Thanks for the share, it's Super Fast, and my browser of choice now.
Regards
Does Dolphin5 have GPU acceleration? Only Opera has been having the GPU acceleration and that was why it was so much faster and smoother.
Really love the new version. Might switch from Miren.
Would be nice if the application icon was the same color as the theme when you change it.
I like how the bookmarks and settings are accessed by shifting the webpage left or right. I would like to have more theme options, like a Dark or Honeycomb-like design.
There's one caveat though; webpages kinda re-draw themselves when they are scrolled. They should be fully rendered so the experience will be better.
Loving it on my Droid. Best yet.
But the Honeycomb stock browser still wins because of the Quick Controls. I wish Dolphin would add navigation buttons to the right side slideout menu since there's all that room on a tablet. It'd be just as good as quick controls IMHO.
No text reflow after pinch to Zoom on SGS2.
It was a great function on HTC Devices in Std Browser. Opera mobile also supports this.
Always been my choice of browser.

Have to restore 4.6.1 because 5.0 somewhat slower and periodically doing FC on my g-tablet CM7.0.3.
Best browser I have used on my phone, amazing work!

I would really like to know if this is true.
I would also like to know if there is any truth to Dolphin being an overlay so to speak, with the phone still using the stock engine. Or, if you install (say) Firefox, you get a new engine, from what I hear?
How does it fare speed wise? Any benchmarks yet?
Userscript support?

Market wont show it on my gtab on calkulin Roman 2.2. Can someone post the. APk here?thanks
The .apks are in the first post in this thread.
UGH
everything else about the update is great, but i really want to be able to choose my own home page. I hope a future update fixes this......
You can. Or won't it stick? Is it a bug?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
You can set your homepage. There was a bug in the betas preventing that, but it is fixed now.
No GPU acceleration, and it will only be coming to Dolphin on Honeycomb according to what I have read.
To the devs: all of the Dolphin 5 builds have all kept stopping while loading some pages. Not a crash, just stop loading the page. Otherwise, definitely better than the old version, which was great in itself
Related
As you may know, about half a month ago, the old brand UC Browser and Opera Mini have both recently released new version for Symbian. I have tried them and get amazing experience. The UC Browser 7.4 now looks like a wholly new designed mobile browser. That let me think of Opera Mini 5.1 also subvert its 4.x interface design.
Opera Mini has an interesting function, Speed Dial. With 9 customizable sites directing to any web page. Now UC Browser gives its answer - the renewed navigation different than ever. Not only can I select any site by clicking its icon or title, but also choose my favorite site and put into My Shortcuts(UC's implementation of Speed Dial). My Shortcuts have 8 block, while Speed Dial has 9. While UC Browser has both system of traditional Navigation Bar and Bookmarks, Opera Mini give them all in its Bookmarks. Considering UC Browser is almost the only browser have these site links besides Speed Dial and Bookmark, it keeps me from inputting URL all the time.

}
The Quick Links design makes a good feature that I can see them both horizon and vertical and quickly find where I want to go. This give more freedom for me. So Opera Mini picks a similar mode to calculate my definition, which depends on my choice.
UC's Navigation
While the navigation bar of UC Browser is becoming navigation square, the Cursor Mode has replaced the Common to become the default Operation Mode, what makes the browser more similar to the desktop browser. At contrast, Opera Mini performs on the desktop view as well as before, because they have the experience of product a real desktop browser.
UC Browser Opera Mini
However, in UC Browser, the cursor mode can be still found at the adaptive view, which is more or less better than ever. Opera Mini has less competitive in that mode, which they call Mobile view. The reason maybe OBML is designed for desktop, and UHTM is designed for mobile. As they say, UC Browser cacan display WML and XHTML directly, but Opera Mini cannot.
UC Browser Opera Mini
After I download the English version, a different starting page is there to choose the region to belong. That means all people in the world now using the same version, and the UC server may detect what sites he want to go.
Opera Mini just released Symbian version several days ago, so it cannot yet be a hard threat to UC Browser, for the latter has many features the former hasn't. For example, the most stable download manager I ever seen on a handset, an uploading system when I access some forum, and so many browser mode, such as Night Mode and the Free Copy function.
Night Mode
Yes, the last one is what I want to emphasize. After some months, the Free Copy comes back to Symbian. Free Copy was a great adventure in UC Browser, but it was once removed from UC Browser 7.2. Now, I can select any part of a web page, and copy to my clipboard, it seems let me copy everything on the web to my phone, so excited! Compared with Opera Mini, whose copy and paste is limited to the operating system, but no pictures and text mashup.
Free copy
Nevertheless, the UC Browser has a new feedback interface, this interface is catching up with its competitors, Opera Bug Report Wizard, which yet cannot be found in Opera Mini.
UC Feedbacks
I'd glad to introduce these two browser to you. If you have just used one of them, you should try the other to find some different things.
Thanks for that review

HI, Dolphin Browser HD v5.0 has released finally to the Android market. I have been waiting for such a long time, although that I have used their 4 betas.
I can notice that they have made much progress in the UI, settings and the performance (fix many bugs).
First, I like the smooth tab bar. It’s better to let the tab bar stay on top and hide the address. But it’s ok now. If themes are installed, the bar color are changed. That’s great for me.
Second, they have done much work on the Quick menu. Bookmarks, history, settings, add-ons, themes and gesture are included in the Quick menu. The background color has kind of texture.
Last but not least, I can successfully browser most websites without FC or hanging. It means that their performance has been much improved. It almost closes to perfect.
So download it, I’m sure you wouldn’t regret. LOL.
Been using the betas and now the final myself.
Bravo Dolphin, great work.
I don't browse the web that much on my phone but from my experiences so far with betas, this is the best browser out there at the moment.

but thank you to remind me.

not as fast as th trusted opera mini, and it's ability to sync bookmarks with any phone I use. I know on opera mini the speed compromises the quality, but opera is way faster than any other browser in my opinion.

I loved Opera for its speed and usability, however I never liked how it handled flash content, or the fact that it doesn't.
Not always having the default web site was a negative for me as well.

There is no need to buy Dolphin license to block Ads.

UC Browser, facing tough competition from Opera Mini, Bolt and perhaps many other browsers, is no doubt constantly improving and taking steps forward to a better browsing on mobiles. It has evolved from just a crap browser with a great download manager to an excellent browser. Perhaps UC Browser is the most feature rich mobile browser till date. While some may argue it lacks javascript support, Opera Mini also don't. And it is not possible to provide javascript on low end phones. On high end phones like Android, it supports javascript though. I must say it provides much smoother mobile browsing experience that you can enjoy on the go always.

Nice beta
The beta is working nice so far. The only thing i would change is flash support. I have been using flash with lots of browsers on jelly bean and it works well(as well as flash can work on mobile) . At least give us the option to turn it on instead of a popup that says no support. I know in the future there may be no support but for now let us enjoy it while we can. Keep up the good work

Feels pretty nice. I froze the regular Dolphin and am going to try this out as my primary browser, it was easy enough to cloud sync bookmarks between the stable and beta Dolphin browsers.
Chrome is a nice browser but without flash support and custom user agent support I dont use it much. Dolphin allows flash and a custom user agent. Now if only they would allow Flash on JB. It could be disabled by default with a disclaimer notice when you enable it that flash isn't supported. As long as flash support is in the app they should let JB users enable it if they want. I imagine their reasoning is that if flash is unstable it could make the browser unstable causing some to think its Dolphin's fault.
On Gingerbread I get the same html5test.com score as the stock android browser.
Is this a gingerbread limitation (browsers use the same rendering engine)?
Firefox and opera get different scores but they both use engines other than webkit.

Fast to load pages but is INCREDIBLY SLOW to navigate around the page. Very very laggy in pretty much all u.i elements, especially trying to move around on a webpage or zoom in and out. The most important part of a browser to me is the smoothness of the interface and this completely flops in that regard.
Xperia PLAY R800i running CM7 @ 1.2Ghz.
I'm using a tegra 3 htc one x.
I have the version from the market installed also here are my findings.
The beta is faster to load pages.
The beta re-wraps text faster.
The beta is smoother while navigating around the page. (go to the desktop youtube site on both to see the difference).
The address bar animation is smoother on the market verison.
Sometimes two loading bars appear when loading web pages.
I'll get back to you if I spot anything else :good:.

DESCRIPTIONLucid Browser is a free and open source web browser designed to be small, light, fast, and simple. The app itself is as small as about 4 MB, and the Donate version is only about 2 MB. The browser uses a custom homepage that loads locally for quick start-ups. Although it is small in size, it packs a punch with all the features you would normally see in a mobile browser. For example, you can import bookmarks from other browsers that use file formats of HTML or JSON. The browser also allows for complete management of bookmarks with folder categorization. By default, Lucid Browser uses Ecosia, a project designed to help plant trees. Lucid Browser also comes with many settings and ways to personalize the look. It is easy to use, very handy, and allows you to surf the net with speed.

It's light-weight so it means:
-it won't consume as much RAM as bigger browsers does
-work fast because there are not many elements to load so that CPU can focus on page loading
needs to handle revoked certs
It should not show this page
https://revoked.grc.com.
But it does. You could be among the first to offer secure browser for Android.
Awesome browser man, keep it up.
I'd like to ask if it's possible to add an option to autohide the action bar during navigaton as well as adding the option to display the most visited sites when typing an adress?
A few in the play store have mentioned it in reviews, but the ability to close the browser would be optimal. Currently the only way to get back to the home screen is the home button on my phone. I assume this is intentional, but for full browser replacement on android for me I need a way to exit the program even if it becomes an advanced option in the settings menu. Otherwise very lightweight and intuitive to use and I really like it.
ability to close the app, would be necessary for me too. Otherwise definitely what I need in a browser ???

Amazing... Keep it up.
I would prefer holding the back button to close the browser - or ideally options for making holding do this of course.
I realise this is probably a big ask but Lastpass integration would be nice as well. It pains me and my phone battery that Dolphin (and possibly Firefox ...?) are the only browsers to offer this.
Lovely app BTW, thanks for all the hard work.
Looks good but a couple of feature request.
-Ability to close the app.
-Setting a blank home page
-clearing cache, browsing history, cookies etc when exiting.
Also, swype(keyboard) doesn't show a ".com" on the keyboard which usually works with all browsers. Please check that.
Thanks
Great Browser!
