[Q] Need Help Please - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I have a question about my phone. I'm running a custom ROM and the update for Gingerbread is out. Now since my phone was in my pocket I didn't realize the message popped up to update it and now it's downloading the new update. Can I stop it? If so how. Or should I let it download? Or will that brick my phone? Thanks for the help. Using a Droid X by the way.

no worries, the update will just fail to install

no problem

Thanks guys! Now one more question. I am ultimately trying to go back to stock so I can get Gingerbread. Since I'm using ROM Manager(I've only used two ROMs), I use the oldest date to restore my phone back to "stock" root correct? And then do I use Z4 root to "un"-root my phone? Appreciate it. (Droid X btw).

Latest Update and about phone question

Can you please tell me.. What's the latest update for HTC Desire S? I mean like the Official one.. Is it ICS 4.0+ ?
Since I have totally messed my phone up by rooting, unrooting, downgrading, upgrading, installing custom ROMs over one another - I didn't do it properly. I have no idea how to check the what's the latest update.
Oh another question, according to what I've told you above, does this mean my phone is like dead now?
It kept freezing and starting itself many times - is this because of the ROM or is it because of the phone? The phone is very very slow and it lags a lot lol.
Thank you in advance!
The latest update was gingerbread. But I suggest you trying to flash different rom rather than reverting back.

Most up to date stock ROM for HTC Inspire AT&T

Hey Guys,
I wanted to ask a quick question. I am currently running LeeDroid's rom and I am done with it. I want to go back to what comes with original rom with ATT. I have HTC Inspire any recommendations where I can get it? I tried searching the forum but all the stuff seems from the begining of the year. I am not sure if there is something more recent. I really appreciate your help.
Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you could just use the Ace Advanced Hack Kit (you're gonna have to Google for it, the developer pulled his work from XDA and thus it would not be proper to link to it) to unroot and flash back to the stock ROM, then use the Software Update to update to the latest version. Alternatively, Gizmoe has taken the latest stock ROM update and rooted it. You could always flash that and keep root, if you wish.
It was the first ROM on the I4G's developement page. Jeez peeps, search for it

It's not pure stock, bloatware is gone, there's some tweaks, and you retain root.
If you want to lose root (not sure why anyone would), you can download the update package from HTC. You'll probably lose everything you have , but you'll be on 100% pure stock.
Installing OTA update if you're rooted doesn't work
tried it, update does not launch, but again, why would you

Rooted at 4.1.1 - Should I take the 4.1.2 update?

I just got this device as a new phone. it came with 4.1.1.
I followed the procedure to downgrade, root, and upgrad.
I am now at 4.1.1, rooted.
The 4.1.2 update has downloaded on my phone, and it is asking me if i want to install. Will i loose root? is Voodoo broken for this update? or will i be ok if i temp un-root, and then take the update?
I don't want to take the update if it will kill my hard-earned root. I know it is sometimes lost when taking this update. Should i do it or not? and what is the "right" way to do it to protect root?
be helpful to know your device, if u on xt 925 you can, if on xt 926 then chill

Just unroot, install update and restore root. That's what I did and it was fine, until someone told me SBF'ing would give me better battery life, now I lost root. Wish I had just left it. I have XT926 non-dev edition. Use voodoo rootkeeper.
We got root now!

No worries, we now have root ability for the HD on 4.1.2 thanks to Dan R! Check for it as I am unable to post links at the moment.
I didn't see a link here on XDA yet so forgive the external link.
I had tried SBF back to 4.1.1 and 4.0.4 after a buggy 4.1.2 update, only to soft brick my phone. SBF of 4.1.2 got me functional again thank goodness. so I waited for a root app, got one yesterday.
even with root out for 4.1.2, it was safe to take the OTA on 926 consumer.
I took a chance and upgraded my maxx hd using the OTA (i used rootkeeper)... but it stayed rooted no problem after the update and didn't run into any issues or bugs that i could tell... Was also able to boot up another slot on still on 4.1.1... Nothing too significant in 4.1.2 over 4.1.1 though... but it's moot now since the root's been released

[Q] loading a DROID 4 with ICS

Hi all,
Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't want to brick my phone, so....
I have a DROID 4 (now unrooted) that is still running 2.3.6. I cannot get the OTA ICS update to succeed, so I was wondering if it is safe to use the Droid 4 Utility for ICS to install it directly.
Thanks for any advice you might have.

To clarify, the readme would seem to indicate I can do this, but I must not have a bone-stock 2.3.6 or the OTA update would work. This is why I am asking if it is safe to proceed.
Thanks,

Questions about stock rom

Let me first say hello I am new to this forum. I am new to rooting/flashing when it comes to androids. I have a Verizon Motorola Droid Razr HD XT926 which I am trying to fix for a friend. It is stuck on the red eye and will not boot. I understand I will need to re-flash the software, and I understand the steps I need to take to re-flash using RSD lite. My problem is I cannot find a download for the stock rom, nor am I 100% sure which one I need. My friend has no interest in rooting, so I just need it back to stock. I do not know what software version is currently on the phone. Is there a way to find out with the phone not booting? Or does this even matter? Can I just flash the latest official version? And that is my main problem, which version to use, and where to find the download for it. I have searched around for some time and cannot find a definite answer on this. Thanks alot, any help with this would be amazing!
Your best bet is to just flash the latest one. You can get it from here: http://www.drdevs.com/devs/FXZ-files/XT926 (Droid RAZR HD)/ . The last one on the list is the latest.
