So I received the notification to update it to 3.1 today, so I updated it. Update went fine, and I used it about 20 minutes after the update. No issues! I turned the screen off, then went back to use it an hour later and it wouldn't boot, so I turned it off (long press power 10 seconds) and turned it back on and now it just sits at the Asus boot animation. The animation "flashes" once, then stops.
I'm on stock, never rooted. I went into recovery and did the thing to wipe it, but it still won't boot...
I've let it sit at the Asus screen for 45 min and still nothing...
If I hit Vol UP after I power it on holding Vol down + power, I get to the Android guy with the triangle in his stomach area, but nothing ever happens...

Hi,
I finally received the notification for the OTA update to firmware 9.4.5.26 this morning. Before I had 9.4.5.22.
Before installing, I charged the battery and backed up all my data. Then I pressed install.
What happened next was: The device shut down and a little android showed up with a progress bar.
My problem now is: Nothing more happened. When the progress bar was full, the screen went black and up to now (an hour later) the screen still is black.
I tried to force a shutdown by holding the power button for 8 seconds like described in the manual. It does vibrate, but it does not shutdown I think, because I can repeat this again and again and it always vibrates after 8 seconds.
I also tried pressing the reset button, but that doesn't work either.
I called the asus support, but the guy had no idea and told me to return the device.
Has anyone any ideas what I could try before I really have to return the device?

You could try this --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29651290
and let me know if you need further help.

Could be a defective battery, you never know.
Does it have mobile docking?
Thx for your replies.
Unfortunately I cannot start into recovery because the tablet is still on, I guess (that's why it vibrates after holding power 8 seconds to force shutdown).
No, I don't have a dock.

Ok,try this: Press and hold Volume up + Power until it vibrates (that should put it in APX mode) and the screen stay black (is not shutdown) and once you get there press and hold Volume down+ Power and then again Volume Up to enter recovery.
I was also stuck in a situation like your and i know the tablet will not shutdown but will always restart (and vibrates when it does) so keep trying and i'm sure you will get to recovery.

Thx, I tried this several times now, but I'm afraid I don't get the device into recovery.
edit: I wanted to send the device to Asus for repair, but they warned me that there will be a €95 fee if they decide that this problem is not under warranty.
Since I do not want to argue with Asus in case they are not accommodating, I've just brought the device to the post office to return it to Amazon. I hope the replacement device will work better.
Alright so here's the issue. I was about to flash the latest CM using ClockworkMod, before it restarted it asked for superuser permissions which I had already granted before which seemed odd to me. I set down my phone after this to let it do its thing after this and when I picked it back up it was off and wouldn't come back to life. It's bricked.
When I try to power it on, it shows the Samsung logo and then goes black and then nothing. If I hold down the vol+, power and home to get to recovery it will show the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo then goes black, then shows the samsung logo again, then goes black and stays there. If I do vol-, power and home, it asks to press vol+ or vol-, so I press vol+ to get to Odin. It shows the Odin screen for about 5 seconds and then it goes black and stays black.
So basically, I can't boot, get to recovery, or get to odin long enough to actually use it. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Sounds like it is time for a replacement. I had a Thunderbolt that did the same thing and couldn't fix it because the phone will not stay on long enough to do anything.
I bought a Moto G for my little brother and it arrived yesterday. The first Problem which appeared was that I couldn't download apps. I started the factory reset and now it won't Boot anymore. There's just a black screen after the Boot animation and I can't even turn it off. Should I send it back to Motorola or should I try to fix it?

If you have only done this what you have described then i would say, yes, send it back.
Because only a factory reset should not bring your phone in this state.
but
Have you tried to press and hold the power button for 20 seconds?
Then it should be forced to switch off.
Sure......you have the option to fiddle around yourself.
In that case see the thread Restore Stock Firmware if above mentioned does not resolve your stuck system
I tried but the phone restarts. I sent a ticket to the Motorola support. Probably they'll tell me that I should sent it back.

Then lets see what Motorola says.

I have the same problem but it doesn't even let me turn the phone off
I have a the same problem, but i have a few more details:
It doesn't actually get to a boot animation, just to the Motorola logo screen that usually comes before the boot animation. it stays on that screen for 15 seconds, and vibrates 10 seconds into said 15 seconds, like the phone does when it goes into safe mode.
If you hold the power button for 20 seconds, it does turn off, only to turn right back on again and do the same thing
its is actually off for about 10 seconds, which is long enough to get into the fastboot menu, but every option that is selected from there gets the same old boot sequence i described before.
My moto g started doing this when i was using it on 14% battery, i went into the recent apps menu (bottom left button next to home button) when it just froze on that menu, but not showing any open apps. It then just turned off, no shutdown sequence, and when i tried to turn it back on the LED Indicator flashed like when it doesn't have enough battery to turn on. i then went into the fastboot menu (power+vol down) for no particular reason, and selected the QCOM option at the bottom out of curiosity. the notification light then did its low battery flash and the phone turned off. I then later plugged it in to charge and it has been stuck in that boot sequence with me running the battery down and trying everything in power, except contacting motorola. ( i didnt conatct motorola as my phone's screen got cracked about three weeks before all this started, so that would mean they wouldnt fix it for free)
My Moto g phone is not working even after factory reset ,, the error is it goes white or dark and i have to switch it off again..Sometimes it starts working and then again it gets switched off then again u have try factory reset or delete cache and just hope it work ..
Any one can help me with this issue please reply
I did factory reset to my Micromax Q350. Before resetting it was running Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 with July 2016 security updates. Now when I reboot the device, after language and SIM options, it asks me to select a WiFi. But it is stuck in "checking connection... this can take a while", even when the same WiFi is working with other devices. The Select WiFi and Checking connection pages can't be skipped as the Skip button is grayed out.
My device is not rooted and I don't want to root is as long as possible, so this answer doesn't help me.
I have tried various options suggested in forums and nothing is working for me. I have tried with and without SIM cards and Micro SD card as well.

Held power button, (or power+volume down) for a while, not too sure. Restarted after that. Just try all combination of keys for a while, might work.
Noticed very erratic behavior on the Nexus 5 :
The phone automatically shuts down.. tries to restart and reboots once it reaches the Google logo. It then continues in a reboot loop.
It got out of the reboot loop, but now it's completely dead. No charge indicator. Won't start at all. Cannot even get into the recovery.
Happened once before. Same issue: reboot loop + dead phone but it started working after a while.
What should I do? The battery was charged when it died.
Also, before it died, whenever I pressed the power button to turn off the screen, the screen went off, but then came on automatically again.

I'm currently experiencing the same problem, my Nexus 5 is apparently has a stuck power button, it'll power up and off again constantly and attempting to go into the bootloadeer wont help as the power button being stuck it starts up immediatly i cannot change the option quick enough to go into recovery mode.
I'm thinking the only option here is to send it back to Google and have it swapped or repaired.
Just some minutes ago my S7 froze because of Focus Gallery App. I don't exactly know what it did but the phone did not respond any more.
So pressing the power button did not bring back the phone either. After searching for a bit I found a way to simulate a bettery disconnect by pressing Volume Down + Power Button.
The Phone came back up and displayed the initial boot logo. Also the blue LED is on. But nothing happens from here on. I do not come to the "Samsung" boot animation and the phone simply
does nothing. Retriying Volume Down + Power Button doesn't seem to help too. I tryed all button combinations but nothing brings the phone back.
I also cannot enter the recovery menu. So no chance to reset to default settings.
I am running a stock Android on the phone. Nothing was done by me. No custom ROM, no root, just plain Samsung Android.
Is there sill something I can do?
Edit: I just got into whats seems to be ODIN Mode??? Can I do something from here?
Oddly this happened to me last night although I may have inadvertently done it. But the only way I was able to get my phone functioning again was reflashing the OS to the phone.
How did you manage to get the phone into Odin mode? I'm having the same issue with the phone being totally unresponsive but the blue LED on.
if you can reboot your phone with the VOL Down/Power, when the screen goes black, quickly press and hold VOL Up, Home and Power. it should enter recovery. or hold Vol down, Home and Power to enter the download screen.
I have the S7 Edge (rooted, custom ROM) and it's running fine. My girlfriend's regular S7 is having the same issue though.
When she plugged it in to charge last night, she checked it a few minutes later at which point the phone had (started to) reboot. The blue notification LED was on and the screen had frozen at the 'SA' from the 'SAMSUNG' startup logo. Forced a reboot with down+power, resulting in just the blue LED (no logo this time). Phone was unresponsive (couldn't force a reboot again) so left the battery to drain overnight. The phone is completely dead today even after charging - no LED, no boot, no anything.
I'm not sure if she had the phone scheduled to perform an update overnight and it froze halfway through, but that would be my first guess. So far, no fix.
