time reading the first 1-2 pages of each forum, ESPECIALLY sticky threads before posting. It is obviously clear that the original poster did not spend ANY time reading.
I was a noob once too - but I took the time to do my research and spent an evening or two browsing threads and learning when I first flashed my HTC Tilt. Same for when I bought my Tilt2. Same for when I bought my Huawei S7, and same for when I bought my Infuse and Tab 10.1.
The "teach a man to fish" proverb applies here. If you just handhold a user, they will never learn anything. If you force them to spend some time reading threads, they'll start learning how to educate themselves and learn a new device without asking questions about stuff that is widely documented.

That's no excuse! I've been in this game for years and have learned almost everything I know simply by reading. If I can do it so can the noobs. Period. This guy deserves everything and anything he gets. I'm with Entropy. They must be forced to learn!
I'd say "ok guys back to topic" but instead I'll say "crap, here comes Neo again!"
Agreed.
A bit of reading would help everyone. Generally speaking, most questions have probably been asked before and even if they haven't; it is best to search anyway because you might stumble across the answer.
I'm all about being helpful, but constantly coddling people while they do the wrong thing isn't helping anyone. I want us to have a large user base so that our development continues to expand, but not just so that we have a lot of ignorant people running around posting the same thing over and over without doing a bit of searching.
It isn't as if this post was some desperate call for help because their phone stopped working after installing a ROM. It was just someone being lazy.
